Hi tonio8bits,
Yes, for installing a second HDD you normally need a HDD holder like on first HDD. With other words its a case that holds the HDD to install it in slot properly. It should be the same as in first HDD slot...
I dont have the spare part number but an authorized service provider can help you to order this part. So you should get in contact with the guys to get this part.
Here is a list of all ASPs:

I hope I could help you a little bit :)

  • How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc

    1a)  Here is very useful article from PCWorld.com. The article is entitled "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" and means just what it says. The article also has links to Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder and legitimate Windows 7 ISOs from Digital River, a licensed distributor of Microsoft software. The article lists "Step 1" as;
"Find your Windows 7 product key: Typically this 25-character alphanumeric string is printed on a sticker affixed to your PC or on documentation included with your PC. Alternatively, you can use a keyfinder program such as Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder to pull your product key from the Registry. You need your product key to reinstall Windows."
1b)  Using a key finder, however, is only useful if the Windows 7 product key was printed on a sticker (Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity) affixed to your PC, on documentation included with your PC, or sent via email by Microsoft. Assuming your computer came from one of the big brand computer manufacturers... HP, Sony, Dell, Gateway, etc... as most do, it uses a generic "mass activation" OEM SLP key. Trying to use this key by itself isn't going to work. This OEM SLP key needs to be mated with an OEM SLP certificate and an appropriate OEM BIOS with a proper SLIC table.
1c)  Here is where ABR Beta With Windows 7 Support comes to the rescue. Follow the "How to use it" section of ABR for Windows Vista for information and instructions on how to use ABR. The steps listed for Vista apply to Windows 7 as well. Perform the "activation backup" to "backup" and save the OEM SLP key and OEM SLP certificate. Save the entire ABR folder to an external location for later use. This will allow you to pre-activate your "clean" Windows 7 install on the computer you pulled the key and certificate from.
1d)  Now install Windows 7 from your new "Windows 7" disc or USB stick, following all prompts as needed. Don't enter a Windows 7 product key if request. Also, don't allow Windows to try to auto-activate. Once Windows is fully installed, run ABR "activation restore" to "restore" the previously backed up product key and certificate to the new Windows 7 install. Verify that Windows is activated, repeat "activation restore" if needed.
    2)  Here is another useful article, this time from SevenForums.com. This arcticle is entitled "Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7" and provides detailed steps required to backup your computer, audit current hardware and software, locate software and drivers, install and activate Windows 7, and create a Windows 7 Backup Image of your fresh install.
    Good luck.
Links to additional Windows 7 SP1 "Editions" and "Languages" can be found HERE and HERE.
Link to "ei.cfg Removal Utility". The "ei.cfg Removal Utility" is a simple tool that will remove the ei.cfg  from any Windows ISO disc image, thereby converting the image into a "universal disc" that will prompt the user to select an edition during setup instead of being forced to use different discs for different versions of Windows 7.

    ervis,
Before formatting the hard drive you should have been able to use the HP Recovery Manager to create your recovery discs or perform a system recovery. This is provided the recovery partition wasn't already corrupt or damaged. If the "D:" HP Recovery partition is missing or damaged and you don't have a set of HP Recovery Discs, you will need to use the information in my previous post to get your computer up and running again.
    The information in the document referred you to applies to several different "types" of installations;
Using ABRbeta is only needed if you have an active OEM factory SLP (system locked preactivated) installation of Windows. You use ABR to pull the factory key and certificate off the computer, to reuse it on the same computer with a clean Windows install.
If you are just installing Windows and are going to use the Windows 7 product key on the COA on the side of your computer, all you need to do is download the same version of Windows that your key is for and burn the ISO. Now install Windows answering or following all prompts as needed (except do not enter the Windows product at this time... it will be entered later). Once Windows has completely installed, enter the key and activate it. Your Windows 7 OA key should work on a SP1 install without issue.
The only thing I see that could mess things up, is the language of the install. If you are still having trouble activating Windows, please reference the ISO you download and a post a photo of your Windows COA
with the key erased or Xed out.
    Please send KUDOs

  • How do I access new second hard drive?

