    I need to create few directories in the Unix O/s under a specific directory (From a Database Trigger). And the directory names will be determined in the DB Trigger based on the data.

    Hi Christopher
    How is it possible to use System calls from Triggers. Is it possible to use Runtime Libraries in DB Triggers.
    Thanks

  • How to call unix script/command in ODI

    Hello Gurus,
    Please let me know how to call unix script/command in ODI?
    Thanks
    Shridhar

    you can call shell script using the OS command found in Package.
    Step 1. Drag the OS Command in the Packgae
    Step 2. In the Text mentiond call the script say for ex sh /opt/path/script.sh
    Step 3. Execute.
    Note : Make sure the User through which ODI is triggering does have the required permission to execute shellscript , also always provide the full path , since scripts are execute from the oracldi/bin folder so its necessary to provide the complete path of the script location.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to run a openssl command from a java program

    Hi All
    Please suggest on how to run a openssl command from a java program.
    I am using this
    Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
    runtime.exec("openssl pkcs8 -inform der -nocrypt test.der result.pem");
    This is suppose to take test.der as input and create result.pem.
    There are no errors but the file result.pem isnt created.
    Thanks in Advance

    First off is that openssl command correct? Should it be this instead:
    openssl pkcs8 -inform der -nocrypt -in test.der -out result.pem
    Try out your openssl command within a command prompt so that you know that it works ok. I think the command line you specified waits on stdin (well it does for me).
    After that.....
    runtime.exec creates a Process object. If you do this:
    Process openssl = runtime.exec("....")
    then you can examine the return code from openssl to see the exit code - for instance if the input file does not exist then exit = 1. You can test for this with Java
    Alternatively you could get the stderr from the process and look inside it - if it is 0 length then all is good, if it has some text in there then it has likely failed. You could then throw an exception and include the stderr output in the exception messgae. You may need to experiment with this, runnig it first when openssl is happy then running it again when openssl is upset.

    I don't have further info to add to your first post, but think your guess seems quite reasonable. I thought of starting a new thread on the same topic, but think this (question) fits in here, too.
    I have Java code (freeware, not opensoure), intended for Unix, which basically provides the graphical interface and relies on an I/O layer (C + shell scripts) to do most of the work. I have access to the C+shell scripts which are opensource. I ported it to Cygwin and want to use it under Windows (there is no Cygwin native Java VM).
    My problem now boils down to " how to run commands under Unix and what differences are there with Windows". What are the variants?
    I have to guess what the program is doing when I get an IOException at some point. E.g.: a call to shell script may be made in a different way as to a compiled exe in Unix?. I found a way to bypass path problems because forward slashes are also accepted and /cygdrive/c construct can be replace by c:/; shell scripts can be compiled into exes using shc and they work; if symbolic links are replaced by duplication of exe files, they work. What will happen in an instance whereby a process runs a shell script dynamically, through a pipe (the shell script is compiled in the Cygwin/win version and receives parameters) in a construct like:
    pipefp = epopen(cmdbuf,"w"); /* (cmbuf is "makehdr par1 par2 ... ") (makehdr was a shell script and is now compiled exe for Cygwin/Windows) */?.
    Thanks.

  • How to run unix command from Oracle Foms 10g

    OS: UNIX Solaries, Oracle Application Server 10g

  • Running a Linux command "clear" from a Java program

    Hello. How to run a simple linux command to clear the screen from a Java program. I did the following
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("clear");
    Nothing is happening.

    you're not supposed to mess with the shell, youdon't own it and
    shouldn't try to dictate what happens with it.
    The shell is a multiuser system,What?
    The command shell (for example sh, ksh, bash, csh,
    zsh) is a process, a command interpeter just like any
    other (user mode) program.
    yes, and there can be multiple processes writing to it at any one time.
    You do NOT have exclusive access to it, nor should you ever assume you do.
    In a multiuser system there can be several shells
    running on behalf of several users. The same user can
    run several shells.
    Yes, and each shell can be accessed by multiple processes at any one time.
    So what?
    Process a writes to the shell.
    Process b writes to the shell.
    Process a clears the shell, removing whatever process b wrote there.
    You've just messed up process b, or at the very least its output.
    Do NOT assume you have exclusive access to any shell.

  • How to run multiple DOS commands from a single Webutil Client_Host session?

    Hello all,
    I have a requirement where I need to create an interface with SVN from Forms for basic checkin-checkout of files.
    So, I've been trying to use webutil client_host to open a command line session and issue svn commands.
    For svn, sometimes I need to give multiple commands like change to a particular directory and then run an svn command.
    But client_host takes in only one command at a time and I'm unable to issue a series of DOS commands to perform
    a particular task.
    Is there a way to do this?
    Pls suggest.
    Regards,
    Sam

    First your original question... You can put more than one DOS command on a single line, simply separate each command with an ampersand (&). For example:
    mkdir c:\abc & cd abc & dir*
    Regarding your concerns about performance, well that would depend on exactly what you mean. Using CLIENT_HOST (or HOST on the server) simply opens a shell (DOS in this case) then passes your command to it. The performance of performing this action really isn't measurable. Basically you are just pressing a button and you should get a near immediate action. As for the performance of executing each command, that has nothing to do with Forms. Once the command is passed to the shell, the rest is a function of the shell and whatever command you passed.
    Having said that, if you were to write something sloppy like a loop (in pl/sql) which called CLIENT_HOST lots of times repeatedly, then yes there would be a performance problem because the pushing of the button will cause an exchange to and from the server and each cycle in the loop will do the same.
    So the answer to how performance is impacted will depend on what exactly you need to accomplish. If it is a single call to CLIENT_HOST, this should be fine.

  • How to Run Operating System Command Before/After Message Processing SAP PI

    Hi,
    We are trying to execute multiple commands via "Operating System Command Before/After Message Processing".
    When we use single command say for example cp or mv (copy or move) the commands get executed fine.
    eg: cp %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt
    /this works fine/
    when we club commands together or try to redirect the outputs of commands, none of the commands get executed.
    eg:
    cp %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt ; rm %F
    or
    wc -l %F > /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt
    Is it possible to execute multiple commands or redirect the output  of commands without using a shell script? The PI server we are working on iis hosted on UNIX environment.

    Hi Harleen,
    try like this
    cp %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt ; rm %F
    instead of semicolon try this
    (1) &
    command1 & command2
    Execute Command1 and then execute Command2
    (2) &&
    command1 && command2
    Runs the command2 only when command1 doesn't Complete successfully
    (3) ||
    command1 || command2
    Runs the second command if the first command had an error
    (4) ()
    (command1 || command2) || (command3 & command4)
    Defines the order in which commands are to be executed

    Hi,
    I tried to build a local Certification Authority for development purposes.
    I use keytool.
    Commands –genkeypair and –certreq work fine.
    But when I run -gencert command I receive an message “Illegal option...”.
    What is more “gencert” command does not appear in the list of available options “keytool –help” as well.
    How to activate or run “keytool gencert” command?
    I use Windows XP SP3. I tried Java 5.22, 6.17 and 6.22.
    Thank you in advance.
    ysa

    But when I run -gencert command I receive an message 'Illegal option...'. That's because there is no -gencert command. You made it up.
    What is more -gencert command does not appear in the list of available options keytool help as well. That's because it doesn't exist.
    I suggest you try using a command that exists. You've found the documentation. Believe it.
