How to put total for a column at the end of the report

I have a field called requests. at the end of every print page i want the total no. of requests to be printed. how can i do that? please help urgent

If your querying requests, and your query pulls back 50 rows of data, would you say that is 50 requests in total?
A summary column is quite simple - it counts the number of rows in a given report group. If the number of rows brought back is the total number of requests, than just create it to count some column in that group (request num..etc). If you set it to reset at the report level, it should just work fine

When I run the report, I get a Sub-total of 0 and a Report Total of 0. What am I doing wrong?

Which column is the sal column? I canât see any numeric columns in your query. If you use htmldb_item calls in your query column, then this makes them strings and you canât build sums on string columns. If you want to build sums in an updateable report / tabular form, then donât use the htmldb_item API. Instead use the built-in display types on the report column attributes page. Using the built-in display types is the better options in most cases anyway and they do allow you to calculate sums even if the column is a text field or display and save type field.

Display hyperlinked icon for long columns in the Report

Hi All,
I am new to APEX and i am trying to create report in APEX.
I have column whose contents are too big and displaying it directly on the report mess up the whole report.
Instead i want to display an icon/image in the column and if user wants to see the content , he can click on it and it expands.
Can anyone help me on how can this be done ?

Actually detailed_error column is almost equal to 400 char and adding it to the static text of CSS makes it bigger than 4000 it seems.
But if i change it to

How to get total number of times excuted the report

hi,
Can you spend for a while.
Requirement is when the Monthly summary report: When report executed then in the header it has to display how many times times this is executed and data has to display(this completed).
For example out put is:
No.of times executed:20 (means this is 20th time this report is running)
here data has to display(This i completed).

How to Remove totals on few columns from SEM BPS layout

On SEM BPS layout it has 10 5 charatestics columns
and 10 key figure columns.
out of these key figures I want see totals on some
coulmns and for few columns I do not want to see totals.
for wxample it does not make sense of seeing total under
the salary incrase percentage coulmn.
Please suggest anyway we can remove total for some
columns on the layout

Hey, thanks -- everything worked as you described. It never would have occurred to me that the "put back" button refers to the browser selection not the layout selection, for reasons I give below.
I think Aperture exhibits some conceptual confusion here. First of all, a "light table" is created by the New > Light Table command, and you add images to the newly created light table just as you would add them to an album. But those images don't go on the light table layout until you drag them from the browser to the layout table. The "put back" button and "remove from light table" contextual menu command both mean remove from the layout. The phrasing of the contextual menu command make it sounds as if it will remove the clicked image from the light table's collection of images, like removing an image from an album -- it would have made more sense to name this command "put back". Furthermore, the "put back" button is above the layout display, not above the browser, which to me implies that it applies to selections in the layout display. To select an image in the browser, and click "put back selected" seems backwards -- if you just selected the image in the browser, your attention is focused on the browser, not the layout; from the browser's point of view, the button should read "bring back" not "put back".
The documentation didn't really help when I was trying to figure this out. Sometimes the Aperture documentation refers to just a "light table", as on the overview on page 732. On pages 733 and 734, though, it refers to a "light table album". On page 735 of the Aperture manual there is a very brief explanation of how "to add images to the light table" and "to remove an image from the light table". Here, "light table" refers to the layout not the album. The explanation of the "Put Back Selected" button says to select an image then click the button, and the picture shown is of an image selected in the layout, not in the browser.

How to display the total at the end of the column in the report.

Could any one please intimate, how to display the total at the end of the column. For example, i have a column, "sales" as the Key figure, and it has the data for all the transactions. Now, i would like to display the total at the end of the report, below the same column.
Similarly, for all the other columns in the report, i need to display the total for all the columns in the report.

Thanks for many suggestions. I tried by providing the "Total" under "Calculate Results as" and also "Counter for all detailed values" under "Calcuate Single Values as", in the "Calculations" tab of the key figure, but i am unable to get the information. Again, i am providing the requirement below:

Just get the desired sublist of the datalist and sum the price? You can get the starting index and the rowcount from the HtmlDataTable by its getFirst() and getRows() methods respectively and use it in List#subList(). Then iterate over the list and add the price value of every item in a loop to the total value. You can display it in the footer of the datatable. You can define a footer with <f:facet name="footer">.

CANNOT SEE TOTALS FOR SOME COLUMNS IN DISC 9I (9.0.2.39.01)

We have made new reports in Disc 9i, column totals wont appear on the report where expected, It just shows "SUM" and then blank, this is happening for all the new reports.Please help..

There are some cases where Discoverer cannot determine with certainty that the Totals or subtotals you create will be correct. It flags those totals as Values that cannot be aggregated. Go to Options-> Sheet Format and you can set what string you would like to see placed in those cells that Discoverer determines cannot be aggregated correctly.
Assuming that the blank totals are non-aggregable by Discoverer, there are some things you can do to to alter either your business area or worksheet or calculation that will enable you to get the totals you want. As this analysis takes some time and iterations, it is usually best handled through Oracle Support. Also see the doc and RN references to the EnhancedAggregationStrategy in the Preferences.
Also, given the version you are using it seems that you have just started using 9.0.2. You should strongly consider upgrading to OracleAS 10g (9.0.4) or at least upgrade to the latest 9.0.2 patch -> 9.0.2.54.

I frustrated with the problem of simple calculating total for a column. I wrote the following code:
LW_CATALOG-TABNAME   = P_GV_STRUCT.
LW_CATALOG-FIELDNAME = 'ZSUMMS'.
LW_CATALOG-DO_SUM    = GC_X.
APPEND LW_CATALOG TO G_FIELDCAT_TAB.
CLEAR LW_CATALOG.
It is not working. Could you please suggest the solution?

First entry...from is today, to is 99991231.
New dates entered, now we have two rows...:
from is original date to becomes yesterday.
From is today to is 99991231

How to disable drill option for one column in the WebI Report

Hi,
How to disable drill option in a column in WebI?
When the Drill option is enabled by default all the column in the report will have that enabled,
I ahve added Hierarchy in the Custom hierarhcy list in Universe.
I am using BOXI3.1 WebI Reports.
But I wanted only the hierarchy column to have that drill option enabled, rest all column should display text data.
PLease let me know if you have any idea.

Cretae the variable at the report level (may be with the same definiton) and then use that variable in the table
to disable the drill. It will be displayed as normal text object.
Drill functionality is enabled only on the objetcs coming from the universe.

Partial success: The following code provided by fac586 limits the column width of the Apex 4 interactive report column as long as the column data contains whitespace within a Firefox 3.6 browser:
