How to make page to go on top?

I have a long jsf page. I want page to go top when there are any errors on the page. I am using <h:messages to display the errors on the top of the page but I am not able to make the page to goon top. HELP

I think I need to explain the problem much more clearly. We have org.apache.myfaces.AUTO_SCROLL is set to true. That is causing the page to stay at its location. We are also using ajax4jsf. With a4j:commandButton and navigation rule I can make paget to go on top on error and stay on the same place when there are no errors. BUT we also have help files that can be downloaded and user can attach and download any files. Everything works fine until user clicks button to view the help files or attached documents then click on the button which is a4j. a4j button once again call the actions for viewing those documents. We have narrowed downed to a4j:commandButton so we want to get rid of a4j and just stick to h:commandButton

Hi, How can I get the text in a large text field to start at the top left of the field rather than at the center of the field? In addition, may one know how to make text wrap in the form as well?

To set the Text alignment properties use "Paragraph" pallet you can make it visible by selecting Window>>Paragraph or Shift+F5
And to allow text wrapping you need to select "Allow Multiple Lines" checkbox under "Object" pallet and "Field" tab. You can make Object pallet visible by selecting Window>>Object or Shift+F7.

Can't figure out how to make "sub-tabs" / Too many "top-tabs" / Other ?

First of all, the website that I am webmaster for is: www.cindydennis.org .
I am having some problems:
1) There are TOO MANY tabs at the top. I can't figure out how to make sub-headings on one page...
For example, I'd like on the "About CDM" page, tabs that can be clicked on to go to other information tabs, but that don't end up appearing on the top (e.g.: having "Remarks" and "What We Believe" tabs go there, but not appear at the top).
Another example, if you look at the home screen, I'd like to have the link to the "Privacy Policy" and Terms of Service" pages on the bottom, but not have them appear as tabs in the top, too.
How do I do this, please? I've searched, and can't figure out/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
2) How do I add "Copyright 2011" automatically? I saw in the Rapidweaver trial version, it automatically adds it when you publish... is there a way to tell this program to do this? Or do I need to type that in on each page? (I don't want to purchase RW... I'm not ready for that yet.)

Cindee ~ One way to do the copyright notice is to use a Text Clipping — Select (highlight) the copyright text you want to use and drag it to the Desktop. If necessary, change the name of the Clipping icon so that it's more easily identifiable on the Desktop. Then, when you need it in iWeb, simply drag the Clipping icon from the Desktop to iWeb's main canvas.

Hit F1 (help) and search for Named Anchors.
The example page is one, very tall page with several named anchors on it. When you click a button it takes you to the designated anchor on the page.

How to make page centerd in window?

I'm very new to web design, so please keep that in mind.
My canvas is 800x600, and when I preview it in my browser
that page apears in the top left hand corner (probably default). I
would like to know if there is any way to position it in the center
of the page - keeping in mind that viewers would have different
screen resolutions when viewing it. So saying "just make the canvas
bigger and move it over" wont work because someone viewing it with
a screen at 800x600 would see it differently than one with
1600x1200.

How to make pages page horizontally in acrobat

Hi there.
Is there a way in Acrobat to make pages page horizontally? Similar to an ‘island spread’ in indesign! I need to view a series of pages horizontally, as this will best simulate the way that I will be presenting these pages when pinned up...

Depends on how you set up your ID file. If you have set up your document as 11 x 8.5 (horizontal/landscape) the resulting pdf exported sould be the same. If you have an 8.5 x 11 Document, Portrait, the exported pdf should be likewise portait.
If you printed to PDF Printer (and you should have exported instead) these results could be overridden by the page orientation.
If you have an Acrobat file, whose pages need to be rotated permanately, not just for a particular view instance, rotate them from the Acrobat Navigation Pages Panel.

Highlight a known Word document in the Finder, highlight it & choose Get Info from the File menu. In the Get Info box, click the triangle next to "Open With." Click on this drop-down menu & choose Pages. If Pages is not a choice, choose "Other" & navigate to the Pages application. Now click the "Change" button under the text that asks if you want to open all documents like this with Pages. Repeat with Excel documents & Numbers.
Be aware that the icons for these documents will be plain white icons.

Welcome to Apple discussions.
You can set any file type to open in Pages, and it’s surprisingly easy: just go to the Finder, single-click on any a file, then type command-I (Get Info). Click on the Open With... menu and select Pages (or navigate to Pages if it’s not in the menu). To make all files of that type open in Pages, click on the Change All button. You can do that with .doc, RTF, .txt, and other types of files.

How to make page wider

Does anybody know how to also change the picture in the header when you change the page width?
I can manage to widen the page and the background picture on the page. But I can not figure out how to make the picture in the header as wide as the page.

The themes that I've found to be the most user modifiable are Black, White, Formal, Modern and Modern Frame. They don't use image files that limit the size of the page. I will select the one of those 4 based on the color of the navbar text so it is most visible with the design of the site.

How to make a menu at the top of the page move to the left when scrolling?

I have a menu on the top of the page on a sidebar-sort. I was wondering how you could make it move to the left, not until the scrollbar reaches the end of the page, but when I say so. If i put the key position under the menu, it disappears. If i put it at the top of the page, my only choice is to use the Final motion, but that one moves until the scrollbar ends. So how can I do it?

