How to prepare env to install product with pkgadd -R option

Hi,
Do you know what steps need to be done to install Storage Foundation with rootpath option?
With rootpath option packages are installed with -R option.
I thought that I can install product on non-default location. But I was wrong.
Installer help description:
The -rootpath option is used to re-root the install of all packages to the given path. On Solaris, -rootpath passes -R <root_path> to pkgadd. On HPUX, it passes -I <root_path> to swinstall. The -rootpath option is not supported on AIX or Linux
Please tell me how to prepare Solaris environment to install SF to re-root the install?
Kind regards,
Daniel

  • How many laptops can I install on with only one lightroom 6 license? (not cc version)

I read from somewhere that one creative cloud  account can be used on two different devices, but what about the lightroom 6 version?
If I pay $149 for lightroom 6, how many laptops can I install on? I now have one windows laptop and one mac.
    Thanks for helping.

I selected yours as the correct answer because of the webpage you provided, but I cannot understand that what "only use it on one computer at a time".
If the software is for offline use, how does it know if I'm running it on another computer?

  • How to prepare for A3 install? Frozen with trepidation from reading here

I'm mad I bought my A3 so quickly. I have early adopter regret. I tend to jump in early but now that I've been using Aperture for years the stakes are high.
I have been sitting here staring at A3 and drooling about using it for a couple of weeks. The more I read in these posts the more confused I get. I don't understand migrating by project, yet I think that's the only way I'm going to keep my sanity.
First, a description of my set up. I have an early Mac Pro with only 2 GB of RAM. I have all my photos reside on my second 1 TB internal HD (does that make them referenced?) and about 300 GB of free space on my primary drive. My library is about 70,000 photos taking up 286 GB.
I didn't understand the concepts of vaults when I started using A1. I now want everything in one vault but I started out making a few vaults. My first vaults now are ghosted and say they are disconnected even though the external HDs are hooked up. My new 'master' vault only says my library is 225 GB, so I don't know how to account for that discrepancy. What photos are missing? Therefore I have concerns that I'm not completely backed up.
I would LOVE to have a 4-5 external HD RAID system (another concept I don't understand) but I've looked at the prices and I'm not able to spend that kind of money. It sounds wonderful and someday. . .
I don't want a regurgitation of what's already been posted, but given my brief description does anyone have advice to help me build my confidence and accomplish this upgrade.
PS - I am looking forward to using Faces and Places (to a lesser degree) so all the advice about turning off Faces makes me sad. Is there a way to have Faces work project by project instead of running through the whole library? I photograph people a lot so it will take a long time for it to process every photo.

    Hi,
In my case I installed AP3 and honestly no crashes or major issues other than some slowness in AP3 but I see it's been solved with the updates and my workflow maybe helping too.
I run a managed AP3 library on a fast external drive connected via eSATA card to my MBP.
In your case I would say add more RAM (never hurts) although 2GB should be ok for now.
Leave your AP3 Library on the main drive and reference your files that exist on the second internal drive.
When importing, you have a choice as to leave in current location(so referenced)
    or have AP manage library.
As far as the size of your library at 286GB, it my be a good idea to install another internal drive in the Mac Pro.
    So
drive 1) Boot drive with OS and all your apps.
    drive 2) AP3 Library
drive 3) Original RAW files that your AP3 library can reference-as long as you tell AP to reference the files upon import.
eventually maybe a 2 TB external drive (usually made of 2x1TB drives in one enclosure)
and this external can be used to back up your AP3 library on one drive and your original RAW files on the second drive.

I hope this helps but lets see what others may advise.

  • How to prepare for FRESH INSTALL?

    hi all.
i am about 2 years into my move back to mac with a small professional office and i am considering a fresh install of Lion from Snow Leopard on the Mac Pro (1st generation) and a 2009/10 MacBookPro. I believe the Mac Pro shipped with Leopard and the MacBookPro shipped with Snow Leopard but not sure if i am off by an OS release on that.
in any event, it has been a /ton/ of effort in customizing this setup and it includes an install of Mac Drive, Parallels and other software and software settings. I have also edited the registry on windows in a couple of instances and i have run a couple of Terminal customizations on the mac side.
    two questions.
    1. what should i do to prepare for a fresh install and how much time might be involved in redoing my setup?
    2. is it worth all the effort? i mean, i /do/ have a 2 TB hard drive to take the place of my existing 1 TB drive and I could use the extra space. but at the same time i wonder if a fresh install is necessary.
    TIA

