How to reuse an existing Rule Composer DC from within a BPM DC

Hi,
We have several business process need to share same rule to determine the approver. We used separate BRM (ie Rule Composer DC) DC with decision table to contain the rule data. We want to reuse the rule dc from our process dc (BPM dc).
We do not want to embed the same rule/decisiontable  into each bpm dc. We do not want to use Web Service (via automatic activity) to call out the existing rule because it mix new activity into our BPMN. But I cannot find a way to use the existing rule via "expression/EJB/Mapping function".
Can anyone let me know the way to use external (existing) Rule dc ?
thanks

Stefan,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
Before my first post, I have did what exactly you mentioned on the DC dependency setting. However no luck to me.
All my works are currently for a test and are created in my local SC (WilsonComponent SC in my NWDS). Both the bpm (rule user) and brm (rule provider) DCs are in the same SC. In my bpm DC, explicit dependency is set to the brm dc, with def_comp (compilation) dependency at runtime, deploy time, and design time.
After the setting, I rebuild the bpm, reload the metadata, and lots of other trying. But I still cannot find a way to see the brm rules in the bpm dc project.
Is it only work for track-based SC (need to check-in to NWDI) ? or is there any other configuration (like lib referencing) need to be done ?
I do believe SAP provides reusability via the SC/DC dependency, but just can't make it work. If you did it before, let me know, then the question will turn out to be my own implementation issue.

  • How to deploy Oracel Business Rule (11 TP4) from within JDeveloper?

    Hello,
    I'm testing the Oracle Business Rules functionality provided in JDeveloper 11TP4.
    Development looks nice. I'd like to test the rules, wether it be from within a Java Class or as a Web Service.
    - How can I test the Business Rule 11G in Jdev TP4?
    - How can I deploy the Business Rules to an Application Server?

  • How to call Operating System commands / external programs from within APEX

    Hi,
    Can someone please suggest how to call Operating Systems commands / external programs from within APEX?
    E.g. say I need to run a SQL script on a particular database. SQL script, database name, userid & password everything is available in a table in Oracle. I want to build a utility in APEX where by when I click a button APEX should run the following
    c:\oracle\bin\sqlplusw.exe userud/password@database @script_name.sql
    Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Guys,
    I have reviewed the option of using scheduler and javascript and they do satisfy my requirements PARTIALLY. Any calls to operating system commands through these features will be made on the server where APEX is installed.
    However, here what I am looking at is to call operating systems programs on client machine. For example in my APEX application I have constructed the following strings of commands that needs to be run to execute a change request.
    sqlplusw.exe user/password@database @script1.sql
    sqlplusw.exe user/password@database @script2.sql
    sqlplusw.exe user/password@database @script3.sql
    sqlplusw.exe user/password@database @script4.sql
    What I want is to have a button/link on the APEX screen along with these lines so that when I click that link/button this entire line of command gets executed in the same way it would get executed if I copy and paste this command in the command window of windows.
    Believe me, if I am able to achieve what I intend to do, it is going to save a lot of our DBAs time and effort.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • How to redirect console output while starting server from within IDE

    Hello, i am using Weblogic Workshop IDE. When I start the server, a new cmd shell is launched and the jvm output is displayed in this cmd shell window. How can I redirect this output to show up within the IDE (for instance in the Console view)?
    Problem is that when an error occurs, the cmd window disappears and I cannot tell what the error was.
    Surely there is a way to do this as other IDEs (JBuilder, Rational etc.) allow this.
    Thanks:

    Hi Sam,
    Unfortunately, this feature does not exist in Workshop 9.2
    Regarding your question about redirecting the output, the logs are saved under the domain directory.
    You could also refer to the following section for additional info on redirecting the output to multiple destinations.

    Hi, can someone help me with the below?
    I'm trying to determine the value of the environment variable GWYUID from within a form so I can pass this value to the fnd_webfile.get_url function at runtime to display the output of a concurrent program in a web browser.
    I've tried the below but this just brings back null. Any ideas on how to find the value at runtime in 11i?

    Just add a tiny modify to check out the Batch_type
    doc_id = (select batch_id from gme_batch_header where batch_no='&batch_number' and batch_type = 0)
    Because the batch_no can be duplicated as we also create Batch and Filrm Planned Order.

  • How to enable JMS to be J2EE Compliant from within JVM

    I am wondering how I can use JMS in J2EE compliant mode from within the JVM via a Java stored procedure.
    I know that I can set a property (i.e. oracle.jms.j2eeCompliant="true") at execution time, but was wondering how I can make the entire JVM J2EE compliant.

    You cannot make the JVM J2EE compliant! However, you can use some J2EE APIs such as JMS, on top of J2SE.
    See a basic use of JMS in Java stored procedure

  • How to move an existing Application/Package Deployment from one collection to another

    We'd like to move an Application Deployment from one collection of devices to another. Instead of just creating a new deployment (which would make the app try to reinstall) we'd like to move the existing deployment.
    Any way to do this with PowerShell?

