How to run a stepper motor for an amount of time determined by a feedback?

Hi,
I'm using labview 8.6 and I'm trying to use a ORIEL sterppermike with a 20025 controller.
I have implemented a VI that has a stack of commands in a for loop. Every loop has the following sequence of commands:
command 1) start the stepper
command 2) wait for feedback to reach a certain number
command 3) stop the stepper
command 4) wait a certain time before starting again
To start the stepper I use a subvi from the example folder:
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\examples\DAQmx\Counter\generate pulse.llb
--> Gen Dig Pulse Train-Continuous.vi
I don't understand why the sequence get stuck at command 1 and never gets to command 2.
I attach the vi for completeness.

I have a stepper motor with the Vector Network Analyzer Anritsu MS4623B. I got it up and running with the LabWindows/CVI. I need to sync the motion of the stepper motor with my data acquisition. Basically, I have to acquire the data in a way that in the start the motor will come back to home position wherever it was and then I want to move it to the specific position to do the measurements (For Example, I want to measure the 40 GHz channel between 1m to 3m movement of a stepper motor on a linear positioning system (ball-screw)). I've interfaced the VNA with the PC using LabWindows/CVI and I've controlled the clockwise and anti-clockwise movements of the stepper motor using LabWindows/CVI but I'm unable to sync the system in a way that whenever I run the code, the motor will run back to the home position and then move to a specific measurement start position and move till the end position and in between do the increment and stop and acquire the data. Is there any one to help me please? It's really urgent please and I'm doing this thing first time so please guide me in a proper way. I shall really apprecaite that and will be highly obliged with you. Thanks for your time and concern.

Robotics-Running two stepper motors

Hi
I am working with LIFA (labview interface for arduino) to run two stepper motors to create a special (simple) path on XY plane. The example code (Arduino Stepper Motor.vi) works fine with one motor, but I don't know how I can modify it so that two motors can move with one time pushing the button, one after another while taking turns. Any Ideas?
The motion plan is as follows: 1. Motor 2 is stationary and motor 1 moves the load for 100 steps in X direction, then it stops and motor 2 starts to move the load for 70 steps in Y direction.
2. The same as 1, only the direction of motor 1 motion is reversed, and motor 2 moves 85 steps instead of 70 in the same direction.
3. Repetition of 1 and 2 for 4 times with different number of steps at each level.
I have twe big easy drivers, and one Arduino Uno.

You could create a state machine.
You could create a movement recipe where you enter in each sequential movement, and the code steps through the recipe one movement at a time.
You could create some combination of 1 and 2.
How do you want it to work? Are these steps going to remain constant, or do you want to be able to change them from one run to the next? How much do you know about LV? Have you any code that you wrote? What is the long term goal -- are you building towards something specific or just learning for the sake of learning?

Running 2 stepper motors with LabVIEW using RMV ST400-NT controller and driver

Hello, I am new to programming as well as motors in general so please bare with me in my attempt to explain myself. I have a project involving laser therapy and I am attempting to control two stepper motors from Falhauber, Type AM2224-R3-AV-4.8. I will be using a RMV ST400-NT controller and driver. Original plan was to use 3 stepper motors for control in 3 axis but realized 2 axis is complicated enough. My power source is an Agilent E3630A. I am new to this whole thing and from what I have read form examples and other posts is that NI drivers seem to work best for these applications. I've written simple programs from examples, reading and watching videos. I want to know whether it's possible for these to work together using LabVIEW and also a nudge to help me get started would be much appreciated. Can someone please help guide me in the right direction, I feel a bit lost when it comes to all this. Thank you for your time and consideration. Also, I will be using Windows 8 laptop with Labview 8.5. I have attached pics of components I will be using.

I want to preface this response by saying that I am mre familiar with NI controller and driver rather than the one that you have. I am assuming that you are using the dll provided by the manufacturer here:

With these, you should be able to interface with LabVIEW using the call library function node. What the controller is capable I am uncertain of. I am certain that you should be able to since another user has commented on the use in LabVIEW before in another forum post.
I also want to let you know that LabVIEW 8.5 is not supported on Windows 8, which means that you may run into some compatibility issues. Here is the compatibility chart.

Ok u may not require a coding
But u req configuration
U should first make a search option set

Then u need 2 duplicate a KM Command by the name Search From here
and customize it to include the Search Option that u have created

Writing a file for prescribed amount of time in a while loop after the triggering condition is met

Hello Guys,
I am trying to program an application in which if the trigger condition is met it should start to write the file.
I was able to do that, but if I want it to be written for certain amount of time, and once the trigger condition is met, it should continue to write the files for prescribed amount of time. I was not able to do this. The file name should also be updated accordingly.
I tried to with some options by keeping the creation of the file outside of the loop, if I do that then if the trigger condition is not met it will stop writing and I dont want that, as once the trigger condition is met it should be true thereafter.
So I cant keep any thing outside the while loop, bcaz then it checks the condition of the shift register for the trigger and I have it as a false constant.
I am attaching my application which is kind of mess and I have written in the application where I am having problems. For every iteration of while loop it makes a new file, and i dont want that, I want to write specific amount of time data to the each file.
Please take a look at my code and help me in solving the problem. Any insights and examples on how to do this thing will be a relief to me.

what i am saying is to keep track of how much data you have written and whenever you need to make a new file you make 1.

Playing jpeg pictures for different amount of time

hello everyone.

this program displays each image for 1 second each.
now my problem is, i want to display these pictures for different amount of time... for example: display pic1 for 1 second, then display pic2 for 3 sec and so on.

