How to manage Basis Transactions?

Hello all,
Post AC 5.3 go live, we've taken on the painstaking task of re-engineering many of our SAP ECC Security roles.  Our goal was to be SOD violations free at the Role level, and then put the ownership on the Business to decide what violations at the User level were warranted (requiring mitigation), or else a change would have to occur on the Business Process (BP) side.
We are struggling with the assignment of certain Basis categorized transactions such as SM36, SM37, SE16.  The majority of our BPs are very batch processing oriented, which require our users to have batch processing authorization.  However, if we included SM37, for example, into any role RAR comes back with a HIGH risk message.
I'd like to know how other AC shops are dealing with these types of transactions/authorizations?  We have an upcoming audit in March and would like to have something in place before then.
Thansk in advance,
Jose Garcia

Hola Jose,
Users should be able to schedule their own jobs, but the mustn't be able to run the job on behalf other user:
Restrict user from executing batch job
If you have periodical background jobs, take this into account:
Re: How to find out which jobs are connected to the user
and check what Julius said
Regarding SE16, users mustn't use it in PRD.
Re: Allow users to access Z* tables and restrict access SAP Standard tables
Basis roles will always contain Critical actions. Change other user's job is a critical action, but It's part of Basis activities, so if you grant this auth only to Basis team, you shouldn't have problems with auditors. Note that This is NOT a SoD conflict but a Critical Action. Not the same!.
Regarding Basis SoD conflicts, well... Mantain roles and assign roles to users generate a SoD conflict. If you have SU01 and PFCG in the same role you should create different roles. I've been working on this and I'll give you an example of SoD free roles as a starting point to you:
- CLIENT_MANAGEMENT (client Admin tools such as SCC4)
- ROLE_ADMINISTRATOR (Role admin such as PFCG)
- TRANSPORT_ADMIN (STMS)
- USERS_ADMINISTRATION (such as SU01)
Anyway you'll find much better replies in the security forum.
Regarding SM37 and RAR: If the authorizations in the role are restricted as Sunny suggested and the rules are OK, RAR doesn't show SM37 as a Critical Action.
Cheers
Diego.

  • How to manage the transaction in ADF

    Hi,
    I am using jdev 11.1.2.3
I have two BTF employee and department. I have main.jspx  in that two tabs employee and department. Now I have changed some value in employee and department. My current page is employee . When i click on commit button both the forms are getting committed. Can u plz tell me how do i manage the transactions ??
My req is only my current opened tab should get committed even if i changed in both the tab .. How can i achieve this ??
    Thanks

I have unchecked data control in department BTF. Now i can able to commit only employee form, Unable to commit department form ....
My req is i have two form employee and department m using BTF in two diff tabs. I want the transaction must be independent for both BTF in same application module..
Is this work when you put commit button on page inside BTF ?
If you want to commit particular BTF with commit button placed outside of BTF, you will need to somehow invoke commit operation in BTF.
For example, you can use contextual events( ADF: (re-)Introducing Contextual Events in several simple steps</title> //<title>AMIS Technology Blog &am…)

  • How to process a transaction where a customer needs an Item on Trial basis?

How to process a transaction where a customer needs an Item on Trial basis.
It essentially means that the item should not move to customer's stock. It still has to be the part of inventory valuation.
Couple of options i tried out but i did not find them satisfactory. Such as:
    1) Create an Internal requisition (eventually an Internal Order) and receive the item in the diifferent Warehouse (Same OU) in locator enabled sub inventory. and Locator would capture the customer address to an extent.
    2) Create Consignment Subinventories for customers and store the items in those Subinventories. Although items have been shipped to customer. This way we can still have the item as a part of valuation.
If at all you have done similar kind of stuff or if you could think of better and logical solution, can you please guide me on this?
    Thanks in Advance.

    KS
Lived through that couple of times. But nothing out of the box. But here are some question:
    1. What would you do when you physical or cycle count for this stock? This is physically not here, but you are showing that in your inventory valuation account and showing quantity as well.
    2. What do you do at the end of demo/trial period? What if the customer wants to buy instead of returning? Are these serial controlled items?
    3. Do you use installed base also?
To overcome the first question what we suggested is to park it in a temporary account (say Demo or Trail account) instead of COGS account when you ship. Can be easily done with account generator and a different order type.
If your process is to return no matter what (at the end of the trial period), you may want to create an RMA and book it against the original order as soon it is fulfilled (extension). This helps you to see how many products are out there that are yet to be returned. Link these two orders line_id to line_id (as we do in copying).Keep the original order line status in In Demo or Trial and do not close the line. Once you receive the product against the RMA close the original line.
What about the cost (assuming std cost)? If you are shipping new products on trial basis, they are going out at full cost. When the customer returns them the value is not the same (probably). If yes, do you receive into a different organization where the cost is different or to the original organization? If it is different, the demo account may have some value left out.
    Originally when shipped
    Cr Inventory 100
    Dr Demo A/C 100
If you return into a different organization where the cost is say 50% (assuming you are using std cost).
    Cr Demo A/C 50
    Dr Inventory A/C 50
You can see there is a balance of 50 in the account.
If the customer wants to buy, do you bring the goods back (logically) and ship them again? This is a clean way system wise but pain in neck process wise.
In order to achieve process efficiency not to involve people, you can do this. You can just create bill only order line and invoice the customer. But what about the relieving value from Demo account recognizing COGS account? You have to perform a logical inventory transaction and account for this to cr Demo A/C and Dr COGS A/C at the original cost.
Also demo may be shipped to customer X but they may want to you to invoice to parent company.
I wish there is a clean solution available in Oracle as a standard, but could not find one. Hence a lot of extensions. Still there are lot of more questions, but I limit to these here.
Yes, this Devil is Still Alive :)
    Thanks

