How to isolate one audio or video track?

How to isolate one audio or video track? My premiere pro cc will only allow me to grab all 8 audio tracks and the video tracks at once when i import it and bring them into the timeline. When I click on one it highlights them all.

It helps to indicate what version of Premiere you have and whether you're on Mac or Windows.
If you're on 7.0.1 or later, then disable the Linked Selection button in the Timeline. It's the button to the right of the magnet (Snap). If you frequently want to toggle between linked and unlinked selection, you can assign a shortcut to the command
Also, you can select any track item by holding ALT while clicking. To select multiple individual track items (e.g., A3, A5, & A7 for a given clip), hold ALT+SHIFT while clicking.
And I believe Sarthak meant "Unlink" rather than "Ungroup." A/V clips are linked by default, so Unlink is generally available. Ungroup will be available only if what's selected is a set of clips that you manually grouped.

  • Scripting: How To Tell Between Audio and Video Track?

When I create a collection of tracks from the main library and iterate through them, I get everything (in my case, video and audio tracks - no podcasts or TV shows as of yet). In checking the "Kind" class, they all have a value of "1".
How can I tell if a track I'm looking at is audio or video? Also, when I do start downloading podcasts and/or TV shows, is there a way to differentiate them also?
    Thanks

goodness, yes, youve got one of those OLD WD drives that has the controller board AND USB all as ONE SINGLE UNIT

Yeah it does, it tells me its one of those OLD HD that was made with the "lets save 2 cents and make it all one piece" philosophical designs.

  • How do I command a single video track (with many clips) to an action?

    Hi,
This is my first post in this forum, and I am a beginner on FCE.
I want to take one of my video tracks and reduce the size to 1/4 and put it in the upper right corner of the screen. I want my screen split into 4 equal sections. My first track has many edit points, and I cannot seem to command the whole track to stay put in the upper right corner of the screen.
I can do it if I choose each clip in the track individually (and size it manually) but not all at once. How do I do the track all at once?
    Thanks,
    humbucker237

    Hi(Bonjour)!
You can set the scale to 25% for the first clip in timeline and place in the the upper right corner of the canvas, select it in timeline and use COMMAND-C to copy it.
Now select all remaining clips in timeline and use the paste attributes--motion command to set the scale to 25% for all clip and place them correctly.
    OR
    Use nested sequence.
Simply create a new sequence (S2) and drag your edited one (S1) (at full scale and position set to 0,0) in the new one. That's the nesting process.
From this step, ALT-double-click this sequence (S1) in timeline to open it in viewer and set the scale and position value.

  • MP4 movie error: No audio and video tracks found.

I recently move all my movies to a better performance hard drive. I imported the movies or playlists to iTunes. All movies were playing flawlessly until one day I get the dialog "Can't access file" ... I tried several things I encounter on this communities but the files still not played.
I can see all the files with their size on the hard drive, but when I try to imported or drag to iTunes, they simply not appear or they don't import at all.
In one of my test I found a dialog appear indicating "Error opening file: No audio or video tracks found" ...
I need the way to fix this situation, since I have over 500 movies on that drive. Would somebody help me ???
My email is [email protected], just in case you want to help me directly.
I can even pay a nice reward to the person who help me fix this issue. Seriously.

What is a better performance hard drive and what operating system? Kind of sounds like this should be posted to the morons over at Power Mac forum and the bozo that moderates it

  • How do I synchronise audio and video with an mpg file created in elements 11 ?

How do I synchronise audio and video with an mpg file created in Premier Elements 11 ?
The source files are VOB files, and there is no problem with those source files.  But after creating the mpg file, the audio can be out of sync by 1 second or even 10 seconds, and sometimes zero seconds (ie perfectly OK).  That varies.  The variation might be linked to some of the VOB files.  ie. some are OK, and some are not.
Can I fix this automatically in Elements 11, or am I doing something wrong ?