Hi! I am newbie, I am sorry if this a dumb question...
How do I access my second hard drive?
    This is what I have:
    SparcStation5 170Mhz, 192MB memory.2HDD (one 4.3GB w/ OS, second Hdd 4.3GB)
I had my sparc working with Solaris 8 just perfect!
I added the second hard drive, no problems, I formatted the HDD from withing Solaris OS, (I can probe-scsi from openBoot promt and it showes OK), everything is OK so far, I can see the send hard drive using format, I can partition it and create slices on it, everything seems to be OK, I have no problems making partitions and everything on that Hdd. But when I try 'ls', I can't see anything on that disk, any suggestions? I tried several ways from my manual/book, including mount and it reads 'no acces point on mount' or somthing like that.
this is what I see from format command:
disk 0. (seegate 4.3GB.....) this is my new hard drive (already formated and partioned, I created a new partition /usr with 3.75GB on partition 6. Partition 3 is used by the hdd with a totoal of 4GB . this shows as c0t1d0
disk 1. (SUN4.2GB) this is the hard drive with the OS Solaris 8. this is c0t3d0
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks!
    Murillo

    hi there ...
    read below--
Find out the address of the drive
    STOP+A
At the OK prompt, type probe-scsi. This will list all scsi devices on the system. Find the new drive.
Type boot -r so the OS will see the new drive.
Login as root and type format. Pick the new drive. The drives are listed as c(controller #)t(scsi id or target #)d(disk #). Label drive is required (it will tell you if the drive is not labeled).
Next, type partition. Partition the drive as required (always leave partition 2 as the whole drive as it is informational to the OS
Type print to list the current partitions. When you are done making changes type label
To return to the OS prompt, type quit twice
    newfs /dev/dsk/DRIVE-ADDRESS
    (ie c0t1d0s0) (controller 0 target(ID) 1 disk 0 slice(partition) 0).
mkdir directory, where directory is the directory you want to mount the drive on
    (ie, /disk2)
    mount /dev/dsk/DRIVE-ADDRESS directory
Add the new drive to your /etc/vfstab file.
    (ie. /dev/dsk/c0t1d0s0 /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s0 /disk2 ufs 1 yes - )

how to install lexmark printer x1195 without disc

I checked their site and it looks like Lexmark does not have Mac drivers for that printer for anything Mac OS newer than 10.3. However. if you Google Lexmark x1195 Mac driver, there are some third-party sites claiming to have solutions for Mac and Lion.
In my experience, Lexmark has been hit or miss with Mac support. Some models work with Macs--some don't.  If you go shopping for another printer, you might wish to steer away from them.

  • How to transfer iTunes to a second hard disc - internal or external.

I know this is a perrenial topic, but it still seems unusually tricky, and I've searched but not come up with all the solutions.
I have a modest size primary hard disc in my G5 (leopard 10-5-8), but a second one which is twice the size and empty. Plus two external hard discs which are huge - one terrabyte. So right now iTunes on my primary hard disc is slowing everything down and I want to put a whole lot more music in it.
So how to shift everything to the internal and/or external hard discs? I've tried and got nowhere. I shifted the library but the playlist didn't follow, so I put it all back again. And when I open iTunes on disc 2 which is empty apart from that, it just reverts to the window I get on disc 1. Doesn't seem to function properly on disc 2.
Ideas? I'd love some help with this - I'm a musician with projects for iTunes and this is driving me nuts.
    andy

Did you move the whole music folder to the external drive, then hold down the option key while starting itunes so you could select the new library location on the external drive?

  • How do I reinstall the recovery hard disc after new hard drive was installed?

I just purchased an HP Envy dv6 Quad Edition, w/ windows8,that came with the 1Tb hard drive. I made a recovery backup on an external hd and installed a new HHD. When I turn it on I can't see how to install the backup? What do I need to do? The item # is c0l27av.

