How to return 4 variables by one return statement

Hello Experts
I’m trying to develop & run a function which will collect data from 2 difference tables. I accomplished it and stores all the information which I need in 4 variables. Now as we all know that function must has to return but I don’t know how to return all these 4 variable using 1 return. Can please somebody show me how I can return 4 variables.
For reference here is my code
create or replace function TOT_PURCH_SF (id_shopper in bb_basket.idshopper%type)
return VARCHAR2
as
cursor cur_bb_basket is
select idshopper, total
from bb_basket;
cursor cur_bb_shopper is
select firstname, lastname
from bb_shopper
where idshopper = id_shopper;
v_idshopper VARCHAR2(4);
v_total bb_basket.total%type;
v_gtotal bb_basket.total%type := 0;
v_fname bb_shopper.firstname%type;
v_lname bb_shopper.lastname%type;
v_result VARCHAR2(200);
begin
if not (cur_bb_basket%isopen) then
open cur_bb_basket;
end if;
loop
fetch cur_bb_basket into v_idshopper, v_total;
if (v_idshopper = id_shopper) then
v_gtotal := v_gtotal + v_total;
dbms_output.put_line('Shopper Info: '|| v_idshopper ||', '|| v_total);
--exit;
end if;
exit when cur_bb_basket%NOTFOUND;
end loop;
-- dbms_output.put_line('Shopper ID:'|| v_idshopper || ', TOTAL:' || v_gtotal);
close cur_bb_basket;
open cur_bb_shopper;
fetch cur_bb_shopper into v_fname, v_lname;
close cur_bb_shopper;
dbms_output.put_line('Shopper ID:'|| v_idshopper || ', TOTAL:' || v_gtotal);
dbms_output.put_line('FIRST NAME: '|| v_fname ||' LAST NAME: '|| v_lname);
-- return (dbms_output.put_line('Shopper ID:'|| v_idshopper || ', TOTAL:' || v_gtotal));
return 'test';
end;
Thanks a lot in advance

Hi,
If you want more than one variable returned by something, used a procedure with this variables declared as output variables. You only need to declare the procedure and keep the internal logic (with minimal changes).
Your code modified (please remove dead code):
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE TOT_PURCH_SF(id_shopper IN bb_basket.idshopper%TYPE,
p_idshopper OUT VARCHAR2,
p_gtotal    OUT bb_basket.total%TYPE,
p_fname     OUT bb_shopper.firstname%TYPE,
p_lname     OUT bb_shopper.lastname%TYPE) AS
CURSOR cur_bb_basket IS
SELECT idshopper,
total
FROM bb_basket;
CURSOR cur_bb_shopper IS

IF (v_idshopper = id_shopper) THEN
v_gtotal := v_gtotal + v_total;
dbms_output.put_line('Shopper Info: ' || v_idshopper || ', ' || v_total);
--exit;
END IF;
EXIT WHEN cur_bb_basket%NOTFOUND;
END LOOP;
-- dbms_output.put_line('Shopper ID:'|| v_idshopper || ', TOTAL:' || v_gtotal);
CLOSE cur_bb_basket;
OPEN cur_bb_shopper;
FETCH cur_bb_shopper
INTO v_fname, v_lname;
CLOSE cur_bb_shopper;
--dbms_output.put_line('Shopper ID:' || v_idshopper || ', TOTAL:' || v_gtotal);

• How to pass a variable from one class to another class?

Hi,
Is it possible to pass a variable from one class to another? For e.g., I need the value of int a for calculation purpose in method doB() but I get an error <identifier> expected. What does the error mean? I know, it's a very, very simple question but once I learn this, I promise to remember it forever. Thank you.
class A {
int a;
int doA() {
a = a + 1;
return a;
class B {
int b;
A r = new A();
r.a; // error: <identifier> expected. What does that mean ?
int doB() {
int c = b/a;  // error: operator / cannot be applied to a
}Thank you!

elaine_g wrote:

class B {

A r = new A();
r.a;  //syntax error
}Why? Class definition restricts what you can define within a class to a few things:
class X {
Y y = new Y(); //defining a field -- okay
public X() { //defining a constructor -- okay
void f() { //defining a method -- okay
}... and a few other things, but you can't just write "r.a" there. It also makes no sense -- that expression by itself just accesses a field and does nothing with it -- why bother?
This is also illegal syntax:
int doB() {
A r = new A();
r.a;  // error: not a statement
}Again, all "r.a" does on its own is access a field and do nothing with it -- a "noop". Since it has no effect, writing this indicates confusion on the part of the coder, so it classified as a syntax error. There is no reason to write that.

• How can I pass variables from one project to another using Javascript?

