How to retain variable values across a BPEL Process?

Hi All,
I've created a BPEL process using number of variables. Out of these I've a common variable with name processorBO that is required for calling every service. But after calling a service, I lose values inside processorBO and it gets filled with the new values.
Can anyone tell me how to retain the processorBO values across complete process so that, I can use the required values at appropriate places ?

well...you could always use the transformations to do the assign, or if you want to use just the assign activity to set the response values from the service to the 'global variable' you could use something like
<copy>
      <from variable="inputVariable" part="payload"
            query="/client:testProcessProcessRequest"/>
      <to variable="globalVariable" part="payload"
          query="/client:testList[1]"/>
</copy>the [1] will assign your values to the array-part of the variable.
This does the same as a for-each in your xsl transformation.

Retain variable values across web templates during a web session

Hi all,
How can we let web template get variable values from another template's variable values so as to keep the same entry values as previous report run?
For example 0vendor has a variable (for single, mandory) used in all vendor related web templates. "vendor1" was entered for the second template.
I tried to use "SET/GET PARAMETER" in variable user exit. It works in BI with RSRT, but it doesn't work with Bex or Web template. Looks like web session is not sync with the ABAP stack.
How about using cookie? How to create/reset cookie in variable user exit? Can we get variable values from web server memory or user session data?

Hi Arun,
All the web templates are randomly run by user, there are no set of templates run after one template. Any templates can run after any other web template.
Basically we link web templates with portal menu items. any report can be run by any sequence. The thing the new report need to take the previous selection values from common variables.

How to pass multiple values while invoking bpel process from ADF?

I want to call a bpel process from my ADF application. The bpel process is having one input parameter. I have created webservice data control by using WSDL url.
Lets say, I have an Emp multi select table. I drag and drop the data control into Emp table selection facet to create an "Invoke" button.
I am able to pass single value (lets say Empid) to the bpel process after clicking the "Invoke" button.
But, my requirement is to pass all the selected values ( as its a multi select table) to the bpel process after clicking the "Invoke" button once.
How can I achieve this?

if the BPEL method that you access allows you to pass arrays or lists, then you can get a list of selectedRowKeys from the table, which then you use to get the value from the underlying binding or the table. This however requires some Java coding instead of directly invoking the executable on the binding layer
- you create the BPEL method in the binding layer
- from a Java managed bean you call ADFBindingContext --> get current instance and access Binding container
- OperationBinding oper = (OperationBinding ) bindings.get("method to invoke");
oper.gerParamsMap().put("the BPel argument name", value);
oper.execute();
- To access the table selected rows
RowKeySet rks = _table.getSelectedRowKeys();
//iterate over the set of selected row keys and delete

How to access variable values across mappings?

Hi all,
I have created the following sample class Test.java and imported it as an archive:
public class Test{
public static String myStringData = null;
In one of the mappings, I have a UDF that sets the "myStringData" using the foll:
Test.myStringData = "Amit";
I am trying to access this variable in another mapping using a UDF with foll statements:
String test = Test.myStringData;
result.addValue(test);
However, on testing the second mapping I get the value of the variable as null. I have activated all objects.
Not sure what exactly I am missing here...Kindly provide your inputs.

the truth is that you should not write anything from message mappings
as:
what happens if the DB table to which you want to write will be locked
what happens if the file will not be accessible ?
it's better not to write anything from message mappings
especiall if you say you're new to XI
maybe just tell us the real problem - why do you think you need to do it?

What I am looking for is a method to get the value of variable inside excel (e.g. put it into a cell / range of a worksheet, so that we can reference it and use it as an input for planning function execution).

Pass variable values with VBA and BI 7.0 funtions to Query
At first a remark u2013 Iu2019ve read a lot of threads saying that passing values to a query can be done by using VBA code only. Iu2019ve tested it but Iu2019m not sufficient with the new BEX 7.0 API and therefore I use a mixture of BEX 7.0 funtionality and VBA. I create a BEX 7.0 design item button passing the values to a query u2013 I hide this button somewhere on the sheet or on a hidden sheet and I then raise the event to click the button from VBA code. Works fine and the maintenance is easier if something changes in the API in the future again.
How to start:
Switch to design mode in BEX Analyzer:
Implement a BEX 7.0 design item u201Cbuttonu201D
Click on the button to implement the properties
Make the input for the commands
data_provider = dataprovider_1
cmd = process_variables
subcmd = var_submit
No comes the part with the variables u2013 Letu2019s assume a query has 4 variables but you only want to change 1 with the button u2013 an organizational unit for instance.
Make a range somewhere in the excel with the following structure:
Name    Index   Value
VAR_NAME_1      1       Variablename
VAR_VALUE_EXT_1 1       variablevalue
Value should contain the name of your variable of course and u201Cvalueu201D the value of your variable
Set a name for this range with EXCEL functionality but without the header:
Back to the properties of the button: Insert the name of the range with the variables in the field Command Range:
If you have more variables to process you can of course enhance your Filterrange!
In the left upper Corner you have a name for your button:
Now you can raise the button-click in vba like this:

How to maintain pageFlowScope value across 2 japx??

Hi All,
How to maintain pageFlowScope values across the pages.
In my application I got 2 jspx pages where the 1st page (result page) have two page fragments and no fragments in the 2nd page (Master Details page).
I am triggering the 2nd jspx while clicking the continue button from the 1st jspx's 2nd fragment. I am using Java webservice DataControl in the model layer and both the pages sharing the same WS DC results. In the 2nd fragment I am displaying the user search result. While hitting the continue button I am collecting the selected userID and then triggering the 2nd jspx by passing the that userId thru pageFlowScope, which used to call the WS method once again.
PageFlowScope losing the context while navigating to 2nd page. It is returning null value. If I remove 2nd page and create the new fragment in the first page itself then the master details is working well.
Please help me how do I pass the pageFlowScope value from one page to other page without losing the value. I am using faces-config.xml for page navigation.
Continue button Action method:

I am not opening any new window for the 2nd jspx. Trying to open the 2nd jspx in the same window.
I did the same as you mentioned.
1) create first page idm.jspx
2) create 1st page fragment search.jsff (Manually create the input fields...didnt drag and drop the WS DC input).
3) create 2nd page fragment searchResult.jsff (drag and drop the WS DC result and setting #{pageFlowScope.netid} as value)
4) create search-task-flow and attaching these 2 frag in it.
5) Drag and drop the search-task-flow in to first page IDM as region.
6) Creating 2nd page MasterDetails.jspx (Drag and drop the same WS DC result)
7) Creating faces-config.xml where I drag and drop both the jspx and setting the navigation rule.
(If continue from IDM.jspx then go to------>masterDetails.jspx)
Here the String continue is return by the 1st page--2nd fragment continue button action method...
This is what I am doing exactly....Any idea please why am I missing the pageFlowScope value!!!

How to call an encrypted webservice in BPEL process?

If i need to call a J2EE webservice which need to authenticate,like need to provide the username and password,or need to provide the signature,how can i discribe it in a BPEL process? Is there any article addressing this problem?

OWSM can mange both ways. You have the option of using the gateway or using the OWSM gateway. The gateway is easier to configure but data is decrypted between the gateway and the SOA Suite / BPEL so depending on your use case and security you may need to use agents.

I am new to BPEL . I have created programs which takes single input and after processing displays single output. I want to give more than one input at run time (for ex. employee name,age, salary ) and want to display Multiple output after processing them Instead of Just one that I am doing currently. How I can do that using Synchronous BPEL process . Can some one tell that What will be learning time for BPEL using google and forums, for a 3 year exeperienced person in JAVA and new to BPEL.

Retaining Variable Value for Scenario Restart

I have a slave-package where i use many variables for JDBC connection/url/login/passwd and Target File Path - all have been defined as type HISTORIZE
My packages are as follows
(1) There are many odiSqlUnload steps in the slave-package which uses the connection information & file path from the variables which have been declared in it.
(2) I just have declare variable steps in the slave-package, and have created a master-package which calls this slave-package's scenario using the command[i] "odiStartScen -GLOBAL.var_name=<var_value>"
so that all variables get their values from the master-package's call with variable values sent thru it
(3) Now, the problem occurs when I have to re-start my slave-package's scenario. Say for eg, the first step in my slave-package works fine, but errors out on the next step;
But when I re-start it for the next step, ODI doesn't seem to pick up values from the variables even though they are of type HISTORIZE, and I get an error with empty values for JDBC, URL & file path which I had specified as variables.
Why is it that the variables are not able to retain their values.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

finally I get it. I have to use #varname instead of :varname, otherwise it won't get error but just cannot get value. and I find out this #varname cannot be defined anywhere, otherwise the value will get lost also.

How to put Variable value into Labeltext of a subcomponent WIB

In our Web Based Planning tool we uses Tabstrib_control component and the Label-Text is filled like 'Plan 2008'. (Our BPS = 3.5 and Web interface builder)
I am looking for a way,how to put a variable into the Label field of the component. I am not sure if there is a possibility to enhance the labelfield with variable values.

Maybe I have a solution for your problem.
1. Create subcomponent "Selector variable" with your variable.
2. Hide this new subcomponent
3. Write in the Label-Text: <%=descr("Name of new subcomponent"/value)%>
If the variable will be selected by the user in the web interface, put the name of this selector in the field "Update upon Change of" in the properties of the new created subcomponent.

i want to know how can i change the variable values of report in broadcasting dynamically.
becuase i dont want to schedule report again and again after changing the variable values.

i did the same but its not working.
i create one variant for the query ABC using RSRT now if i look into table RSRVARIANT we can see that variant
entry in this table. Now i create variant by bex on this query with the same name.
now i schedule it using broadcasting but its not takeing the values of RSRVARIANT table.
Its taking the value of variant which i save in bex.
By default variant which is save in bex not appear in RSRVARIANT table.
But i f you make a variant in RSRT you can see those entries in Table RSRVARIANT.
But RSRT variant is not showing in Broadcast scheduling. Only Bex variant are showing.
Where should create the variant in Workbook, in Bex web analyzer, or in RSRT.
