How to propagate a BPEL fault into ESB

I have a problem with getting errors that occur in my BPEL process propagate up to the calling ESB service.
I have an ESB service that via a routing rule invokes a BPEL process.
I'm using direct Java-call (i think) between ESB and BPEL by simply choosing the BPEL process via the browser in the Routing Rule (BPELSystem/default/myBPELProcess/etc...). BPEL and ESB resides in the same container.
The BPEL process basically just inserts some data in the database using the DB adapter. If something goes wrong this this insert (unique key violation, etc) I would like the error to be propagated up to the ESB.
I have tried using both synchronous and asynchronous execution in my Routing Rule, and I have tried setting the Endpoint Property 'InvocationMode' to 'local'. I have also tried to set the property 'transaction' to 'participate' in the bpel.xml of my BPEL process. Nothing makes the fault in the BPEL process propagate up to my ESB service.
What do I have to do in order to achieve this? I would like this error to propagate up the the ESB so that I can retry BPEL process when the error is fixed.

which version of SOA Suite are you using?
Have a look to latest patchset (10.1.3.3 and patch 6723162 on metalink) - I guess there were some fixes for fault propragation.

Presently, when a custom fault is sent from BPEL, it is setting fault code as name of the fault (with namespace: ex: ns0:ProcessFault). Instead of that I want to set a specific fault code (like 100) and appropriate fault actor and fault string. Or is it possible using java code in BPEL SOAP fault can be created and set appropriate values?

How to change a Async BPEL process into Sync bpel process

Hi All,
Can we change a bpel process which has been created by choosing the template as Asynchronous BPEL Process and after my requirement has
been changed i want to change my bpel process into synchronous bpel process. Is it possible to change the process or else we have to delete the whole process and once again we have to create a bpel process with synchronous template.
IF it possible to change the process from Async to sync how. is there any demo link on this. If possibel can anyone share a link on this.

Diff between ASYNC & SYNC
Composite.xml
SYNC: In service part in only interface.wsdl & binding.ws will be there
ASYNC: in service part interface.wsdl & binding.ws and one more callback binding.ws is there.
In .BPEL FILE
SYNC: In Partner Link name, partnerLinkType, MyRole will be there .
ASYNC: In partner Link name ,partnerLinkType,MyRole,Partner Role also will be there.
*.WSDL File*
SYNC: in portType Input & Output both are there , in partnerLinkType only one role is there i.e Requester Role no provider.
ASYNC: in portType only Input will there,in PartnerLinkType two roles will be there ProviderRole n Requester Role.
Also change the activity in the BPEL from Reply to Invoke in the end.
Respective to your requirements you can change your BPEL to Sync/ASync.

As I stated in my previous post, there is an issue with the BPEL process not responding back to ESB in a timely manner.
Unfortunately I don't have your process infront of me so it will require some thinking on your behalf to undersatnd how and why this may be happening.
Things to ask yourself.
- Is the data getting past correctly from the ESB to BPEL
- What happend to the BPEL process that the ESB called
- Is the ESB calling the BPEL process you are expecting, check server, and bpel versions
- What does the opmn or domain logs say

Test Conditions in BPEL Fault Policy

Per the ORacle 10.1.3.3 SOA Suite techical document, under the Fault Policy Framework section you can use an XPath expression in the <test> section of a fault policy. The example provided is +<test>$fault.code/code="WSDLReadingError"</test>+
Instead of using an equals sign, I am trying to figure out the syntax to use a "contains" or "starts-with" expression. I want to filter out a particular remoteFault using the "summary".
I have tried:

I did try to add namespace but it still didn't catch the fault.
I contacted Oracle support and they indicated that the syntax is: $fault.part/<xpath expression>
So for my purposes I needed to put: <test>$fault.summary/contains(summary, "xyz")</test>
HOWEVER this did not work. We recontacted Oracle and this time they admitted there is a bug that they will document. Only = or != can be used at this time.

How to invoke external bpel in BAM

Hi
I wanted to know how to call a bpel process residing in other machine onto local machine having BAM server? Solution required urgently.
I'm using soa 10.1.3 and bam 10.1.3.

This is easy and straight forward. You have to 1st point your JDev env from BPEL dev env to BAM machine, and then design BPEL BAMsensors to publish the events into BAM. Details are given in http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/bam/10.1.3/htdocs/1013_support.html
technotes sections. The document and steps assume localhost as default- in your case: replace localhost with your BAM machine name.

Publish Apps Data into ESB using Adapter

Hi,
I am currently investigating how to connect 11.5.10 Apps (Oracle Apps) to Enterprise Service Bus(ESB).
I want to use the Adapter Service of Event Notification (Async communication) in a scenario , for example:
I want to create an event notification for changes in an Employee's Assignment (Using Apps) and publish the suitable details into the ESB, from where a suitable Application will process the published data.
From my knowledge of Oracle AS Packaged Application Adapters , I find that the suitable adapters are based on J2CA 1.5 but are deployed as J2CA 1.0 which does not support Asynchronous Communication (Event Notification).
And as of now , I know that it's only through Adapters one can connect an ESB to an application.Is there any other way to do the same which can help in getting the job done?
Plz post inputs to help me in achieving this task of interconnecting Apps and ESB for Event Notification service.

You can use Oracle E-Business Suite(Oracle Applications) Adapter shipped with 10.1.3.1 to publish any Integration Interaface including Business Events into ESB.

Response Time BPEL Fault

Hi everybody,
i have the following Problem:
create a simple composite with one Mediator wiring to one simple BPEL Process.
The BPEL throws his own Business Fault define within the WSDL.
The Mediator propagate this Fault to the inital caller.
Everthing works fine but...
The Response Time for the normal request and response of the BPEL is 300 - 400ms.
If the BPEL throws the Fault, the response Time is over 6 Seconds!!
Has anyone an idea why the Response Time from the BPEL Fault is so much higher?

