How to make a bill of material application?

Hi Gurus,
We are now using Excel sheets for bill of materials, sicne we got hundreds of products, small products, we found there's a lot of problems with Excel.
I am trying to make a application of BOM by using database, but I don't know how to design the under tables of the db.
We are a small manufacture producing sanitaryware products.
Anyone got XP and good ideas on that will be much appreciated.
I think after the tables, I will build the application by using Apex applications.

I don't know how to design the under tables of the db.Barry Williams maintains a library of free data models. Here is his conceptual Bill Of Materials model. Be sure to click on his physical implementation too.

I am designing work-flow of my application through BPEL(JDeveloper), I am making different BPEL projects for different functions, like sales manager got the order from sales person and sales manager either approve it or reject it, if he approve it it goes to Production manager and he ships the goods, now I want to keep sales person, sales manger,production manager in seperate BPEL files and want to get the output of sales person to sales manager and sales manager to production manager please help me in dong this.
I was trying to make partner link in Sales manager of sales person and getting the input from there. I dont know this is right even or not, if it is right I dont know how to make data flow from one application to other.

Yes you can do this.
If you each integration point to be in different process, you have to create three BPEL process.
1. Create a Async BPEL process 'A' which will be initiated when sales person creates the order.
2. From BPEL process 'A' call a ASync BPEL process 'B' which has the approval flow. Depending on the input from process 'A' the sales manager will review the order in workflow and approve or reject and send the result back to process 'A'.
3. Based on the result from workflow, invoke the Sync BPEL process 'C', where you can implement the shipping logic.

i am new to this ABAP environment, I have application logs in my system, i need to generate the reports based on my filter condition and i need to download them as file/report, For example;
I need a Application Log report for:
only Particular User
only particular time
only importent logs
only errors
like that....so on..
Can any one give me step by step, how to make a report of application logs, i know only i can see logs use transaction CodeSLG1. I want to make report them.

How to make the Billing extension to override the defined rate schedules

Hi,
By using the billing extension, i am able to generate the events at top-task level and also generating the draft invoice/revenue amounts.
But the problem is, if any bill rates are defined for the expenditure item means, draft invoice/revenue amount is duplicating.
It is the sum of my calculations in my billing extension and the calculations of the (expenditure item * bill rate).
My billing extension is not able to override the defined rate schedules.
Please let me know, how should i make my billing extension to override the defined rate schedules.

Thanks for your inputs.I have tried with the Event/Event as you specified. It is working. Now my i am able to disregard the expenditure items hours multiplied by bill rates and generate the events with my billing extension calculations only.
But i need to handle one more thing as per my requirement.
User to be restricted in such way that, draft revenue has to be generated before to the draft invoice(Same as Work/Work) through my billing extension.
How can i achieve it.
The revenue_distribution_flag is not updating from 'N' to 'Y' even after the generation of the draft revenue as you mentioned when i follow the Event/Event.
Is there any way to the restrict the user in generating the draft revenue prior to the draft invoice by using EI's.

If you go to the iPhone DEV area on Apple.com you can get a installer app once you are a developer. This installer will let you use apps for your own use. This installer app also supports up to X amount of phones you can install the application on. I thought it was set at 100 but could be now up to 500.

How to create BOM(Bill Of Material) item data from flat file?

I have two flat files one is BOM(Bill Of Material) header data and BOM item data. BOM header is already created, now I want to create BOM item data with reference to the header data. Is there any standard direct batch input method in LSMW or Is there any standard BAPI or Is there any standard BDC report program to do the task? CS01 is the TCode to create BOM.

The DI program works for create step CS01 and not for CS02.
Perhaps this ( adding items in header by Tx: CS02 ) could be achieved by a Recording step in LSMW.

I can only manage to make a copy of the application without the data using the export utility

Hello,
To copy across the data you can use the traditional EXP/IMP or the Datapump utility.
If you're used to using EXP/IMP I'd encourage you to look at Datapump, if you haven't used EXP/IMP before I'd encourage you to look at Datapump (datapump rocks) -

There are a few major differences between Datapump and traditional EXP/IMP (EXP/IMP creates the export file on the client side, Datapump creates it on the server side etc).

How to make a billing forms in oracle forms 6.0?

hi,i want to make a sample billing form in oracle forms.my fields details
itemcode varchar2(6);
itemname varchar2(25);
quantity number(5); prompt quantity in kg
selling_price number(5);
subtotal number(5);
total number(6);
i have no idea about billing application.if i want to make "subtotal" and "total" as database item?,i only want to show the total price on "total" and "subtotal" fields.i will make "total" field as single record item.and set all others are 10 records displayed.please help me further.i want sellingprice*quantity=subtotal.at last i want to get subtotal+subtotal+n(sum of all subtotal)=total.total is a single display field at bottom.if we entered all items i want to show the total at bottom.i know my concept is so stupid.please help me to make a proper forms.real thanks for reading my question.

I think you've got worse problems than building the form.
First you need a proper data model. Billing will involve more than one table, with master - detail relations and that kind of very nice things that a database can achieve.
Then, once you have designed a datamodel that fits your requirements, you will have to build the form with the builder. It is not a hard tool, but needs a minimum learning.
Don't take me wrong, but I don't think you can come here and ask such a generic issue.

How to make a rule for BPM application

I have a BPM (Purchase Request Approval) application and runing in SAP portal. I want to make a simple rule in in Rule Composer that if the amount is > than 5000 then it should go to manager for approval other wise process goes further.
Can any one tell me how can I achieve it?? step by step ??

I once created a connection pool programatically with Apache DBCP API. It didnt took more than 10 lines. Unforchunetly I dont have to code with me now.
But If I remember right there is a sample code for that in the Apache Commans DBCP documentation.

How to make a connection between an application and a Coherence Grid?

We're starting with Oracle Coherence.
How do I connect an application (for example running in JDeveloper) to an existing grid?
I used the following tutorial to get started with Coherence.

Within JDev an Coherence instance is started, data is entered and queried.
Next I'd like to connect this to a running Coherence instance, (started with [Coherence home]\bin\coherence.cmd)
When I start the coherence.cmd and run the application from within JDev, I can see a connection is made

I am, however, not able to retrieve the data which is entered via JDev.
(1) What do I need to do to distribute the data entered via the Jdev application to the Coherence grid
(2) How can I get access to the data within the Coherence Grid(do I need to to change the Cache, Map or something else)?

Hi Leon,
In order to see the entries created by the sample application within JDev, you will need to do several things:
1. Ensure that at least one storage enabled Coherence node is running, by executing cache-server.cmd at least once (coherence.cmd starts storage-disabled console only).
2. Run coherence.cmd and change to the appropriate cache from the console:
Map (?): cache VirtualCache
(the name should be the same as the one defined in cache-config.xml and Java code)
3. Execute commands against the cache:
Map (VirtualCache): list
This should give you a list of all the entries within a VirtualCache.

My problem is i have a JFrame where in i have a JCheckBock and when i check it my frame should be top from all applications opened(like MS Word,notepad or any window) and when it is dechecked it should be back when any application is opened . You should use JLayeredPane as container of your objects. It has a method called "setLayer", or similar, through which you can assign Z-Order to the objects contained in it.
