How to print sequence number for a text item in a oracle reports

Hi
I have text item which repets for every round,if i have 3 or 4 rounds i should number the text item as 1,2,3,4 etc.... in a report.
Can anybody help me

i am able to print ( two sets ) ...
up to last page ( one template ) and for last page ( another template).
i want to change the footer information based on the group value printed in the report ( it might be 5 to 6) In every report run.. can you please check and let me know do we have any feasibility to achieve this.

You can remove all other logic, like last page only contents (start@last-page:body), etc and section breaks if any you have inserted manually.
Just have for-each@section logic.
It would be difficult for me to guess what you have done without looking at your RTF or describing here.

Using MAGIC menu type works great but there is no MAGIC for UNDO or REDO.....

Lets say I highlight all the text in the text item, and start typing over it... then I realize OH NO it is the wrong text field...
Now I want to UNDO the typing and get back to the previous text.
I'd use the initial value that was populate right? How do I access that if that is correct?

You can use;
<ITEM> := Get_Item_Property(<ITEM>,DATABASE_VALUE);
Or you will have to write a pre-text-item trigger;
PRE-TEXT-ITEM:
:CTRL.CURRENT_VAL := :<BLOCK>.<ITEM>
MENU (PL/SQL):
:<BLOCK>.<ITEM> := :CTRL.CURRENT_VAL;
You may also want to set the item property back to ITEM_IS_VALID so that item validation does not fire again.

I am using oracle forms 11g with weblogic server 10.3.5 at windows7.I have a text item in my oracle form and I have to disable to being copy from a text item in oracle forms.Actually I have to make two text item.First text item to type a password and another text item is also to type password.Here I want that the data from first text item should not be copy through the use of mouse or keyboard shortcut key.

Thank You To reply, Actually doing so as you said,My problem would not be solved.This would hide data in text item than I will not be able to copy that but in my case the data should not be concealed.Actually I have to make a Form to User registration and here is a strictly boundation to have a right email address of user.There would two text items for this purpose as: N_User_Email------> to type email address in text item.Here user would not be able to copy text written from N_User_Email R_User_Email ------> to type email address again as in N_User_Email.

I am using SOA 11.1.1.6
From a webservice call to db insert XSLT, i have 10 elements at source side and 11 elements at target side.
From source to target first 10 mappings are done.
Now requirement is, for the 11th element in target- we need pass a sequence number to the targeted database, means---(sequence number has to be generated for every execution of XSLT execution)
How to do the last point???

You can pass the sequence number in the 11th element using "oraext:sequence-next-val("Sequence name as a string", "Datasource as a string") function.

How to save session state for a text item

hi @averyone,
i designed in interactive report with one apex_item.text field, let's name it "count"
normally the report has more then one pages.
the report should work like a kind of a shopcart.
the user enters some data into "count" and moves on to the next page(s) enters some more date and so on.
at the end he/she will press an button to save the data into his shopcart.
now the problem:
whenever the page is changed, all data in "count" is lost because the column has no sesseion state.
any suggestions how to solve this issue without saviing the date in the database everytime the page ist changed?

i solved the issue using an existing table, which should act quite similar to collections:
at user request i store all entries in this table & a the end a list of selected rows is presented to the end-user.

How to execute a same sequence number for the resulting dynamic rows

Hi friends,
I have a sequence and trigger(which will fire id for each and every row insert).
My scenario is, If i update more than 5 rows at a time means, i need to set a same sequence number example(1) for all the 5 rows.
Next time, if i update another 5 rows means, then i need to set a same sequence number (i.e) 2 for the next 5 rows.
So, my updation will be dynamic(may be 2 ,5, 10 rows at a time), But i need to set a same sequence number for one of the column for all the rows that i update.
Next time, if i update another set of rows means, then i need to set only the next sequence number(i.e) 2(assume that previously updated sequence for the before set of rows is 1) for another set of rows.
Like that sequence has to update in a sequential manner for more than one set of rows in that column.
How to achieve it friends.

You forgot to mention your version.
If you want a trigger based solution, then in 10g you need two triggers
1. A statement level trigger that takes sequence.nextval into a dummy variable that will not be used.
2. A for each row trigger that uses sequence.currval.
In 11g you should be able to write a single, composite trigger.
If you want a solution with no triggers, it could look something like
SQL> create sequence s start with 10;
Sequence created.
SQL>
SQL> create or replace function s_wrapped
2 return number
3 as
4     v number;
5 begin
6     select s.nextval
7     into v
8     from dual;
9
10     return v;
11 end s_wrapped;

Ah, I see -- thanks. Turns out that there's no difference in speed between texts.itemByRange(), characters.itemByRange(),and insertionPoints.itemByRange(). In a document with 170 pages of text, and with the cursor in the last paragraph, the second and third lines, below (and your function), give exactly the same result:
t = app.selection[0];
t.parentStory.texts.itemByRange (t.parentStory.insertionPoints[0], t).paragraphs.length;
t.parentStory.characters.itemByRange (t.parentStory.characters[0], t).paragraphs.length;

   u can go for box command.
Use the box command with zero width for vertical lines.
Position the line by x position and y postion.
syntax :
BOX <xpos> <ypos>
       <width>
      <height>
      <thickness in twips> twips.
