How to make a generic text field default back to zero or blank
I have a bc4j project that I'm creating. In it I have a text
field that is used to calculate a value derived from 2 values in
the current rowset with a click of a button. This table is a
many table. So after I do one calculation all is fine. However,
when I go down to the next value in the grid. The value from the
last calculation is still present, until I hit my calculation
button again. I want to know is there anyway to clear out this
value as you scroll/click down through your records in the grid.
other info: This screen I have a setup with a grid at the top
which contains multiple records and below this i have text fields
with all the data of the current record. (1 that you are sitting
on)
to add to previous. I already created a clear button that I can
manually use to clear this field. But I more or less wanted to
know if I can automate this process when moving out of the
rowset.

Andy's reply will show you how to make a table scroll horizontally, but it will be tough to accomplish it in some sort of easily replicable way. I am working on a JQuery extension that will help accomplish this, but I have had my time invested in another project at the moment.

Using forms 6i I want to generate a poplist list item field with this column while the value of the elements in the list to will be day names like SATURDAY,SUNDAY,MONDAY. if we change the data type from date to char, it will work properly but now with DATE data type behind it, it gives the following error message

Using forms 6i how to make a list item field with DATE data type which can hold day names?Set your date column as a hidden (non-displayed) field. Create your list item with the varchar2 day names. Create the list item as a non-base-table field that accepts the text values of day names. On that field, create a when-validate-item trigger that translates the text into a real date, which it then uses to set the value of the actual base-table item.

Need help formatting text field default value

I've received a customer request to put default text into the Value section of a text field. They're requesting that the default text include line breaks, bullets, etc. I added a Text Field object and added the default text to the Object tab > Value tab Default field but can't figure out how to add line breaks, etc.

this is possible but not doable with the UI of Designer.
The workaround is as follows:
1. Create a text, enter your default text with all the formattings you need (text color, bold text, line breaks etc.)
2. Create a text field and enter any word as default value. Let's say "Default".
3. Select the text and the switch to the XML Source view.
There you will find all the formatted text between the <value> tags such as:

8. That's it. When you now go back to the Design View your text field shows a formatted RichText as defaul text. -

In a real-world application, no.
In a RW application, a typical need is merely to know the "logical role" of the button (i.e., the button that validates the form, regardless of whether its text is "OK" or "Save", "Go",...). Text tends to vary much more than the structure of the UI over time.
In this case you can get the source's name (+getName()+), which will be the name that you've set to the button at UI construction time. Or you can compare the source for equality with either button ( +if evt.getSource()==okButton) {...}+ ).
All in all, I think the best solution is: don't use the same ActionListener for more than one action (+i.e.+ don't add the same ActionListener to all your buttons, which leads to a big if-then-else series in your actionPerformed() ).
Eventually, if you're listening to a single button's actions, whose text change over time (e.g. "pause"/"resume" in a VCR bar), I still think it's a bad idea to rely on the text of the button - instead, this text corresponds to a logical state (resp. playing/paused), it is more maintainable to base your logic on the state - which is more resilient to the evolutions of the UI (e.g. if you happen to use 2 toggle buttons instead of one single play/pause button). -

He tried using the Application Developer Common Modules responsibility, to find the Master Items Region and added the Buyer Id and Planner Code attributes with the Required check-box set to Yes. He bounced the iAS server and cleared java cache, but the changes do not take effect.
client does not want to use form personalization.
Can you please provide more assistance for using Application Developer Common Modules responsibility?

"How to split threaded text frames to single ones?"
"SplitStory.jsx" or "BreakFrame.jsx" under Scripts/Samples indeed could be the answer.
From the comments in the code of "BreakFrame.jsx":

JWSelect a file of that type in the Finder, choose Get Info from the File menu, change the Open With entry for it to the desired application, click on Change All, and confirm the action.
