How to remove admin account and set up a new one?

Hello, 
I have a new imac and would like to clean off my old one to give it to my son, leaving the apps on it that he wants.  I think I create an account in his name, make it the administrator, then delete mine, or basically I delete my user info, so all my pictures and music are gone, etc.  Am I stating this process correctly?
