How to intercept RMI calls over JRMP?

Hi,
I would like intercept calls over RMI/JRMP to pass contextual data between client and server. I was able to do it for IIOP using Portable Interceptor but could not find any solution for JRMP.
Is there any other way to implicitly pass data between client and server?
Thanks,
Kapil

Not in JRMP. See JERI in the Jini project for an extensible protocol.
If you want full-strength RMI proxying see http://www.rmiproxy.com and contact me via the links there for more information on recently-developed products that address this need.

  • RMI protocol over JRMP transport error when accessing Discoverer Plus

    Hi,
    I just upgraded my Discoverer to 9.0.2.54.01. I can successfully access my Discoverer Viewer Workbooks but not my Discoverer Plus. When I try to access Plus, Applet will be started, and then it will prompt the RMI protocol error:
    Attempt 1.  RMI protocol over JRMP transport: Connection refused to host: 127.0.0.1; nested exception is:*
    java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect*
    Attempt 2.  RMI protocol over http transport : Unable to attach to existing session.*
    I used browsers Mozilla3.0.5 and IE7.
    Thanks!

    Hi Andy
    It could be a Java incompatibility issue. On one of your client machines try removing Java altogether and then reconnecting to Discoverer Plus. The server should send down a new, clean version of the Java.
    Try this and let me know how you get on

  • RMI Protocol over JRMP transport: connection refused to host: 10.10.10.10

    Hi,
    We migrated our Discoverer 9.0.2 to 10.1.2. However, when we connected to Discoverer Plus, the message saying "RMI Protocol over JRMP transport: connection refused to host: 10.10.10.10" appeared. We use the "Default" communication protocol and Sun JVM 1.4+ is installed in the client. Do you know what's happening?
    Thanks.

  • RMI Protocol over JRMP transport: connection refused

    I changed the look and feel for disco plus to Jinitiator. I then started getting error RMI Protocol over JRMP transport: connection refused to host: 192.168.1.1
    I changed the settings back to java plugin 1.4 but I'm still getting the same error on all client machines.
    I'm running windows 2003 and application server 10.1.2.0.2
    Thanks for any help,
    Brian

    Hi Brian
    When you changed to JInitiator what did you set the style to be? Also, why would you not want to use the Sun Java?
    Anyhow, try getting the users to clear their local Sun Java cache, this will release the applet causing it to reload upon next connection, and try again.
    If you want to retry JInitiator, try this:
    1. Go to Control Panel | JInitiator 1.3.1.x or whatever version you are using
    2. Navigate to the Proxies tab
    3. Uncheck Use Browser Settings
    4. Click the Apply button
    5. Close all browser windows
    6. Reconnect to Discoverer Plus
    If the above steps do not help, try editing the security details of the Options menu in the Internet Explorer using this workflow:
    1. On the client machine, launch IE
    2. From the toolbar, select Tools | Internet Options
    3. Navigate to the Security tab
    4. Click on the Trusted Sites icon
    5. Click on the Sites button
    6. Add a fully, qualified HTTP link to your server
    7. Close all browser windows
    8. Reconnect to Discoverer Plus
    Of the two solutions above, the first is most likely to fix your issue. However, I advise all my customers to set up the application server connections as being trusted sites.
    One additional thing would be to delete your cookies. Discoverer Plus loves cookies.
    Best wishes

  • How to intercept system calls in JVM?

    Hi, everyone. I am looking for a way to intercept system calls in JVM, a way do something like ptrace does in Linux. Because I wanna log all function calls a specified application made, and I may modify the arguments and the return value.
    And then i search the internet but nothing found except this article:
    [  http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Programming/jvmti/#Authors|  http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Programming/jvmti/#Authors]
    It's seems that JVMTI is a perfect tools to manipulate Java VM and i can achieve my goal with it. I download the sample code you written and modify a bit to adopt my environment (I use Linux and Sun JDK 6). It works well.
    And then I add a function to get stacktrace like the case in your article. I also read the sample code in JVMIT Refenerce, but it doesn't work.
    So, I am puzzled. I wanna know is there any way to intercept system calls in JVM? If JVMTI can do it, is there any tutorial or sample code to review? And, is that possible to use this way in J2ME?
    Thanks a lot :)
    Best Regard.

My program (written on C) just monitors all system calls from another program that I define as the parameter.

    I've written my shared library and defined LD_PRELOAD. But it doesn't help, cuz JVM, afaik, uses LD_PRELOAD for its own purposes, so
    I can't use my shared library.That of course is not what the poster of this thread wanted to do.

    server certificate directory.
    -update path for ServerCertificateChainFileName,
    ServerCertificateFileName, ServerKeyFileName into config.xml.
    -launch weblogicServer
         -> server certificate is recognized
         -> listening port 7001 and 7002.
    (-stop weblogicServer!)
    At now, all is all right, errors come hereafter:
    Then I follow the guideline "Programming weblogic Security" (version of 30/07/2001).
    "To use RMI over IIOP over SSL with a Java client, do the following:

    First off 1.4 isn't supported as yet. That is probably part of the problem.
    You also must use a corba URL from the client in order for this to work for instance:
    If you are using WLInitialContextFactory:
    corbaloc:iiop:localhost:7001/NameService
    If you are using CNCtxFactory:
    iiop://localhost:7001
    Using rmi: is the wrong thing to do - that will use jrmp or t3.
    However, I suggest that you raise a call with support since there is
    some other trickiness with getting SSL working. We hope to have this
    much improved in SP2.

