How to pass a multiple value parameter to SQL Command?

Hi,
I created a SQL Command with parameter. But, I need the parameter to be set as multiple value. After creating the SQL Command and it's parameter under the Database Expert, I went to Field Explorer ---> Parameter Fields and found the parameter that I had created for the SQL Command. But when I wanted to edit the parameter to make it a multiple value parameter, the multiple value option was fix grayed as single parameter and I couldn't change it to multiple parameter. Is there any way that I can set a parameter that is attached to SQL Command as multiple value rather than single value? Thanks.
Cheers,
Al

Al,
That's a feature that, apparently, is only available in CR 2008. If you are using CR 2008, use this link to see how to do it.

• How to pass checkbox multiple value in URL as parameter?

Hello,
I have a checkbox in two page. The checkbox is based on a LOV and user can check more than one value at a time. The return value of the checkbox is like "ID1:ID2".
I want to call another page with the same checkbox item and want to pass the checked value via the URL.
This cause problem because checked value are separated with : that not work in URL.
So, how can I pass checkbox multiple value in parameter via an URL?
Thanks
Jean

Jean,
Why pass it in a URL instead of just using what's in session state? On your second page, set the Source Type of the check box item to ITEM and enter the name of the check box item on the first page.

• How to pass the Bound values to VO SQL Query during runtime?

Hi all,
I have the following sql query;
SELECT NOTIFICATION_ID
FROM xx_NOTIFICATION_V
WHERE COMPANY = NVL(:1, COMPANY)
AND INITIATOR = NVL(:2,INITIATOR)
AND PAYGROUP = NVL(:3, PAYGROUP)
AND SOURCE = NVL(:4, SOURCE)
AND SUPPLIER_NAME = NVL(:5,SUPPLIER_NAME)
AND TRX_DATE BETWEEN NVL(:6,TRX_DATE)
AND NVL(:7,TRX_DATE)
If i click GO button on search page then it pass the selected Poplists values as a Bound values to VO Sql query at runtime after this I store the search results in a Table(Which is created by using New Region Wizard).
I want to pass the Bind parameter values to VO SQL query during runtime and :1,:2,:3,:4,:5,:6,:7 values are coming from Poplists.
I search through forum I found many threads regarding Bind Values but those all are passing ID's only not String(Varchar) values.
How to pass the Character values to VO Query.
Please anyone help me on this.
Thanks in Advance.

• How can I return multiple values with PL/SQL Web Services

Hi,
I'm new to developping Web Services. I'm doing some tests with JDeveloper and OC4J on my local machine with a Web Services based on a PL/SQL function within a package. Right now that function only returns one value. So the xml response only has one output.
I'd like to know how can I return multiple values with my PL/SQL Web Service. For example, if I want to return an employee's name and id? And that the xml contains two output : <employee>, <empid>?
Reginald
ps : I have searched the forum and I couldn't find an answer to this question, if that has been discussed AND answered before, can you please post the link? Thanks

Alright, I actually found my answer. Since this was asked I think as a followup somewhere else I'll give my answer.
It is very simple, all you have to do is create an Object Type and then Return that object type. After that, JDeveloper will take care of everything and you will have an xml response with multiple values. Here
{color:#ff0000}
create or replace TYPE person AS OBJECT
( id_interv number,
first_name VARCHAR2(50),
last_name VARCHAR2(50),
date_birth date
);{color}
Then your function used in your Web Service should look something like this :
{color:#ff0000}
function info_emp (p_empno IN VARCHAR2) RETURN person AS
l_emp person := person(-1,'','','');
BEGIN
SELECT first_name
,last_name
,emp_no
INTO l_emp.first_name
,l_emp.last_name
,l_emp.emp_no
FROM emp
WHERE upper(emp_no) = upper (emp_no);
{color}
{color:#ff0000}
RETURN l_emp;
EXCEPTION WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
l_emp := person (-1,'n/a','n/a','n/a');
RETURN l_emp ;
END info_emp;{color}
{color:#ff0000}{color:#000000}After that, this is what the xml response looks like :{color}{color}
<first_name xsi:type="xsd:string">John</first_name>
<last_name xsi:type="xsd:string">Doe</last_name>
<emp_no xsi:type="xsd:string">0250193</emp_no>

• How can I search multiple columns in a SQL command of Union tables

Hi:
We have a database with tables that are nearly identical that we use for production and production history.
I have created an SQL command in Crystal 2008 to joins several of the tables and then added a "UNION" to connect the History and Prod tables.
I need to search multiple (3 total) columns for 5 different data types, to return the records being investigated. I tried this using an "OR" statement in the where clause and have had inconsistant results.
The first two or statement function perfectly the third works as long as the value being passed is numeric and the last two fail consistantly with invalid column name errors. It appears that crystal is getting confused and passing the wrong data type especially if I do a new search using a different option for the "?SearchParam"
Can some one offer some insite on how I can search these fields to return the record data needed

This is actually a fairly easy fix - because of the way the "OR" works in SQL, you need to surround each "set" of statements in the or with parentheses. So, it would look something like this:
Where
({?aSearchParam} = 1 and "MFG_PLANT_LI"."PRFR_MFG_PLANT_FLG"='Y' AND "TBSLI21"."LI21_OR_NO"=Cast( {?Search_Val} as Int))
or
({?aSearchParam} = 2 and "MFG_PLANT_LI"."PRFR_MFG_PLANT_FLG"='Y' AND "TBSLI33"."LI33_CI_OR_NO"=Cast( {?Search_Val} as numeric(12,0)))
or
({?aSearchParam} = 3 and "MFG_PLANT_LI"."PRFR_MFG_PLANT_FLG"='Y' AND Convert( VarChar(20),"TBSLI33"."LI33_EXT_SYS_SL_OR_NO")= Convert( VarChar(20), {?Search_Val}))
or
({?aSearchParam} = 4 and "MFG_PLANT_LI"."PRFR_MFG_PLANT_FLG"='Y' AND Convert( VarChar(8),"TBSLI21"."LI21_OP_GRP_NO") = Convert( VarChar(8), {?GroupNo}))
or
({?aSearchParam} = 5 and "MFG_PLANT_LI"."PRFR_MFG_PLANT_FLG"='Y' AND Convert( VarChar(8), ("TBSOP13"."OP13_CLR_DAY" & "TBSOP13"."OP13_PP_GRP_SEQ_NO" & "TBSOP13"."OP13_CELL_ID")) = Convert( VarChar(8), {?GroupNo}))

• Passing single/multiple values to stored proc parameter from crystal report

I tried below solution posted on this forum to pass either a single value or multi-value to a sql server stored procedure parameter (varchar datatype) from crystal report XI R2.
In my crystal report , I am displaying all the available parameter values to the user and the user will select either a single value or multi value.
This worked when I select single value and when I say show sql query in my subreport I see the following:
{CALL "XYZ"."dbo"."storedprocedurename";1('Product 1')}
But this did not worked when I selected multiple values and when I say show sql query in my subreport I see the following:
{CALL "XYZ"."dbo"."storedprocedurename";1('Product 1,Product 2')}
I think it might work if it is as below:*
For multiple values:
{CALL "xyz"."dbo"."storedprocedurename";1('Product 1', 'Product 2')}
Please advise.
Solution Posted on this forum is as follows:
Hi,
As you must be aware of that a crystal report created of a stored procedure will allow only a single value for inserting a multiple value as a parameter in your report and pass those values to your stored procedure please follow the below work around which will be helpful for you.
Symptom
In Crystal Reports, you want to pass a multi-value parameter to a stored procedure. The problem with doing so is that Crystal Reports considers the multi-value parameter to be an array.
How can you pass a multi-value parameter to a stored procedure?
Resolution
Here are the steps to pass a multi-value parameter to a stored procedure:
1. Create a Crystal report, and add a multi-value parameter.
2. Since the multi-value parameter is treated as an array, create a formula that uses the JOIN function. Create a formula as below:
//Formula: @JoinFormula
Join ({?Multi-value parameter array},";")
====================
NOTE:
In the formula above, a semi-colon (";") is the delimiter.
====================
3. Within the main report, create a subreport based on the stored procedure, and include the parameter to be populated with the multi-value list.
4. Link the Join formula in the main report to the stored procedure parameter in the subreport.
Doing so passes a multi-value parameter to the stored procedure.
Regards,
Vinay

Hi Vinay,
First you need to make sure the stored procedure accepts multiple values in the fashion 'a','b','c'.
Then, create this formula in the Main Report:
numbervar i;
stringvar s;
for i:= 1 to ubound({?Parameter}) do
s := s + "'" + {?Parameter} + "'" + ",";
left(s,len(s)-1);
Link this formula to the sub-report's parameter.
Hope this helps!