    Hartwood,
First, Premiere (both Pro and Elements) do not handle MPEG Audio perfectly - they like some files, but not all files with MPEG Audio. That makes a VOB a less-than-perfect source file. Still, with a bit of work, one should be able to edit it just fine. One of the factors is that there is a very slight block-size difference between the Encoded Video Stream and the Encode Audio Stream in a muxed MPEG-2 file. That often does not play into things, but can cause slight OOS (Out of Sync) issues. Also, both Premieres need to create all I-Frame files for the Video Stream, which is in GOP (Group of Pictures) structure, so what one sees on the Timeline is really a proxy of the MPEG-2 file's Video Stream. The Audio Stream must also be Conformed to PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 32-bit floating point, to be edited. That Conforming is perfect when one has PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit for the Audio Stream, but requires more work, when the Audio Stream is MPEG (one reason that some MP3's do not work well in Premiere). Several factors involved here, and a fair amount of work for the program. That is why DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio works so perfectly.
Now, fixing OOS might be easy, or might require a bit more work. This article goes into some workflows, that might be helpful: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/436751?tstart=0
I can feel your pain, as I almost went crazy trying to fix OOS in a client's Project. They ONLY had the finished DVD, from which to work. The disc met the DVD-standards, so everything ripped/Imported fine, and when the simple edits were done (IIRC, there were four scenes, that had to be shortened, and then several Titles added), everything played fine in the Timeline. However, when I Transcoded that Timeline to be authored in Adobe Encore, two scenes went OOS. I went back to Premiere, and checked - all perfect there. I tried to judge the number of Frames that the Audio was out, in those scenes, and nudged them, tested, nudged, tested, and no matter what I did, I could never get the output files perfect, when Imported into Encore for authoring to DVD-Video. I tried DV-AVI, and letting Encore set the Transcoding automatically (usually a great way to work), I tried manually setting the Transcoding in Encore. I tried outputting to MPEG-2 from Premiere, and Importing that. No matter what I did, those two scenes were just OOS, and I could not even seem to improve them - it was like they were just locked OOS. I finally did some more editing, to break things up a bit, added a cut-away shot here, and there, and minimized the perceived OOS, but could never get it perfect. It was like trying to pick up quicksilver with a pair of tweezers!
    Good luck,

  • Step 1 - how does one create a video track in FCP X?

Just purchased FCP X & wow ... sparing all the rants I've been hearing, I'm sure it can do what I'm looking for, just that all the features are now hidden from view.
Step 1 - anyone know how to create additional video tracks?

Tried that & a Pandora's box of other questions opened up. Doing some research, watching videos, etc... just need to scrap most/all knowledge of previous FCP versions & start from scratch with this new interface philosophy it would seem.
One other symptom that seems disturbing: sometimes activiating a feature does not activate a feature.
Example, I wanted to silence the audio while skimming, so unchecked "audio skimming" in the view menu.
    Audio still plays while skimming.
Decided to try unchecking all four options at the bottom of the view menu (skimming, clip skimming, audio skimming, snapping).
    Nothing changed.
I can still skim clips, and audio still plays.
    Why would this happen?

  • How to lock audio to video track?

If I place a video track on the timeline, the audio comes along and is automatically locked with the video track. If I want to add a NEW audio track (recorded separately), there doesn't seem to be a way to lock that audio with the video track once it's synced. Or am I missing something?

Select the video & audio tracks and then do *Modify > Link*
And to double-protect the sync'ing, put a marker on each of the video & audio tracks at a common point (playhead at the same point in the timeline) so that if they ever get separated it will be easier to line them back up.

  • In elements 10 audio and video tracks loaded but appear to be blank

running windows 7 with elements premiere 10... i have my audio and video loaded in the session but the tracks, 2 video with audio and one audio only track, appear to have no info. they play, but i cant see the wave file image.  i need to see the file and be able to zoom in so i can line it up for syncing.  i had at least the audio showing up at first, but somehow that seemed to disappear now? how do i fix this?

    sadworld4804
The wave representation that you seek is in the pek file of the cfa and pek set for the audio. Did you let your audio go to completion for audio conforming before starting any work on the project?
But, I am suspecting something else which is easy to remedy and hope this is it.
    1. Look to the left where it says track name, Audio 1, to see a speaker icon. You can toggle that to get 2 different "Audio Track Display Styles"
    and
Please let us know if that was the issue, that is, the toggle choice for the "Audio Track Display Style".
    Thanks.

  • Audio and video track strangeness

    Hi,
I have a few camera angles that have 4 audio tracks associated with them, and other camera angles that are just one track...
I was attempting to stack all of my camera angles in fcp, so that I could sync the audio up for the various angles, and then cut between them and drag various pieces to the top video track (I assume this is a standard way of working).
Anyway, so the problem I was experiencing was, I had one video track with one audio track, and then the next video track above that had 4 audio tracks connected to it... So if I tried to take a slice of the 1st video track, and move it to the next track, the audio would go ontop of one of the 4 tracks....
I thought I could solve this by locking the video and deleting 3 of the audio tracks so everything would just have 1 audio channel (I dont need the other 3 for my editing purposes)... However, it still causes the audio to behave oddly and jump 2 tracks rather than one....
How do I fix this?? I don't even understand what is really happening here.
    -p

Hmm after looking at it, it seems that what's happening is even though 1 audio track is assigned to each video track, FCP thinks that there should be 2 audio tracks? So when I move a video track to the next video channel, the audio is moving down two audio tracks instead of one...
Ok, so atleast I do understand WHAT is happening, I just don't know why.

  • Audio and Video tracks don't go up/down together EVEN when linked selection is checked!

I'm sure this is something really simple but I just can't figure it out. And it must be a button or a option that I've checked because it didn't use to do that a few days ago.
Basically, I have a clip on the timeline which has a video and an audio track. I want to move the video clip up to the next video track but I want the audio to move down to the next audio track too. Right now it's not doing that. Only the video file moves up to the next track and the audio clip remains in the same track. How do I fix that so that however many tracks I move the video up by the audio goes down by that same number of tracks?

    Hi Shooternz,
    shooternz wrote:
Not sure how other NLES manage it but I think it would be a pain if audio  automatically followed video in this respect.  eg Blocked layers b'cos something is already there.
FCP &, and earlier behaved that way. I prefer the way Premiere Pro does it. You often do not need to move the audio to a different track when you move video to another track. I want to control the placement of audio and video separately now.
    Thanks,

  • Grouping Audio and Video tracks?

    iMovie HD:
When I insert new clips or edit existing ones, my imported audio tracks lose sync with the clips that come after the place of edit. I am continuously manually re-aligning the audio which is very time consuming.
Is there a way to group or link Audio and video so the that imported audio will stay in sync with my clips?
I understand that it may not be possible for the clip I am working on, but what about the clips after the clip I'm editing?

  • Locking Audio and Video Tracks in CS6 Tip

I discovered, again on accident :-) that if you hold down the shift key and select the Lock Track Icon on the audio or video, it locks, and unlocks all the tracks.
Works with selecting the "eyeball" icon, selecting all tracks and turning audio on or off for all tracks too
I found this pretty helpful on the project I am working on.

That's great. A simple adjustment and it works like a charm. Voila! One click of the mouse and the locks all snap like a year old bagel.
Thanks once more for your help, Tom.

How can you rip audio from a video using Itunes 11.1?  I am using a pc win 8

  • How to trim Music to match Video track

I recorded the video of a concert without audio with my camera and the sound I recorded with professionals mics. Now I want to add the sound to the video. The problem is, that I hardly can find the right position where the movie should start, when I trim the Music. The Music track is over an hour and when I move a little bit forward with the mouse the Video track begins too late and vice versa.
I noticed, that I can click and hold down the mouse on the Music track in the trimming window afar from the yellow borders and when I then move the mouse backwards the yellow border at the beginning of the track moves to the left. When I move forwards with the mouse the yellow border follows to the right until he reaches the old position. What for is this? Can I use this to position the Video track exactly on the Music track?
Is there a way to lock the pointer while trimming the music?
Can I cut the Music track in several pieces?
