How to invoke database trigger

Hi
I am using jdev11.1.2.1.0
I want to fire a trigger on action property of command button in adf.
Please provide the solution ASAP
Thanks

Use
exec dbms_job.submit(:bind_variable,
'procedure_name', sysdate, 'interval')
where interval = sysdate + 1 means fire everyday, sysdate + 1/1440 means fire every minute and so on.

  • Database adapter: how to invoke database functions

    Hi there,
    i'm new in this forums. My name is Giulio and i work in Italy.
    I'm trying to invoke a database functions inside a bpel process.
    The function is very simple, this is the source code:
    create or replace function FNC_WriteSailing(PEventCode in varchar2, PXML In sys.xmltype) return number is
    begin
    Insert Into table_with_xml_column (filename, xml_document)
    Values (PEventCode, PXML);
    Commit;
    return(1);
    Exception When Others Then Return (0);
    end FNC_WriteSailing;
    I've tried to invoke functions withe only primitive data type as parameter. But i'm not able to invoke functions with CLOB or XMLTYPE parameter.
    I'm using jdeveloper version 11.1.1.4.0
    Could anyone help me? Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    you're not able to invoke them or you don't see them in the browser of the wizard of the db adapter?
    you should see them in there

    Hi,
    The only way I could figure out how to get it was to import the com.sap.security.api.
    1. From Window>Preferences>Java-->Classpath Variables, set up a variable called WEBAS_HOME pointing to:
    <drive>/usr/sap/<SID>/jc00/j2ee/cluster/server0/
    2. Right click on properties of your Dynpro Project->Properties->Java Build Path->Libraries and click "Add Variable."
    3. Select WEBAS_HOME and click "Extend"
    4. Select /bin/ext/com.sap.api.sda/com.sap.security.api.jar and click OK.
    If you don't have access to a portal directory, you will have to get this jar file and copy it to your workspace to add to your build path instead of the above steps.
    Then in your code:
    import com.sap.security.api.IUser;
    import com.sap.security.api.IUserAccount;
      public void GetLogonID( )
         String LogonID;
         try {
              /*     create an user object from the current user */
              IWDClientUser wdUser = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser();
              IUser user = wdUser.getSAPUser();
              if (user != null) {
                   IUserAccount acct = user.getUserAccounts()[0];
                   if (acct != null) {
                        LogonID = acct.getLogonUid();
                   } else
                        LogonID = "acct null";
              } else {
                   LogonID = "user null";
              wdContext.currentContextElement().setDisplayName(user.getFirstName() + " " + user.getLastName());
              wdContext.currentContextElement().setLogonID(LogonID.toUpperCase());
         } catch (Exception e) {
              e.printStackTrace();
    Hope this helps...  I had to search several places before I found all the necessary stuff.  Maybe I can get my first points!
    Thanks,

  • How can I obtain an specific message raised by a database trigger

    Dear friends,
    if I have a database trigger and I want to show an error message which was raised from a database trigger to a form, I can do it by raising an application error inside database trigger, and by showing DBMS_ERROR_TEXT inside ON-ERROR trigger. This is ok for me.
    But how can I do if I want to show a specific message? Let's say I have a BEFORE INSERT table trigger, and I want to verify whether data was correctly informed (for example, "user name must be entered"). If I raise an application error, I see a very big error message which includes both my personal error message and database message.
    Surely I can do a SUBSTR in this message, but can't I do something easier? Let's say I put all error messages in a variable:
    (Let's suppose it's a BEFORE INSERT trigger code, which is related to my table)
    if :NEW.user_name is null then
    p_error_message := 'User name must be entered.';
    end if;
    if p_error_message is not null then
    raise_application_error (-20000, p_error_message);
    end if;
    ... with this p_error_message being shown to final user, with no need to edit it via PL/SQL instructions like SUBSTR. Is this possible? If not, I'll be quite satisfied with SUBSTR because it fits my needs somehow.
    Best regards,

    raise_application_error will be used for raise errors on form.here i'm providing u the example
    CREATE TRIGGER at AFTER UPDATE OR DELETE OR INSERT ON emp
    for each row
    declare
    v_1 number
    begin
    select empno into v_1 from emp where empno=7369 ;
    exception when no_data_found then
    RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(-20001,'No data found'||sqlerrm);
    END;
    now when you insert data on emp table through form. if value does not found of selected empno then No data found will be shown on form

  • How to send error message to forms from Database Trigger

    Hi, Please help me to send error message to forms from Database Trigger?
    RgDs,
    Madesh.R.M

