  • Renaming and copying files (Bridge CS3)

    Hi -- Scripting bridge, I am able to copy files using the copyTo(target) function.
    I also can rename files using the Javascript file.rename() function.
    But I am having trouble doing both in concert.
    If I rename before I copy, I lose the reference to the selected thumb, and I cannot copy it.
    I have tried using the Javascript file.copy() function with no success.
    Does anyone have any suggestions how I can approach this problem?
    thanks in advance

    Don't you just need to cancat the folder that you have as target and the thumbs name in a new file object?
    #target bridge
    var thisFolder = Folder.desktop;
    var thisFile = app.document.selections[0];
    if (thisFile.type == 'file') {
         if (thisFile.copyTo(thisFolder)) {
              var newFile = File(thisFolder.fsName + '/' + thisFile.name);
              newFile.rename('SomeNewName');

  • Renaming and copying file in scriptask

    Hi All,
    I have created a package in which once the process is over , i want to add today's date to my source file and move it to another folder.
    suppose my source file is Test.xls. i want to change the name of my file to FilePolling.20150224.Test.xls

    Open up your System File Task and go to the expressions tab. Press the elipsis button, select Destination as the property, and use:
    "c:\\myFolder\\FilePolling."+(DT_WSTR, 4) DATEPART("year",GETDATE())+RIGHT("00"+(DT_WSTR, 4) DATEPART("month",GETDATE()),2)+RIGHT("00"+(DT_WSTR, 4) DATEPART("day",GETDATE()),2)+".xls"
    as your value, replacing c:\\myFolder\\ with your actual path. Remember not to use mapped drives, instead use the actual UNC path.

  • How to turn off "Copy Files on Import"

    I'm new to Photoshop Elements 9 and the Organizer.  I'm trying to import my pictures into the organizer but I don't want to copy the file from the network drive to my local Macbook hard drive.  Unfortunately I can't figure out how to turn off the "Copy Files on Import" checkbox.
    From within the Organizer I am selecting:
    File -> Get Photos and Videos -> From Files and Folder
    This opens a Finder window and I can navigate to the network drive, select the source folder, and select the files I want to import.  I just can't seem to figure out how to disable the "Copy Files on Import" option.  Is there something in Prefences that I need to change to allow me the option?
    Thanks,
    Vince

    From the PSE9 help :
    Add files from specific folders
    In the Elements Organizer, from the Display menu, select Folder Location.The folder hierarchy panel opens on the left side of the Media Browser.
    In the folder hierarchy panel, browse to the folder containing the files you want to import.
    Right-click/Control-click the folder, and choose Import To Organizer.The Getting Photos dialog box will report whether files were imported.
    Click OK.
    If files were imported, the folder’s icon changes from an Unmanaged Folder icon to a Managed Folder icon .

    how to rename a pdf file on android 4.0

    If you have the latest version of Adobe Reader, you can go to Documents, make sure that the view is set to "Folder View". Navigate to see the file you want to rename, and then you can use the "manage" button to go into a mode to select the file you want to rename, then tap the "rename" icon, which looks like a text cursor.

  • How to use an external hard drive and copy files to the disk for mac and windows??

    please tell me how to copy files to external hard disk and use it for both mac and windows. there is the fat32 formatting bt i dont wanna use formatting because i already have a lot of content on the exteral hard disk. thank you.

    It is simplest to have the HDD formatted to noe common to both Mac an PC.  ExFAT is one.  But to do that will erase all data on the HDD.
    If the HDD id formatted NTFS, Mac can read but not write to it.  The solution then is to use a third party application such as Paragon or Tuxera which will overcome that obstacle.  These applications do have mixed reviews.
    Ciao.

  • How to Mount an ext. HD, and Copy Files to it -- under Windows???

    I'm a Mac person, and so, I know how to attach an external FireWire hard drive to my Mac, mount the disk, and use the Finder to Copy files from the Mac to the external volume.
    But would someone, please, write a step-by-step guide for doing the same thing under Windows???
    It's for the simple purpose of preserving a small number of files on the external volume.
    Many Thanks In Advance.

    "write a step-by-step guide for doing the same thing under Windows???"
    You use the same procedure...attach the drive, it shows up while browsing "My Computer, double click it.
    However, Windows cannot read Mac formatted drives unless install third party software such as MacDrive.

  • How can I open and copy files on the win side from the  mac side?

    I am working on the mac side and I need to be able to copy files from the mac side that I create over to the win side.  I can open and view win files when I am booted to Snow Leopard, but I cant copy files to the win side.  I think Macdrive does the opposite.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,
    C

    to write to Windows NTFS you need 3rd party.
    You have read only access to HFS from Windows.
    MacDrive8 works in Windows to add write to HFS as does Paragon. Paragon has what I have come to see as the best NTFS driver for OS X, and they have a separate HFS8 for Windows similar to MacDrive8.
    Maybe you want to run Windows as a client OS using Parallels instead?

  • How to rename back to files instead of folder artist / song

    Hello,
    I have folder full of mp3 that I want to simply be organized by file. In playing around with iTunes, I pointed it to that folder and it did a mass reorganization of all of my mp3s into the classic artist / album / song when all I want is the way it was with a list of all files and not in folders. I plan to copy these into the iTunes music folder so they can be organized that way.
    How do I "undo" what iTunes did and get it back to the way it was? This did not happen by iTunes copying the files since I pointed iTunes directly to that folder, it renamed my actual files. This is an error on my part, but there has to be a way to undo this (nope, don't have a backup copy or anything since I didn't think iTunes would actually modify my files).
    Thanks!

    I found MusicBrainz tagger and will give that a shot, but I'm sure it won't get many songs.
    MusicBrainz is the only really good way to take a bunch of unorganized files and tag them properly. However, I've found that it's actually quite good. It gets about 60-70% without any intervention, and the rest it will make a best guess and and let you confirm whether it's guess was correct. It isn't exactly the simplest program in the world to use though, but works quite easily once you get the hang of it.
    Sign up for a musicbrainz account before using the tagger. You really need an account to use the manual features of the program.
