How to make .exe applications
good day, im interested in java and started reading tutorials. i dont have prior background in programming. as i skip reading on tutorials, i notice that programs are run on command prompt. my question is, can i make a program that have filename extension .exe and when you click that icon it runs the program directly on the screen? i thought that program like C++ or java can make a application program just like games that dont need command prompt.

If you choose to make an EXE file, there are programs for that, but you might as well just choose any .NET technology, since you will be missing out on one of the greatest features of Java--the ability to develop once and run on any platform. This is not quite true. A program developed in Java doesn't become less portable just because it's distributed in some other format than bytecode. The distributed executable can only run on the target platform of course but the program itself is as portable as before.
So there's no reason to stop using Java even if you mainly target Windows and want to distribute your program in a .EXE format for technical, economical, legal or whatever reasons,.

Client Application can be any Java class, JSP etc which is a part of multi
tier architecture which accepts input from Client and directs request to the
middle tier for processing. You can refer to
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/jsp/index.html
for building jsp's as Client application.

How to make two Application Modules share the same entity cache?
Hello everyone, I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0
I have a little problem in my application through using two AppModules that contain also same ViewObjects. So to be clear one VO is declared in two AppModules. When I commit the view by using AppModule1 and then go to another page that uses the same VO but from AppModule2, I have to commit again, even through the row is previously stored in the database.
I understood that this came because different AppModules use different entityCache for database communications.
I am asking if anyone knows any option on how to sync the entity caches from the two appmodules, or how to make them use the same entity cache.
Thank youYou can make a copy of the app and give it another name, but it will use the same settings files no matter which you open. Settings aren't stored in the app, but in your Preferences.
Firefox, being a Windows derivative, might have the capability to use "Profiles" where you'd set it up different for each profile. I don't use Firefox, so I don't know if that option exists. -

how can i make exe file of .class files. so that it
may run automatically. Do a search for for this. It is discussed here every day. It has beeen answered often. Try using a search. While you are at it, look up JARs too 'cause they may be an easier/better way to go.
Do i need jdk at the system at
which it running ?No. You may need the JRE(JVM) though, if you use JARs or the .class files directly. -

ManishI believe the thinking was that most people wrap their .exe in an .msi anyway, so that would have been way more common.
Really?
That seems bizarre to me. I guess, if this thinking occurred, it might have been based on the idea that lots of people are using Group Policy Software Installation (Intellimirror), since GPSI does a less-horrible job when you use MSI.
But, a lot of software I've seen, uses a setup.exe bootstrapper to launch one or more MSI's.
So, MSI wraps EXE wraps MSI would be the outcome of this thinking.
Which is why I chose the word... bizarre.

How to make the application access the fonts from outside library?
actually the fonts located in the library are considered from the system/library/fonts path. is it possible to make it accessible from outside that path through programatically for indesign applications? if yes means, how to do it?
thanks
subhai think am not mentioned the question clear.
the fonts menu inside InDesign lists the fonts from
for mac: System/Library/Fonts
Adobe InDesign CS2/fonts
for windows: C:\WINDOWS\Fonts
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS2\Fonts
is it possible to list the font from someother folder rather than this folders.

Hello friends,
I want to make an executable and a setup file for my Java pojects.
plz help me,Hello jain_abhilash,
This is surely possible but definitely not desirable. Several tools offer you the ability to create Windows/x .exe files with varying degrees of success. The big reason for using Java is: Java is Cross Platform! If your application runs only on Windows/x or will never be turned into a Java Applet you probably should be looking at some native language like C/C++.
Your main concern seems to be about having to install a Java Runtime Environment but so would any native tool unless you are going to bundle the supporting libraries need into each application rather than factoring them out into a single Dynamic Link Library (DLL). So if you plan on having two or more applications you either install a DLL or you start to waste space with application bloat.
The other implied reason for using an .exe file is that an .exe file would be significantly faster than Java byte code, but this is not true with The Java HotSpot virtual machine (VM). The Java HotSpot VM raises the bar on performance by combining a fast, stable virtual machine and advanced adaptive-optimization technology. Additional features of the Java HotSpot VM include inlining, garbage collection and improved thread synchronization to provide unparalleled performance for applications written in the Java programming language.
With Java to native code compiler you loose platform independence and don't gain much performance. So Java's Cross Platform capabilities combined with its high performance HotSpot VM make it the superior choice to .exe files. Also these tools generally do not keep pace with the latest JDKs and the features that you may interested in may not be currently supported.
See JOVE compiler from http://www.instantiations.com
or
TowerJ from http://www.towerJ.com
or
JET... from http://www.excelsior-usa.com/home.html
Also Microsoft's jexegen (which is included in the Microsoft SDK). jexegen supports JDK 1.4 and does not support swing. Visual J++ or Microsoft's Java software development kit (SDK) are downloadable from Microsoft's website.
Other possible solution are WebGain's Visual Cafe and IBM's Visual Age.
And finally see Duckware's java2exe.
This is by no means an exhaustive list and there are many other freeware and shareware solutions available.