    Creating a new deployment won't make an app try to reinstall at all. That's the whole point of the Detection method.
    For packages, clients keep track of what they've run before so a new deployment won't cause it to run again unless the program is set for it to run again.
    Ultimately, you cannot change the collection targeted by a deployment as this violates a f underlying assumptions and messes up compliance/reporting for that deployment. You need to create a new deployment which as pointed out has no down-side.

  • How to run a program as an administrator from within a non-elevated command prompt?

    I have a project that is going to be running on a kiosk, and the user that is running the kiosk software is going to be restricted.  I have an alternate administrator account, but I cannot seem to figure out how to open my program running as this administrator
    user.  I have tried to use runas, like so:
    runas /user:admin kiosk.exe
    However, when I try to run this command, it asks me for the password of the administrator account and my program doesn't open correctly.  It fails to open at all.  If I change the run as to a start command, then the program executes fine so its
    not a problem with my software.
    Is there a way to pass a password parameter to runas so that it will not prompt for the password every time?  If there is not, can someone think of another way for me to elevate my process to administrator without being logged in as one through the
    command prompt?

    Hi KevinGEAR,
    You want to allow the others without the administrator`s level to run this software and  meanwhile the administrator is not logged in, right?
    Here is an alternative solution :
    1.To work with this solution, a built-in administrator account should be enabled and meanwhile you can create a standard account. The built-in administrator account is different from the administrator account you created.
    To enable built-in administrator account:

    2. Use the following code
    runas /user:ComputerName\Administrator /savecred "Full path to program's exe file"

  • How to reach a method of an object from within another class

    I am stuck in a situation with my program. The current situation is as follows:
    1- There is a class in which I draw images. This class is an extension of JPanel
    2- And there is a main class (the one that has main method) which is an extension of JFrame
    3- In the main class a create an instance(object) of StatusBar class and add it to the main class
    4- I also add to the main class an instance of image drawing class I mentioned in item 1 above.
    5- In the image drawing class i define mousemove method and as the mouse
    moves over the image, i want to display some info on the status bar
    6- How can do it?
    7- Thanks!

    It would make sense that the panel not be forced to understand its context (in this case a JFrame, but perhaps an applet or something else later on) but offer a means of tracking.
    class DrawingPanel extends JPanel {
      HashSet listeners = new HashSet();
      public void addDrawingListener(DrawingListener l) {
         listeners.add(l);
      protected void fireMouseMove(MouseEvent me) {
         Iterator i = listeners.iterator();
         while (i.hasNext()) {
            ((DrawingListener) i.next()).mouseMoved(me.getX(),me.getY());
    class Main implements DrawingListener {
      JFrame frame;
      JLabel status;
      DrawingPanel panel;
      private void init() {
         panel.addDrawingListener(this);
      public void mouseMoved(int x,int y) {
         status.setText("x : " + x + " y: " + y);
    public interface DrawingListener {
      void mouseMoved(int x,int y);
    }Of course you could always just have the Main class add a MouseMotionListener to the DrawingPanel, but if the DrawingPanel has a scale or gets embedded in a scroll pane and there is some virtual coordinate transformation (not using screen coordinates) then the Main class would have to know about how to do the transformation. This way, the DrawingPanel can encapsulate that knowledge and the Main class simply provides a means to listen to the DrawingPanel. By using a DrawingListener, you could add other methods as well (versus using only a MouseMotionListener).
    Obviously, lots of code is missing above. In general, its not a good idea to extend JFrame unless you really are changing the JFrames behavior by overrding methods, etc. Extending JPanel is okay, as you are presumably modifiying the drawing code, but you'd be better off extending JComponent.

  • How do I run a Midi Light show from within Logic Pro?

    Hello,
    I'm trying to figure out how to run a midi light show along side or within logic pro. I currently run .wav synth files through logic into an Onyx Satellite into the PA system, I want to run a lights show that fits perfectly with each part of the songs running on logic pro. I need tips on everything: hardware, what intelligent lights I need, how to best program and set this up.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Message was edited by: Host <to clarify Subject>

    Hi
    I use the NSI MC1616 midi controller. with it you can control 16 separate banks of lights and store 16 scenes. the unit uses midi program change messages for each scene and CC #1 info for fade rate. Since the MC1616 sends the program info midi out, I use it to send the commands to logic in real time, playing along with the song, pressing the scene buttons, to program the lighting cues.
    Hope this helps

