How to save pl/sql program unit in a file

Could anyone please let me know how to save a pl/sql program in a program file. As per my knowledge Edit command is used to invoke the editor and save the program. But i am unable to use this command properly. I am using Oracle 10g on Linux

One can edit SQL scripts and the command buffer (the last command entered) with the EDIT (or ED) command. However, sometimes one needs to select an editor before using this command. Examples:
Use the Unix/Linux vi-editor:
DEFINE _EDITOR=vi
Use the Notepad on Windows:
DEFINE _EDITOR=notepad
PS: Add this command in your login.sql or glogin.sql scripts so it executes every time you start sqlplus.
Does that answers your question?

If you have Resorcerer from "ancient times" it of course can handle resource forks since that's was it's goal in life.

ExportPDF is the program to convert PDF into different Formats(Doc, Docx, xlsx, rtf) and not Vice Versa, I would suggest you to use CreatePDF Web application for converting any other format to PDF.

  • How to reference Report level program unit in report query?

I have created a report level function FREF13 which returns a VARCHAR2 variable. I am trying to reference this function in report SQL statement like:
    select * from wtr where file_ref = FREF13(:fref)
I am getting error 'ORA-00904: Invalid column name' error. This is because it is unable to recognize FREF13 as local function.
Is it possible to reference local program units in report query?
    Rgds,
    Manish

No, it's not possible. The only things you can reference in a SQL query are columns and functions accessable in the database (since this is where the query is executed). You should create the function in the database.

  • Unable to Find PL/SQL program unit being called

I am using Report Builder version 3.0.5.14.0.
I have an attached library in my report. I have attached this from the file system. When I try to run the report either using report builder or reports runtime, the program complains saying could not find program unit being called ORA-06508. Sometimes the report runs fine without any complaint. This is usually after I delete the attached library, open up the PL/SQL library and re-compile it, and then re-attach the library to my report. My registry settings are correct. It almost is like the program is looking for the library unit in the back-end instead of looking in the file system. Can anybody help me with this?

    Hi kukkapalli
try to use some file monitor to look from where Reports are trying to get that library. For windows you may use f.e. FileMon from www.sysinternals.com. Other possibility could be that Reports can not use compiled (PLX) files and require source (PLL) files ...
    Hope this helps.

  • How to convert from SQL Server table to Flat file (txt file)

I need To ask question how convert from SQL Server table to Flat file txt file

    Hi
    1. Import/Export wizened
    2. Bcp utility
    3. SSIS
    1.Import/Export Wizard
First and very manual technique is the import wizard.  This is great for ad-hoc and just to slam it in tasks.
In SSMS right click the database you want to import into.  Scroll to Tasks and select Import Data…
For the data source we want out zips.txt file.  Browse for it and select it.  You should notice the wizard tries to fill in the blanks for you.  One key thing here with this file I picked is there are “ “ qualifiers.  So we need to make
sure we add “ into the text qualifier field.   The wizard will not do this for you.
Go through the remaining pages to view everything.  No further changes should be needed though
Hit next after checking the pages out and select your destination.  This in our case will be DBA.dbo.zips.
Following the destination step, go into the edit mappings section to ensure we look good on the types and counts.
Hit next and then finish.  Once completed you will see the count of rows transferred and the success or failure rate
Import wizard completed and you have the data!
    bcp utility
Method two is bcp with a format file http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms162802.aspx
This is probably going to win for speed on most occasions but is limited to the formatting of the file being imported.  For this file it actually works well with a small format file to show the contents and mappings to SQL Server.
To create a format file all we really need is the type and the count of columns for the most basic files.  In our case the qualifier makes it a bit difficult but there is a trick to ignoring them.  The trick is to basically throw a field into the
format file that will reference it but basically ignore it in the import process.
Given that our format file in this case would appear like this
    9.0
    9
    1 SQLCHAR 0 0 """ 0 dummy1 ""
    2 SQLCHAR 0 50 "","" 1 Field1 ""
    3 SQLCHAR 0 50 "","" 2 Field2 ""
    4 SQLCHAR 0 50 "","" 3 Field3 ""
    5 SQLCHAR 0 50 ""," 4 Field4 ""
    6 SQLCHAR 0 50 "," 5 Field5 ""
    7 SQLCHAR 0 50 "," 6 Field6 ""
    8 SQLCHAR 0 50 "," 7 Field7 ""
    9 SQLCHAR 0 50 "n" 8 Field8 ""
The bcp call would be as follows
    C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90ToolsBinn>bcp DBA..zips in “C:zips.txt” -f “c:zip_format_file.txt” -S LKFW0133 -T
Given a successful run you should see this in command prompt after executing the statement
    Starting copy...