    You are correct, the On-Error trigger is a Forms trigger. However, if your Form is going to display the error generated by the database stored procedure or trigger - you might not see the database error in your Form unless you check the DBMS_ERROR_CODE in the On-Error trigger and manually display the Error Code and associated Text. I've see this happen with a co-worker. The Form she was working on was based on a table with an Before-Insert trigger. Because she was not explicitely handling the error from the Before-Insert trigger in the Forms On-Error trigger, her Form appeared to halt for no reason at all. Once she added code to the On-Error trigger in the Form to handle the DBMS_ERROR_CODE, she discovered the trigger was producing an error and was able to show the error to the user in the On-Error trigger.
    I understand the desire to keep as much as possbile in the database, but with that comes some extra coding in your Forms to handle this. This extra coding could easily be placed in a Forms Library, attached to a Form and called in the On-Error trigger. Your code could look like this:
    DECLARE
       /*This example assumes you have an Alert defined
          in your Form called: 'ERROR' */
       al_id    ALERT;
       al_text  VARCHAR2(200);  /* Max text of a Forms Alert message*/
       al_btn   NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    IF DBMS_ERROR_CODE != 0 THEN
       /* Error code is ORA-00000 Normal Successful completion
           So only handle non-zero errors  */
       al_text := DBMS_ERROR_CODE||':'||DBMS_ERROR_TEXT;
       al_id := Find_Alert('ERROR');
       set_alert_property(al_id, alert_message_text, al_text);
       al_btn := show_alert(al_id);
    END IF;
    END;Your original question was "How to send error message to forms from Database Trigger?" The answer is you don't because Forms already gets the database error code and database message through the Forms DBMS_ERROR_CODE and DBMS_ERROR_TEXT functions. Look these up in the Forms help and it should clear things up for you.

  • Invoke Report From Database trigger

    Hi,
    Is it possible to invoke a report from a database trigger?
    The requirement is to start a report after a record was inserted in a table.
    Thank you,
    Alex.

    Hi
    I was looking for exactly the same thing. I need to invoke a report in response to an update in the database. To make things even more complicated, I want to send the report to an email add. Is that something anyone has already taken a look at? Any help appreciated.

  • How to handle Database's trigger

    Greetings,
    i have an application on JDeveloper 11.1.2.4.0. At some point the user add new customer and its been saved to the database.
    Because the application may be used in more than 1 shop, i have created a 2nd database, only for biography uses and history,
    so it can be view by all shops. What i did is, when a new record is inserted into application's biography table, i also have a trigger
    that after the row is inserted, i also insert the new row into my 2nd database. In both databases a primary key exists to avoid duplicated id's.
    I was hoping instead of handling duplicated records on trigger, the database will handle it (if duplicated records exists, just dont save it at all),
    but my problem now is, its throw me a proper exception
    ORA-00001: unique constraint (PERSONAL_RECORD.BIOGR_PK) violated ORA-06512: at "ELAB.SAVE_BIOGR", line 11 ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger 'ELAB.SAVE_BIOGR' ORA-06512: at line 1
    AND it does not save the biogr on the 1st database either. I do not understand what the trigger have to do with the first database since its after insert row method and not before.
    It should insert the record into the database, then fire the trigger, throw an exception and dont save the record in 2nd database. But instead the record its been saved nowhere..
    The case is: user fields some text boxes for a new customer, i check if the id is already exists in the 2nd database, and i notify the user that this new customer already exists in
    the personal record database (2nd database, 1 common database for all shops), and i ask the user if he/she wants to synchronize or use the current fields. If synchronize, i take the record
    from the 2nd database and insert them into the 1st. If not, i insert them into the 1st database, and thats when the trigger should handle the duplicate row exception, not my application.
    Is there a way i can temporally turn off database trigger from my adf application or i can handle the exception BUT the record be save on the 1st database? because if the exception its been
    thrown, the new record its gone.
    thanks in advance for any help.

    True, since i can't handle the trigger procedure, i add an exception inside of it. So it will do something when the exception occurs BUT it will save the customer
    in 1st database. Here is my trigger code:
    create or replace TRIGGER SAVE_BIOGR
    AFTER INSERT
       ON ELAB.BIOGR
       FOR EACH ROW
    DECLARE
       v_username varchar2(10);
    BEGIN
       SELECT user INTO v_username
       FROM dual;
       INSERT INTO PERSONAL_RECORD.BIOGR
       ( ID,
         NAME,
         SNAME,
         USERNAME )
       VALUES
       ( :NEW.ID_PATIENTS,
         :NEW.NAME,
         :NEW.SNAME,
         v_username);
        EXCEPTION
        WHEN DUP_VAL_ON_INDEX THEN
        UPDATE PERSONAL_RECORD.BIOGR SET ERROR = 'ALREADY EXIST';
    END;
    I add update on exception because leaving it blank or with comment in THEN section it gave me an error i dont know why. So i just
    include a dump update procedure.

