How to make Safari stop asking whether to trust app Signature

I'm running Safari 4.0.5 on a Tiger system. When I sign on to my work VPN (I go to a website, enter credentials, and it starts up Network Connect), it always says "this applet was signed by ... and then I have to hit "Trust" or "Don't trust" or "Examine certificate". Can I get rid of this somehow?
thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
Anytime you go to a secure site you will know because there will be a small gray lock icon top right in your Safari window. Click the lock to view the certificate information.
If a site's certificate consistently requires you to click Trust over and over, report that to the site. Hopefully they have a contact link somewhere.
Note.. you have to enter your username and password in most cases before you will see the gray icon.
When you see the certificate click the purple circle with a black ? in it bottom left side of the certificate window. A Help viewer window will open with information about certificates.

  • How to make Safari stop adding filename extensions

If I use Right-click->Download Linked File As... with a link to a text file whose name has no extension or an unrecognized extension, Safari adds ".txt" to the name without showing in the Save dialog that it is going to do so. I think this is a regression in Safari 7 and/or Mavericks to a bad behavior from the Tiger era, although it is possible that it is an edge case that wasn't fixed along with the fix for more common modes of downloading/saving files and I just haven't run into it recently. I understand the mechanics of what Safari is doing (mapping the HTTP Content-Type header to a filename extension) and I don't see any good workaround short of a master switch making Safari stop doing that at all and instead trusting that I really do want unextended filenames and the ability to use a period in a filename without informing LaunchServices.
As an antique Mac user I've never been entirely comfortable with the adoption of the Windows filename extension botch, but I do accept that battle as lost. I'm just looking for a way to make Safari save files with the name shown in the Save dialog.

  • How to make Outlook stop asking for a password when you no longer have a valid password?

Many people have asked how to get Outlook to stop prompting for a password, but the answers given are for people who have a valid password. My question is different. You've graduated from school or left your job. You no longer have access to an Exchange
server. Within Outlook, you have an historical archive of your emails messages and you need to keep them. You can't send email because you no longer have access to that Exchange server, but you have a local cache of the address book in Outlook, which is valuable
to you and you want to continue to be able to use.
How do you keep the account in Outlook but have it stop prompting you for a password in this specific case? Remember, you never will have a valid password to this Exchange server again.

Well you can manually recover your lost PST password with the command Pst19upg.exe -i filename.psx then press enter. After using this
command your pst files will be free from password and you can easily again use your outlook files. You can also recover pst password with the assist of pst password recovery tool.

    It's Recovery Toolbox for Outlook

  • How to make PremPro stop asking me for a video file

I have never been able to figure this out and I know there must be a simple solution.
I have a project and there was a video I wanted to use, Unfortunately, it ALWAYS crashed Premiere Pro. So I cleared it out of the project and deleted the file off my coputer.
Yet every time I open that project, I get a popup asking me "Where is the File "Name of File'?"
This is maddening. How do I stop this?

No, I have not tried that with this project. I've just been dealing with it. Wish I knew a way to fix this but such is life.
Thanks for the help, everybody. It is what it is.

  • How to make Safari stop opening up with the last viewed page?

If I quit safari with "google.com", and I open it up again, "google.com" shows up.
how do i change the settings so that every time I open up safari, the homepage shows, not the last viewed page?

Close the Safari window before you quit Safari.
Or hold the shift key down when you launch Safari.
    Best.

  • How do i make Keychain stop asking for my PW when I launch Entourage?

I have really never had to do anything with Keychain, ever since I started using OSX back in the 10.2.x days.
I just used my computer. No problem; it's a Mac!   I kind of had a vague idea what Keychain was, but i really never interacted with it.
Same was true when I upgraded my non-Intel Powerbook from 10.3.9 to 10.5.8.  Things went fine, for over a year.
But I recently had occasion to wipe my HD and reinstall 10.5.8.
Now, keychain asks for my login admin password every time I launch Entourage.
And no matter how many times i type it in, it never remembers.
That's a pain, and I have no clue how to make it stop doing that.
When I open the Keychain access utility and click on Help to try and learn what Keychain is all about, nothing happens.  That's no help!
When I run Keychain Repair, it says everything is verified, and repair says there's nothing to repair.
Within the keychain access utility, i see a list of references to many of the passwords that I entered over the past several years and the sites I used them on.
Are all those passwords with their matching URLs stored somewhere on my Mac?  I have always religiously NOT done this, for obvious reasons.
Makes me kind of uneasy, 'encrypted' or not.  I'm always skeptical of the "trust me..." approach to computer security.
(If hackers can hack into the Defense Dept., the average Mac would seem to be a piece of cake.)
...Altho I suppose that could be a good argument for having DoD switch over to Macs....:-)
Anyway, keychain for me is a mystery wrapped in an enigma, and it has now become a bit of an annoyance and an inconvenience.
Whenever I need annoyances and inconveniences, I can always get those at work...on my Windows PC.
So how do I get Keychain to stop asking me for my Admin username/password every time I launch Entourage?

    Hello,
    >Are all those passwords with their matching URLs stored somewhere on my Mac?
    Yes, that IS the Keychain.

But if it didn't you be bothered to put in hundrefds of usernames & Passwords a day most likely.

No. It's a safety feature. Select the appropriate response and the next time you visit, you won't be prompted.

Something keeps trying to download on my mac and I don't know what it is. It is not in the apple store and just comes out nowhere and request for my password to download something and I don't know what it is. How to make this stop? It pops up every single day.

    Erica,
I can, with 99.99% certainty, tell you that you are absolutely right in not wanting to download or install this "Helper," whatever it is (but we can be equally certain it would not "help" anything).
I cannot comment as to Oglethorpe's recommendation of 'adwaremedic'; I am unfamiliar with it.  His links to the Apple discussion and support pages warrant your time and attention.
It might be really simple -- Trying looking in your Downloads folder, trash anything that you don't know with certainty is something you want to keep, and then Secure Empty your Trash. Then remove the AdBlock extension, LastPass, and Web of Trust extensions to Safari and re-boot. If the issue goes away, still be extraordinarily careful in the future.
Unfortunately, it's probably not going to be that simple to get rid of, in which case I'd then try the line by line editing in HT203987.
I have no further suggestions (other than a complete wipe and re-install...but that's a pain because trying to restore from Time Machine would simply ... restore the Mal).
For the rest of us, please post when you find a solution.
         Best.

  • Does anyone know how to make Safari send e-mail? Mine won't and hasn't for some time.

I have been having trouble for some time sending e-mails by Safari - no problems with Mail - Does anyone know how to make Safari send e-mails?

When we first got our new iMac we were able to send e-mail through Safari - somewhere in the last 2-3 years it stopped and we got the failure to deliver message. We then sent e-mails through Mail - it works well and we have gotten used to doing this. However, every once in a while I retry send e-mails through Safari and we still get the  failure to deliver notice. This has also happened when we try to forward some e-mails we receive (not all; most get forwarded).

  • Make Safari stop displaying a website?

Hey everyone. I want to know if there's a way (or a plugin) to make Safari stop displaying specific websites. I go to a few websites that have talking ads, and disabling Javascript to get rid of them also gets rid of various site features that I enjoy having. So is there a way I can simply have Safari stop displaying the websites that the ads are hosted on? A plugin, as I said before, will also do. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but before I mark it as solved I want to know, how do I do this with multiple sites? I'm going to guess that you just do it again on another line (since to do it at all 127.0.0.1 is already used twice), but I would like conformation.

FINAL CUT PRO X (the latest version). I'm trying to upload my video to Youtube, I am getting flashing and orange bar in the frame timeline. How to make it STOP!? It looks like it's rendering somthng but I just want it to stop flashing. I hope it didn't mess up the video...

You're in totally the wrong place...  this is the Mac Pro (no Book) forum for hardware.  You want
Final Cut Pro X: Professional Applications: Apple Support Communities
Hopefully, FCP X has an autosave feature Like Final Cut Pro Studio so that you may already have a recent copy.  If I were in your shoes, I'd try an ESC or something similar before going to a Forced Quit.
    Good luck

Hit command tab and swtich to the Finder, under the Apple menu is Force Quit, do that to the program that is causing your "hang" and restart the program and what you were doing.
If you didn't save your file beforehand, then your going to have to make it again.
