How to retrieve sessions variables in JSP

hi,
I am trying to retrieve session variable from servlet to JSP.
In the servlet i am retrieving employeenames from database and storing them in a ArrayList variable then i am setting this variable into the session.
When retrieving the session in the jsp it displays as [empname1, empname2].
Please help how to retrieve them

At the servlet:
ArrayList<String> employeeNames = new ArrayList<String>();
employeenames.add(blahBlahblah);
session.setAttribute("eNames", employeeNames);
At the JSP:
ArrayList<String> names = (ArrayList<String>) session.getAttribute("eNames");
for (String nom : names) {
do something with the name stored in String variable nom...
}

Issue:
When I run the URL above with parameter EXPIRED, the report still shows for ACTIVE only. The URL is not making any difference with report.
Report is picking the default value from RPD session variable init query.

hi rachna,
JSP has a default(implicit) session object...... use the getSession(true) method on the session object and then going u can either get or set attributes depending on the requirement
That was in general and now with the issue u have got..... what u can do is that the u can create session for every user who logs in and when he/she tries to login again then u can probably check for the existing session object in the JSP and perform the logic as required..... any clarifications plzzzzzzz let me know

No i manage the language of WebDynpro myself, with tables from R3.
I wanna do only a thing like HTTP SESSION variable from the WEB.
I could do it, using java function of servlet, but i don't wanna use third packege out of WebDynpro FRAMEWORK.
The isn't an OBJECT CLASS STANDARD od WebDynpro that do that?
I wanna PERMANENT variable from a WebDynpro to another.
It is an implicit variable passage.

How to use Session scope in jsp page

Hello, I have login form, where user provides username and password. Then click on submit, it will forward to validation.jsp. Where it will check in database make sure username and password exit. Now i can also retrive accountid of perticular user. I want to put that username and accountid in session scope. so all other pages can use that username and accountid. How can i do that. How to retrieve resource name in JSP page

I have the following scenario:
User wants a new resource to be provisioned to himself, he makes standard steps; chooses one resource from the list of available resources and sends a request. After that a summary page is displayed - my goal is to create an url to external application on that summary page (i.e. tjspRequestSubmitTiles.jsp) that should be displayed depending on the name of the resource, e.g. if user requests for a ResourceA - link appears, but when he requests for a ResourceB - link does not appear.
So far I have created a link with a sample if statement - it works.
My problem is how to make a real condition - retrieve the resource name that request deals with. Anybody know how to do that, which API to use etc.?

After adding the code to tjspProvideDataShowInfoTiles.jsp file, nothing has been improved, I am still facing the same result (on the console):
RO: null
It seems that file (tjspProvideDataShowInfoTiles.jsp) does not take part in the process.
I have tried to pass some sample session attribute in tjspRequestVerificationTiles.jsp and this works, but I do not know how to retrieve resourceName in this file.
I was trying to make some code retrieving resourceName in tjspRequestSubmitTiles.jsp, e.g.
tcRequestWizardForm tcReqWizForm = (tcRequestWizardForm)session.getAttribute(requestWizardForm);
String requestID = tcreqWizForm.getRequestID();
...and what to do now to retrieve resourceName?

if getAttribute return null so there is no such session attribute,anyway
          check your browser if cookies are enabled.

I get an error retrieving a session variable from inside a JSP declaration scriptlet....
Something like this code in a JSP page:

%>I have seen that I have available getContextServer() method and from there I could call getAttribute("parameter1") . But the thing is that the attribute I want to retrieve was stored in session by another Jsp page.
Any solutions are welcome

Appropriately the above is one the reasons also You cannot use JSP implicit objects from the declaration tag. However we can think of a small workaround by passing the reference like the one discussed below
<%!public void funtion1(HttpSession session) {

If you can ask any more questions, could you do it on EE (if possible!!). I know this works because I've tested it.

i want to check which table header (that is <th> in html )is clicked and based on that a jsp funtion do a query in database and should show records in sorted way according to which column head is clicked.
Table is created in html.