    Hi manfield45,
Take a look at these documents on Recovery and Restoring
    1. Performing an HP System Recovery
    2. Creating Recovery Discs or saving a recovery image to a USB Flash drive
    3. Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers
    I hope these options help.

  • How do I add a second hard drive to my dv7-3060us?

I'm very short of space on my HP originally installed 500GB hard drive and need more storage space. I have a new Seagate 750GB drive, 7200 rpm, and would like to install it. When I opened the case to access the second hard drive compartment, I was stymied when I found no connectors pre-installed. What do I need to do to install this drive?

  • Cannot find a mounting to install a second hard drive in my Qosmio x70-A

I have looked all over the internet and have gotten no where in my search for a mounting for the secondary hard drive bay in my laptop.  Anybody know where I can get one?
Also I've included pictures of the secondary drive bay and the primary bay.  From the looks of it I can't use the same type of mounting in the secondary bay as in the primary.

I have the same issue, and have found Toshiba support to be completely unacceptable on this.
After getting bumped around from sales to tech to sales because "we don't answer that question, you have to talk to the other guy", I finally got a "straight" answer from sales:
"Sir, we DO NOT sell that part, and therefore I CANNOT tell you a part or model number for the part you may need to install that second hard drive. The only thing you can do is talk to our parts supplier over at National Parts (1 800 524 8338) and ask them to provide you with the model numer or sell you the part."
At this point, I was annoyed, but thought that at least with a straight answer I could proceed.
After a very short hold time with National Parts, a very kind associate answered the phone and listened to my tale of woe. Unfortunately, she was unable to help and said:
"Unfortunately, sir, I have listed that while there is no caddy for the second hard drive slot on you X70-A specific model, there is supposed to be a mounting bracket. Unfortunately, we have been trying for MONTHS to have Toshiba give us the part number, spec, or any other information other than 'mounting bracket', and therefore I'm afraid we have neither a part to sell you nor a part number for you to go looking for one".
At this point annoyance is full-blown anger. How is it possible for Toshiba to make something that should be SO SIMPLE so VERY VERY VERY complicated and impossible.
"Sorry, if you didn't want to spring for the dual drives when you bought it, you're hosed forever sucker." Does not seem like an excellent customer service strategy.
This was the FIRST Toshiba I'd ever decided to spend my hard-earned money on, and now it's a machine I can't upgrade because they can't get their act together with their parts supplier or in-house over a 3 dollar bracket?
    UNACCEPTABLE.
The pictures the original poster shows are exactly what I have, no need to add more o fthe same.
    ANY help, Toshiba?

  • How do I reformat the second hard drive in the Mac Mini Server (Late 2012)?

In Disk Utility, I don't see the second hard drive, I only see the SSD that I installed myself in the main boot drive. How do I gain access to  reformat the second drive?

Did you reinstall the OS after you installed the SSD?
If so it would have created a Fusion drive that looks like one drive.
If you go to System Report, what shows under the SATA bus? You should see both the SSD and the HD if it is recognized to some degree.

  • How do I partition my second Hard Drive

I am wondering why my second hard drive that apple installed on my mac wont partition for use with windows.
I tried to partition the drive via Boot Camp Assistant and when I tell it to partition it sits there for hours saying its partitioning. I tried restarting and trying again. It just wont complete.
My next step was opening the disc utility and selecting the second hard drive and clicking partition. It still doesn't work. I get an error message saying
"Partition failed with the error: Filesystem resize support required, such as HFS+ with journaling enabled"
I took screen captures of the steps I took that are in these links

    http://gallery.me.com/calaberator/100029/Picture-207.jpg?derivative=medium&sourc e=web.jpg&type=medium&ver=12205459000001
It won't let me partition the disc. Does anyone have any recomendations?

