How to rename a Database - 10g

Hello Experts,
Can anyone please provide me all steps to rename a stand alone database. Any pointers would be of much help.

With regards to the archive logs, these are needed to recover your backed up datafiles. So, what you keep is largely determined by your backup strategy. Check out:

I search "tnsnames.ora" in my computer. I found 3 file
1. C:\oraclexe\app\product\10.2.0\server\hs\admin\tnsnames.ora

i downloaded Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3) for windows vista
but i have difficult to install it i mean i wana know the steps to install oracle
could u show me by photo or video how to install oracle in my labtob
also some of my friend said u should have a local server in ur labtop to make oracle programe work .... is it true??

The complete installation installation guide is included with the installation software. It is also part of the exhaustively complete documentation set for every oracle product found at tahiti.oracle.com. Go there, select your product and version. When you arrive at the page for your specific product version, somewhere on that page (location varies between versions) you will find a link to the installation guide.
Also please note that there are several versions of Vista, and the Oracle db is not certified for all of them, but only for specific versions.

How to Connect Oracle Database 10g with using Oracle Dev 10g

I have problem with connection on database 10g using oracle dev 10g on the same server.
The message is: TNS... bla..bla... it means not connect.

just simple
copy the from the database instance the tnsnames.ora
file's entried into developer folders tnsnames.ora
file and you can connect to DBFirst of all there is no such error as TNS... bla..bla... it means not connect.
there are several errors for the tnsnames, post the exact error
And it is not recommended that you copy it from the database's tnsnames file, it doesn't always work.
to configure the tnsnames.ora you have 2 ways, manual and GUI.
For GUI use the Net configuration assistance from your Devsuite home and for manual you need edit the tnsnames.ora file usually under %ORACLE_HOME%/NETWORK/ADMIN
You need to specify the connection string name, the hostname and the database SID name. It should look something like this.
<connection identifier> =
(DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = host name)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVICE_NAME = SID)

I am trying to rename an oracle database on windows 2000. I am having some issues...can anyone help me how to fix it.
Trace file is created from existing database (ORCLDB) using alter database backup controlfile to trace
and the following steps are followed....
Modify (and optionally rename) the created trace file:
Find the line reading # Set #2. RESETLOGS case
Remove all lines above this line.
Change the line containing the database name from CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE DATABASE "ORA9" RESETLOGS NOARCHIVELOG
to
CREATE CONTROLFILE SET DATABASE "CAT" RESETLOGS NOARCHIVELOG
Note, in my case, the database is running in noarchive log mode. The corresponding line reads ARCHIVELOG otherwise.
Remove the line reading RECOVER DATABASE USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE.
Remove lines starting with #.
the edited .trc file is saved as rename.sql

Bcaz there is no SVRMGRL in 9i....How do i connect ??

Missing Downloads of Oracle Database 10g Release 1

Does anyone know how to download Oracle Database 10g Release 1 for Non Mac OSX operating systems?
It seem to have disappeared from the download page , only the Mac OSX version remains.

I can still download a full range or oracle 9i software for all the different OS's.

11g is now on its way, all platforms (except MacOS) support 10gR2, that may be the reason, why Oracle no longer offers 10gR1 for downloading.

It says: "•Wrapping is not a secure method for hiding passwords or table names.
Wrapping a PL/SQL unit prevents most users from examining the source code, but might not stop all of them."

I just want to know how to install Oracle Label Security in Oracle 10g Database EE.
I read in Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control Installation and Basic Configuration that Label Security must be installed before installing Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
I have Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.1) on my Windows XP System, and I patch it to 10.1.0.3.

I have two databases namely ORCL and ORCL1.
First I created ORCL and later ORCL1.
Now I am able to see the tables from ORCL1 only.
How can I switch to ORCL?