Hi Neeraj,
the Problem is identified. The long Response Time comes from our internal Company Network.
The Response Times if calling the Service from hosted Environment is OK.

I was trying to move several albums onto a USB drive and it stated all other files exist at this location. They are pictures taken at different times and have the same number I guess.

In iPhoto albums may contain photos with the same file name - iPhoto handles that just fine
If you are exporting them to move somewhere else use the sequential file name feature of export to give each file a unique name

How do I make web shortcuts into start screen tiles that can be pushed to all users profile on a computer in Windows 8.1 enterprise?

We are trying to roll out Windows 8.1 Enterpise in our school system (K-12).
The focus of this question is how do we take an internet web based shortcut and make it into a screen tile (on the start screen) which will appear for any user's start screen that logs on to the computer?
The details:
We came upon a great paper that's entitled "Customize Windows 8.1 Start Screens by Using Group Policy".
By applying this paper we were able to accomplish our first goal: Lock down the start screen so no user could change it. We accomplished this by using the Start Screen Layout policy setting laid out in the paper.
Our second goal: to customize the start screen is only half way met. We can set up the start screen the way we want and then export the .xml file. We are able to "reimport" the .xml file when the new user logs in. The installed programs
will appear on the Start Screen but not the internet based web shortcuts that were on the inital setup start screen.
(FYI - tried creating these tiles by running the start screen internet explorer app to the intended address and pinning them to the start screen. At this time trying to figure if there is a place to put desktop internet short cuts into a directory to make
them appear on the Start Screen).
We can see that the directory: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs is a place for program files to appear on the start screen. Is there a location web based shortcuts can be placed to cause them to automatically appear on the start
screen for every user as well? If not how do we accomplish getting these into tiles for every user logging in?
Sorry for the lengthy explanation. Hopefully it gets our question answered and helps others out there in the same boat!

Results: Did not work. The web based shortcuts did not appear.
Below is the steps taken with your tips incorporated. (Again it's lengthy sorry about that, but anyone can recreate what was done here. Maybe someone can see something left out by doing/reviewing it).
Here is what was done:
1. Installed a fresh install of Windows 8.1 enterprise on a pc. No updates were ran.
2. During setup created the admin account.
3. Logged into the account a simple start screen was arranged and setup by:
Starting desktop Internet Explorer. Going to Technet's website. Clicked tools and then selecting "Add site to Apps" from the drop down menu. Went to Apps screen, right clicked and pinned it to start screen. Repeated this procedure with an
educational web based site.
Right clicked a few provisioned apps and unpinned them from the start screen.
Made a few groups and labeled them. Web based shortcuts were arranged with one provisioned app in that particular group.
4. Opened a Powershell, right clicked it and ran as administrator. Typed the following:
export-startlayout -path C:\Users\Public\Master.xml -as xml
(Master is the name chosen for this test .xml file and was put in a location all users would have privelages to access it).
5. Opened the command prompt and right clicked and "ran as administrator", typed in gpedit.
6. In the Local Group Policy under User Configuration, under Start Menu and Taskbar I choose the Start Screen Layout.
7. Enabled the policy and typed in: C:\Users\Public\Master.xml for the Start Layout File.
8. Opened computer management, under Local Users and Groups I chose Users, right clicked in the middle screen and created a new user called Alpha.
9. Logged out of the inital account and logged into newly created Alpha account.
10. When the Alpha account logged in the start screen came up with everything changed in the inital account but no web based shortcuts were found on the start screen or App view.

I changed my Apple ID to my new email and now cannot find any way to access icloud. Unfortunately I had allowed icloud to hijack my airbook files, so of course I am afraid I will lose them tomorrow when I exchange my iphone for a new one and cannot keep an icloud account i cannot access. How to copy existing query report into new query report in SQ00

I want to add fields "company code" "'region" to existing query report AQZZ/SAPQUERY/FKF1============
(list of vendor address) for this i done as following:
1.In SQ01 go to "EDIT->other user group" and i selected user group as /SAPQUERY/FK
2.I typed F1 in query field and click change button
3.I clicked next screen button and entered into "change query f1: select fields screen".here i clicked "basic list" button and searched company code checkbox and saved it as result company code is appearing in the standard report"AQZZ/SAPQUERY/FKF1============"
but unfortunately there is no region field(LFA1-REGIO) for this i think i should copy the existing query report into new query report(Ex:Z_LIST_OF_VEND) which should be 14 characters.please tell me briefly how to do this because this is first time i am using SQ00.
one more issue is when i selected "edit-otheruser group" and choosing /SAPQUERY/FK i am getting only infoset "/SAPQUERY/FIKD" but i should need Info set: "/SAPQUERY/FIDD" please tell me how to add the previous one into user group.i think if i got /SAPQUERY/FIDD into usergroup /SAPQUERY/FK i can add region also into Query report as i mentioned above by going SQ01 ...............................
please help regarding this which should be very beneficiary to my carrier.

How to Get the Current data into Planning Layout from the Planning cube

I have a problem in BPS.   I am selecting the data from cube based on Month org details but I want to see the latest data.   How can i get this data into planning cube.

if i want to read based on Tran org as input values I shoud get the below data but I am getting the previous data.

Naveen,
    Are yo having issue when you save something in the layout, the data doesn't appear in the listcube ? Or do you have issue that the latest data you see in the cube doesn't appear in the layout ?
For the former issue, please look at your selections of listcube and for the second issue, please check your planning level definition, make sure all the restrictions you have applied are valid for this latest data to be presented in the layout.
