How to populate default values for BP (FPP1 is tcode in ECC 6.0)
Hello ,
I am creating BP in ECC 6.0 using Fpp1 tcode. How to populate default values when i hit create BP person. any badi triggers when we are creating BP in ECC.
guide me.Hi Premanand,
To default fields, you need to do the following steps :
1. Create a Z module e.g. : Z_DEFAULT_FIELDS_DIALOG.
2. Enter suppose you want to default fiels Name, title, country, write code as follows :
DATA : ls_busdefault LIKE busdefault.
ls_busdefault-title = '0002'.
ls_busdefault-mc_name1 = 'TEST'.
ls_busdefault-mc_name2 = 'Default'.
ls_busdefault-country = 'IN'.
CALL FUNCTION 'BUP_BUPA_FIELDVALUES_SET'
EXPORTING
i_busdefault = ls_busdefalut.
3. Now got to transaction BUS7, select event ISDAT, click on Event--> function modules.
4. Register your Z module Z_DEFAULT_FIELDS_DIALOG in this list, Save.
This should solve your problem. Please note : You can only default those fields contained in structure BUSDEFAULT.
Cheers,

How to populate f4 values to standard pnp selection screen fields
Hi Experts,
my question is how to populate f4 values to standard pnp selection screen field. i am using LDB PNP for a report , it displays several fields with f4 values, i need to remove all the stadard f4 values and want to place my f4 values in the selection screenHi Venkat,
To put ur own values in the F4 help of any field...all u have to do is.
1st fetch all the records that u need to display in F4 help list...in one internal table.
and then use the function module 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST'
call function 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST'
exporting
retfield =
value_org =
tables
value_tab =
return_tab =
exceptions
parameter_error = 1
no_values_found = 2
others = 3.
where retfield is the field for which u need to give the F4 help.
and valu_tab is the internal table in which u have the list of records to be displayed.
this would do the work...
I dont have the system in front of me...as soon as i have...will try to send a piece of code, to make ur work easy.
Till then hope this helps u...all the best

HI
IM PROGRAMMING ONE FORM AND I PUT THERE TABULER TEXT ITEM
I WANT ASSIGN 63 VALUES TO THIS TEXT ITEM ONE BY ONE BY CODE I MEAN PUT FIRST VALUE IN THE FIRST TEXT ITEM ROW THEN SECOND TO THE SECOND TEXT ITEM AND LIKE THIS UNTIL I REACH TO THE LAST
I MAKE LOV PUT I CAN ASSIGN ONE VALUE BY ONE VALUE EACH TIME DOUBLE CLICK ON THE TEXT ITEM ASSIGN ONE VALUE THEN DOUBLE CLICK ON THE SECOND ROW PUT MY BOSS WANT ASSIGN ALL VALUES 63 FROM ONE CLICK ON BUTTONThen you will have to create a when-validate-item trigger with a cursor based on your selection of your LOV . Loop through that cursor assigning the next in the next record by using the built-in function next_record. (put you selection for you value in a hidden item for example.
something like this:
Declare
cursor c is
select returnValueFromLOV
from <yourtable>
where yourdisplay value = :hidden_tem;
begin
for r in c loop
next_record;
item := r. returnValueFromLOV;
end loop;
exception
when no_data_found
your error handling;
end;
Hope it put you on the road to reach what you want