  • How to manage transactions in pl/sql instead of java

    Hi,
I have created a pl/sql package with a number of procedures and functions. In one of the functions I'd like to manage the transaction, instead of the jdbc driver. The function is something like:
    update <table> set <column>=<value>
    update <table> set <column>=<value>
    update <table> set <column>=<value> where status=2
    updatecount = sql%rowcount
    if (updatecount = 0) then
    rollback;
    return 0;
    end
    commit;
Now if the last update results in a sql%rowcount being 0 than I want to rollback the entire transaction otherwise a commit is issued.
When I execute this function through a java class which connect with a jdbc driver, it turns out that even though the last update has an updatecount of 0 the rollback is not performed. It looks like the jdbc driver takes over the transaction management. I've tried setting connection.setAutoCommit(false), but get same result. I've also checked the transaction isolation level, which is read committed.
What am I doing wrong and how can I defer the transaction management to the function in question.

If you are using a connection pool, how are you guaranteeing that you are using the same connection throughout the same application? Look at the following:
    1) You grab a connection from the pool
    2) You call procedure A
    3) You call procedure B and issue rollback in procedure
    4) You call procedure C
    5) You close your connection
Are you saying you made changes in procedure A and when you issued a hard rollback in procedure B, the changes in A were not rolled back?
I'm guessing the problem is that you are not issuing your statements using the same connection.

  • Using datasources: How to manage transactions when perform. update/insert?

I've been trying to find information on how datasources manage transacctions but I've been unable to find much information. I've read that for XA datasources you dont have to commit, save and rollback manually, but how are transactions managed for non-XA datasouces?+ I've only seen examples with select statements, such as in the example on this page [this page|http://developers.sun.com/jscreator/reference/techart/2/jdbc.html], but I've never seen a working example with insert and updates.
Can anyone point me to some examples?*
Also, when I use the DriverManager instead of the DataSource for doing updates/inserts I use the setTransactionIsolation(Connection.TRANSACTION_SERIALIZABLE) method. Can that be used with datasources?+

  • How to manage my daughter's new phone account

We just got my 11 year old daughter her first phone (a Samsung S3 Mini). The salesman told us we would be able to use the "Family Base" to control/ turn-on-off her phone, text, web access and email and we would have full control there. Our main goal (as we explained) was to let her have the phone, texting, and gmail, but to turn off her web access (unless she was being supervised - at home). He told us we would definitely be able to keep GMail on, and separately control her web access.  Now that I am looking through the Family Base control center, I'm not really seeing all that.  I see you can manage phone and texting (which we've decided to let her have on), but I don't see management of web access, and I don't see exactly how to manage that separately from her ability to email.
My second issue is... I would like to activate a "Find my Mobile" or "Find My Phone" type service (because I'm worried about her leaving her phone somewhere) but I'm wondering if this service requires that her phone have web access (and maybe location services on?) so that it can function.
Surely there are other adults out there trying to manage their kids the same way I am. Can someone please give me some tips/ best practices or suggestions on how to manage all this?
In addition to my concerns about managing her web usage (while maintaining email), what's the best "find my phone" that I should implement?
    Thank you in advance.

A few things you can do here.
    1) The Verizon Rep Lied to you
    2) You can download Parental Control Apps from the Play Store that are password protected and work much better then Family Base. Look at those and dump Family Base
    3) Download Where's my Droid. It will do all of the find my phone options and much more. check it out
    4) You might also want to download something like Phone Tracker which will allow you to track the phone and its whereabouts near real-time so you can see where she is at all times. (Check local laws in your area first though to make sure you are legal doing this)

  • How to configure global transaction wthin Oracle AS JMS and Oracle JMS

How to configure global transaction if I take a message from Oracle JMS(AQ) and send it to the Oracle JMS?

