How to populate values from database into a Combo Box?

Hi,
How to display all the values of a field of a database table in a combo box inside a grid in B1 user defined form?
Regards,
Sudeshna.

Hi,
If you are trying to do this on a system form (I gues this is your case, reading the other question), for example Sales Orders, and you want to show the values from a User Defined Table (UDT), you just need to add a User Defined Field on Marketing Documents Line level, and say it is linked to the UDT.
SBO will automatically show the combo with the values on the Code field of the UDT.

Ibai Peña
Sorry, I didn´t read the post well.
What you could do is each time the form is loaded, read the values from the table, and asign them as Valid Values for the combobox column. You can do this programatically, or using XML (which is recommended becouse of better performance).

  • How to load values from database into the f:selectItems value attribute

    Hi,
    I am trying to load the drop down menu value i.e f:selectItems from the database with a list of values from a column in the databse table. how can i do this? Should i use binding? or is there any other way.
    Note:i am able to load values into f:selectItems from the faces-config.xml file but they are static values. i want the values from the database
    Please reply with sample codes of faces jsp, bean file and config.xml file

    But this is working for me,
    JSF
         <h:selectOneMenu value="#{loadbean.grade}" >
              <f:selectItems value="#{loadbean.gradelist}" />
         </h:selectOneMenu>
    bean
    private String grade;
    private List<SelectItem> gradelist;
    public String getGrade() {
              return grade;
         public void setGrade(String grade) {
              this.grade = grade;
         public List<SelectItem> getGradelist() {
              return gradelist;
         public void setGradelist(List<String> items) {
              gradelist=new ArrayList<SelectItem>();
              gradelist.add(new SelectItem("daniel"));//this value can be from data base
              gradelist.add(new SelectItem("pspindia"));
              gradelist.add(new SelectItem("prelude sys"));
    faces-config.xml
    <managed-property>
              <property-name>gradelist</property-name>
              <null-value/>
    </managed-property>
    this working fine for me. So setter method also works to load value for the h:selectItems
    Thanks a lot.

    i think normally u will get data from databsae as objects.they are like java beans having getter and setter methods.so you create a collection of those objects like collect all the objects coming from database into an arraylist or....
    suppose you want to populate the dropdown box with say "username" from database object s, your code will look like that
    <html:select property="name">
    <html:options collection="databaseList" property="username" />
    </html:select>
    "databaseList" is collection(say.. ArrayList) of objects you are getting from database.this dropdown will contain all the "usernames" you are getting from database.

  • How to populate data from table into datagrid in form

    hi there. may i know how to populate data from a table into a datagrid? i have created a datagrid in a form using OLE's microsoft datagrid. i'm having problem to populate data from table into the grid. can i know how to do that? thanks

    Not exactly. I want to enter input from form and the user can have all options to choose i.e. HIGH, MEDIUM or so on.
    Suppose, you have option to select HIGH, MEDIUM or LOW and you can see all these options together. You select LOW and when you save, it is saves in the table as a value. So when you view the table again, it will show LOW as active and HIGH and MEDIUM are null.

  • How to fetch records from the database into a combo box?

    Hi:
    I&acute;m really new with ABLBPM and I&acute;m trying to fetch records from the database to display them into a combo box as valid values for a presentation but I&acute;m using a dynamic method with this code:
    <em>for each row in SELECT campo1, campo2 from TABLE</em>
    <em>do</em>
    <em>solicitudes[] = [row.campo1, row.campo2]</em>
    <em>end</em>
    <em>return solicitudes
    </em>And the debugger says that SQL instructions can be used only in fuctions and procedures that are executed on the server.
    Do you know another way to do it?

    Oh dear. I don't think anybody can advise you until you are not "kinda" new to Java anymore. Learn Java itself (the language, the platform and the tools), only then should you start considering going into web development.

    hi,
    u can use character '%'.sample code like this
    SELECT reltype
                 instid_a
                 catid_a
                 instid_b
                 FROM /dbm/ord_docflow
                 INTO TABLE it_link
                 FOR ALL ENTRIES IN it_pnwtyh
                 WHERE  instid_a  =  it_pnwtyh-instid_a AND
                 instid_b  LIKE 'QMSM%'  AND
                 typeid_a  = 'BUS2400'  AND
                 typeid_b  = 'BUS2400' AND
                 catid_a   = 'BO' AND
                 catid_b   = 'BO' AND
                 reltype   = 'VONA'.
    this is similar to using* while we fetch values from table.in the above code only i no QMSM rest values not sure,so used QMSM%

    we have  two custom fields in Purchase Requisation  ( ECC ), my requirement is to  same fields i want to create in SC Item Tab, i have included in tem Tab, but now i want to populate the values from ECC  to SRM, can any give me idea how to do this
    Thanks
    Kumar Srini

    Hi,
    You need to create two custom fields in the shopping cart corresponding to the two fields in purchase requisition.
    After that, you need to map the two fields in ECC to SAP SRM. In srm spro settings, you can find the mapping options.

