I'm having problems with my printer. When I try to uninstall the software, and after I shut down my computer, I get this message that I need to "remove IntelliType Pro software, then run IntelliType Pro setup again

I have had this same problem. I had Tiger, and my mighty mouse worked fine. But then I installed the CD that came with it and it ruined the mouse pref pane so that it looked like you were using the mighty mouse in 10.3.9.
I had no fix to this, but when I got my wireless mighty mouse and installed the software, it restored the preferance pane and now my wired mighty mouse has the tiger features again.

You may have installed the "CinemaPlus" ad-injection malware. I suggest the procedure below to disable it. This procedure may leave a few small files behind, but it will permanently deactivate the malware (as long as you never reinstall it.)
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including one called "Cinema-Plus." If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome browser, if you use it.
Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Application Support/Mozilla/Extensions/{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}/[email protected]ea7ca5c5.com
Right-click or control-click the line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.
If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder may open with an item selected. It will have a long name ending in ".com". Move it to the Trash.
Move this item, if it exists, to the Trash in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/cinemas-+-plus-+_updater.plist
If there are any other files in the same folder with a similar name beginning in "cinemas-+-plus", move them to the Trash too.
Log out or restart the computer and empty the Trash.
This malware is sometimes distributed with another kind of ad-injection malware called "SearchProtect" or "Trovi." If applicable, follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.

I am new to Mac and I am not a Unix system programmer.
I purchased a MagicJack Plus for my sister and I set it up using my new iMac for her. Now I would like to remove the setup software from my iMac as I do not like to leave extraneous software on my machine. Also, MagicJack seems to be even more clueless than me, which I find VERY disturbing.
I. I viewed and attempted to execut instructions outlined in "How do I uninstall magicJack from my computer?" on MJ wesite as follows:
Download CompleteUninstall.sh. After the download is complete, open a terminal window by navigating to /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.
In the Terminal Window, navigate to your download directory (usually Downloads) by typing cd Downloads and pressing enter. Next, type chmod+x CompleteUninstall.sh and press enter. Now type ./CompleteUninstall.sh and press enter again.
For reference the CompleteUninstall.sh script contains the following:

The change ownership command failed, I presume because the path to the Unix Commands directory is not set? If so, how do I set it and then reset everything back to current defaults?

Thanks VERY much.......this solved my problem.
I just cut and pasted the command into my terminal session. I assumed the format was correct as the exact same command set format was used on several different web sites giving instructions on how to remove the magicjack software.
Amazing how incorrect info gets propagated around the web!

Removing blackberry desktop software

I recently started working at a new company, and the previous user had installed the blackberry desktop software. i figured out how to remove the pc software system.
here's what you do:
pop the user guide tools & reinstall everything. restart your computer. after that go to control panel, then add/remove programs. DO NOT TAKE THE DISC OUT OF THE CD-ROM YET! Then click on the change/remove. there's gonna be a pop-up that asks you what do you want to do. click on remove & just follow everything.

How to remove printer drivers and associated software?

I'm fairly new to Apple, so please bear with me... I recently upgraded to an Airprint-compatible all-in-one (HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus) and have given my previous Canon MG6150 all-in-one to my daughter. Now I want to remove the Canon software and the printer driver. There's no uninstall routines, I've searched the Internet extensively but despite looking carefully in Cannon and Apple sites, haven't found anything that documents my circumstances..
The software includes
- Canon IJ Network scanner (currently in menu bar at top left of screen)
- Easy-Photo Print
- Canon Solution Menu EX
- Canon OnScreen Manual
- MP Navigator EX
- MP Navigator EX Opener
Most of these seem to be in the Applications folder. Is it just a case of deleting these from the Applications folder or is there something else to do?
Then there's two drivers (printer and scanner) for the MG6150 all-in-one. There a *massive pile* of files within Library/Printers/Canon within folders called BJPrinter and IJScanner. One of these is the Canon IJ Network software referred to above.
Would appreciate advice...

First, resetting your printing system is a good start: right-click on any printer in the System Preferences and click on the command.
Next, while in System Prefs, remove anything printer/scanner related from your Login Items list, e.g. the IJ network scanner.
Log out and back in, the menu item should be gone now.
Now you can go and delete all apps manually, as well as anything Canon related from all Libraries, or get the free "AppCleaner" and drag and drop each app onto it - what's eventually left you can live with.
Restart, then install the new software.

If all else fails, try this. i used to do it all the time before. might or might not work with the new office.
if you have access to another computer with a cd/dvd rom, copy the entire contents of the cd on a thumb drive.
insert the thumb drive in your MB and do the install from there.
However, if you have the newer version of MS Office, Bandit's suggestion is much better.

Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. What "app cleaner software" ? I ask because installing Photoshop over a previous version has never been a problem. Perhaps your difficulty stems from another source, eg. "cleaner software" ?
If you look in your hard drive, at the root level there is a Library. In there is a folder called Application Support, and in that you will find a folder called Adobe. Files from your previous version are there.
However, I urge you to call Adobe support to make sure you are not doing anything that would mess up other Adobe applications.

Thank you - I was able to sign in under my husband's email address. I still cannot seem to figure out how to download the Adobe Pro software to my computer as I had done for my original computer. How to remove Software Update notice on iPhone 5 after deleting iOS 8.01

I successfully deleted the downloaded but non-installed 8.01 update from my iPhone 5. However, my phone still shows that I have a pending software update to do. When I select the "Software Update" option I'm alerted that "Your software is up to date" and iOS 8.0 shows as the current software installed. I've rebooted the phone but the digit "1" still shows up in the Settings>General section. Any idea how to remove this now false update notification?