Hi all, I am trying to do this: let learners take one course and finish a quiz. Then based on their quiz scores, they will be sent to other differenct courses.
However, I wish keep track on their previous quiz scores as well as many other variables.
I found this nice widge of upload/download variables by CPguru (http://www.cpguru.com/2011/05/18/save-and-load-data-widget-for-adobe-captivate-4-and-adobe -captivate-5/). However, this widget works by storing variables from one project in local computer and then upload it to another project.
My targeted learners may not always use the same computer though, so using this widget seems not work.
All these courses resided in a local-made LMS which I don't have access to their code. Therefore, passing variables to PHP html files seems not work.
Based on my limited programing knowledge, I assume that using Javascript to pass variables may be the only possible way.
Can someone instruct me how to do this?
Thank you very much.

If you create two MIDlet in a midlet suite, it will display as you mentioned means you can't change the display style.

• How to use presentaion variable in the SQL statement

Is there any special syntax to use a presentation variable in the SQL Statement?
I am setting a presentation variable (Fscl_Qtr_Var)in the dashboard prompt.
If i set the filter as ADD->VARIABLE->PRESENTATION, it shows the statement as 'Contract Request Fiscal Quarter is equal to / is in @{Fscl_Qtr_Var} '.
And this works fine but when i convert this to SQL, it returns
"Contract Request Date"."Contract Request Fiscal Quarter" = 'Fscl_Qtr_Var'
And this does not work.It is not being set to the value in the prompt.
I need to combine this condition with other conditions in the SQL Statement. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Try this: '@{Fscl_Qtr_Var}'

• How to use bind variable in this select statement

Hi,
I have created this procedure where table name and fieldname is variable as they vary, therefore i passed them as parameter. This procedure will trim leading (.) if first five char is '.THE''. The procedure performs the required task. I want to make select statement with bind variable is there any possibility to use a bind variable in this select statement.
the procedure is given below:
create or replace procedure test(tablename in varchar2, fieldname IN varchar2)
authid current_user
is
type poicurtype is ref cursor;
poi_cur poicurtype;

SQLST:=SQLST|| ' WHERE EMPNO=:X';
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(SQLST);
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE SQLST USING THEVALUE;
END LOOP;
COMMIT;
END TEST;
Best Regards,

So you want to amend each row individually? Is there some reason you're trying to make this procedure run as slow as possible?
create or replace procedure test (tablename in varchar2, fieldname in varchar2)
authid current_user
is
sqlst      varchar2 (250);
thevalue   number := 1234;
begin
sqlst := 'update ' || tablename || ' set ' || fieldname || '= ltrim(' || fieldname || ',''.'')  where substr(' || fieldname
|| ',1,5) = ''.THE ''';
dbms_output.put_line (sqlst);
execute immediate sqlst;
end test;will update every row that satisfies the criteria in a single statement. If there are 10 rows that start with '.THE ' then it will update 10 rows.

• ADF : How to pass a variable from one frame to another frame ?

Hi,
I have an html page divided into 3 frames, all inside a frameset. Each frame are linked to a specific .jsf page (src attribute). When I list a list thanks to a ADF datatable in ONE frame, each row has a "show more" button. When I click this button I succeeded to print row detail inside the same frame thanks to the processScope ADF's native variable. The problem is that I want to display the row detail in another frame, clicking from this current frame. So for this I need to reload the other frame which display the content of the processScope variable.
For this I use the javascript code :
=> parent.frames['bottomRight'].location.reload()
Just before refreshing, I put the variable in the processScope of course like it appears in the backing bean :
FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
CLPRMBuilding building = (CLPRMBuilding)
context.getApplication().getVariableResolver().resolveVariable(context, "building");
if (building == null)
return "error";
AdfFacesContext afContext = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
afContext.getProcessScope().put("buildingDetail", building);
Next, when the user click on the button "show more" a binding CoreCommandButton component is done. And the accessor's code is executed :
public void setShowMoreCommandButton(CoreCommandButton showMoreCommandButton) {
this.showMoreCommandButton = showMoreCommandButton;
showMoreCommandButton.setOnclick("parent.frames['bottomRight'].location.reload()");
And so the other frame is reloaded ! But the "buildingDetail" variable seems not to be present in the processScope because in the jsf page displayed by the other frame no content is printed, like if the variable were not initialized. How to do then ? How to pass the buildingDetail variable to the other frame which I need to reload to refresh it's content ?

• How to return statement

Hi Friends
I want to insert values in a Table and I want one of the value as a return output, like this:
INSERT INTO Employees (EmpID, Name, Designation)
VALUES (111, 'Sam', 'Manager')
RETURN EmpID
When I execute the statement, one row should be inserted into Employee Table and should return EmpID of that particular row, i.e: 111. How to write a sql statement for this.