    Okay!
Disk Utility is... weird ever since Leopard, and BootCamp Assistant... fine for iMac or MacBook but not as flexible as I like.
Sometimes you just have to restart Disk Utility, or at worst, restart. Sometimes after resizing partitions and such, you really do want to restart before using those partitions.
I've seen Disk Utility "lose communication" with a drive.
I don't like to use the last part of a drive.... for anything, it is the slowest inner tracks and less than half the performance.
If you don't have anything on it that you need and that is backed up, I would just go to Partition tab and start over.
Personally, I like to strip a drive of all partition tables and format it in Windows. Or set it as Master Boot Record, then create a couple FAT partitions which works for Vista installs but not for XP.
Vista needs at least 40GB and you want to leave room to add applications, restore points, and room for updates (a 500MB 'update' can unpack, write temp files, and use much more, as much as 7-10GB for Vista SP1 update, which you get back most of afterwards. And 2-3x the amount of RAM for pagefile and hibernation.
Try again, restart if necessary, and it really should.
When a drive is first formatted, it writes partition tables and has to test the first and last 100 sectors plus where the GPT and EFI partitions go, which shouldn't take more than 2 minutes. More than that, just kill it, quit Disk Utility and try again.
If you have never used the drive, consider doing a full zero-all from security options to erase it after you have it partitioned.

  • How do I use my second hard drive for storage, not back up?

Hi, I bought a second hard drive to store files (not back-up for my system), but when I moved some files over to drive two and then deleted the same files from drive one, they also deleted from the 2nd drive! Fortunately I could reverse the process and there was no loss, but what now? How do I disconnect the two so I can use the second as storage?
Thanks and happy Easter for those of you who celebrate it. Kate (Porter)

Whilst I normally drag files around, a copy and paste still should have created a replica on the destination drive.
That the second is mounted internally makes my describing it as an external drive inaccurate, but wouldn't cause the problem.
So that still leaves the scant possibility that the original source is itself an alias.
Was the copy and paste done in a Finder window or was it done via some other application's window?
I look forward to an update on this unusual event.

  • Recommendations for a second hard disc for my Inspiron 530 please

    Hi,
    I have a standard Inspiron 530.
My primary 320GB HDD drive is getting close to full and I want to add a second internal HDD.
My intention was to use the new drive as a secondary drive just to store and edit photos.
Can anyone recommend a compatible hard drive around 500GB in size that I can use.
Can you tell me if it a SATA drive that I need , recommended speed (RPM), and will I need to get any connectors etc.
Thanks in advance for your help and advice
    David

    providan
Assuming that you have the Inspiron 530 Mini Tower and not the 530s Slimline version.
You can install any SATA 3.5", 7200rpm internal hard drive up to 2tb without issue.
Check out the Seagate and Western Digital brands, also check the lenght of the manufacturer's warranty, unfortunately hard drives prices are extremely high, due to the Thailand flooding, drives I purchased last September for $40 with a promo, now cost $108.
Instructions for physically installing a second hard drive in a 530 are here.
You will need a SATA data cable there should be a spare SATA power connector inside the case.
After installing the drive enter the system setup and check that the hard drive is 'enabled' [on] and recognized.  System Setup.
For windows to recognize the second hard drive, it must be partitioned and formatted. Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Storage, Disk Management, right click new drive, select format, then you can assign a drive letter.

  • What packages to install, and how to install in an USB hard drive

    Hello.
Well, as I said in another thread, I want to install in an USB hard drive. But I don't know how, because it hasn't graphical installer, but text installer. I tried in a virtual machine, and it was fine, but when I want to start it, an error appears, "Was not found a bootable system" or something. Maybe a VM is not as a computer, but... well. I didn't change anything while I was installing GRUB, and I know that I've to install it in /dev/sdb.
And I want to know too, what packages to install and what packages don't (the ones which are neither "base" nor "base-devel"). But I'll install sudo, links and ndiswrapper (for wifi).
Thanks, and excuse me if my English is bad.

Gotta use the wiki my friend and this one is even translated into Spanish:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … C3%B1ol%29
As to your question about which packages you'll need beyond those in base and base-devel - that depends on what you want on your system... no one can answer that but you!
    Welcome to Arch.
