How to lock phone while talking - Droid 4

I used to be able to lock the phone while I was talking so my face wouldn't hang up on people but now I can't find that option and I am constantly disconnecting calls I am on.

Nicolai lets put an end to those accidental hang ups! Fill us in on the details, when was the last time you were able to the lock the phone? What software are you on? http://vz.to/1eUn1PS . Do you have a phone lock set up? http://vz.to/QoMghR

  • Iphone 4 how to lock screen while talking?

I just got an iphone 4 white (Verizon).  I haven't seen this problem posted in a while but I'm having a terrible time while making a call, I'm constantly bumping buttons with my face while on a call which can lead to muting, dropped calls, etc.
I do have an Otterbox Defender.  Is this messing with the sensor?  Either way there must be some way around this because I need a case and can't be taking it off each time I get a call.  I've tried the lock/sleep button on the top and that drops the call (unless you're on speaker).
What is the fix?  Do I have a defective phone?
    Thanks for any help!

this is a pic of my case. So what should I do? Thanks a lot!!!

  • How can I stop my phone from going into the lock screen while talking on it? (New issue with ios 6)

Prior to ios 6, I could talk on my phone and have the mute button available. Now it goes into lock mode while speaking on the phone. This is terribly annoying when on conference calls and you want to mute/unmute, or just hang up a call. I now have to swipe to unlock, go to phone, and hang up or unmute. I've tried upping my timeout, but that just delays the inevitable.

Yep, it's a pain.  What's even more concerning is that at the Genius Bar, he was trying to tell me that this is the was it was supposed to be, so they probably fixed it in OS 6.  He said it is for people that are using "Bluetooth" and want to keep the phone in their pockets".  Ridiculous!  What compounds the issue is that the Apple Reps have no clue as to what's going on, and either do the senior tech's on the phone.  As I said in my message, this has made it very cumbersome, and makes it very difficult for those who need to use wired headsets.

  • Locking phone while on call

I cannot tell you how many times I've hung up on someone when trying to lock my phone while on a call. Sometimes I can lock it no problem without hanging up and other times it hangs up.
Does anyone know if there's a trick to prevent this from happening?
    Thanks in advance

    Running iOS 7.0.6 (11B651).
headset plugged in: the sleep/wake button does not hangup the call anymore.
    handset only:
phone not yet locked: the sleep/wake button ends the call.
phone has locked: the sleep/wake button turns on the display; enter unlock code to unlock or use fingerprint sensor; (click top green bar to get back to the call in case you're in an app or on the home screen) click "end call"
clearly an iPhone is not a phone, or not really meant to be used as one.  for all the hype around the great design gods at Apple I was disappointed. I want to make calls and I want to be able to hang up.
speed dialing requires more clicks (get to home screen, click phone, select favorites, click number) compared to other OSes (get to home screen, click shortcut icon (Android); long-press key (BB))
once the phone locks I have to enter my passcode to unlock the phone and hang up. I understand the security aspects of this, probably helpful in corner cases. But it also means for me to "prepare to say good by" ahead of time. I would rather like to pay full attention to my other party, though, and not start fiddling around with my phone.
Since I am using an iPhone as many of my counterparts do, too, I now understand the awkward 5 second silence after "hanging up" -- which you didn't yet! -- to fiddle around with the lock screen. And oh woe if you try and unlock it with your fingerprint, then good luck and make that 15 seconds.
[EDITED]: btw, there is not even a section in the manual how to simply end a call. There is a section on how to deal with a second incoming call, but nothing like the list above.

  • Don't know how to stop phone from talking

How do I disable the phone from talking ???

I figured it out myself, please ignore my question.  Don't know how to cancel my question.

  • Is there a way to lock screen while talking?

Is there a way to automatically lock the iphone screen when talking? I keep resting the phone on my shoulder while working and I accidently either hang up on people or I end up adding conference calls with people I haven't talked to in years. Its getting pretty embarassing.
    thanks

You might want to check the sensors which are to the left of the earpiece on the phone when you are looking at the screen. Test it by making a call, and placing your hand over the left portion of the screen, if the screen doesn't turn off, then it would seem that the sensors aren't working. You could try backing up your phone in iTunes and doing a restore to see if that will fix the problem, and if that doesn't you should take it into an Apple store and have them take a look.

  • Firmware 1.1.2: Locking phone while on call problem

I had upgraded my iPhone to firmware 1.1.2. This caused many problems so I had it swapped out by a Mac Genius. I recieved a new phone and recently upgraded it. I am having the same problems. When Im on a call and press the Sleep/Wake button, instead of locking the phone, it ends the call. Somebody try this please and tell me the result. I may have to contact Apple so they can fix this. Its rediculous! I do remember when I originally updated to 1.01 and 1.02 I expierienced this. I dont know why this happens. Please advise. (Ive already restored/reset/reboot AND REPLACED!) Thanks

1st. Please stop bothering the people at apple with this issue
2nd. The phone cannot and should not be changed to lock itself when you are on a regular call. The only way to lock the phone during a call is when you are using the headset/speaker.