Doh, I guessed you pointed to the docs (for example: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e25519/returninginto_clause.htm#LNPLS01354)
in your post and didn't bother to check, sorry about that ;)

• How to send a variable from one class to another?

hello,
i have "One.as", which is the document class for one.swf.
i also have "two.swf", with "Two.swf" entered as its document
class...
One loads two into it. two is basically a 10 frame movieClip
with a variable at the beginning called "var endFrame:Boolean =
false", then on the last frame it says endFrame = true.
my question: how in the world do I communicate this back to
One.as??? i've tried ENTER_FRAME listeners, declaring the variable
here and there... and many other embarrassingly usuccessful
strategies.
i would just like to load in "three.swf" after two.swf
finishes... but One needs to know that it has indeed finished.

> David,
> thank you for responding.
Sure thing! :)
> so does what you are saying mean that endFrame is a
property of
> two (the movieClip), or Two (the Class)?
If you've written a property named endFrame for your Two
class, then
yes, Two.endFrame is a property of that class.
Looking back at your original post, I see that you wrote
this:
> One loads two into it. two is basically a 10 frame
movieClip
> with a variable at the beginning called "var
endFrame:Boolean = false",
> then on the last frame it says endFrame = true.
So it sounds like your Two class extends MovieClip. (I'm not
sure
that's true, but that's what it sounds like.) That means your
Two class
supports all the features of the MovieClip class, including a
play() method,
a currentFrame property, and so on. In addition, you've added
new
functionality that amounts to -- by the sound of it -- a
property named
endFrame. If you made your property public (i.e., public var
endFrame),
then it should be accessible by way of an object reference to
your Two
instance.
myTwoInstance.endFrame;
> so can i invoke that method in One.as? do I call it
Two.endFrame (if
> (Two.endFrame == true) {?
Methods are things an object can *do,* such as
gotoAndPlay(). What
you're describing is a property (a characteristic ... in this
case, a
Boolean characteristic). You wouldn't use the expression
Two.endFrame
unless that property was static. Static classes are those
that cannot have
an instance made of them. Think of the Math class. It
contains numerous
static properties in the form of constants, such as Math.PI,
Math.E,
Math.SQRT2, and so on. You can't create an instance of the
Math class -- it
wouldn't make sense to -- so Math is a static class.
On the other hand, you definitely create instances of the
MovieClip
class. Every movie clip symbol is an instance of MovieClip
class, which
means that each instance carries its own unique values for
MovieClip class
members. The MovieClip class defines x and y properties, but
each movie
clip symbol (that is, each instance of the MovieClip class)
configures its
own values of those properties, depending on where each
instance is located
on the Stage.
Assuming your Two class is not static, then somewhere along
the line,
your One class will have to make an instance of it. Somethine
like ...
// inside your One class ...
var myTwo:Two = new Two();
... at which point that myTwo variable because a reference to
that
particular instance of Two. You can invoke Two methods on
that instance.
You can invoke Two properties and events on that instance.
You can invoke
whatever functionality is defined by the Two class on that
myTwo instance.
If Two extends MovieClip, that means you can also invoke any
MovieClip class
member on that myTwo instance.
At some point in your One class, you can refer to that myTwo
instance
later and check if the value of myTwo.endFrame is true or
false.

• Simple Task - Syntax Question (how do you pass variables from one component to another component - databinding)?

Hi all,
I'm trying to pass some width/height/URLs from a Video Player component to a Social Bookmarking component's embed text input field. (for people to grab and share videos).
I know this is a simple task, but it's the end of the day and I seem to be having a brain failure... What's the syntax to achieve this? Do I have to import the video player component? These widths/heights/URLs are all being dynamically generated from an XML... should I be pulling it from the XML or just reuse the variables that already exist in the Video Player component?
Here's my code...
Video Player:
[Bindable]
public var source:String = "";
[Bindable]
public var autoPlay:Boolean = false;
[Bindable]
public var fullScreenMode:Boolean = false;
[Bindable]
public var clipTag:String = "_movie";
[Bindable]
public var iag_code:String = "";
[Bindable]
public var officialURL:String = "http://www.movies.com/";
[Bindable]
public var referer:String = "unknown";
[Bindable]
public var gID:String;
[Bindable]
public var starterImageURL:String = 'http://www.movies.com/jazzmaster/images/default_starter_image.
[Bindable]
public var oldWidth:Number;
[Bindable]
public var oldHeight:Number;
Sharing Component:
<mx:HBox
height="10%"
horizontalCenter="-25"
verticalCenter="0"
paddingBottom="5">
<mx:Text text="Embed Code:" paddingTop="1" color="#FFFFFF" fontSize="12"/>
<mx:TextInput  text="{oldWidth}"/>
</mx:HBox>
The code above throws an error... "Attempted access of inaccessible property oldWidth through a reference with a static type com:SharingBookmarks."
Thanks all!

