The Oracle Migration Workbench version 1.4.1.0.0(available from OTN at http://otn.oracle.com/tech/migration/workbench/content.html) will migrate an ACCESS 2000 database.

  • Error migrating SQL Server 2000 database to Oracle.

    Hi,
I am new in SQL Developer.
I read most of the help manuals available on the net.
I am able to create connections to both SQL Server and Oracle database.
I am also able to create the migration repository on the Oracle database.
    SQL server connection - TestSQL
    Oracle database connection - TestOracle
    Migration Repository - Migration_Repository.
Here is the problem am facing:
When I start Migrate to Oracle wizard, by right clicking the TestSQL database, I followed all the required steps and enter the necessary information. -
It starts creating the project - say, TEST but after that it gave the following error:
Migration actions have failed. Check the migration report for more details. : ORA-01400: cannot insert null into ("MIGRATIONS"."MD_PROJECT_ID").
    Please help.

    Thanks for your reply.
You are correct, there were some permission missing on the migration repository user.
I have given permissions and it worked fine.
but I can say that required permission mentioned in other posts and blogs on the Internet are not sufficient.
One has to provide more admin priviligies to this user.

    Arun,
Can you provide a reproducible test case so that we can confirm the behavior here and log a bug? More detail can be found in the log/Error.log in case there is a java exception that is being thrown.

  • SQL Developer 1.5.4 failed to migrate MS Access 2002 database

    Hello,
I tried to migrate a MS Access 2002 Database to Oracle.
Migration of tables failed in both ways:
Exporter for MS Access Rel. 3.2.0.00.13 displayed the following error:
Error #5 - XMLExporter - Ungültiger Prozeduraufruf oder ungültiges Argument c:\Access\Stammdaten_Beton_test.mdb Database Schema Export did not complete successfully.
(translated German parts: "Invalid procedure call or invalid argument")
When using quick migration wizard also an error "Ungültiger Prozeduraufruf oder ungültiges Argument" is raised after Access starts.
    AutoExec, "ShowSplashScreen("_OracleSplashScreen",3)".
    Any ideas?
Access version is MS Access 2002 SP3 (German) on a German Windows XP SP3 system.
    Thank you and best regards

There was a similar issue logged here
    Migrating MS Access database error
They downgraded the mdb file to 2000 and they where able to capture it then.
We will be looking at this issue for a future release.

  • Unsupported Data Type (migration from Access 2000)

    Hi,
I'm trying to convert an MS Access 2000 database, which contains a table with 2 'Binary' data type columns.
The OMWB does not seem to know this Data Type, and the GUI does not allow me to add it. Is there any other way to add this Data Type ??
I should somehow get it to convert to Oracle RAW.
Generating the Oracle Model with the 'Binary' type in the xml file generates errors.
    thanx in advance,
    esther

  • Permissions error when migrating from Access 2000

    Hi
I have an Access 2000 database that is pretty small - only has 8 tables, total DB size is < 24MB. I've gone through all the steps of creating the Oracle model etc and all went without a hitch. However, when I come to migrate table data I get the following error:
Unable to migrate data from source table "tbl Case" to destination table CDSS.tbl_Case : CDSS.tbl_Case; [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] You do not have the necessary permissions to use the "C:\Customers\Vancouver\CDSS\Database\CDSS.mdb" object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you.
There is no security on the Access database so I'm a little unsure as to what is causing this error to occur; does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks very much

There is an option in the users guide for switching off any security in Access. This should solve the problem with permissions

  • How do l create a new database in Oracle 10g Express

How do l create a new database in Oracle 10g Express, other than the one that is created on installation?

    Hello,
You cannot create a second XE database on the same server.
But, Oracle database can support as many Schema as you want.
"Oracle database" is like "SQL Server Instance" and "Oracle Schema" is like "SQL Server database". I means by this shortcut that for
the end users accessing to different Schemas looks like accessing to different databases.
You can have several applications on the same database. Each application has its own Schema and Datafile (Tablespace) structure.
So on your XE database you can add a new Tablespace and create a new User/Schema as follows:
    sqlplus /nolog
    connect / as sysdba
    create tablespace {color:red}new_tablespace_name{color}
    extent management local autoallocate
    SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO
    datafile '{color:red}complete_datafile_name{color}' size 100M autoextend on next 10M maxsize unlimited;
    create user {color:red}new_schema_name{color} identified by {color:red}password{color}
    default tablespace {color:red}new_tablespace_name{color}
    temporary tablespace TEMP
    quota unlimited on {color:red}new_tablespace_name{color}
grant connect, resource to {color:red}new_schema_name{color};Then you can connect to this new User/Schema as you defined it and create your new structure and load datas.
    Hope it can help.
    Best regards,
    Jean-Valentin

  • Migrate peoplesoft sybase HR database to oracle 11g

    Hi All,
We am looking to migrate from sybase 12 to Oracle 11g. We are not sure on which path to choose for this migration to be done. Ths sybase Database is around 55 GB. Below are few questions. Please let me know. The down time on this database can not be more than 2 days at the max.
    1. What is the best and fastest way to do this, if there is one?
    2. Any Documentation on steps involved in migration?
    3. Do we have to use any 3rd party tools for this?
    4. Can we achieve the data migration with sql loader, if yes is it the suggested way to do this and is there any documentation on this?
I tried sql developer to do the migration but it did not go well and finally found that it is not the way to migrate a Database with peoplesoft environment, below is the link to explain more about what I have done with sql developer.
If there is any other information required, below link has almost all the information.
Re: Migrate peoplesoft sybase HRMS database to oracle 11g
    Thanks
    Kranthi

    1)     Build an Oracle Demo system patched to the same release level as the current production system.
    2)     Launch Application Designer and compare the production system to the demo system so you may capture the modifications.
    3)     Load a custom table with the tables listed in the MVPRDEXP.EXP in the production system. Run a script to create an export script for all PSRECDEFN where the RECTYPE is 0. This identifies all application data tables. You may want to dms export large tables in parallel.
    4)     DMS Import the exported data into the Oracle instance.
    5)     Reapply the modifications.

  • How to migrate Azure SQL Codefirst DB to Oracle database?

    Hi,
we have been developing a Web application with Windows Azure Code first  SQL DB using Code first approach.
In the future we want to migrate our Azure SQL Code first DB to Oracle. If we migrate it to Oracle, does the application works fine? or do we need to do any additional actions in migrating from Azure SQL Code first  db to Oracle DB?
It would be great if  anyone provides me complete information on this.

    Hi,
You should be able to move the Azure SQL Code First Database to Oracle Database. You will have to make minor changes, for e.g connection string.
Please have a check on the below link which talks about using Entity Framework 6 Code First with Azure SQL database as a backend. It will give you an idea on how to approach your migration.

  • How do we migrate Hyperion HFM/FDM database from Oracle to MS SQL?

So I have this issue at hand and have ideas that I need to run by people with some expertise. I need to change the databases from Oracle to SQL in a completely new Hyperion installation. I am keeping the version 11.1.2.3 as is. No upgrades.
So I am thinking, Install EPM from scratch into new environment.
Then for HFM just use application copy utility.
For FDM, copy the application file structure and then use SSMA tool to convert the database from Oracle to SQL then configure FDM to new database.
I need to know if there is a better method than these.
    Thank you in advance.

HDM - Copy App Utility, DRM - Use the upgrade wizard should work across same version, FDM is more tricky is the no way you can access the original Oracle db from 11.1.2.3, if so then export everything from workbench.

  • Migrate Informix 7.31 Database into Oracle

    Dear all,
I intend to import an Informix Dynamic Server 7.31 Database into Oracle; In this case it's the database of an old system which is not in use anymore, so the purpose is strictly readonly.
No triggers, few procedures and functions.
I'd like to import the data into Oracle 11g, is this possible or do I have to import into 10g and then upgrade to 11g?
The docs say the migration workbench is the tool of choice, is there anyone who can provide me with some experience?
How do I verify the migration was successful and the data was imported exactly the way it was?
    Thanks in advance,
    Andy

    Andy,
Informix can only be migrated using the older Oracle Migration Workbench 10.1.0.4 and as it says on the web site -
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/migration/informix-085032.html
the only supported versions for the workbench are 9i and 10g.
However, this is only for running the workbench itself and creating the repository. If you do an offline migration then you can run the scripts created by the migration utility in any version of Oracle and load the data using any version of SQL*Loader.
It may be that you can create the repository for the 10.10.4 workbench in an 11g database but I've never tried it.
As for testing there is a section in the documentation -
Oracle® Migration Workbench User’s Guide Release 10.1.0.4 for Microsoft Windows 98/2000/NT/XP and Linux x86
Chapter 7 - Testing the Oracle Database
that discusses how you can test the migrated data.
I've only ever run small test migrations and issues can depend on the complexity of the data and particularly stored procedures and embedded SQL.
If you have no triggers, few procedures and functions then it should be fairly straightforward.
It is planned to include Informix migration in a later version of SQL*Developer but there is no date for that yet.
    Regards,
    Mike

  • Problem converting captured SQL Server 2000 database to Oracle

    Java(TM) Platform     1.6.0_17
    Oracle IDE     2.1.1.64.45
    Versioning Support     2.1.1.64.45
After creating MWREP user, granting it privileges and creating the migration repository, I have captured a small SQL Server 2000 database (1 table), but after performing "Convert to Oracle", I get the message that it has transformed correctly, but no converted model is shown. I was originally using the JRE supplied with SQL Developer 2.1.1, but replaced that with 1.6 U17 after researching the problem here.
The only message in the Migration Log is as follows:
Catalog RAC, Schema dbo coalesced to single schema dbo_RAC
The following message appears in the console:
    SELECT DISTINCT(REF_ID_FK), REF_TYPE FROM MD_ADDITIONAL_PROPERTIES WHERE PROP_KEY IN (?) AND CONNECTION_ID_FK = ?
I have tried this with a more complex database, with no luck.
    Any thoughts?

    I did an offline capture.
I used Tools->Migration->Third Party Database Offline Capture->Create Database Capture Scripts to generate scripts OMWB_OFFLINE_CAPTURE.BAT, SS2K_BCP_SCRIPT.BAT and sqlserver2000.ocp. Then the SQL Server DBA ran OMWB_OFFLINE_CAPTURE.BAT and sent me the output.
I used Tools->Migration->Third Party Database Offline Capture->Load Database Capture Scripts Output to capture the model into the repository successfully.
