How to know dimension of a swf file

I need to put up some swf file to the web site. The swf files
are downloaded from our provider's site. We didn't got any Flash
tools. I know the swf could be resize, but I want the swf just fit
in a <table>. Therefore, I need to know the original
dimension or the aspect ratio of the swf files.
Does the free flash player got any help? Or any freeware
could do the same thing? Could native Active Server Page (ASP)
detect the ratiio?

If you're using AIR, I believe you can use the
FileSystemDataGrid control (see

It would make it easier on me if I changed some things around and didn't have to do it all myself each time I used it. If I understand correctly, Sonic Kaboom.swf needs to be edited in a separate Flash authoring program and then reinserted into your HTML document.
As Murray said, Flash is dead. Nobody uses it anymore.   We use HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript animations which have universal support from Smartphones, Tablets and other web devices that can't support Flash.   Look at Edge Animate.

You need the fla file that created the swf. You edit the fla and publish the swf. Swf's don't usually involve css styles.

Yes there is some, called stat(), look the links in your post in stack overflow, there is a lot of link in the anser.
They talk about sys/stat.h a C header, witch contain the stat() function.
stat() return a lot of things (size, changes, access etc) about files. look the "here" everywhere in the Yann anser, UP his anser and put the subject as resolved.

There is another point:
if you are using JPEG images together with SWF as output file format, you could get smaller images by:
1. using the Export For Web menu for generating size optimized JPEGs in PhotoShop opposed to Save As JPEG
2. stripping all color management (ICC) information off the files (SWF is not very good in color management besides sRGB, I think…)

The easiest way is by targeting the Loader object.
l.visible = false;
or
removeChild(l);
will both work. And you can make it visible again if need be using the opposite of those commands.

my requirement is to open a pdf/xls/swf in a popup. howcan i get a poup with pdf/xls/swf files . presently i am using a servlet.I set the content type in the servlet as application/pdf and so on..
I am getting data as byte stream from the data base.know how to give this bytestream/response object of the servlet to the panel window.

My own popup (with a dialog and an internalFram in it) does not get invoked at all.

How do i stop loading a swf file which is still in progress.

the first swf wont stop loading and both the swfs start playing

now when the swf file loades it starts loading a Sound(mp3)

You can use swf inside of another swf.
If you are using Actionscript2 then learn about LoadMovie
And for AS3 it is Loader.

How to know a line of text file is ending with line feed or return?

hi all, i have a program that read log file that generated by other service (apache http server for example), i want to know that each line is ending with "\r", "\n" or "\r\n" so i can skip them in the next time, like this:

}and the next time read the log file, i will skip all the lines that read in previous time.

Alright, the BufferedReader method readLine() reads all text until it finds a \n character. And then next time you call it it will automatically continue from where it left out.
try this out it should show it as an example

How to call method in another swf file

Hi. I am at the moment making a website in Flash 8. The
website consists of a main file with the buttons and then
additional files for each page. Each of the buttons uses code
similar to this:
content.loadMovie("home page.swf");
where content is the movieclip I am using to load the swf
file into. In the main file I have a search box where a user can
type some search terms. I have written some code that will search
through the text field(s) on the page and highlight any words that
appear matching the search terms. The only problem is that I cannot
get to the text fields on the other files. So what I want to be
able to do is attach some code to the search button that will call
a method in another swf file using the parameters that I the user
has specified in the search box. How would I go about doing this?

Place functions in the external swf. Then you can call them
through the container clip
content.yourFunction(args);
Realize however, you cannot call code in an external swf
until the frames with the functions are loaded. Timing would be an
issue if the user can beat the loading clock or if you have code
that is executed automatically after you start the load.
So if timing becomes an issue, use MovieClipLoader and the
onLoadInit method.