If I understand correctly, you are still running SL. As I said, I'm not familiar with this when using any Windows install. If it were strictly Apple, then it wouldn't be a problem. But still if you want to do a full clean install, that would require reinstalling all applications manually. Otherwise, you would still be migrating the same files your already have.
Installing Lion over SL will give you a new OS. Unless you have hard drive issues, this should be all that's needed.
What I would do is check for any PPC applications. If you have any, then uninstall them. Check each application for complete removal instructions.
You might also use an application such as ONYX to caches, etc. Repair permissions. Just to get the system as clean as possible.
Once done, you would want to make a current backup. Maybe even a second just in case. You can always do a restore if nessary.
You could clone your system to an external drive using either SuperDuper or CarbonCopy Cloner. The advantage is that it's bootable. You could then install Lion on either the internal or external drive and make sure it works OK.

  • How to prepare my mini for sale with it's software intact?

My Mac Mini is all setup with the latest updates to all is it's media-based software.  I have installed Plex, Hulu and Boxee and they are working great.  Now I don't need it anymore due to our ipad2 being a great pal to the HD TV.  How can I confidently sell the min hardware and still keep it configured the way it is and not risk any account data?  I have removed my profiles from all software, erased my keychains, removed all browser personality, history, cache and believe they are free of my credentials.  Any other ideas for insuring the mini leaves my house without the keys to my kingdom?  It is running the latest version of Snow Leopard (10.6.8 I believe).

Still looking for a better answer but not hopeful.  I did like the comment about cleaning off the fingerprints.
I spent a fair amount of my time (valueless) in getting this particular Mac Mini setup to run on my big screen TV as a home theater computer.  I scanned the software offerings for both Mac and PC and ended up with the Mac versions of three media congregators - hulu, plex and boxee.  I believe they are still among the best the internet Mac based software community has to offer for free.  I also setup itunes for home sharing and found this quite wonderful, especially using Apple's Front Row and the mini-remote by Apple.  For boxee, I sometimes used the iphone remote.  We have now given up on this adventure and find that less media is better for our health and welfare.  Thus the need to sell the mini.  [Sorry for the long story]
I think I will follow the well-intended advice of the above users and wipe the disk, install the OS from a DVD, reload the vital software and apply patches and move this puppy to the next happy owner, along with the fancy HDMI connector.  Thanks all.

  • How can I manipulate VMIC's products with Labveiw?

There were problems when I Import DLL included in the driver of VMIC's product--- VMIPCI5565. With the settings of parameters, the function, such as Open_device: rfm2gOpen("\\\\.\\rfm2g1", &rh) couldn't work and returned a status number of 9 which indicates " invalid board ID" according the user manual of the driver.
I am slways hestatious that maybe I have set a wrong type of the parameter "rh" as a numberic, however, it didn't get any better with a setting of "Adapt to type". When cosulting the experts of NI , I got the answers that the VMIC's products may not work normally at all in NI's software environment!
      It seems really confusing.
So it will be very kind if any one can help me.  Thanks a lot!

    Thank you bob!
And I want to ask another question, it's turned  up when I recognize the VMIPCI 5565 card.  I , according the instructor of "Configuring NI-VISA to recognize a third party hardware" of NI homepage, configured my NI-VISA , just want to realize the basic communication between RFM and Labview. It was as follows:
    1. I opened the "VISA Driver Development Environment Wizard" from "start up" as said in homepage to generate a new .inf file.
    2. after inputing nessary information( such as model ID, Subsystem Manufaturer ID) that gained from VMIPCI5565's manual, I left the checkbox "Generate Interrupt " unchecked in the sake of the primary experiment.
    3. after all the work. I rebooted my computer and open the MAX. It welcomed me with following :
        the VMIPCI 5565 seemed to be detected as :" PXI2::12::INSTR" because it showed that;
        In "general information" tab it also showed the message:" PXI2::12::INSTR";
        And in "setting" message, it told me : PCI bus number :2  (but it seems that I install it in the 3rd plot);
device number 12  and function number 0!!
however, in "resource" tab. I noticed that the Base Address Regioster3(BAR3) memory range was detected as "0XD0000000~0XD7FFFFFF". It was consuring because the card indeed holds a 128M SDRAM.
But, all hope crashed when I try the Test Panel. No read ,neither write function could work unless some basic information(I jsut set) querying in tab"Register I/O". And what's worse, the examples included in the driver I downloaded from that link you gave me can not work either, not any valid results.
Oh, it is so so so so depressing! Could you ,anyone ,help me? God!