  • How to make it stop talking with every touch of screen

How to stop phone from talking with every touch of screen

With Voice Over, you highlight whatever you are trying to select and then double tap anywhere on the screen to select.
So for your password of 1234 you have to
"Highlight 1, then double tap the screen, Highlight 2, the double tap the screen,... etc."
In order to remove you have 2 options:
    Option# 1 – Turn off Voice Over
Go to setting by, highlight "SETTING
Double tap screen to go into settings
Use 3 fingers to (swipe) scroll of down and highlight "GENERAL"
Double tap screen to go into general
Use 3 fingers to (swipe) scroll of down and then highlight “ACCESSIBILITY”
Double tap screen to go into accessibility
Once you are in make sure that EVERYTHING in that section are shown as “OFF”
Option #2 - Reset your Phone
Go to setting by, highlight "SETTING
Double tap screen to go into settings
Use 3 fingers to (swipe) scroll of down and highlight "GENERAL"
Double tap screen to go into general
Use 3 fingers to (swipe) scroll of down and then highlight “RESET”
Double tap screen to go into reset
Select “Reset all setting” and continue to follow the instruction
(When you reset, all of your data and music WILL NOT erase. So don’t worry about that)
    Hope this helps.

  • How can you lock the screen on iPhone in iOS 7 while talking on the phone?

I am struggling to figure out how to lock the screen of my iPhone 5 during a phone call. In iOS 6, I was able to push the top "on/off" button to lock the screen. In iOS 7, I am able to do this ONLY while using the speakerphone. If I push this button while talking on the phone regularly or using a headphone, it ends the call rather than locking the screen.
I have found that I am muting calls and disconnecting calls accidentially with my "face" while holding the phone b/c the screen is so sensitive. Does anyone know a way around this?

I dont know of a way round this, but im having the same issue of puttig people on hold when putting the phone up to my ear.
This was an issue with the iphone 4 years ago and apple had to do an update to cure it

  • HT4528 how do i stop my iphone 4 from doing random commands while talking on calls via the touch screen? Can i lock the screen while talking?

how do i stop my iphone 4 from doing random commands while talking on calls via the touch screen? Can i lock the screen while talking?

The iPhone has a proximity sensor located on the top of the phone near the earphone speaker that is supposed to automatically turn off the screen when it is close to your face while on a call, to prevent that very thing from happening.  If your phone isn't doing that, try cleaning your screen.  Also, if you put a screen protector on your phone made for a different model it may lack the cut-out that is supposed to keep it from blocking the sensor.  Try removing your screen protector to see if that helps.  If it does, get another screen protector.

  • While talking to someone, I could lock the screen in iSO6 and continue the call, How could I do the same in iSO7?

    Dear Team,
In iSO 6 while talking to some one I could lock the screen in the middle of the call and I could continue the call, this helps me in may ways
    1. I dont press the key board accidentally so that key presses wont be sent to IVR if Iam talking to a customer care or bank ect..
    2. once I lock the screen while talking to the other person, accidentally I could avoid pressing End button, as it is touch screen and an accidental skin touch ends the call?
    3. How could I reject the call if I dont want to receive the call using touch screen in iSO7 if possible?
could you please answer these queries if am on right forum, if not let me know?
    thank you.

The feature exists (and is clearly described in Numbers User Guide) in Numbers '09 but the thread is about the behavior of Numbers '08.

  • How do I use cellular data while talking on the phone?

How do I use cellular data while talking on the phone?

If your carrier supports it, you just use it like you would if you were not on the phone. Use a headset or put it on speaker, press the home button, and do whatever you want...
If you use a CDMA carrier (Sprint, Verizon, etc.) then you can not use cellular data while on a voice call.

  • Can you lock the edge screen while talking on the phone?

I just recieved my new e=note edge, wondering if the edge screen can be locked while talking on it, worried it may not work for me? I am a lefty lol and this maybe a problem while talking on the phone? Or will it?

        Kellsmom02,
Great question. We always want functionality of a device. Yes, you can lock this device while on a phone call. You holding the device will not disrupt the use of the device.

  • Droid Incredible 2 Echo while talking on the phone

    Anyone else have this issue?
When using my wife's Droid Incredible 2, you can hear your voice over the person on the phone while you talk. It is almost like the phone microphone is too sensitive. I have tried adjusting the call volumes, I turned off all the headset mic amp and voice amps as suggested on the support forums, and I even tried changing the phone configuration by setting all the hardware to communicate only via CDMA and still no dice.
I did some googling on this and it seems this is a problem with the Incredible 2's in general, but google/htc/verizon will not comment on this or provide an update. We are on our third Incredible 2 in the past month, and each one has had this issue. The Verizon store keeps giving us the ** run around of, "your past 15 days to exchange it, even though the phone echo is so bad you cannot talk on it for more than ten seconds."
I just wish we could exchange the phone instead of dealing with this garbage run around customer service. The phone is great other than you cannot really talk on it....
Here is the link I found on the issue by courtesy of the HTC forums:
    http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/android/f/124/p/11431/49895.aspx#49895

Every Verizon phone I've ever owned has had this problem.  I believe it's the way Verizon over compresses the cells in order to get by with fewer problems that causes the problem.  I was with a GSM provider for six years and when the company I worked for entered into an agreement with VZ that made me switch carriers the difference in sound quality was like night and day.  The GSM carrier was like listening to music in stereo while Verizon's sound was like mono - tinny with no depth of quality or richness.  I notice the sound is louder on Verizon phones, no doubt an attempt to mask the poor sound quality.