  • How to specify when clause in a database trigger

    I would like to create a database trigger that only fires on database create statements. In particular, it only needs to fire when tables with a specific prefix fire.
    I'd like to be able to specify something in the when clause along the lines of :
    CREATE OR REPLACE
    TRIGGER CAPTURE_STATS
         after CREATE ON rtrei.schema
         WHEN ( NEW.table_name like 'RT_FOO%' )
    begin
    add_stats_capture( :new.min_range, :new.max_range);
    end;
    It looks like I should be able to use a when as part of a database trigger, but I have no idea what new would be defined to be so that I could use it... perhaps it is an object and the clause would look something like
    when (new.objecttype = 'TABLE' and new.name like 'RT_FOO%')?
    Any ideas? I've searched through the docs, but have not been able to find anything relevant.
    thanks very much,
    Robin

    You can use the WHEN clause with DDL triggers. You can move Todd's IF-THEN clause up into the WHEN clause.
    See http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/appdev.101/b10795/adfns_ev.htm for all of the System-Defined Event Attributes.
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER capture_stats
    AFTER CREATE ON SCHEMA
    WHEN (ora_dict_obj_type = 'TABLE' AND ora_dict_obj_name LIKE 'RT_FOO%')
    BEGIN
            --Do whatever here.
    END capture_stats;

    awaiting for your response,
    Thanks in advanceI'm sorry, but "showing some error" is NOT an actionable error message. Why do you think we can solve your error if you don't tell us what the error is?
    Yes you will need to adjust your tnsnames. When a process in a database_A accesses database_B via a dblink in database_A, the database_A is acting as a client to database_B. At that point database_A is just like sqlplus or sqldeveloper, and all tns considerations are the same.

  • How to invoke a Java Program from Oracle 10g?(uRGENT)

    Hello.
    I've a query, that i have a program, that basically retreives the records from the
    oracle table and then parser this information and then insert the values in corresponding database base tables. I want that, whenever the new program is inserted, a Trigger should fire and pass the most recently entered record to the Parser Program, means
    1) Firing a Trigge
    2)Storing the most latest data and pass it to the Parser PROGRAM
    Can someone tell me how to do this? How to invoke a Java Program from within the database? Please if anyone has examples provide me. Its very urgent and tell me what is the basic mechanism.
    Thankyou.

  • Multiple Rows Update / Refresh Toplink Query when database trigger involved

    Hi everybody!
    I have two easy troubles for you; the platform is the same as the SRDemo Toplink version.
    1.     Multiple Rows Update: I want to update with mergeEntity method, multiple rows for an isolated table; that method receives a parameter that I try to bind with the iterator "dataProvider" but it only merges the first row, not all, any other combination returns an error.
    What I want to do is to have a form (like tabular forms in Apex) that lets me update multiple rows in a single page. ¿May anyone tell me how to do it?
    2.     Refresh Toplink Named Query: I have a list on a page with two columns. From another page, a button does an action that fires a database trigger that updates one of the columns on the list´s page. When I go back to the list, it is not updated; however, the CacheResults´s property is set to false on the iterator.
    Thanks in advance,
    Alejandro T

    I didn't use it (yet), but - you might take a look. You'll find a [url http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/application-express/apex-plug-ins-182042.html]Timer plug-in on this page. It is a dynamic action which allows you to periodically fire other dynamic actions in the browser. For example use the timer to refresh a region every five minutes. You can perform any dynamic action you want using this infrastructure.So I was thinking: you might use it to run a dynamic action which would check whether something changed in that table (I suppose you'll know the way) (for example, a database trigger might set a flag in some table, timestamp or similar), and - if you find that something really changed - refresh the page.
    As I said, I never used it so that's pure theory. Someone else might know better, though.

  • Primary Key - Generated by database TRIGGER

    Hi,
    I have a form with a block that is attached to a table. So far, nothing fancy :-)
    The Primary is generated with an ORACLE SEQUENCE. That is done at the TABLE level with a DATABASE trigger.
    So in the form, the primary field is not populated.
    Works fine. But if the user wants to UPDATE the forms content, right after they did an INITIAL commit, THEY CAN'T !!!!!!!!!!!
    How can I code this in the form?
    Is there a way to syncronize (populate) the primary key in the form with it's table content?
    If so, how do I query the table if I don't have the primary key value ?
    Thanks for ANY advise,
    Marc.

    Another solution is to use both a database trigger and a PRE-INSERT trigger in Forms.
    The database trigger should be something like
    CREATE TRIGGER INS_TABLENAME BEFORE INSERT ON TABLENAME
    FOR EACH ROW WHEN (new.ID IS NULL)
    BEGIN
    SELECT TABLENAME_SEQ.nextval INTO :new.ID FROM DUAL;
    END;
    and the PRE-INSERT trigger should be something like:
    SELECT TABLENAME_SEQ.nextval INTO :blockname.ID FROM DUAL;
    This way one solves the problem of DML RETURNING VALUE not working in Forms with Oracle version > 8 (does it work on version 8 as it is said to be? - i have not tested it anyway) and the use of other applications (SQL*Plus, JAVA, etc) without writing any code.
