How to rename field in t.code CAT2.

I am doing userexits
in the t.code CAT2, i want to rename one field.
how to do the same.

You have to use one of 10 additional fields available in CATSDB table and rename and populate for WBS description. Take the following steps.
There are the following steps.
(1) Create include CI_CATDB with your custom fields
(2) Create a project (CMOD) for enhancement CATS0005
(3) part of SAPLCATS,8900 screen. Place your create subscreen SAPLXCAT, 1000. SAP has provided screenexit for this. This screen becomes ustom fields on this screen.
(4) In configuration (transaction SPRO), go to Cross application/timesheet/customer specific modification/create customer field/make field assignment
there you assign your custom field to CATS_ADDF1_FIELDS.
(5) Use CATS0005 enhancement to populate the field.

Pls suggest how to update Business Place & Section Code field in documents which are posted without entering Business Place & Section Code. Pls tell me how to achieve this without using Validations & Substitutions. Any table entries can be maintained for this? Kindly guide.

In sets (t-code GS01-04): How to change Field name

HI,
I have created sets for rule in validation by t-code GS01. Where I have given Tbale name BSEG and Field name KOSTL(Cost Center No). Now, I want to change field name SAKNR (GL NO) instead of cost center. When I am trying to change field name t-code GS02, there is field name is in display mode and no way to change it.
As I have lot of entries in each set, so that creation of new sets is very hard job again. Further when I trying to create new sets by reference it didnt change the table name and field name.
Please provide me a solution.

Hope it is not possible, logically total field is changing and the dependent entrie will not stay as it is. I don't think this is possible.
Eventhough the values are same but the fields are different.

The entries are stored in the CATSDB table.. you can do a look up by PERNR, DATE & Attendance/Absence type on this table to see what you have saved voa CAT2 transaction.

I have created a view with table maintenance generator. I would like to hide some fields. With event I am able to fill in those fields but I want to hide those from screen.

For example

I am going to hide last fied..To do this

Please let me know how to populate field catalogue fields in ALV using dynamic internal table.
I have created <dyn_table> using code below.

In my ALV report I am getting the final layout properly but I am unable to move values to corresponding fields in the final layout shown.Please let me know how to populate these fields from different tables.

How to rename a file in Application server

Hi All,
Here I have a issue with the present file which is being generated in application server.
Before the completion of the file the EDI tool is extracting the file from the app server.So here I would like to generate the file with a temp name and then rename to the actual file name which EDI recognises and fetches.
Please correct me If I am wrong and let me know how to rename the file in application server.

you can try using unix command , if your application server is unix.
use move command
mv <source> <target>
REPORT ZUNIX line-size 400
 no standard page heading.
data: unixcom like rlgrap-filename.
unixcom = 'mv file1 file2'.
data: begin of tabl occurs 500,
 line(400),
 end of tabl.
data: lines type i.
start-of-selection.

or else you can open dataset/ read the dataset and move it to another file and delete the old file.

Very Urgent: how to define field symbols in class using se24 Points assured

hi all
I am new to abap oo programming. I am using se24 to build a class
where some methods have code which involves working with field sybmols but i am not able to figure out way for how to define field symbols in the attributes section.
I tried defining like : fld_sym type ref to dbtab-fld
but in the method implementation if i try to use it like assign fld to <fld_sym> there it says fld_sym is not defined as a field symbol.
So can anyone please guide me how to define field symbols in se24.
Also what should be the general steps while creating a class using se24.

Global classes are like Global fun modules in which the Methods and code is already written and is mainly used for Reusability purpose.
Goto SE24 tcode and see the std global classes like

If you are assigning a Value which is not in the Choice Column, You need to create a choice value then assign it to the item.
