How to insert .swf video into html & mute onclick

I have a .swf file - a 20 sec vid with no player controls, just the video - made by someone else, so this is the only file type I have and can't seem to edit it.
Any way to insert the .swf, and be able to mute the video? It's being used as a banner-type-thing and if people don't want to hear it, they should be able to mute it. I don't need play/pause/stop/etc. - just mute. So however it can be done, either on-click or as a button, would be great...
so confused! this should be easy, no?

Unfortunately as you do not have the fla file that was used to create the swf, this cannot be done without turning of the sound on the users computer, which would probably annoy your user.
The only other way is to purchase an swf de-compiler, and then recreate the fla with the mute button, this would naturally require you to use flash pro.

When I used to do tabs I would set up a page that was as wide as the tab sheet including the tab, then add text frames in each tab position.

Help with inserting SWF file into .html page

I created a photo gallery in Flash CS5.5, using the advanced photo gallery template. It works fine as a standalone SWF file but it's not displaying properly when I try and insert it into the Gallery page of my website.
The thumbnails are showing as blank white boxes and the main image holder isn't showing at all, though the controls beneath it are showing. The SWF file and all the images are stored in site/images/gallery/ and my Gallery page is in the root. What's going on here? Can anyone help please?

If you are storing any of your Flash assets in sub-folders and having problems... it's most likely because of pathing problems. For review:
Pathing issues
Almost always when it works on the local machine and not the server, it's a pathing problem.
You can put your Flash related files in whatever folders you want, they do NOT have to be in the root, they do NOT all have to be in the same folder. But if you have a problem and if sticking them all in the root folder works, then you know that the issue was a pathing problem.
Just remember that paths used in the .swf become relative to the Web page on which the .swf is placed, NOT it’s physical location. So for example, if your .swf is in the flash/data folder and you use that .swf on a Web page in the root folder, you are in effect, removing that .swf from flash/data and putting it in root. So if the .swf is loading any related files (xml, images, video, etc), the path used inside the .swf to load the .xml file has to be relative to it's new location in root and then back down into flash/data. This is true even though when testing the .swf by itself, it can be inside flash/data and work just fine, since relative to it's location, the path is just fine, they are in the same folder. But if that same path is used when the .swf is placed on a page two folder levels up, the relative path has changed, the old "same folder" path will not work.
In fact if you are placing the .swf on a web page in a different folder than the .swf is stored in, and that .swf calls external assets, then direct clicking and opening of the .swf in it’s folder should NOT work! That’s because the paths to the external assets should be relative to the Web page and not the physical location of the .swf.
So just be sure that you use addresses relative to the final Web page locations (not physical file locations) and you can put the Flash related files in what ever folders you want.

How to insert a video into a photograph?

I need to have a presentation for a client where they see a photograph/image that has a video running as a small part of it. Imagine a picture of a room with a television and when looking at the photo you see a video running on the tv. I need to show a video advertisement for a product that I have that is running in a display in a store. Any help would be much appreciated, not sure if even possible but Forum seemed a good place to turn to. Thanks.

You may be able to create a web page the has and imaged background and a video on the page. In Photoshop to may be able to create a video that would look like an image with a video in it. However it would be a video not a video in a image. It would just look like it was for the background would be a still image that would be in every frame of the video.

I'm using absolute urls for the flashvars because I read in a forum that that's what you're supposed to do. Anyway I am a little frustrated that the video won't play. I tried creating a video with no skin and the same problem occurs.

Hello everyone.
I've got a very nasty issue. I created a slideshow in
Captivate and saved it as SWF file.
When I try to import/insert SWF in a presentation (in
Presenter) as "slide animation", I get nothing - the SWF still
isn't imported.
Also, I can do import SWF, when choose the "insert as sidebar
animation" option.
Any ideas how to insert SWF?
I use PowerPoint 2007 and Captivate 3.

Are you facing this problem for this Captivate createdswf or
other swf file as well ? By other swf file i mean created using
Flash Authoring or any other tool.
Also check if swf plays in slideshow of PowerPoint when

Inserting MobileMe Videos into IWeb

I have three questions about inserting MobileMe Videos into iweb.
1) I used the "insert from MobileMe" command in iWeb and it allows me to insert a video but I can't change the size of the video. Do you know how I can change the size.
2) I have some movies I have uploaded to the gallery via iMovie and some I uploaded via the mobileme site. The ones via iMovie I can easily insert like I mentioned in Q1 but the others I uploaded are put into an album and iWeb doesn't allow me to select the video I want to insert. It only allows me to insert the whole album which is a small box with links to the album. I want to choose the video to insert into the page. Any ideas How?
3) Is there a way to insert the video from mobileme using the Html Snippet? If so, how?

You can use the [OBJECT/EMBED|http://htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/special/object.html] code for inserting media in a page.
When you know the location of the movie you can create a path to it.
Your webgallery is in iDisk>Web>Sites>_gallery>100999>Movie.

You can use an interactive object such as a click box placed over the top of a text caption, or a button, to link to the URL. However, these will not strictly-speaking appear identical to hyperlinks.
If you really want to replicate the rollover appearance of a true HTML text hyperlink, then you might consider the Hyperlink widget from Infosemantics:

How to insert a movie into a slideshow?

I'm using iPhoto 6.0.6 on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8. I'm creating a slide show, and I want to insert a video into the slideshow, so that I manually advance through the slides (I know how to set that up), and then manually start the movie, after which I manually step through the remaining slides.
The problem is that I can't find a way to get the movie into the slideshow. I created the movie in iMovie HD 6.0.3, and I have exported it as a self-contained QuickTime movie using QuickTime Pro. I just can't find a way to get the movie into the slideshow. Is it even possible with iPhoto 6.0.6?

Movie files can't be added to slideshows in iPhoto 6. That wasn't a feature until iPhoto 8 (09).
You can use a 3rd party slideshow creator app like PhotoPresenter which as over 20 animated themes, some of which can be viewed in this demo page: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes

I am making a imovie with a lot of pictures and few videos but I was wondering how to insert the pictures into the filmstrip theme. I have seen it done in other peoples movies before i just cant figure it out

Hi Bob,
With titles, all you need to do is drag them directly onto a video clip or still - the Theme will automatically take care of placing the video into the appropriate frames.
Similarly with transitions. Drag the theme transition between 2 clips (video or stills) and the frames will be "populated" automatically. If you now click on the transition, you will see that each frame is numbered, both in the viewer and the timeline. Simply drag the numbers in the timeline to a different position to change the stills in the transition.
Hope I've not misunderstood what you are trying to do!

If you open the BEx Query Designer from the desktop, you cannot execute the query directly to the BEx Analyzer for an Excel view. You can only execute it directly to the Web. This is true for the SAP BW 3.x version as well as the SAP NetWeaver 2004s version.
If you open the BEx Query Designer from within BEx Analyzer, once you select (or create) your query, you will have a green check mark icon that will then allow you to deploy the query directly to the BEx Analyzer for the Excel view.
However, this would only make sense if you are creating or modifying the query. If not, you would simply open BEx Analyzer and use the Open Query option in this tool to see your query in an Excel format, as has been previously suggested by the other respondents to this posting.
