*SELECT: How to select value from cube into variable?

Hi,
I have an application that need lots of complex calculations.  Currently I am facing problem in retrieving a value from BPC application/database (BW cube) into a script logic local variable.  Let's say the application has  these  following dimensions
1.  FYPD ( fiscal yr period. 200901, 200902 etc)
2.  REGION ( A, B , C , D etc)
3.  PRODUCT(Product ID)
4.  VERSION ( ACTUAL, FORECAST etc)
5.  AMOUNT (Sales Amount, signed data )
Now I need to extract the sales amount into a local valriable where REGION = "A" and  PRODUCT = "SMK-1234" and FYPD = "200905"  and VERSION = "ACTUAL"
What's should be the equivalent SELECT command? I tried but could not figure out. Any help?
Regards
DipM

Hi DipM,
There isn't really a concept of local variables for values in script logic. Instead, you'll want to use *WHEN, *LOOKUP, or MDX statements.
For example, this will copy the value you mention into the PLAN version:
*WHEN REGION
*IS A
*WHEN PRODUCT
*IS SMK-1234
*WHEN FYPD
*IS 200905
*WHEN VERSION
*IS ACTUAL
*REC(FACTOR=1,VERSION=PLAN)
*ENDWHEN
*ENDWHEN
*ENDWHEN
*ENDWHEN
See *WHEN ([link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bpc70sp02/helpdata/en/36/339907938943ad95d8e6ba37b0d3cd/frameset.htm]) and *REC ([link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bpc70sp02/helpdata/en/25/8d51050c43496887ddff88f13e5f1a/frameset.htm]) documentation for more.
As mentioned, you can also use *LOOKUP or MDX statements to look up values and drive calculations in *REC(EXPRESSION=....) statements. This functionality is outlined in the SP02 documentation addendum ([link|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000088146&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&]).
In the MS Version of BPC, there is a concept of local MDX variables that work with the specialized *GO script logic statement. This statement is not available in the Netweaver version.

  • How to load values from database into the f:selectItems value attribute

    Hi,
    I am trying to load the drop down menu value i.e f:selectItems from the database with a list of values from a column in the databse table. how can i do this? Should i use binding? or is there any other way.
    Note:i am able to load values into f:selectItems from the faces-config.xml file but they are static values. i want the values from the database
    Please reply with sample codes of faces jsp, bean file and config.xml file

    But this is working for me,
    JSF
         <h:selectOneMenu value="#{loadbean.grade}" >
              <f:selectItems value="#{loadbean.gradelist}" />
         </h:selectOneMenu>
    bean
    private String grade;
    private List<SelectItem> gradelist;
    public String getGrade() {
              return grade;
         public void setGrade(String grade) {
              this.grade = grade;
         public List<SelectItem> getGradelist() {
              return gradelist;
         public void setGradelist(List<String> items) {
              gradelist=new ArrayList<SelectItem>();
              gradelist.add(new SelectItem("daniel"));//this value can be from data base
              gradelist.add(new SelectItem("pspindia"));
              gradelist.add(new SelectItem("prelude sys"));
    faces-config.xml
    <managed-property>
              <property-name>gradelist</property-name>
              <null-value/>
    </managed-property>
    this working fine for me. So setter method also works to load value for the h:selectItems
    Thanks a lot.

  • How to populate values from database into a Combo Box?

    Hi,
    How to display all the values of a field of a database table in a combo box inside a grid in B1 user defined form?
    Regards,
    Sudeshna.

    Hi,
    If you are trying to do this on a system form (I gues this is your case, reading the other question), for example Sales Orders, and you want to show the values from a User Defined Table (UDT), you just need to add a User Defined Field on Marketing Documents Line level, and say it is linked to the UDT.
    SBO will automatically show the combo with the values on the Code field of the UDT.
    Regards,
    Ibai Peña
    Sorry, I didn´t read the post well.
    What you could do is each time the form is loaded, read the values from the table, and asign them as Valid Values for the combobox column. You can do this programatically, or using XML (which is recommended becouse of better performance).

  • How to place values from Forms into email?