How do you write UNDO for a text item?? examples? or a REDO??
How do you write UNDO for a text item?? examples? or a REDO??
I created a pop-up menu with CUT, COPY, PASTE, UNDO, CLEAR for my text items.
Using MAGIC menu type works great but there is no MAGIC for UNDO or REDO.....
How do you write UNDO for a text item?? examples? or a REDO??
I have Oracle Forms 6i...
Lets say I highlight all the text in the text item, and start typing over it... then I realize OH NO it is the wrong text field...
Now I want to UNDO the typing and get back to the previous text.
I'd use the initial value that was populate right? How do I access that if that is correct?
Thanks, BillYou can use;
<ITEM> := Get_Item_Property(<ITEM>,DATABASE_VALUE);
Or you will have to write a pre-text-item trigger;
PRE-TEXT-ITEM:
:CTRL.CURRENT_VAL := :<BLOCK>.<ITEM>
MENU (PL/SQL):
:<BLOCK>.<ITEM> := :CTRL.CURRENT_VAL;
You may also want to set the item property back to ITEM_IS_VALID so that item validation does not fire again. -
Spaces removed when inserting a value into a text item
Dear members,
(Forms 6i c/s)
I have a databased function returning a string of characters (varchar2). This value can have spaces at its end.
When I put this value into a text item in Forms, the spaces at the end are removed.
How can I avoid that ?
Thanks for your help.Hi,
There is no elegant solution for this. Metalink has a discussion of the topic in note nr 247715.1

How to get the value of a clicked item in a shuttle control
I have a shuttle control (P8_SHUTTLE) that lists then names from scott.emp.
Now I want to create a dynamic action that fires when I click on one of the names on the left side of the shuttle control.
I want the dynamic action to recognize the name of the employee that was clicked, and then set the value of a text item (P8_LAST_VALUE) to that ename. (Eventually I want to display the department of that employee in the other text item).
Here are screen shots of my DA:
http://www.screencast.com/t/42klMC0Hbk
http://www.screencast.com/t/Y5lZ4RsaLUI
Currently, when I click an item in the shuttle control, the text item P8_LAST_VALUE remains blank.
Thanks,
ChristophHi Christoph,
you have to change your jQuery selector in the When section of the Dynamic action to #P8_SHUTTLE_LEFT.
The shuttle item P8_SHUTTLE is build from to select lists P8_SHUTTLE_LEFT and P8_SHUTTLE_RIGHT.

This program is working fine. You can test it.
Only problem is as the column headings are big for some columns, they are getting truncated which you can always change by changing the column width in declaration
Please let me know if this helps.

How to populate column value from a sequence in adv table
Hi Everyone,
This is my requirement. When a user clicks on add another row button of advance table a new row should appear with ID column populated as a sequence value. For eg: When the page renders for the first time, no records are shown in the advance table. when user clicks on add another row button a new row should be added with the ID column poplulated as 1. When the user clicks on add another row button for the 2nd time, the ID coulmn value should be 2 and so on.
After user clicks on submit button data will be inserted to the data base table.
Please tell me how to populate the column values with a sequence 1,2,3 ..so on on click of add another row button.
Thanks in Advance
Sunny!Hi Gyan,
Below is the code I'm using in PFR.
OAAdvancedTableBean tableBean = (OAAdvancedTableBean)webBean;
OADBTransaction Tr=amobj.getOADBTransaction();
if ( (tableBean.getName().equals(pageContext.getParameter(SOURCE_PARAM)))
&& ADD_ROWS_EVENT.equals(pageContext.getParameter(EVENT_PARAM)))
System.out.println("in if clause");
Number lineNumber = Tr.getSequenceValue("paymentLineSequence");
testLineEOViewImpl vobj = amobj.gettestLineEOView1();
vobj.getCurrentRow().setAttribute("SundryRequestLineNumber",lineNumber);
When i click on Add Another Row button its throwing an exception as below.

How to populate new values in JTable?
hello swing experts!!!
i have a problem plz i need your help. tnx.

i have a program that retrieves information from the database and display it in the JTable. i have JTextBox to search users by "Name" and when i click JButton "search" it will populate all the users that has the "Name" in the JTable.
i already know how to populate a JTable at first like giving a JTable(row,column) or a model = new DefaultTableModel(row,col). but
i dont know how to *"Re-populate"* values in the JTable? an algorithm/steps/code snippets on how it will work will be a great help. tnx!Just a small example :
import java.awt.BorderLayout;
import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
import java.awt.event.ActionListener;
import java.util.Vector;
import javax.swing.JButton;
import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JTable;
import javax.swing.table.DefaultTableModel;
public class Testing
public static void main(String... args)
final DefaultTableModel model = new DefaultTableModel()
@Override
public boolean isCellEditable(int row, int column)
return false;
model.addColumn("One");
model.addColumn("Two");
final JTable table = new JTable(model);
JButton button = new JButton("Click to add data to the table");
//get your data in a vector from the list you are getting from the database
final Vector<String> newRow = new Vector<String>();
newRow.add("Value1");
newRow.add("Value2");
button.addActionListener(new ActionListener()
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae)
model.addRow(newRow);
JFrame frame = new JFrame("Testing");
frame.getContentPane().add(button, BorderLayout.NORTH);
frame.getContentPane().add(table, BorderLayout.CENTER);
frame.setSize(400, 200);
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
frame.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
frame.setVisible(true);