Try this..
create a new flex project and add a folder called "src"
create a new MXML component named "VideoComp.mxml" and copy/paste

<mx:VBox xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" width="400" height="300">
<mx:Script>

[Bindable]
public var videoWidth:int = 300;
[Bindable]
public var videoHeight:int = 300;

</mx:Script>
<mx:Label text="Vidoe" />
<mx:TextInput text="{videoWidth}" id="w" change="this.videoWidth = int(w.text);" />
<mx:TextInput text="{videoHeight}" id="h" change="this.videoHeight = int(h.text);" />
</mx:VBox>
create a new MXML component named, "SharingComp.mxml" add copy/paste this..

<mx:VBox xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" width="400" height="300">
<mx:Script>

[Bindable]
public var videoWidth:int;
[Bindable]
public var videoHeight:int;

</mx:Script>
<mx:Label text="Sharing Comp." />
<mx:Label text="{videoWidth}" />
<mx:Label text="{videoHeight}" />
</mx:VBox>
and here is the main.mxml file

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
xmlns:src="src.*">
<mx:Script>

private function doSomething():void
sharingComp.videoHeight = videoComp.videoHeight;
sharingComp.videoWidth = videoComp.videoWidth;

</mx:Script>
<src:VideoComp id="videoComp" />
<mx:Button click="doSomething()" label="copy" />
<src:SharingComp id="sharingComp" />
</mx:Application>
Hope this helps,

• How to insert String variables in Execute Immediate Statement

Hi,
I have query
dept varchar2(10);
dept :='electronics'
l_dyn_sql_input600_cbs := 'select EmployeeName,AGE,' || dept ||' from Employee'
EXECUTE immediate l_dyn_sql_input600_cbs;
when i run the query it says "electonics" Invalid identifier.
Can anyone help to rectify the query

What are you actually trying to do here:
- Select employee name, age and the string literal 'electronics' from the employee table?
- Select employee name, age and the dept field from the employee table?
- Select employee name, age and dept from the employee table where dept = 'electronics'?
- Something else...?
Doesn't seem to make much sense as it is right now...
cheers,
Anthony

• Using Variables in a select statement through a Database Adapter

I was wondering how I reference a variable in a select statement through a Database Adapter.
Ex.
1. I have a global variable that stores an employee number
2. I want to select an SSN # from a table based on an employee #
variable.
select ssn from emp where ssn = :input_variable - ????
- how do i reference the variable - I am getting a 'missing IN or OUT parameter error?
Any advice is much appreciated.
~Thanks

I'm just wondering if anyone knows a work around so that I might be able to store a Table's FIELD name in a variable or an array[] so that I can do a query based on the decision of a loop without having to code 10 IF/ELSE statements.For instance, although the above code will not work, this code, although quite lengthy, does:
If DataGrid1.SelStartCol = 0 Then
Adodc1.RecordSource = "Select * from tblReservation order by RES__PUR_DT"
Adodc1.Refresh
ElseIf DataGrid1.SelStartCol = 1 Then
Adodc1.RecordSource = "Select * from tblReservation order by VENDOR"
Adodc1.Refresh
ElseIf DataGrid1.SelStartCol = 2 Then
Adodc1.RecordSource = "Select * from tblReservation order by VEN_LOC"
Adodc1.Refresh
ElseIf DataGrid1.SelStartCol = 3 Then
Adodc1.RecordSource = "Select * from tblReservation order by RES_TYPE"
Adodc1.Refresh
ElseIf DataGrid1.SelStartCol = 4 Then
Adodc1.RecordSource = "Select * from tblReservation order by RES_FROM_DT"
Adodc1.Refresh
ElseIf DataGrid1.SelStartCol = 5 Then
Adodc1.RecordSource = "Select * from tblReservation order by RES_TO_DT"
Adodc1.Refresh
ElseIf DataGrid1.SelStartCol = 6 Then
Adodc1.RecordSource = "Select * from tblReservation order by MISC_ADJ"
Adodc1.Refresh
ElseIf DataGrid1.SelStartCol = 7 Then
Adodc1.RecordSource = "Select * from tblReservation order by STATE_TAX"
Adodc1.Refresh
ElseIf DataGrid1.SelStartCol = 8 Then
Adodc1.RecordSource = "Select * from tblReservation order by LOC_CHARGE"
Adodc1.Refresh
ElseIf DataGrid1.SelStartCol = 9 Then
Adodc1.RecordSource = "Select * from tblReservation order by RES_ID"
Adodc1.Refresh
ElseIf DataGrid1.SelStartCol = 10 Then
Adodc1.RecordSource = "Select * from tblReservation order by RES_OP"
Adodc1.Refresh
End If
Do you see where i'm going with this?
I simple want to use a variable in the "select * from
Order by <Field>"