    Andreas sugested the following statement to navigate from forms to emal:
    HOST('cmd /c c:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe url.dll,FileProtocolHandler "mailto:[email protected]?cc=[email protected]&bcc=[email protected]&subject=mysubject&body=mybody"');
    It works just fine placing [email protected] to to:, [email protected] to cc, [email protected] to bcc, mysubject to subject ,and
    mybody to the text area.
    Question:
    How to rearrange the string if I need to place values from the fileds in the form:
    :control.to (can consist of [email protected];[email protected];......;[email protected]) value in the filed should go to to: in the email;

  • How to pass value from templates to variables

    I have a part of my stylesheet(xslt)like the below example:

    <xsl:call-template name="amountaggregate">
    <xsl:with-param name="sum">
    <xsl:value-of select="number(0)"/>
    <xsl:with-param>

    <xsl:value-of select="number(1)"/>
    </xsl:with-param>
    </xs:call-template>
    </xsl:variable>
    in my template "amountaggregate" i will be setting a maximum count and will be incrementing the cucount by 1 each till cucount=maxcount. For each increment i will be adding some values to the parameter sum. i need to assign the final value of sum to the variable amount so that i can access it by "$amount"
    Can anyone help me?

    Hi,
    Some of the tutorials for the ABAP WebDynPro

    for your question ,
    1. you should have two views and a Node in the Component controller
    2. In the first view you should bind the Component controller node attribute Employee ID.
    3. In the second view also u should bind the Employee id attribute and get the value from that and process the employee id.
    4. Display the employee Details in the Second view.
    all the business Logic please write in the component conntroller.
    the Data will pass like this
    FirstView Context --> Component controller Context --> Second view Context.
    here Component controller context is Global and can be visible to both the views.
    Reward if usefull.

  • Select values from table%ROWTYPE variable into a cursor

    I have a stored procedure which has an OUT parameter of table1%ROWTYPE.
    In future we might have to add more OUT parameters of table2%ROWTYPE etc. But at any point of time only one will have values.
    So instead of having table%ROWTYPE as OUT parameter, can I send these single row ( with variable values) in a cursor, so that declaration part atleast will not change.
    Is it possible to select values from table%ROWTYPE variable into a cursor.
    cursorOUT IS
    SELECT * FROM varREC;
    where varREC is table.ROWTYPE variable.
    Or which is the better solution in this situation.
    Thanks.

    SQL> var a refcursor
    SQL> declare
      2   bb emp%ROWTYPE;
      3  begin
      4   select * into bb from emp where rownum = 1;
      5   open :a for select bb.ename ename, bb.empno empno from dual;
      6  end;

    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

  • Problem with downloading data from cube into flatfile

    Hi,
    I am writing a program to download data from cube into flatfile .The program will be run in the background with user has given his selection in a table.the program works fine .The current problem which i am facing is the character length.e.g. Material is 18 ..but in my dynamic internal table it store the value of material with length of 10 character.
    So i am not able to see the output material in correct format.Anybody knows how to change this format.
    thanks in advance
    Yogesh Mali

    Hi Yogesh,
    Theorethically, you can setup the material code length in TX OMSL, which uses the TMCNV table.
    Why don't you change the structure of your internal table changing material fiela length from 10 to 18?
    Best regards,
    Eugene

  • How to derive value from another variable and use it to read master data?

    Hi,
    I have following case:
    First I need to read the value from Cost Center -variable (ZIPCC) and then I need to use that value to determine the home currency of that cost center from the cost center master data table (field: OBJ_CURR).
    I know to basic idea on how to do this, but don't seem to get the syntax correct. Could someone point me in the right direction?
    So the objects in play are:
    ZIPCC = Cost center selection variable (mandatory, single value)
    ZIPCUR = Cost Center Currency variable (customer exit, single value)
    0COSTCENTER
    0OBJ_CURR = Field in cost center master data
    Help will be greatly appreciated!
    -m

    Hi,
    Thank you very much for your example I can see that this logic works! However I'm experiencing trouble in selecting the 0OBJ_CURR
    This kind of declaration isn't working: "D1 Like /BIC/0OBJ_CURR."
    And the same goes for the Selection:
    "Select single OBJ_CURR into D1 from /BI0/PCOSTCENTER where COSTCENTER = i_t_var_range-low."
    This is where my syntax also went wrong.
    0OBJ_CURR is a unit, is there a special way to declare it and use it in the code?
    (and 0CURRENCY is a reference unit for 0OBJ_CURR).
    Do you have adivce on this?

  • Passing field value from appoinment into task

    Hi,
    I need to pass the field values from appointment into the task. I was able to pass values from one record type to another but in this case as both appointment and task belong to the same record type namely activity and they are having the same foreign key namely ActivityId.
    So any one please tell me , is it possible to pass values from appointment in to the task or not ?
    If so how?
    Thanks,
    Kirubahar.