  • How we can chcek reason of failed calls over PGW or MGW

    Dear All
    We are using PGW 2200 in Signalling mode with AS5400 as MGW to terminate call over TDM/PSTN. Can anybody let me know how we can check "why attempted call failed or reason of failed call from MGW level or PGW level.
    Here one thing i want to know we are not using any RADIUS server for log or billing. Please tell me how wecan chcek why & where call faield on MGW or PGW or far end operator side with reason.i chcked few document but no comnads i found to check failed reason of attempted calls..
    Please help me with this info.
    Thanks
    Amit--. .

    First of all you have to check C7 link state and CICs state
    1. Enter to  PGW host with username mgcusr
    2 Run mml
    3 Check active platform by command rtrv-ne
    4 Check  C7 link rtrv-c7lnk:all
       All C7 links must be in service: IS
    5 Check  CIC rtrv-tc:carrier10ss7svc1
       All CICs must be in Idle state
    If it is so then we can go to next steps.
    The best way to check reason of failed calls is to use the snooper utility.
    Login as root
    change directory to
    /opt/CiscoMGC/bin
    run utility
    ./snooper int bge0 ss7 itu 1-234-5 detail
    Where 1-234-5  - DPC of your carrier
    After that you will see a flood of ISUP messages.
    In REL message you can find the reason why your call attempt was failed.
    on MGW (if it is Cisco AS5xxx) you can run
    debug isdn q931 command on all trunks or on selected Dchannel: debug isdn q931 interface Dchannel x/x
    You will get isdn messages. In Disconnect message you can find the reason why your call attempt was failed.Good luck!

    Thanks
    Amit--. .

    Hi Amit,
    On the voice gateway you can use the command "show call history voice" to look for the relevant call and it will also tell you the disconnect cause/reason, and may give an indication whether the call disconnected from VoIP side or TDM side. If you don't find the call in there it means that the call didn't reach the voice gateway in the first place. Depending on the call direction this means the call dropped in the PSTN, or in the PGW, or in the rest of the VoIP network.
    If you suspect the PGW, there is no quick and easy command to check why a particular call dropped. Probably the best approach in that case is to capture the problematic call in a Unix snoop trace, making sure you capture the ISUP as well as the ISDN leg of the call and then analyze the trace using Wireshark.
    More advanced PGW call tracing can be done using the MML "sta-sc-trc" command, but to interprete the resulting call trace you may need the PGW expertise of a TAC engineer.
    Sincerely,
    Dirk Christeaens

  • RMI call back - How to refer to the client project from the server project?

    Hi, I am working on an RMI assignment which basically needs me to use the RMI call back for the server to notify the clients.
    I have 2 projects , one for the client and another for the server.
    In the client project, I have a client interface and the main client class implements this interface.
    In the server project, I have a server interface and a class that implements this interface.
    I can use the server interface in the client project's code by adding the server project in the path of the client project. it lets me use the server interface in the code if I put "import.." statement.
    But the issue is I can not do the same to access the client interface from within the server project's code. Since that will be a circular reference, the compiler does not let me use the client interface from within the server's code. This is putting me in a great difficulty and I am stuck here. What should I do so that I can use the client interface and the compiler won't complain?
    Thanks for any help..
    Regards.. js

    Let me explain what I tried: I manually generated stub class of the client using the Eclipse IDE as mentioned in my previous message. The StockMSClient_Stub.class got created in my client project.
    The common project has the 2 interfaces - one from the client and one from the server.
    I have added reference to the common project from the client and server projects to use the interfaces.
    With the above mentioned in place, when I run the server project, the registry binding of the server objects is very fine. But I am getting error in the applet at the line where I am passing the client object to the method provided by the server interface. The following is the code snippet in the applet where I am getting the error.
    specifically the line: String response = objs.login(userId, password, smsClient);     ====================
    public void login() {
                Registry reg = null;
                String userId = "test";
                String password = "test";
                this.smsClient = new StockMSClient();
                try {
         reg = LocateRegistry.getRegistry(rmiHost,rmiPort);
                          UserInterface obj = (UserInterface) reg.lookup(rmiStrings
                                                                                                                        [1]);
         User u = obj.find(userId);
         if (u == null) {
              System.out.println("This user is not valid");
         } else {
                         UnicastRemoteObject.exportObject(smsClient);
         reg = LocateRegistry.getRegistry(rmiHost, rmiPort);
         LoginLogoutInterface objs = (LoginLogoutInterface) reg
                                   .lookup(rmiStrings[0]);
                        //getting error at the following line.
                        String response = objs.login(userId, password, smsClient);
                         System.out.println("response :" + response);
               } catch (AccessException ae) {
                       System.out.println(ae);
               } catch (NotBoundException nbe) {
                      System.out.println(nbe);
               } catch (RemoteException re) {
                      System.out.println(re);
    } //end login()====================
    Error is:
    java.rmi.ServerException: RemoteException occurred in server thread; nested exception is:
         java.rmi.UnmarshalException: error unmarshalling arguments; nested exception is:
         java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: sms.rmi.graphics.StockMSClient_Stub (no security manager: RMI class loader disabled)================
    I don't know why this is happening..Please help.
    thanks & regards, js

