How to query CLOB?

One of the table column stores XML file as CLOB. Now, there is a requirement to retrieve the CLOB if one of the element matches within XML file.
Please could someone suggest what is the best way to do that.
Here is my table structure
TABLEA
COL1 COL2 COL3
String String CLOB (XML)
To get an idea, this is what i need to achieve: select * from TABLEA if COL3 contains (AccountType == "CLS").

    I know there was a problem in 6i where you would get a crash if your query returned more than {Max Length} characters of the field representing the CLOB column.

    I don't know XMLDB, so I have a dumb question about querying XML data which is saved as CLOB in a table.
    I have a table (OLAP_AW_PRC), with a CLOB column - AW_XML_TMPL_VAL

    Now I want to query the data using the xml tags - like returning the name of AW. This is where I am having trouble, how to query the data from AW_XML_TMPL_VAL clob column.

    After doing @Name in both places (SELECT and WHERE clause) it worked.
    Now I have one more question.
    There are multiple DIMENSION tags in my xml, and I want to see the NAME attribute values for all of those DIMENSIONs. The following query returns
    ORA-19025: EXTRACTVALUE returns value of only one node.
    Cause: Given XPath points to more than one node.
    Action: Rewrite the query so that exactly one node is returned.

    In this situation I do not use headers at all. Insted of that I use union in a query :

    I'm new to the web service model in oracle crm and have been trying to just get a list of the accounts in the system. I generated a .cs class from the account wsdl and added it to my asp.net project. I'm able to get a handle on the account class but not sure the right syntax to make a call out..     On the right is my line of code. The ListOfAccount member of AccountQueryPage_Input has datatype ListOfAccountQuery. In my case, a NULL is returned after the call.

  • How to handle CLOB

    In my java programme I am picking a huge data from a file and passing it to a oracle stored procedure.
    In my oracle stored procedure I pick data line by line and process and to identify a new line I use CHR(10).
    The problem is, the file containing the data has data in lines but when the data is read and sent over to oracle called procedure the new line is missing and the complete data is found in one line which is very huge. Hence the processing of data fails.
    In Java programme, How should I read the data from the file so that the new line or line terminator remains as it is. Or the data is read exactly as it is in the file.
    Also, the Oracle stored procedure argument is of CLOB type. How to handle CLOB in JAVA, that is, pass more than 32767 chars.

    Your problem is that createClob() isn't implemented until JDBC 4 (which I think will come with mustang). The usual way people deal with new Clob records on Oracle is to create the record, initially, with an empty Clob, read the record back and use getClob to get the Clob, then write to that and update the record. (Pretty aweful)
    A technique I've found works on Postgressql blobs and which is probably worth a try is to write your own, minimal implentation of Clob. All it needs to handle are the length() and getCharacterStream methods (all others throw UnsupportedOperationException or similar. Try feeding one of those through a setClob(). Might work, might not.
    With any luck JDBC will read your stream into the LOB as part of the setClob() action.

    nobody has answered my question, so now I answer myself!!  
    The wrong part is to read the file with "open dataset" and to create the inputstream with
    p_istream = p_streamfactory->create_istream_itable(
    table = g_xml_table
    size = g_xml_size ).
    Better ist to create the inputstream with
    p_istream = p_streamfactory->create_istream_uri(
    .......................PUBLIC_ID = ''
    .......................SYSTEM_ID = '
    applserver\I$\TEMP\Datei.XML' ).
    In this way no space is needed for the file.

  • How to convert CLOB to BLOB with SQL Developer migration wizard?

    Hi,
    According to our requirement, we need to only migrate data from SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 11. I use the SQL Developer 3.0.04 migration wizard to do it.
    I do migration from SQL Server (database name: SCDS41P2) to Oracle (User name: HCDS41P2).
    My migration steps are as below: (I need to modify the target schema, so I add the steps 2) and step 3) )
    1) Do migration by SQL Developer migration wizard;
    2) Remove the Converted Database Objects node from migration project;
    3) Re-do convert by SQL Developer migration wizard (contains changing the target schema);
    When do step 1), the DBO_SCDS41P2 user is created automatically. CLOBTOBLOB_SQLDEVELOPER procedure is also created in this user.
    I continued to run step 2) and step 3) with online mode. And find the table data which contains BLOB column can be moved into the target table. But from the Logging Page, I can't see the other detailed error info, so that I can't check which tables don't move data successfully.
    Could you please tell me where the detail log file (e.g. contains every table's migration status) is if I use the online mode?
    Additional, If I use offline mode to do step 3), I found the CLOB data can't be converted into BLOB automatically. Because in the load script (that is oracle_ctl.bat), only copy the source data to the CLOB column. After copy, it don't deal with the converting from CLOB to BLOB.
    So could you please tell me how to convert CLOB to BLOB with offline mode?

    For your first question about logging - after the migration there will be an entry in the right hand panel for the migration project. If you open this there are various fields that give information about the status of each part of the migration. Does this give you the information you need ?
    For the second problem about offline moving blob data have a look at the SQL*Developer documentation -
    Oracle® SQL Developer User’s Guide Release 3.0
    in the section -
    2.2.8.1.4 Populating the Destination Database Using the Data Files
    which describes the problem and how to get round it.

  • How to query database to retrieve code to create existing objects(nonPLSQL)

    Hi,
    I would like to know how to query the database so I can pull out the SQL required to create objects. I can already get the code for PL/SQL objects such as triggers and procedures by using DBA_SOURCE, however I also need to pull out code for objects like indexes, synonyms, libraries and views that are not stored in DBA_SOURCE. My colleague has suggested creating an index file from a metadata export however I only want code for broken objects and I need it to run automatically across all my databases with a single windows command script. Can anyone help me with this? TOAD manages to get the code for the objects but if it isn't stored in the DB then maybe it's creating it on the fly.

    If you run an export with rows=N, you can produce a file with all the scripts.
    Otherwise you might want to look at DBMS_METADATA.
    We would just reference the original scripts in our source control, but hey, we're crazy like that.
