How to merge PDFs?

Hallo,
I am trying to merge several spools of Type PDF into a single PDF document. How can I merge PDF spools or the resulting PDF documents? Or can I convert the spools into another type (e. g. OTF spools) and merge them subsequently?

steps to merge spools of type pdf to single pdf
Have a lock on FM RSPO_RETURN_ABAP_SPOOLJOB, FM RSPO_SR_OPEN and FM RSPO_SR_WRITE.
The first one extracts lines from a spool request. The second one creates a new spool request. The last one write lines into a spool request.
I used these to three to split up huge request into several small requests ...
And after merging your spool requests into one you can convert it to PDF...

The abap program RSTXPDF4 (called from FM CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF) has the code which performs the conversion for one OTF. At one point it gathers the OTF data into an internal table. If you can figure out the content of the OTF, then you may be able to manipulate it such that you can strip out the EOF stuff and append another OTF internal table (perhaps you will also need to update the TOC - remember I said not straightforward!!).
I guess the first step would be to make a z version of RSTXPDF4 and then just play with appending one spool file OTF twice (before going into all the detailed code of accessing temse yourself).

I hope someone can help me, because I am SO frustrated right now! I want to create an electronic document of a 40-page thesis I wrote. I no
longer have the original computer files, so I took digital photos of each page.
Then I converted all the jpegs into pdf files.
Now I want to merge these 40 jpegs into one pdf file.
I read that this is possible with Adobe Acrobat 8 or 9. So, yesterday I downloaded the trial version of what I thought was Adobe Acrobat 9. Well,
two whole hours later, all I could find on my computer was Adobe Reader 9, which would not allow me to merge any pdfs.
So, today, I again reinstalled the Adobe Acrobat 9. Now, after waiting another two hours, there is NOTHING on my computer--no Adobe Reader, no Adobe Acrobat, no desktop icons, nothing in the "All Programs" list when I press the Start menu, etc.
What happened? How could something that took so damned long to download be totally invisible on my computer now? I do see Arcsoft, but that is for photographs. Is it possible to merge pdfs together using Arcsoft?
I have SO much other work to do, and I am so disgusted that I have lost two days on this project, just trying to merge pdfs together! Please, if
you have any suggestions as to how to get Adobe Acrobat 9 as a trial version an/or how to merge pdfs, please answer this post!

Hi. Yes, that is the link from which I downloaded Acrobat 9. I now have this file on my computer: AcroPro90_efg.exe
Yes, I did install it, but one of the times it hanged at 99.96%. Do you know what that means?

How to merge pdf files into one pdf file?

In E-Rec we need the capability to mass printing for correspondance. There i want to merge pdf files for candidates into one pdf file. I am doing the following:
Data: lv_document1           TYPE rcf_s_cs_document_content.
LOOP AT activity_object_tab INTO ls_activity_object.
    lo_act_corr ?= ls_activity_object-activity.
     CALL METHOD lo_act_corr->process_document
       EXPORTING
         channel = 'FRONTEND'
       IMPORTING
         document = lv_document1.
ENDLOOP.
Now lv_document1 contains the pdf file in lv_document1-DOCUMENT_X which is of type RAWSTRING.
This works for one candidate, in this case the pdf for last candidate will be displayed.
But how would i append in the loop or what would i need to do display all candidates in one pdf.
Any help will be appreciated.

How to merge pdf files in Preview in Lion

I've consulted Preview Help to find out how to merge many pdf files into one. The Help window tells me to open each file, and transfer the thumbnail from each opened document into the sidebar of the other. Who wrote this Help item? Once you drag one thumbnail into the other sidebar, the other window closes, and there's no way to drag the closed file into the other file's sidebar. And I've tried! And tried! A helpful way out is to combine the two files, click Print, then save as PDF. But there must be a more direct way to accomplish this merger. Before Leopard, the procedure was easy. Then in Leopard, Apple made it a little more challenging. Finally in Lion, Apple seems to have surpassed itself, making it almost impossible. Does anyone know how to accomplish this Herculean task in an easy way?

It works the same way it did in SL. That's exactly what I did. Are you sure you are dragging the thumnail? I just dragged a pdf to a file of many pdfs combined and it went right in and joined the family. View menu > Thumbnails?

I have a requirement as:
On an ebusiness suite webpage user clicks on a hyperlink.
This downloads a merged pdf form, as:
a. Retrieve pdf document from fnd_lobs
b. Retrieve the data to be merged from a database table in the format merge_field_name, merge_field_value
c. Merge the data and the pdf on the fly.
d. Return the merge pdf file to the webbowser
I have never used XML etc, and browsing metalink etc, it seems the using XML Publisher may be the best way to go.
So, I would appreciate it if I could have the following answers:
1. Is XML publisher the correct tool to use for this, or is their another technology that may be better suited.
2. As we have a number of ebusiness suite applications licensed, would we need to buy an additional license for XML publisher.
3. If I am on the right track, then any pointers on how to start.

