How to restart/force run of APEX jobs?

Our development server system date was temporarily set to a period in the future, which meant that our Oracle jobs were left with their 'next date' also set to a time in the future.
For most of our jobs, we could simply log in as the schema owner and manually restart/run the affected jobs.
With the APEX-based jobs, we has a problem in that they were owned by the 'flows' user and their password was unknown/random from installation.
We got around the problem by using the 'su' method (see http://asktom.oracle.com/tkyte/Misc/su.html) to temporarily change the password.
Is there an official way of restarting/force-running APEX jobs? By default, there are the mail queue flushing and session clearing jobs but I assume that any other jobs created within APEX will have similar issues?

Hello,
This is what you can do in SM37.
Execute the list of batch jobs, when the result appears on the screen edit the ALV grid via CTRL+F7.
Now add the following columns "TargetServ" and "Executing server".
You will now have two extra columns in your result list.
TargetServr contains the value of the application server where the job should run when you have explicitely filled it in.
Often this is empty, this means that at runtime SAP will determine itself on which application server the job will run (depending of course where the BGD processes are defined).
Executing server is filled in always for all executed jobs, this is the actual application server where the job has run.
You can also add these two fields in your initial selection screen of SM37 by using the "Extended job selection" button.
I hope this isusefull.

  • Manually running a cron job in SunOS 5.8

    I was looking in the Solaris documentation and UNIX Man pages, however how do I manually run a cron job that is already set-up? I am troubleshooting an issue and the cron job runs just fine during the night, I would like to execute it manually for testing purposes. Thank you in advance.

    Run this command :
    crontab -l
    And, look for the command you want to run and then just execute it on command line. The first five columns (separated by spaces) are date/time/day (skip those), after that you will see full path of the script/program. Just copy and paste that full path on command line.

  • How to restart a java program

    Hi
    I have seen a couple of topics on how to restart a running java program .. and here is a sollution .. i'm sure there are more ..
    you have to start your program using a batch file .. and it sould look like this:
    :start
    ..\j2sdk1.4.0_02\jre\bin\java -classpath . YourProgram
    if errorlevel 1 goto start
    the last line checks if the program is exited with errorcode 1 and if that is the case the program starts over(it goes to :start) .. and if not the program exits ..
    The java code for a restart is simple: System.exit(1);
    And the code for plain exit is System.exit(0);
    Hope it will help somebody .. :)
    // Anders Orsedal

    Neat, shouldn't it be neater still to do all of it from java? Am I wrong if guess that you should be able to start a new instance from inside of java, before letting it kill itself?
    e.g.
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("java .... .");
    System.exit(whatever value);

  • How to stop a running job in 10g Scheduler?

    The following is a duplicate post. I posted the following to the general database forum before seeing that otn has a new scheduler forum:
    I am not able to find in the Admin Guide a method to stop a currently running instance of a job in the 10g scheduler.
    In 9i, I run the following script calling DBMS_JOB.broken and DBMS_JOB.remove to shut down currently running jobs:
    DECLARE
    jobid NUMBER;
    CURSOR c1
    IS
    SELECT job
    FROM dba_jobs
    WHERE priv_user = 'ME';
    BEGIN
    OPEN c1;
    LOOP
    FETCH c1
    INTO jobid;
    EXIT WHEN c1%NOTFOUND;
    DBMS_JOB.broken (jobid, TRUE);
    COMMIT;
    DBMS_JOB.remove (jobid);
    COMMIT;
    END LOOP;
    CLOSE c1;
    END;
    How may I create similar code to shut down currently running jobs using DBMS_SCHEDULER in 10g? According to the Admin Guide, disabling jobs with the force option will still allow the job to finish.
    How can I terminate a running job in 10g?

    You can stop a currently running job using the STOP_JOB api.
    STOP_JOB Procedure
    This procedure stops currently running jobs or all jobs in a job class. Any instance of the job will be stopped. After stopping the job, the state of a one-time job will be set to SUCCEEDED whereas the state of a repeating job will be set to SCHEDULED or COMPLETED depending on whether the next run of the job is scheduled.
    Syntax
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.STOP_JOB (
    job_name IN VARCHAR2
    force IN BOOLEAN DEFAULT FALSE);
    Parameters
    Table 83-44 STOP_JOB Procedure Parameters
    Parameter Description
    job_name
    The name of the job or job class. Can be a comma-delimited list. For a job class, the SYS schema should be specified.
    If the name of a job class is specified, the jobs that belong to that job class are stopped. The job class is not affected by this call.
    force
    If force is set to FALSE, the Scheduler tries to gracefully stop the job using an interrupt mechanism. This method gives control back to the slave process, which can update the status of the job in the job queue to stopped. If this fails, an error is returned.
    If force is set to TRUE, the Scheduler will immediately terminate the job slave. Oracle recommends that STOP_JOB with force set to TRUE be used only after a STOP_JOB with force set to FALSE has failed.
    Use of the force option requires the MANAGE SCHEDULER system privilege.
    Setting force to TRUE is not supported for jobs of type executable.
    Usage Notes
    STOP_JOB without the force option requires that you be the owner of the job or have ALTER privileges on that job. You can also stop a job if you have the CREATE ANY JOB or MANAGE SCHEDULER privilege.
    STOP_JOB with the force option requires that have the MANAGE SCHEDULER privilege.

    Well if there is a EFI block, then running a program in OS X isn't going to do a lick of good.
    After all EFI was designed for Trusted Computing and Digital Rights Management, to act between the OS and hardware, can read drives, contact the Internet and everything.
    Windows doesn't use EFI, will have UEFI in Windows 8 though.

  • How to run long background jobs in ADF applications

    Hi,
    I'm looking for some guidance on how to run an asynchronous job within an ADF application with proper progress notification in the current page.
    Let's assume we have some long running task (e.g. generating notification emails from a bunch of rows in my view object and send them) with the corresponding classes implemented in the DataModel as part of the business logic (e.g. a class that sends a mail to a given recipient).
    Let's assume all the relevant methods can be exposed in the appmodule's client interface so they can be invoked from the ViewController if needed.
    In my jspx page I have implemented the standard af:poll+af:progressIndicator mechanism to give feedback about the running task, backed by a custom BoundedRangeModel
    with methods getValue() and getMaximum(). This works.
    However, all the examples I've found on the net are very very simplistic and only deal with simple counters or countdowns.
    But how to actually implement the whole mechanism in a real life scenario? How do I run the job itself and make it give feedback to my BoundedRangeModel class
    (which in turn is used by the progressIndicator on the page)?
    Is there a recommended way to do this within ADF apps? I've tried to search something about asynchronous method execution in ADF but there seems to be nothing out there.
    Do I need to use standard Java techniques such as a separate Thread running a Runnable worker? Should I use an observer/observable pattern to notify BoundedRangeModel
    and update its internal variables (current value and maximum)? Would this work across a Datacontrol interface?
    Is anything of this allowed within the ADF framework or I'm just gonna break the whole framework model because do-it-yourself concurrent programming isn't allowed in a multithreaded pooled environment?
    Some explanation about the current recommended best practices and/or some practical examples or articles about that would be great.
    (BTW: I'm using version 11.1.1.2.0 and yes, I've checked the contextual events thing too, but that's just an inter-page communication mechanism so it has has nothing to do with what I need to do.)

    Hi
    I have implement a "Runner" class to generate a pdf to every customer of a mailmerge file, which was uploaded. Its simply easy to do something like this. Just add a button, bound the button with a methode out of you applicationModule and start your implementing Thread in this methode.
    public class Runner implements Runnable {
        private String docFileName;
        private String csvFileName;
        private byte[] csvData;
        private byte[] docData;
        private FtpClient client;
        private String category;
        public Runner(String category, String docFileName, byte[] docData,
                      String csvFileName, byte[] csvData, FtpClient client) {
            this.category = category;
            this.docFileName = docFileName;
            this.docData = docData;
            this.csvFileName = csvFileName;
            this.csvData = csvData;
            this.client = client;
        public void run() {
    }In your applicationModule, you can start your Runner like this:
            Runner runner =
                new Runner(category, docFileName, docData, csvFileName, csvData, client);
            new Thread(runner).start();And to the problem with your progressBar. I would create a managedBean with a HashMap<String, HashMap<String, String>>. Every thread you start, add a HashMap<String, String> to this hashmap with the id of the username/session/whatever (must be bound to the user, which starts the thread). This added HashMap<String, String> should be used by your thread to put some status-information into. Now you can try to bind this info to your progressBar.
    I dont know if this will work, it is just an idea ;-)

  • How to restart ipad once battery has run down

    how to restart ipad once battery has run down

    The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
    Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

    At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • How to restore system RAM memory when i run DI batch job process

    How to restore system RAM memory when i run DI batch job process
    I use SAP-B12005SP53 and i develop with Business Partner Object

    HI ALL
    TAKE CARE: Nothing was working in VB6, but in .NET it sets the default value !
    from help of VS.
    When you assign Nothing to an object variable, it no longer refers to any object instance. If the variable had previously referred to an instance, setting it to Nothing does not terminate the instance itself. The instance is terminated, and the memory and system resources associated with it are released, only after the garbage collector (GC) detects that there are no active references remaining.
    Garbage Collector distroyes the objects at the end of the sub of function, not in the loop.
    So use local variables when you loading the 7000 items. For me working fine and i do not have a memory problems. I am loading 50000 items with prices from EDI file, and memory usage stops at 120MB.
    1st solution  create a sub or a function to populate the data, and run this for every items by as single rutin,
      sub x
        Dim obj As New Object()
            Try
    ... put here your update code
            Catch ex As Exception
            Finally
                GC.Collect()
            End Try
      end sub
    This free up the memory when Garbage
    2nd solution: use inner loop definition
      sub x
    Try
                Do While True
                    Dim obj As New Object()
                Loop
            Catch ex As Exception
            Finally
                GC.Collect()
            End Try
      end sub
    This free up the memory inside the loop.
    I recommend to use Friend Class keyword for your addon declaration and do not use modules.
    Modules and shared classes will be free up the memory when your program terminates execution.

    How do I restart forcefully while one program I've downloaded online (PDFpen) can't be closed neither removed?!!

    Hold down the power button until the screen goes black if it's really necessary.
    In your case, you can force quit.
    When an app won't quit as it should, click Force Quit from your Apple  drop down menu or press Option + Command + Esc.
    Select the app then click Force Quit.
    That way it's not necessary to shut down your Mac.

  • How to stop Parrallell running of same batch jobs

    Dear Experts,
    I have a batch job running every 10 minutes to create and process Outbound Delivery.
    Now, Due to high volume, some jobs may take more than 10 minutes.
    In this case, some times we have 2 jobs running parallely because of the 10 minutes interval.
    How can we stop parrallell running of same jobs?
    I want to stop starting of the next job if the first job is already running.
    Please suggest
    regards,
    Sehtty

    maybe you need to reorganize how you run your jobs, instead of 10 minutes interval you may need to change it to event triggered job run.
    Create a small program B that checks if the job A is running, and that triggers an event in case the job A is not running.
    plan this small program B to run every 10 minutes, change your old job A to run based on the event that is given by the other program.
    Result: if the job A is not running after 10 minutes, then the event is issued and your job A is started.
    if job A is still running after 10 minutes, then no event is triggered, 10 minutes later B is again checking if A is running  and the loop starts again.

  • How do I monitor running jobs in the Portal (or other J2EE)

    How do I monitor running jobs in the Portal (or other J2EE), like SM66 in

Oracle is intended as a multi-user multi-processing server. It is designed that way. It is developed that. It is sold and used that way.
    Why would you want to kick off all other processes (sessions) just to run a single batch process? To make it faster?
    If so, and the idea is to make the batch process faster, then
    a) WHAT makes the batch process slow?
    b) did you determine that this is caused by other processes?

  • How to check running instance of a program, when its run by a job

    Hello,
    I have a report run by a job, twice a day. The thing is, the second run cannot start, if the first one hasn't finished (quite possible).
    So i would like in my report to check if an instance of this report is already running.
    I tried the solutions supplied by Rich Heilman with:
    'ENQUEUE_E_TRDIR' and 'ENQUEUE_ESINDX'
    i also tried locking an entry in table TVARV
    One more thing is, if the program stops with an error, or doesnt finish execution, it shouldnt need any manual reseting - i though of making an entry in tavrv and correcting it at the end of execution, but that would be the issue.
    Thanks for any help,
    Edited by: Michal Szczerbowski on Nov 17, 2008 3:08 PM

    Instead of locking the entry and leaving it unattented incase of error, you may give a try to implement solution like:
    1. Get the all running processes on the server by executing the FM TH_WPINFO.
    2. Check the Exporting table WPLIST with:
    WP_ITYPE = 4
    WP_REPORT = program_name_for_job
    If you find any entry in the table WPLIST that gives you the running instance of the that program in the job.