  • [SOLVED]How to install packages with the -U option? PGP error.

I have to downgrade some packages (linux package due to ath5k problem), but pacman won't allow me because of the signatures.
I downloaded the packages i need from here http://schlunix.org/archlinux/.
These packages are safe to install? How can i bypass the signature check, if these packages are safe to install?
    Thanks.

If you have a pgp key, you can sign the packages with your own key. You can do this by editing /etc/makepkg.conf, adding your key to the  GPGKEY="" section and enabling the sign option in the BUILDENV section. When building the package, it'll then be signed with your personal key. Afterwards import your key in pacman (pacman-key -r <yourkey>), assign the proper trust level and you're good to go.
A workaround is to temporarily set "SigLevel = Never" in your /etc/pacman.conf (and hence disabling keysigning).
EDIT: I just bothered to actually check your link and you'll be installing prebuilt binaries, so my first explanation doesn't apply there (you won't be building anything). So just setting SigLevel to Optional or Never (temporarily) should do.

  • How many machines can I install on with one Mountain Lion download?

I want to upgrade to Mountain Lion, but I have both an iMac and a MacBook Pro.  Do I have to buy two Mountain Lion downloads - one for each, or can I somehow download twice after paying once?
    Judy

Actually, having made the same claim a couple of days ago and being proven completely wrong, I have a certain responsibility to correct you by mentioning that there is no limit to how many machines ML can be installed on, as long as you own or control those machines.

  • How is I/O assistant installed correctly with a Labview 7.1 installation from scratch?

I had Labview 6.0 installed. I bought the upgrade to 7.1. From running into some problems NI tech support recommended removing 6.0 and installing 7.1 from scratch which I did and now all but one thing is ok. When I initialize the instrument I/O assistant I get a message stating that the assistant is not installed correctly and should be installed prior to 7.0. Then it says to reinstall the assistant from the device drivers cd which I have done as well as from the installation cd. I am still getting the error when starting the assistant. Anybody have any clues???

There is a bug in the Instrument I/O Assistant installer that is on the LabVIEW 7.1 Driver CD, where the I/O Assistant installer will not update the LabVIEW 7.1 support files necessary for it to work with LabVIEW 7.1.
Normally, if you installed the I/O Assistant off of the Driver CD first, and then LabVIEW 7.1, you could re-install the I/O Assistant off of the Driver CD to get your 7.1 support.
Because of the installer bug, you need to uninstall the I/O Assistant, and then install it again. You can uninstall the I/O Assistant by running the Driver CD and deselecting the option from the tree, or by going to add remove programs and removing it from there.
Sorry for the inconvenience. If you still have problems getting it to work, let me know and
I should be able to help you out. This bug is fixed in more recent editions of the NI Device Driver CD.

    Hi Jean
With "Print preview of entire hierarchy", what I see in my system is exactly what you want
    What i did is this
    1. Execute CK11N for p1
    2. Do not click on Costing Str on or off
    3. SImply click on the printer icon as i said and "Print preview of entire hierarchy"
    What I see is
    P1
    Under P1, I see
    AS1
        - C2
        - C3
    C1

  • How many times can you install Reflow with one account?

I installed Reflow at my job's computer because its free on Preview mode, but then I stupidly realized that Adobe might not permit multiple installs of the same program from the same account in another computer? I want to install Reflow at home as well using the same account. Will Adobe block me from doing this?

There should be no problem installing Reflow on both computers using the same Adobe Creative Cloud account.

You can probably cobble together a perl script
    using [Win32::Registry::File|http://search.cpan.org/~avatar/Win32-Registry-File-1.10/File.pm]
    and the information here.
You would have to make perl available on a shared drive.

  • How can I fill a message box with an empty option whit UIX?

    Hi dear forum:
I created a message box in UIX and I filled it with data from a table, but I need that the first option be in blank; I need an empty option.
    thanks dear forum

If you are using a ADF/BC4J view object to get the data, you can modify the sql query statement to add a null option UNION'ed with the original query. Example:
    SELECT NULL DEPARTMENT_ID,
    NULL DEPARTMENT_NAME,
    NULL MANAGER_ID,
    NULL LOCATION_ID
    FROM DUAL
    UNION ALL
    SELECT Departments.DEPARTMENT_ID,
    Departments.DEPARTMENT_NAME,
    Departments.MANAGER_ID,
    Departments.LOCATION_ID
    FROM DEPARTMENTS Departments
I also saw this tip somewhere but I don't know how (or if) it would work with uix:
