How to open a new SESSION in another SESSION

Hi!
I would like to start a transaction in the current session (session 1); I want to open a new session (session 2), execute some updates, do the COMMIT (without commiting the data of the session 1) and close the session 2.
I'm using JSPs and Data Web Beans.
How can I open and close a new session?
I would appreciate an answer?
Thank you.

hi,
You can try to create another properties file only for that session. Then you instantiate the bean, that you want to create the new session, with that new properties file and i think a new session will be created. But im not sure .....
Bye,
RB
P.S.: by the way, what does APAF stands for???

  • How to open Adobe Reader file from another native IOS application?

    There is an existing thread, but I want to re-open it because I think this is an important feature that we need badly.  I was wondering if there is any plan to add this feature so we can open PDFs directly into Adobe from the web / other apps.
    How to open Adobe Reader file from another native IOS application?
    Basically, we just want to use a custom URL scheme to open a specific document in the App.  Currently, this only opens the app but does not load the file.
    APB

    Not to hijack the conversation but I can explain why this would be useful for both the above case and another.
    What I believe Pavel is talking about is setting up a "URL Scheme" for the Adobe Acrobat iOS application so that you can easily open a PDF specifically in Adobe Acrobat iOS from other native applications and even from web applications opened within Safari. This is particularly useful if your application requires some of the specific features in Adobe Reader iOS to grant them the best experience possible and you want to encourage this.
    Another case: If you're using Adobe Livecycle's document security modules (that encrypts PDF files so that Adobe Acrobat must "phone home" to decrypt and view the document), these PDF's can only be viewed inside the Adobe Acrobat application and appear as blank in most other PDF readers. Having a URL scheme allows your application utilising this functionality to have a 1 click step to view the PDF rather than the current non-user friendly process:
    - Within Safari, touch the PDF link (appears as blank in the default Safari PDF reader, which in itself is confusing)
      - Touch "Open in..."
      - Touch "Adobe Acrobat"
    We have an immediate need for this functionality for the example above. I can resubmit it in a separate post if necessary.

  • How do I read uncommitted records of another session

    HI
    How do I read uncommitted records from another session in Oracle
    Thanks
    Ashwin

    Ashwin,
    Oh I might as well add my thoughts on this as it is kinda an important subject. I'm sort of a different kind of programmer where there have been several times I have wanted to see the changed results that another session is doing. I agree that the rest of the sessions should not be able to SEE the changes until they are committed. HOWEVER, as some examples show below, I don't see why a custom package can't be developed to allow a different session to be able to query the changed data for a particular SID, or even begin issuing DML commands of their own on this changed data to help change it further.
    In reality, there is no reason why a single (and I emphasize single) session is the only one who can see the changed data. It's the other user sessions that really should wait until all the necessary changes are complete before others can see the changed information. There isn't much point in me trying to explain this in great detail, but overall YES other users should wait until the changes are committed, but NO I do think I should be able to connect to another SIDs sessions and be able to view/perform operations on this changed data.
    There are more than enough examples of why others should wait before changes are committed (which I agree), but as some of these real life examples point out, there is a need to let more than a single session perform such changes, each of which need to see each other's changed data.
    No I am no expert on transaction processing (Andrew knows more for sure), but I've done enough to know as a developer I have a number of times wanted to be able to access/monitor another sessions uncommitted data. I think some records might be viewable using committed AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION records, but I've yet to really try it out much.
    Examples where one wants to see others uncommitted data
    (+) Say I want to change a hundred / thousand / million tables for a task. Each of these tables require joins/lookups to see each others data (including the changed records). I'm not going to want to do this with one session. Why can't 10 or a 100 sessions be created to allow complex DML operations to be performed to accomplish a given task. It's like thinking of there is 1 session doing this task, but on the oracle side, there are a unlimited number of SIDs processing (100 sqlplus scripts running), all being able to see the uncommitted data. Once everything is done, then the rest of the sessions can see this information.
    (+) A process is running and is changing records, and I want to monitor its progress or even assist it it's getting behind.
    (+) A real life example I just remembered was a soccer game done overseas where a time zone problem allowed people to still be able to place bets even after the game was over (they still paid people even though they knew the final score which was nice of them). In this case yes a process should have been stopped from allowing bets/inserts to continued, but having a second (or more) processes being able to KNOW for certain that another session is inserting data when it shouldn't be, this is can be stopped. And yes once again you can say one can monitor the sga for the appearance of inserts and stop it and yes remove the insert privs from that user after a certain time (come to think of it that wouldn't have worked since the time was off). But yes a whole slue of other things could have been done to stop this process from recording this information. However, NOT being able to select data from that table where the inserts were going into, until its toooooooooo late, is a real problem. Being able to see uncommitted information is very important if it needs to be stopped.
    Overall I do think there should be something considered to allow to a session to be able to see what data another session is doing, but it's more on the side from administration of the data and the performance required to get a task done, even if it means sharing uncommitted changes between sessions.

  • How to open a new tab after current browsing session.

    I used to use new tab king, and when I opened a new tab, it would always open the new tab to the very right of my session, out of the way and not somewhere randomly in the middle. However, I wanted my restored windows to open where I had closed them in my session. I have since changed to use new tab plus instead, and it worked that same way before, but since I updated to firefox 26, it seems to have reset that option (as well as others), it opens in the middle of the session now instead of the end.

    I'm not sure what you mean by the middle of the ''session''.
    Do you mean the middle of the tab bar in the current window? There is a setting for whether to open a link in a new tab adjacent to the page where you clicked the link or always at the end of the tab bar. If that's what you mean, here's how you can switch it:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''tabs''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent''' preference to switch it from true to false.
    But I'm not sure that's what you meant... also, extensions may override Firefox's built-in behaviors with their own tab settings.

  • How to open a new page from a Spry Table click, with element info?

    Hello, Spry experts!
    This is probably simple, but I've searched for hours and can't find what I need. I'm using Dreamweaver CS4 and Spry 1.6.1 to create a simple Spry Table from an XML data set using PHP as my back end.  I've used Dreamweaver's Insert->Spry->Spry Data Set to create everything, and the table is working fine.  Colors, clicks, sorts, etc., are all working correctly as expected.
    What I want is to be able to add a behavior such that when a table row is clicked, I can open a new page.  Moreover, I want to pass a parameter from the table to the new page, like http://www.mydomain.com/newpage.php?aid=12345 or whatever.
    So, for example, my table has two columns, "a_id" and "a_name", and my repeat region looks like this:
    <div spry:region="xml_assignments">
    <table width="500">
    <tr>
    <th spry:sort="a_id" class="spry_header">ID</th>
    <th spry:sort="a_name" class="spry_header">Assignment</th>
    </tr>
    <tr spry:repeat="xml_assignments" spry:setrow="xml_assignments" spry:odd="spry_odd" spry:even="spry_even" spry:hover="spry_hover" spry:select="spry_select">
    <td>{a_id}</td>
    <td>{a_name}</td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </div>
    What I want is to be able to open an entirely new URL, passing the value of the {a_id} in the selected row as a parameter to the new URL, as in something like:  http://www.mydomain.com/newpage.php?aid={a_id}
    So my questions are:
    1. How best to apply the action to the table?  Add an onclick to the tr tag?  Something else?
    2. How to extract the {a_id} value from the current row and pass it as a parameter to the action?
    Or maybe just take another approach entirely?
    I know that I can make the actual text in the table cells hyperlinks, and use them to link to the new page, which is fine.  The desire here is just to make it so that the user can click "anywhere" on the table row (as they can currently do with the spry:select behavior) and have the link kick off, whether they actually click on the linked text or somewhere in the row where there is no text.
    I'm sure this is obvious and simple, but I'm new to this level of Spry detail, and my brain is fried from hunting.  Any guidance will be gratefully appreciated!
    Glen Barney

    I found the answer myself, after posting this, of course!
    I changed:
    <tr spry:repeat="xml_assignments" spry:setrow="xml_assignments" spry:odd="spry_odd" spry:even="spry_even" spry:hover="spry_hover" spry:select="spry_select">
    to
    <tr spry:repeat="xml_assignments" spry:setrow="xml_assignments" spry:odd="spry_odd" spry:even="spry_even" spry:hover="spry_hover" spry:select="spry_select" onclick="window.location.href='./newpage.php?aid={a_id}';">
    Basically just added the onclick parameter...
    And it all just worked!

  • How to open a new window from submit button &dialog page in current window?

    We have a requirement, wherein we have a OAF search page for PO lines with search criteria, Go button to search ,result region (table layout) and a submit button(Create new expedite).
    1. Now user can select some lines from result region and click on Submit button.
    2. On click of submit button we need to pop up a window or may be a dialog page asking that " Do you want open supplier web link portal or not?".
    3. If user clicks yes(in Dialog page) then first fetch the URL from a look up maintained in Oracle EBS on the basis of supplier of the lines selected and then open that URL in a new window and side by side we need to open a dialog page in search page asking "whether user has updated the expedite info in supplier portal or not?". On basis of this we need to updated some count in custom tables.
    So in step 3 i am facing problem, that how to open an URL in a new window through a submit button and side by side want to open a dialog page in the current window also.
    Hope a quick response from you all.
    Note:- To open a custom page we can have a link or button(button of type button and not submit button) on base page with destination url property as following javascript:
    javascript:var a = window.open('OA.jsp?page=/XXX/oracle/apps/xxx/......&retainAM=Y', 'a','height=500,width=900,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no'); a.focus();
    So the question is how to do the same for submit button on OAF page???