  • *SELECT: How to select value from cube into variable?

    Hi,
    I have an application that need lots of complex calculations.  Currently I am facing problem in retrieving a value from BPC application/database (BW cube) into a script logic local variable.  Let's say the application has  these  following dimensions
    1.  FYPD ( fiscal yr period. 200901, 200902 etc)
    2.  REGION ( A, B , C , D etc)
    3.  PRODUCT(Product ID)
    4.  VERSION ( ACTUAL, FORECAST etc)
    5.  AMOUNT (Sales Amount, signed data )
    Now I need to extract the sales amount into a local valriable where REGION = "A" and  PRODUCT = "SMK-1234" and FYPD = "200905"  and VERSION = "ACTUAL"
    What's should be the equivalent SELECT command? I tried but could not figure out. Any help?
    Regards
    DipM

    Hi DipM,
    There isn't really a concept of local variables for values in script logic. Instead, you'll want to use *WHEN, *LOOKUP, or MDX statements.
    For example, this will copy the value you mention into the PLAN version:
    *WHEN REGION
    *IS A
    *WHEN PRODUCT
    *IS SMK-1234
    *WHEN FYPD
    *IS 200905
    *WHEN VERSION
    *IS ACTUAL
    *REC(FACTOR=1,VERSION=PLAN)
    *ENDWHEN
    *ENDWHEN
    *ENDWHEN
    *ENDWHEN
    See *WHEN ([link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bpc70sp02/helpdata/en/36/339907938943ad95d8e6ba37b0d3cd/frameset.htm]) and *REC ([link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bpc70sp02/helpdata/en/25/8d51050c43496887ddff88f13e5f1a/frameset.htm]) documentation for more.
    As mentioned, you can also use *LOOKUP or MDX statements to look up values and drive calculations in *REC(EXPRESSION=....) statements. This functionality is outlined in the SP02 documentation addendum ([link|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000088146&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&]).
    In the MS Version of BPC, there is a concept of local MDX variables that work with the specialized *GO script logic statement. This statement is not available in the Netweaver version.

  • How to put data from database into array

    I need to answer hot to put data from database directly into array.
    I tried like the code below but the error message said: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0, and it points to this line: numbers [row][0]= rs.getString("ID");
    Hope you can help.
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
         int row=0;
         String [] [] numbers=new String [row][10];
         // output resultset
         while ( rs.next() )
              numbers [row][0]= rs.getString("ID");
              numbers [row][1]= rs.getString("name");
         row++;
         // close resultset
         rs.close();
    thanks,Devi

    The exception is been thrown simply because you assigned '0' to the 'row' variable, indicating a zero length of the array. In fact you should assign the row count to it.
    After all, don't do that. Make use of the Collection framework and map the ResultSet to a Collection of DTO's.
    List<User> users = new ArrayList<User>();
    while (resultSet.next()) {
        User user = new User();
        user.setID(resultSet.getString("ID"));
        user.setName(resultSet.getString("name"));
        users.add(user);
    }

  • How to place values from Forms into email?

    Andreas sugested the following statement to navigate from forms to emal:
    HOST('cmd /c c:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe url.dll,FileProtocolHandler "mailto:[email protected]?cc=[email protected]&bcc=[email protected]&subject=mysubject&body=mybody"');
    It works just fine placing [email protected] to to:, [email protected] to cc, [email protected] to bcc, mysubject to subject ,and
    mybody to the text area.
    Question:
    How to rearrange the string if I need to place values from the fileds in the form:
    :control.to (can consist of [email protected];[email protected];......;[email protected]) value in the filed should go to to: in the email;
    :control.cc ((can consist of [email protected];[email protected];......;[email protected]) value in the filed should go to cc in the email;
    :control.bcc ((can consist of [email protected];[email protected];......;[email protected]) value in the filed should go to bcc in the email;
    :control.subject:='xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx' value in the filed should go to subject in the email;
    :control.text:='vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv' value in the filed should go to the text area in the email;
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks. Lev.