1. XMLP will do this for you with a little code.
2. As long as the data for the documents came from the delivered EBS schema (incl flexfields) i.e. not from a custom table. Then you are within the EBS license terms and there would be no extra kicense to purchase.
3.
a. You will need to extract the PDF from fnd_lobs as a PDF document and out it somewhere temporarily.
b. Write the extract and template to format the data into PDF ... this is basic XMLP suff covered in the user guide and the XMLP pages on OTN.
c. You now have your fnd_lobs PDF and the generated one, you can now combine them into a single document using an API. The PDF bookbinder API is the most poweful but there are others available too ... check the user guide for PDFBookBinder and FormProcessor.
d. then you'll need to either stream the resulting PDF to browser yourself or you can use the XMLP OA Framework common region and embed it inside a page.

1) The option of creating the whole thing as a LiveCycle form means that you need to convert the Word document using LiveCycle Designer. The import utility won't preserve the fidelity of the Word document the way printing to the PDF print driver does. It will likely require a fair bit of tweaking in Designer to get it looking like you want. You will likely get frustrated, since Designer is not a word processor.
2) You can create PDF forms in Acrobat without launching LiveCycle Designer. While they look the same to a user as forms created with LiveCycle Designer, behind the scenes they are very different. When you create a form in Acrobat you overlay fields on top of an existing PDF document that you had previously created using the PDF print driver. There is an extensive scripting model for these "Acroforms". The technology pre-dates LiveCycle yet Adobe continues to improve the two forms models in parallel. In Acrobat, open a PDF and select tools-->forms-->show forms toolbar.
3) I recommend this option if it's feasible. I don't know what you mean by "doesn't show up in a flow". If you're going to use the form in Acrobat 7, then save it as Acrobat 7 compatible in LiveCycle Designer. This is one of the options in the Save As dialog of LiveCycle Designer.

If this is a repetitive task, use Automator. Set up a workflow. First use Files & Folders to Get Selected / Specified Finder Items. Then use PDFs Combine PDF Pages (alternatively just drag selected files to the work area rather than use the Files & Folders step). Display the results from this combinng operation, click on it to display it and verify, and then rename it as desired. The operation New PDF from Images should do that last step, but it appears to not work.

I've successfuly implemented code to merge multiple PDFs. However when pointing to an HTML file, my code seems to leave it out and continue to merge the rest of the PDF files. What am I doing wrong with my code?

Since I could open an .html file using Abode Acrobat 9 Pro, I thought I'd be able to pass .html to the .open() method. Am I going about this the wrong way? I have the option to select all files in a particular folder and combine them (.html and .pdf). Does anyone know what method is called when I do this? I have an option to "Combine Supported Files in Acrobat" when I right click on a group of files.

Great idea. do you have example code? I found some code but it its contingent upon the pages having a page number on them. the pdfs im dealing with have no page numbers on the pages. also this code deletes pages in a range. I need to delete all other pages except for the page numbers on the range. thanks! Depending on just what you are trying to do, you can also use DOCUMENT>Insert Pages to add multiple documents or simply drag and drop the documents into the current document (OK, I have not tried this one).

I am trying to find information on how you can merge a PDF document created in LiveCycle and a PDF created in PageMaker or Microsoft Word?
I know that you can easily merge two PDF documents created in the same program, but I am specifically looking for how you can merge two PDF documents created from two different programs. A step by step process would be helpful, if you have that information. Thanks.

You use Assembler for this purpose.

2) Last week I posted on generating and merging PDF's from PostScript. Take a look at the assembly service instance in the .lca. Assembler uses DDX (Document Description XML) to describe document construction. NOTE the .lca was developed with ES 3 (aka ADEP). The .lca It contains the most basic DDX.

I bought the PDF pack so I could merge PDFs from my email together with an excel page. I seem to missing something to be able to get a complete PDF without having to print and scan. Any ideas?

When you use Combine Files to PDF, Adobe PDF Pack stores just the combined PDF file, not the files from which it was created.
Click Combine Files To PDF.
Click Select Files.
Select one of the files that you want to combine.
Click Open.
Click Add Files and select additional files to combine. Click Open.
(Optional) Click the arrows next to the files you’ve selected to change the order in which they are added to the combined PDF.
Enter a name for the combined file, and then click Combine.
Note: You cannot combine PDF files that are secure, password protected, 3D, or part of a PDF Portfolio.
If you are unable to follow the above mentioned steps then please let me know the error you get.