You need to set the initial motion to zero and specify the key position to the scroll point, where you would like to begin the scrolling from.

How to make New Events appear at TOP of page, not Bottom?

When I import photos, they are automatically put into a new Event. That's great. But that Event appears way at the bottom of my long events list, even though my Events are shown chronologically with the most recent events right at the top. I have to drag the new event all the way through dozens of older events in order to bring it up to the top, where I can figure out which other event folders those new images might belong (ex: "family photos, Fall 2008").
This isn't the biggest problem in the world, but I'd love to know how to set iPhoto to create the new event at the top of the list instead of the bottom. Any help? Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. In the View->Sort menu select Descending. However that will also have the photos in the Photos mode be sorted descending. In the Event mode you can sort the events in one direction and the photos in those events in the other. In the Photos mode both the Events and photos are sorted the same direction.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

If you use the Help in the Help menu in your Pages you will find this
Create a page layout document
In page layout documents, every page is a blank canvas to which you can add text, images, shapes and other objects, and arrange them however you want. Some Pages templates are designed specifically for creating page layout documents.
If you're using a word-processing template, you can convert it to a page layout document at any time, to have more flexibility in how you design each page. For example, to add text to a page layout document, you add text boxes and type your content in them. You can then layer text boxes with objects, which isn't possible in word-processing documents.
Important: When you convert a word-processing document to a page layout document, any existing body text (text that's not in a text box) is deleted. If you want to save the body text, copy it before you convert the document, then paste it into a text box or another Pages document. Also, when you convert, all objects that are set to move inline with text (in the Arrange pane of the Format inspector) are deleted. All other objects are set to stay on the page and not move with text.
Convert a word processing document to a page layout document
You can covert a document at any time, but it's easiest to do it when you first open the word processing document template (for example, the Blank templates).
Do one of the following:
Choose File > Convert to Page Layout (from the File menu at the top of your computer screen).
Click Setup inspector , click Document, then deselect the Document Body tickbox.
To convert from a page layout document to a word processing document, choose File > Convert to Word Processing (from the File menu at the top of your computer screen).

How to make page name and title change with AJAX driven site?

I am building a travel site. I am a fairly basic but longtime
DW user. I built the site in DW. I made a template and all pages
are then based off the template. I hired a programmer to do the
complicated hotel searching code. He says that he used AJAX and I
know also php (all the pages are whatever.php)
What I don't like and he says can not be changed, which there
must be a workaround for, is that, for example, a user will be on
the spahotels.php page. Or perhaps they are on the whatshot.php
page reading the latest article about jungle treehouse eco lodges.
So far so good, the name of the page is "spahotels.php" or
"whatshot.php".
But, on each (and all) of the site pages we also have a hotel
search on the top left nav. So from any page, the user can do a
hotel search. The problem I have is that...once they do this....the
results they are given in the main window of the page, are totally
unrelated to spahotels or whatshot about jungle lodges...so if they
have now searched for tokyo business hotels, it looks ridiculous
and confusing that the page name says "spahotels.php" and the page
title says Find Great Spa Hotels.
My programmer says AJAX was the best way to do the hotel
search functionality (which I dont know anything about so if he
says so maybe so but I don't know) but he also says there is no way
to make the page name or title change to reflect what the user has
done on the left search function. Makes sense..they are clearly
unrelated.
However...this is a terrible user experience in my opinion.
So...one idea he had was to find a javascript code that changes the
page title/name.
Does anyone have some ideas of how to solve this issue?

search...and see what I mean...the name of the page stays
spahotels.php and the title stays Spa Hotels. I get it...I
think...why it does...but it looks stupid if you are looking for
something else in your search (which of course the user will be).

How to make pages fit to any screen size

Is there a way to make the pages stretch or condense so that it fits any size screen? I've found where I can adjust the px size of the individual pages but I get white borders at the left/right and bottom edges of the screen that vary depending on the monitor size that I am viewing the page on. Is there a fix for this? Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. By screen size do you mean browser window size? If so you can get rid of the white around the body of the page by using a solid color or tiled image for the browser background which is set in the Inspector/Page/Layout pane.
Or, if you want the page background to be the same as the browser background do the following;
1 - set the browser background to what you have the page set to.
2 - set the page content background to transparent.
Now the page background will fill the browser's window no matter what size it is. That's how I have my tutorial site setup: http://toadstutorials.info.

How to make page chapters like wikipedia in Dreamweaver.

Hi all, I'm a graphic design student currently producing my own portfolio website. It's a work in progress so I haven't published it unfortunately but will be in the next week. So I'll do my best to describe the feaure I would lie to add to it. It's a feature seen most notably in wikipedia.
I have a project that features pictures of posters, leaflets and a mobile app for a fictional event. I have all the images on one page but would like 3 galleries. One for posters images, another for leaflet images, and the other for app images still on the same page. So I ideally would like a function like wikipedia, where you have a contents at the top of the page. So if you want to look at the 'app images' you click the 'app images' in the contents menu and it takes you to that section on the same page so you don't have to load another page.
Does anyone know how to produce this function in Dreamweaver? I presume it's possible as it sound like a basic function. I just don't know where to start (Just like to say I have made a website before, so I know my way around HTML and CSS fairly well). Is it HTML code, or Java code? If anyone has any videos tutroials they could direct me to that would be even better.