How to write list values to a text file?
Hi. Does anyone know how to write values stored in a List to a text file? I have a program that asks the user to enter a name and stores it in a list. The number of names in the list depends on how many times the user wants to enter a name. The problem is that my writeToFile method, which handles writing values to a text file, only writes one name and overwrites any previous names. How could I fix this so that it goes thru the list and writes every value to the file? Any hints would be appreciated!
peace
Chris
import java.util.*;
import java.io.*;
public class StoreNames
String name;
char answer;
BufferedReader input = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
public void anotherName(List a)throws IOException
System.out.println("Enter another name? (Y or N)");
answer = (char)System.in.read();
System.in.skip(2);
while(answer == 'Y' || answer == 'y')
inputName(a);
System.out.println("Enter another name? (Y or N)");
answer = (char)System.in.read();
System.in.skip(2);
if (answer == 'N' || answer == 'n')
System.out.println("Ok. GoodBye");
writeToFile(a);
//prompts user to input names
public void inputName(List a) throws IOException
System.out.print("Enter a name: ");
name = input.readLine();
a.add(name);
public void writeToFile(List a)throws IOException
PrintWriter output = new PrintWriter(new FileWriter("names.txt"));
output.print(name); //Problem area - handles only one line of input, overwrites previous input
output.close();System.out is an instance of PrintStream (check the API documents for the System class to see this).
So the easiest way to convert from a "print to screen" class to a "print to file" class is to acquire a PrintStream that prints to a file, and use it exactly the same as you'd have used System.out...
So start with your console code...
PrintStream out = System.out;
for(int i = 0; i <10; i++){
out.println("Number " +i);
}Then you adapt to file code:
FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream("temp.txt");
PrintStream out = new PrintStream(fos);
for(int i = 0; i <10; i++){
out.println("Number " +i);
out.flush();
out.close();Note that we flush the stream because for reasons of efficiency files aren't necessarily written to disk until you explicitly ask the system to do so (memory is fast, disks are slow, that's why).
Closing the stream releases system resources associated with it.
Actually, that's redundant, because close calls flush automatically, but I left it in for clarity.

How to check old and new value for a text item attached to a lov?
Hi,
I am new to Forms.
I need your help in following.
I have a form which has a text item which is attached to a LOV. I want to track what changes are being done using that form. So i want to know what was old value and what is new value.
I can get the new value as it is there in form field. how can i know what was the old value.
Thanks
Prashant PathakThis is wrong:
name_in(':' ||l_audit_block.field_name)
this is right and will get you the current value of the the item:
name_in('l_audit_block.field_name');
Assuming the name of you block is "l_audit_block" and the name of your item is "field_name".
Please note name_in() returns your current value for an item. In your case this may or may not be the "old" value. I define "old" value as the value it was when it was queried. If that is what you are looking for you need to use the get_item_property() call that Steve described above.

How to populate an array with random text files.
I am making a Jeopardy program. I have my program set up so that it retrieves 5 random text files. I just want to know how I populate one array with all the lines from the text files my program is retrieving.
You can read a textfile line by line and add each line to an ArrayList. An ArrayList is very much like an array only that it's "open ended". You can start adding lines without first knowing how many you're going to get. If you still want an ordinary "static" array when you're finished reading lines you can easily get one from the ArrayList and then drop the ArrayList.