    Antriksh,
    You just need to attach a submit action in button bean and not submit button bean, based on the output of confirm type of alert in javascript.
    Here is code u need to put in destination url of the button:
    //replace <confirm message> by message you want to show.
    javascript:input=confirm('<confirm message>');if(input==true){submitForm('DefaultFormName',0,{XXX:' abc'});}" Now in the process request of the base page CO, u can get parametre 'XXX' from the pagecontext....so
    if((("abc").equals(pageContext.getParameter("XXX"))))
    {/// custom LOGIC }
    The same i have replied in your mail. I hope this resolves the issue.

  • How to open a new pop-up window on click of a link using OAFunctions

    Hi ,
    I have a requirement to open a new pop-window on click of the responsibility name(functions available under responsibilities). The current URL /link is driven using OAFunctions.
    Any idea, how can i open a new window while still keeping the parent window as it is?
    Regards
    Puja

    This can be achieved, you need to first create the javascript function which will open the popup and add that to the HomePage through and then call that function during onLoad of the HomePage. Here is a code sample,
    1. Extend the page level controller and write a new controller
    2. Write the following code in processRequest before calling super.
    StringBuffer popupScript = new StringBuffer("function customPopUp() { ");
    popupScript.append("newWindow = window.open(theURL,'newWindow','toolbar=no,menubar=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no,status=no,location=no,width=300,height=500);}");
    pageContext.putJavaScriptFunction("customPopUp", new String(popupScript));
    OABodyBean bodyBean = pageContext.getRootWebBean();
    bodyBean.setOnLoad("customPopUp");
    3. Use personalization to replace the existing controller with your extended controller and the popup should be launched whenever you enter the homepage.

  • How to open a new browser window from a JSP page?

    Hi,
    I am picking up records from the database and displaying each record in a seperate text area field using the JSP code. I should be able to display the content ( available in the text area) in a seperate window if the user clicks on one icon.
    Is it possible to open a new browser window using JSP? If yes, how can I write information on the new browser window?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Firefox is saving last session when closed, and it won't open a new window once a session is started.

    Firefox 3.6.13 running on Windows XP SP 3, Zonealarm 9.3
    Noticed that I can no longer open new windows - the cursor blinks momentarily and then nothing happens. After closing a Firefox window, cannot run Firefox without a system restart. After a system restart, Firefox will open but will either restore the last session or give an error that it cannot restore the last session. My start-up option is to go to my Home Page, which is google. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and the problem continues.

    The "System Tray" is located at the very bottom right of your screen and is a list of most/all running applications that will show in this list.
    For your SysFader issue, this "may" be the problem:
    1 Find the "My Computer" desktop icon and right-click it. A pull-down menu will appear. Select "Properties."
    2 Click on the "Advanced" tab. This will load a new page of options.
    3 Select the "Visual Effects" tab at the top of the window and deselect "Animate Windows when minimizing and maximizing," "Fade or slide menus into view," "Fade or slide Tool Tips into view" and "Fade out Menu items after checking."
    4 Click "OK." This will remove most if not all of the Sysfader effects, at the same time correcting related errors that used to come up during opening a new file or program.

  • How to open a new IE page when user clicks on a button or link

    Hi Experts,
    I have created WD program which fetches data from R/3.
    I have to create a link or button on the WD program. When the user will click on the link, another IE page should open. Some processing will be carried out by WD. The result of WD processing should be displayed in this new IE page.
    Regards,
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
    You need to create a seperate window and embed a new view in it. and yeah for accessing that window you need to create one apllication also which is connected to this window.
    Then in the event handler of the button's click action write the follwing code:-
    String deployableObjectName =
                   wdComponentAPI.getDeployableObjectPart().getDeployableObjectName();
    try {
                   // Get deployable object part of target application.
                   // Precondition: assume, that other application belongs to the same
                   // Web Dynpro Project (Deployable Object)
                   WDDeployableObjectPart deployableObjectPart =
                        WDDeployableObject.getDeployableObjectPart(
                             deployableObjectName,
                             <window name>,
                             WDDeployableObjectPartType.APPLICATION);
                   urlToTargetApp =
                        WDURLGenerator.getWorkloadBalancedApplicationURL(
                             deployableObjectPart,
                             UrlParam);
              } catch (WDURLException e) {
              } catch (WDDeploymentException e) {
                              IWDWindow win1 =  wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createNonModalExternalWindow(urlToTargetApp,"Ouput");
    win1.show();
    This will open a new window and then in the wddoinit of the new window's view you can execute the bapi and display the content accordingly.