Hi, Ming,
One way is to put the "parameters" in a table, and join to that table in your query. If you make it a Global Temporary Table, then multiple sessions can run the query at the same time, and each can be seeing different responsibilities.
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data. Since this problem involves parameters, you should give a couple of different sets of parameters, and the results you want from the same sample data for each set.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say what version of Oracle you're using (e.g. 11.2.0.2.0).

• How to pass a combo box parameter on reporting services?

How to pass a combo box parameter on reporting services?
For example, a report has a parameter which is a combo box, its items came from a database query.
Looks like the combo box didn't got populated and greyed out if I didn't pass the parameter.

Hi LAScorpion,
In Reporting Services, if we want to pass a combo box parameter (means signal-parameter) from one report (main report) to another report (subreport), we can enable an action with “Go to report” or “Go to URL” option to achieve the requirement. For more details,
please see:
Method1: Go to report
Right-click a report item to open the properties dialog in subreport, click Action in the left pane.
Enable Go to report action, then select the main report name in the drop-down list.
Add a parameter as below:
Select ID (a parameter name from main report) in the drop-down list of Name, and select [ID] (a field name from subreport) in the drop-down list of Value.
Method2: Go to URL
Right-click a report item to open the properties dialog in subreport, click Action in the left pane.
Enable Go to URL action, the URL below is for your reference:
="javascript:void(window.open('http://server_name/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2ffolder_name%2fmain_report_name&rs:Command=Render&parameter_name="& Parameters!parameter_name.Value &"'))"
Besides, if the parameter’s values are based on other parameters, then the combo-box got greyed out when we haven’t select values in preceding parameters. For more details, please see:
Cascading Parameters
If there are any misunderstanding, please elaborate the issue for further investigation.

• How can i pass the Input value to the sql file in the korn shell ??

Hi,
How can i pass the Input value to the sql file in the korn shell ??
I have to pass the 4 different values to the sql file and each time i pass the value it has to generate the txt file for that value like wise it has to generate the 4 files at each run.
can any one help me out.
Raja

Can you please more elaberate., perhaps you should more elaberate.
sqlplus is a program. you start it from the korn shell. when it's finished, processing control returns to the korn shell. the korn shell and sqlplus do not communicate back and forth.
so "spool the output from .sql file to some txt file from k shell, while passing the input parameters to the sql file from korn shell" makes no sense.

• [HELP] using multiple value parameter in c:import tag

I need to pass a multi-value parameter to a included page. e.g.
http://myhost/MyContext/dir1/page1.jsp?abc=value1&abc=value2/dir1/page1.jsp includes /dir2/page2.jsp, and would like to pass this multi-value parameter over, but change the name to xyz, some what like
<c:import url="/dir2/page2.jsp?xyz=value1&xyz=value2"/>The problem is that the number of values is not fix number, so I have to write some logic to iterate thru its parameter values. But the <c:import> tag body allows only simple listed <c:param> tags, it doesn't allow other logic/condition/iteration.

<c:import url="/dir2/page2.jsp">
<c:forEach var="xyz" items="${paramValues.abc}">
<c:param name="xyz" value="${xyz}"/>
</c:forEach>
</c:import>{code}
I also tried <c:url> tag. The good news is that it supports jsp logic in body:
{code}<c:url var="url" value="/dir2/page2.jsp">
<c:forEach var="xyz" items="${paramValues.abc}">
<c:param name="xyz" value="${xyz}"/>
</c:forEach>
</c:url>
<c:out value="${url}"/>{code}but it prefixes the url with the current context:
{code}/MyContext/dir2/page2.jsp?xyz=value1&xyz=value2{code}
Now I run into a dead end. It seems the only way out is to use <% %> scriptlet to do my own url composite, which is pretty similar to <c:url> but avoid the context part.
Any suggestion?

out.println("
");
out.println("
");
out.println("");
out.println("
");
out.println("
");
My personal suggestion is to use follow the MVC (Model View Control) pattern where in you can write all your "html" part in a JSP.
Model -> Bean
View -> JSP
Control -> Servlet