  • NAPT Firewall, RMI Callbacks and JRMP MultiplexProtocol

    Hi All,
    I am looking at having an RMI client behind a Network Address Port Translation firewall receive RMI calls back from an RMI server. NAPT makes it impossible for the client to listen for connection coming from the server through the NAPT firewall.
    This is discussed at http://www.rmiproxy.com and http://cssassociates.com/rmifirewall.html but the proposed solutions do not appear to use the MultiplexProtocol protocol defined by JRMP (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/rmi/spec/rmi-protocol3.html).
    The RMI FAQ
    "How can I receive incoming RMI calls through a local firewall"?
    (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/rmi/faq.html#firewallIn) had a section for JSSE 1.3 that explained how to use the multiplex protocol (option 4). It sounds like this option referred to the JRMP MultiplexProtocol protocol.
    The multiplex protocol option has been removed from the 1.4 FAQ
    (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/rmi/faq.html#firewallIn).
    Tried the "checkListen" and "socket factory" techniques mentioned in the 1.3 FAQ without success with 1.4.2. The RMI client behind the NAPT firewall runs in a signed Applet.
    Is the ability of using the JRMP MultiplexProtocol protocol available in the JRE in order to receive incoming RMI calls through a local firewall? If yes, what do you do in order to use it?
    What is the best way to have RMI callbacks work behind NAPT?
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Cheers
    Bertrand

    As of about JDK 1.2.2, the ability of RMI clients to negotiate the multiplex protocol was
    removed, but the server-side support remains.
    Your best answer for negotiating NAT filrewalls may be the RMI Proxy http://www.rmiproxy.com, although I could be biased as I wrote it.

  • Voice/video calling over BBM is no longer available for OS 10.3.1.1565

    After updating to OS 10.3.1.1565 for my BB Passport voice/video calling over BBM is no
    longer available. I CANNOT MAKE VOICE OR VIDEO CALLS OVER BBM neither I CAN RECEIVE CALLS
    OVER BBM. I do use voice calling over bbm on a daily basis and I feel like I am now without
    my phone!
    I did update ALL the application offered for the update. Right now there are NO applications
    available for the update - all are up-to-date.
    BB World indicates I use BBM 10.6.4.10. I did REFRESH BB World with no changes. Yet NO UPDATES
    are offered.
    When I select the BBM application in BB World among the list of Installed application it
    says in red color "Unavailable for this device".
    I see some use BBM 10.6.5.10. Are there troubles with voice/video calling over BBM for
    10.6.5.10 & OS 10.3.1.1565?
    Maybe the bug is with BB World that is to be updated itself? But it does not offer me to
    update one.
    Does anyone have an idea how to fix that?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I wish I new how to update
    I have purchased yesterday BB Classic for my wife and also updated OS for it.
    BBM works flawlessly with OS 10.3.1.1565 and preinstalled BBM 10.5.15.19. However its also indicates in red that the application is "Unavailable for this device".
    Anyone from Blackberry, would you please suggest how to update BBM in my case?! It is that vital for me.
    Thanks.

  • RMI call to java in Oracle 8i

    We need to access stored Java classes inside the Oracle 8i (8.1.7) database using RMI from a remote machine. Is this possible? How?
    Basically we have stored PL/SQL procedures/packages we want to create interfaces for (Using JPiblisher) and access them remotely via RMI.

    We need to access stored PL/SQL packages from outside the database via RMI. That's the requirement. First we need to wrap the PL/SQL packages with Java classes (JPublisher can help us here). Then there are, in my opinion, three possible ways to achieve this:
    - direct Java RMI calls
    - CORBA
    - EJB
    Because I need to evaluate all ways, I am just trying the 1st ( I know, not scalable) way - direct RMI calls. I can do a direct RMI call from the database to an outside server. That works fine. My problem is the other way round, to call an object inside 8i. I understand that using CORBA or EJB the Oracle ORB is used (handled by the TNS Listener). Using a direct RMI call I would need to run the RMIREGISTRY program (inside or outside 8i?)...But I have no clue, how this could work.