    Write a workflow and select the field you want to copy the value into in the Field Name and the value you want to copy in value field, you don't need to use joinfieldValue at all.
    cheers

    i think normally u will get data from databsae as objects.they are like java beans having getter and setter methods.so you create a collection of those objects like collect all the objects coming from database into an arraylist or....
    suppose you want to populate the dropdown box with say "username" from database object s, your code will look like that
    <html:select property="name">
    <html:options collection="databaseList" property="username" />
    </html:select>
    "databaseList" is collection(say.. ArrayList) of objects you are getting from database.this dropdown will contain all the "usernames" you are getting from database.

    just call the following proc in your add & add all buttons. Reverse the code for REMOVEs
    this proc will move one item at a time from list_item1 to list_item2.
    PROCEDURE add_an_item
    IS
      v_list_count    NUMBER;
      v_item1_label  VARCHAR2(60);
    BEGIN
      IF :list_item1 IS NOT NULL THEN v_list_count := nvl(Get_List_Element_Count('list_item1'),0);
          IF v_list_count >= 1 THEN FOR i IN 1..v_list_count
          LOOP
             IF   :list_item1    = Get_List_Element_Value('list_item1', i)
             THEN
                  v_item1_label := Get_List_Element_label('list_item1', i);
                  Add_List_Element('list_item2',1,v_item_label,:list_item1);
               Delete_List_Element('list_item1',i);
               Exit;
             END IF;
          END LOOP;
           END IF;
       END IF;
    END;
    *********************************************************************************this proc will move all items from list_item1 to list_item2.
    PROCEDURE add_all_items
    IS
      v_list_count NUMBER;
      v_item_label VARCHAR2(60);
      v_item_value VARCHAR2(60);
    BEGIN
    v_list_count := nvl(Get_List_Element_Count('list_item1'),0);

    hi shanu,
    the pbm is solved, now i m able to access XXX no. in action class & i m able to validate it. The only thing which i want to know is it ok to declare static ArrayList as i have done in this code. i mean will it affect the performance or functionality of the system.
    pls have a look at the following code snippet.
    public class XMLValidator {
    static ArrayList strXXX = new ArrayList();
    public void validate(){
    factory.setValidating(true);
    parser = factory.newSAXParser();
    //all factory code is here only
    parser.parse(xmlURI, new XMLErrorHandler());
    public void setXXX(String pstrXXX){
    strUpn.add(pstrXXX);
    public ArrayList getXXX(){
    return strXXX;
    class XMLErrorHandler extends DefaultHandler {
    String tagName = "";
    String tagValue = "";
    String applicationRefNo = "";
    String XXXValue ="";
    String XXXNo = "";
    XMLValidator objXmlValidator = new XMLValidator();
    public void startElement(String uri, String name, String qName, Attributes atts) {
    tagName = qName;
    public void characters(char ch[], int start, int length) {
    if ("Reference".equals(tagName)) {
    tagValue = new String(ch, start, length).trim();
    if (tagValue.length() > 0) {
    RefNo = new String(ch, start, length);
    if ("XXX".equals(tagName)) {
    XXXValue = new String(ch, start, length).trim();
    if (XXXValue.length() > 0) {
    XXXNo = new String(ch, start, length);
    public void endElement(String uri, String localName, String qName) throws SAXException {
    if(qName.equalsIgnoreCase("XXX")) {
    objXmlValidator.setXXX(XXXNo);
    thnx & Regards,

    Hi Venkat,
    I guess you mean an infocube from the SAP BI product. I propose to look at the forum for Business Intelligence to find your answers.
    E.g. SAP POS DM writes the sales data in infocubes.....

  • How to load data from Quikbooks into PeopleSoft General Ledger module ?

    Folks,
    Hello.
    My client's data is currently stored in Quikbooks.
    After install PeopleSoft FSCM 9.0, I need to load the data from Quickbooks into PeopleSoft General Ledger module. But I don't know how to use PeopleSoft Integration Broker to integrate with Quikbooks.
    Can any folks tell me how to load data from Quikbooks into PeopleSoft General Ledger module ?

    Hi,
    If the data load is one time process, then you can use PL/SQL or datamover to load the data to PeopleSoft application.
    If you want to load the data in real time, then you need to create In-bound and out-bound nodes to perform the transaction.
    Thanks
    Soundappan