Lines broken for clarity. Instead have command all in one line.
This simply repeats the second frame, three times. The .MOV format might 'optimize away' the second and third frame from the final file, but I would not count on it.
Of course, a far better way to animate images (with transition effects, full control over time, and all the bells and whistles) is to load the images into memory and create the slide show using the Java 2D abilities, mostly found in the Graphics class.

Wait for undefined amount of time

Hello All,
I have a requirement, where in I would want my activity in the workflow to wait for an indefinite amount of time. Then when a certain activity occurs, I would like to complete the 'waiting' activity.
So lets say I have the following process with 2 activities(A and B)
----------> A ----------> B(wait for undefined amount of time)------------->End
B needs to wait for some time, which I do not know.
Then when another event( PL/SQL activity) occurs, I need the event to trigger of the waiting activity B, to completion.
How can I acheive this?

Lets say I have the following:

B is the activity which needs to wait. It has a PL/SQL function assciated with it.Lets say I have a result type of YES/NO associated with activity B. As soon as the workflow engine encounters activity B, it will execute the function associated with it. Lets the function ends with a result_out => YES, then immediatly C will be executed.
So setting a result type will not help. I need to wait at step 'B'

Is there a way to create a custom screensaver with pics/slides that display for different amounts of time? Or even add a "video slide" into the screensaver?
My business has 3 TVs displayed in our lobby, each with its own apple TV and they are all linked to the same photo stream. Currently the Atv screensaver displays the photostream pictures of our products for the default 3 seconds. We just added pics/slides that now display messages and useful info for our customers but I want that info to be displayed for a longer period of time than the pictures to give people a chance to read it.
I tried using flickr and powerpoint as a work around but no luck. I created a slide in powerpoint with play length of 15 secs and saved it as a wmv file. I added that file to a "screensaver" set in flickr and pointed the Atv screensaver to that flickr set. It still displays everything, pics and the wmv file at the default 3 sec.
I know I can increase the duration of all pics in the screensaver to display for longer but the goal is to have the pics display at 3 secs and the info slides to display at 15 secs.

actually I don't know in which context you want to use your existing hardware for your stepper motor.
1. The hardware, which you describe, is/was used for which application? ( data acquisition, controlling a system, etc)?
2. Did you buy the hardware especially for the motor application?
3. You don't know how which signals are required for your stepper motor.

How to run a silent configuration for Forms and Reports 11g ?

I've run a silent installation for Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 in Windows 7 64 bit.
I made it using a response file called install_only.rsp. Now I want to run the configuration also in silent mode.
How can I do it ?
I know that I can use a template called configure_only.rsp. However, i don't know what is the correct syntax for the command to start configuration.
Should I use the same setup.exe installer and inform configure_only.rsp as response file ?
The command below is the appropriate command for this task:
setup.exe -silent -response configure_only.rsp
Or is there another way to be followed?

Alright, I eventually found the answer.
Configuration must be run from directory on windows.
Command is shown below:
<FORMS_HOME>/bin/config.bat -silent -response <path-to-response-file>

Stepper motors (for syringe control)

I'm looking for steppers motors with LV interface for contol of 60-100 ml
syringes .
The load capaticty would have to be around 35 lb or 17 kg. The length of
stroke would have to be up to 5-10 centimeters.
Any pointers to suitble motors are greatly appriecited.

You should be able to include both modules when building your ear file. Then both the module's war files will be created in the ear file. Access both the applications with their respective /PioneerCycling or /motorprise ( look for context root in application.xml)
If you want to run each application on different server, then
1. create 1 individual instances of jboss server for pioneer and another for motorprise
2. create additional dynamo server using command makeDynamoServer.bat motorprise 8861 8851
3. deploy each one on respective server folders in jboss
Use the appropriate ports to access ( say for ex:)
localhost:8860/pioneer
or
localhost:8861/motorprise

How to keep that valve open for certain period of time and shut off automatically

Hi everyone,
The objective of the VI is to measure pH and then open acid or base valve based on pH valve. Below is my UNFINISHED VI
My question is: if, for example, the pH is 10, then, the program will open acidic valve for 5 seconds and then shut off automatically. After that, wait for 5 second. this process will go on and on as I use while loop, but I just dont know how to control the valve on for 5sec and off and then wait for 5sec.
Anyone can help me out? Thank you very much

1. The reason the valves close immediately is that the Elapsed Time VI does not cause any wait, it only measures the time. So the valves closed within a small fraction of a second of the time they opened.
2. I modified your VI to wait until the Elapsed Time has ended. See the "wait" state. I probably modified some of your other functionality in the process, but this shows one way you could do the timing.
3. You do not need any Value property nodes. They should never be used if the value can be wired directly.
4. You do not need any sequence structures. Dataflow will determine the order of things occurring.
5. If you use an enum for the state machine (and it is a good way to name and select states), you should make it a type def. Then when you need to change it as I did to add several states, you only need to change the Type Def in one place and the changes propagate through to every place you used the control or constants derived from it.
6. I added a Halt state which will close both valves before stopping the program. When you are controlling a real world process, it is important to consider the start up and shutdown requirements. For example the digital outputs of the USB-6008 default to inputs when the device is first powered up. And, the inputs are pulled high by a 4700 ohm resistor (at least I think I recall that value). Will this open your valves before the program starts running and sets the I/O lines to outputs and forces them low?
The USB-6008 has rather limited drive on the digital lines. You will probably need a buffer between it and the valve coils.
PID and PWM are more complicated than I want to get into here. First, are your valves proportional or on/off? Second, (assuming that they are on/off) how fast can you open and close them without destroying them in the first week? What is their expected lifetime in terms of the number of operations? How fast do you need to be able to change them to keep your pH where you want it? Are these values compatible?