Which version of OC4J are you working on?
In OC4J 10.1.3.x, presume your OC4J JMS listens messages via MDB which uses a resource adapter as a message listener. The resouce adaper could be the generic JMS adapter deployed in OC4J as the default.
Resource adapter configuration to support MDBs is included in the standard ra.xml file, which lists the message listener types that the resource adapter supports.
The MDB developer or deployer configures the MDB in the ejb-jar.xml file, through a <message-driven> element.
In addition to above, configuration in the ejb-jar.xml file specifies whether an MDB uses transactions.
    1) The <transaction-type> subelement of <message-driven> in ejb-jar.xml has a value of Container, and the <trans-attribute> subelement of <container-transaction> (under the <assembly-descriptor> element) has a value of Required. In this circumstance, if there is an imported transaction, then message delivery and related work are performed within that transaction. If there is no imported transaction, OC4J creates a transaction, and message delivery and related work are performed within that transaction.
    2) The <transaction-type> subelement of <message-driven> in ejb-jar.xml has a value of Bean. In this circumstance, the MDB manages the transaction. If a transaction is imported, OC4J will suspend it before the message delivery method call to the MDB, in order to avoid conflict.
Message delivery is not transacted if the <transaction-type> subelement of <message-driven> in ejb-jar.xml has a value of Container, but the <trans-attribute> element has a value of NotSupported. If there is an imported transaction in this circumstance, OC4J will suspend the transaction before the message delivery method call to the MDB.
Details could be found from OC4J Resource Adapter Guide.

  • How to manage physical sample in SAP?

    Hi,
How to manage physical sample in SAP?
    Regards
    Ashish Jain

    Hi
Physical sample is to keep the sample of a product till its shelf life expiry date. E.g. In case of any shelf life applicable product, the inspected sample will be retained till its expiry date. If any customer complaints are received, on inspecting the complaint, result may be compared with the existing physical sample.
In SAP, Material master should have inspection type 15.
To create physical sample, sample drawing procedure has to be created and attached to the header of inspection plan. With this set up when the lot is created, physical sample will also be created. Result recording should be done for physical sample. Physical sample storage information has to be updated through transaction code QPR2

  • How to add a transaction code in SAP?

    Hello,
i just installed SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.03 SP04. but when i login with a admin user that i created, i dont see any transaction codes under acoounting folder.
1-) how can i add transactions codes to SAP? ( to add invoice, order information etc..)
2-) how can i see these tables in database in SAP
    thanks you
    Regards...

Notice that there are no application tables, transaction, data for modules like FI,SD, MM...
Purpose of trial/demo version available on store.sap.com is to practice ABAP and Basis skills.
For this you have SFLIGHT model and its tables available.
    cheers

  • How to manage CRM System

    Dears:
I am working as the basis administrator, but recently i need to handle the maintainence of the CRM system, i have no idea how to use this system, such as EP,ITS,ICSS and so on.
Do you have any materials to can make me know how to manage this system?
    Thanks.

/etc/project is a better option, you need not reboot everytime. Check the project man pages for more details. You may restart the related processes after the change.
    check projadd, projmod and projdel.

  • How to manage Execution of APO-DP planning on portal ?

    Hi all,
See the scenario is like this :-
-There is a planning area, in that planning area there are planning books.
-If I select a particular one it is giving me screen which is proper.
-On that screen I have two drop down selection fields which are the main concern of this issue(take them as group and subgroup).
-So if I do selection from subgroup first it is showing me details of subgroups.
-But after this selection if I go to group selection it is wiping the subgroup selection and only givin info about groups. It is not showing hierarchy as Group->Subgroup-> Data.
-I want the above execution (<u><b>Group->Subgroup->Data</b></u>)after going 1st to subgroup and then to group will this is possible???
Its urgent If anyone has idea about how to manage the execution of DP planning books please revert back.
note- it is working properly on backend but it is showing this problem on portal screen.
Should I go for new transaction iview for that???
    Regards,
    Aditya

    Dear Vijay,
I doubt if there is any standard settings or configuration is there for this functionality. What i can suggest is either you add seperate key-figures for displaying total of all the periods and write macros to populate key-figure values in it. The second option is initiallize the key-figures for an extra bucket which is really required by the business and populate the total in that extra period by writing macro. By second method there will not be extra key figure required. Apart from writing macros you can use BAPIs for reading the key-figure and adding it and finally populating the key figure values in the key-figure but this is not required as macro is sufficient for populating the key-figure in both the cases.
Please let me know if you think any other better way of doing it.

  • How to manage jms queue?

How to manage jms queue. I want to do operation on messages on jms queue like deleting the messages and hold the message for some time . Please provide the sample code for that.

Thanks a lot Tom for the reply, I have read about the descriptor setting 'max-beans-in-free-pool' and I searched this concept at the Administration Console without success.
I suppose other way is create a “Session Pools” under the JMSServer, and then create a “Consumer” and define the setting “Messages Maximum”. One of the disadvantages is that “Session Pools” don’t support JTA, from the documentation:
+Session pools enable an application to process messages concurrently. Session pools are now used rarely, as they are not a required part of the J2EE specification, do not support JTA user transactions, and are largely superseded by message-driven beans (MDBs), which are a required part of the J2EE specification.+
I continue reading the MDB chapter of the performance and tuning guide in the documentation, thanks for any contribution to the topic.
    Lucas.