  • How do I call a LabVIEW created DLL from within Microsoft Excel (VBA)?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to get Microsoft Excel 2003 to call a function stored in a dll that I created using LabVIEW 7.1.  The function is very simple and is called "binary_file_to_ascii".  Basically it just reads a LabVIEW created binary spreadsheet file and outputs the columns as float arrays.
    The function arguments are as follows:
    INPUT : String that contains the path to the binary spreadsheet file
    OUTPUT : Number of rows in the spreadsheet
    OUTPUT : Number of columns in the spreadsheet
    OUTPUT : Float array containing the elements in column 1
    OUTPUT : Float array containing the elements in column 2..
    OUTPUT : Float array containing the elements in column 11
    However, for some reason there is something wrong with my VBA code and/or the way I created the DLL in LabVIEW because Excel crashes when it loads my DLL.
    What do I need to change in my VBA code or my LabVIEW DLL build settings to fix this?
    I've attached to this post a ZIP file that contains all my code and a sample binary file.
    Your help with this will be much appreciated.  Thanks!
    Richard
    P.S.  Here is the VBA code I'm using:
    Private Declare Function binary_file_to_ascii Lib "C:\temp\binary_file_to_ascii\binary_to_ascii.dll" _
    (ByVal binaryFile As String, ByVal nrows As Long, ByVal ncols As Long, ByVal column1 As Variant, _
    ByVal column2 As Variant, ByVal column3 As Variant, _

    Hi,
    I don't know anything about Visual Basic, but here's my guess.
    When you load the DLL with this line of code
    Private Declare Function binary_file_to_ascii Lib "C:\temp\binary_file_to_ascii\binary_to_ascii.dll" _
    (ByVal binaryFile As String, ByVal nrows As Long, ByVal ncols As Long, ByVal column1 As Variant, _
    You are defining how the parameters are sent. It seems that all are sent by value (ByVal), but in the DLL header, some of the function's
    parameters are defined as pointers(see the function prototype below, look for asterisk(*))
    void __stdcall binary_file_to_ascii(PStr binaryFile,
                                                    long *numberOfRows,
                                                    long *numberOfColumns,
                                                    float column1[],
                                                    float column2[],
                                                    float column3[],
                                                    float column4[],
                                                    float column5[],
                                                    float column6[],
                                                    float column7[],
                                                    float column8[],
                                                    float column9[],
                                                    float column10[],
                                                    float column11[]);
    Can you define in VBA that you want to use pointer instead? Maybe by using ByRef (as by reference).
    Hope this helps.

  • HOW DO I REASSIGN A PACKAGE VARIABLE VALUE FROM WITHIN JAVA BEANSHELL PROC

    Hi all
    I am trying to something that I would consider quite normal in programming applications.
    create a variable - systemId
    create a procedure that runs some code (Java BeanShell), and then sets the varable to a value depending on that code
    create a second procdure that runs some code(Java BeanShell), but uses the value of the variable set from the previous stage
    In the package editor I have created a declare variable step, two procedures, and a flow: declare variable -> procedure 1 -> procedure 2
    If I declare the variable with a vue of 10 initially then try #systemId = 400, I get an error along the lines of '10 = 400'
    I am probably doing something basically wrong
    regards
    Terry

    My friend it depends on you. What ever you mentioned that can be achieved in package level but in procedure level.
    For example:
    Odi procedure: Java beanshell techonlogy
    <@
    String empname="ALEX";
    @>
    odivariable1: refresh mode in package
    select sal from emp where empname='<@=empname@>'
    Package diagram:
    ODIprocedure------ok--->ODIvariable inrefreshmode
    if you will execute this then the odivariable will have value 2000( alex salary)
    Till now it was easy to achieve. But tell me how to assign the alex salary inside the 1st procedure without taking the help of a package. You just have to execute only the procedure.Hmmm nail on your head ? you might be thinking of something like this #odivariable=<@=empname@> which is not correct.
    In this scenario you have update the snp_var_data table. So that the underlying value can be updated. Another approach could be to generate a scenario of the odi variable given above and invoke the scenario inside the procedure(this way you can refrsh it without using a package)
    Ok my friend. Seems to be a long explanation.
    Let me know if it is helpful or not.

  • How can I forward to an external URL from within a DataAction?

    This is a very simple question I'd guess -- but what I thought was the obvious answer turned out not to be. Keep in mind I am using struts, and the URL is constructed dynamically, so I cannot place a struts forward action in the struts-config.xml file. Here is what I tried from within my DataAction's prepareModel() method:
    actionContext.setActionForward(newURL);
    actionContext.setRedirect(true);
    This didn't work -- nothing happened. Anyone have any ideas?
    Brad

    In our application, we had a forward named Cancel, but for it to work properly we wanted a Redirect to occur to another page. The redirect was not working until we created a new actionforward and set th action forward to it as seen below. You can't programmatically change the forwards at runtime without error, from what I remember.
    DataActionMapping mapping = ctx.getActionMapping();
    ActionForward af = mapping.findForward("Cancel");
    ActionForward afNew = new ActionForward();
    afNew.setPath(ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getSession().getServletContext().getInitParameter("rootURL") + af.getPath());
    afNew.setRedirect(true);
    ctx.setActionForward(afNew);