    Have you tried:
    HOST('cmd /c c:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe url.dll,FileProtocolHandler "mailto:'||:control.to
    ||'?cc='||:control.cc||'&bcc='||:control.bcc||'&subject='||:control.subject||'&body='||:control.text||'"');Craig B-)

  • How to Load Values From Database on page load?

    I am sure this is easy but... I have a website that lists products similar to the way Amazon lists them. Each product is listed in a separate HTMP table cell complete with Product Name, Desciption, Image and Pricing. Any given product will appear on many different pages within the website. I have a mysql dtabase that has columns that define the primary key, the Product Name, the Product Description and Pricing. I was hoping to use the Dremaweaver Recordset to load the correct pricing and product description for each product on any given web page at the time the page is loaded by the user. Surely I must be able to run an SQL query based on a hiiden vale (e.g. the primary key or name of the product) in order to fill in the correct descriotion and pricing. Am I on the right track or is there a better way to do this? Put another way, how do you load your product data from a database onto a web page without using URL paraneters?

    Yes, you are on the right track. Besides URL parameter you can filter a recordset with a session variable, cookie, or entered value.

  • How to populate data from table into Radio button group in Form 10g

    Hi,
    I have a table with 2 columns, i.e. criteria and weight.
    The weight column will contain either 5 or 4 or 3.
    I want to design a form (10g) as follows:
    CRITERIA----------------------------WEIGHT------------------
    ------------------------HIGH----------MEDIUM-------------LOW
    Cost-------------------o
    Duration-------------------------------o
    Maintenance-------------------------o
    If the criteria contains 5, it will show as HIGH, MEDIUM for 4, LOW for 3.
    Do I need one radio group for each CRITERIA column?
    How can I populate the table and display as above programatically in the form?

    Not exactly. I want to enter input from form and the user can have all options to choose i.e. HIGH, MEDIUM or so on.
    Suppose, you have option to select HIGH, MEDIUM or LOW and you can see all these options together. You select LOW and when you save, it is saves in the table as a value. So when you view the table again, it will show LOW as active and HIGH and MEDIUM are null.

  • How to Retrieve data from database into another form ?

    Good Day!
    Am currently new at JSP. I've been studying it for awhile and still getting the hang of it. We are working on a project.
    Editing a given data. We have to retrieve the given data and post it to another form "Editing form".
    Since we can retrieve data using JSP but how are we going to post it to another form? I mean how are we going to transfer data from one form to another?
    Can anyone help me with codes please..

    The client is a web browser.
    The client submits a request (click a link, visit a form)
    The server gets to respond to this
    - look at request parameters from the client
    - access database
    - produce resulting html page
    - send page back to client.
    The standard pattern is to retrieve data from the database in java code, and then load that data into a bean.
    You then make that bean available as an attribute
    It is then available for use in your JSP - either <jsp:useBean> tag or using ${ELexpressions}
    All you can pass from the client to the server is request parameters - which are always strings.
    Draw a picture of where the information is, and the information flows. Very rarely does it go directly from one "form" to another.

  • How to populate values from ParentWindow to ChildWindow using ORACLE ADF

    Hi,
    I have code something like,
    <af:commandButton text="Search" partialSubmit="true">
    <af:clientListener method="openpopup" type="action"/>
    <af:clientAttribute name="popupId" value="confirmationDialog"/>
    </af:commandButton>
    <af:inputText id="input1" contentStyle="width:200px" value="#{advanceSearch.input1}"/>
    on click on this button it will invoke javascript openpopup() function which interns opens the popup- window.
    I am not able to retrieve results from parent window to child windows.
    i.e., i want to retrieve the inputText entered value in popu-window.
    second prob,
    my total code present inside <af:panelSplitter> (parent window code)
    <af:panelStretchLayout>
    </af:panelStretchLayout>
    </af:panelSplitter>
    in child window, i kept 1 close button, when i tried to close this, it is not closing.
    i think problem may be code present in panels, becoz same thing working without panel.
    thanks in advance
    regards,
    sandeep

    use
    <af:setPropertyListener> to set the inputText value in the pageflowscope/or bean variable .. and use it in the child window