    bcp import completed!
    BULK INSERT
Next, we have BULK INSERT given the same format file from bcp
    CREATE TABLE zips (
    Col1 nvarchar(50),
    Col2 nvarchar(50),
    Col3 nvarchar(50),
    Col4 nvarchar(50),
    Col5 nvarchar(50),
    Col6 nvarchar(50),
    Col7 nvarchar(50),
    Col8 nvarchar(50)
    GO
    INSERT INTO zips
    SELECT *
    FROM OPENROWSET(BULK 'C:Documents and SettingstkruegerMy Documentsblogcenzuszipcodeszips.txt',
    FORMATFILE='C:Documents and SettingstkruegerMy Documentsblogzip_format_file.txt'
    ) as t1 ;
    GO
That was simple enough given the work on the format file that we already did.  Bulk insert isn’t as fast as bcp but gives you some freedom from within TSQL and SSMS to add functionality to the import.
    SSIS
Next is my favorite playground in SSIS
We can do many methods in SSIS to get data from point A, to point B.  I’ll show you data flow task and the SSIS version of BULK INSERT
First create a new integrated services project.
Create a new flat file connection by right clicking the connection managers area.  This will be used in both methods
    Bulk insert
You can use format file here as well which is beneficial to moving methods around.  This essentially is calling the same processes with format file usage.  Drag over a bulk insert task and double click it to go into the editor.
Fill in the information starting with connection.  This will populate much as the wizard did.
    Example of format file usage
    Or specify your own details
Execute this and again, we have some data
    Data Flow method
Bring over a data flow task and double click it to go into the data flow tab.
Bring over a flat file source and SQL Server destination.  Edit the flat file source to use the connection manager “The file” we already created.  Connect the two once they are there
Double click the SQL Server Destination task to open the editor.  Enter in the connection manager information and select the table to import into.
Go into the mappings and connect the dots per say
Typical issue of type conversions is Unicode to non-unicode.
We fix this with a Data conversion or explicit conversion in the editor.  Data conversion tasks are usually the route I take.  Drag over a data conversation task and place it between the connection from the flat file source to the SQL Server destination.
    New look in the mappings
    And after execution…
    SqlBulkCopy Method
Sense we’re in the SSIS package we can use that awesome “script task” to show SlqBulkCopy.  Not only fast but also handy for those really “unique” file formats we receive so often
Bring over a script task into the control flow
Double click the task and go to the script page.  Click the Design script to open up the code behind

  • How to save multiple forms to a single postscript file

    Hi All,
We have a requirement where we have to print 10 to 20 forms as a batch print each day.
What this means, is that at the end of the day, a single print operation will print all the forms.
The Client is expecting us to create a single postscript file for all these forms.
I need someone to explain to me the postscript functionality and how it is possible to save the information of 20 forms in a single postscript file.
    Thanks,
    Urmila

    HI,
We can use more than one Form in a Driver Program. It's Possible to Print also. Use this Functional Modules
    Open_Form.
    Start_Form.
    Write_Form.
    End_form.
    Start_form
    Write_form

  • How to save data (DBL array) in a excel file

Ok, I am new into Labview.  This question may seem easy for you guys, but for me, it is quite a challenge.  I have current coming out of a loop.  When the program stop, I would like to be able to save it as well as the time when it has been taking and the average current in a excel file.  When my labview code stops, how do I do to get a  pop up window which ask me where and what name to save it to? How do I get so that on the top of each column, it says : current (Amp)    Time (ms)   Average Current (amp)?
    thank you very much,

    Hello,
We love to see people catch the LabVIEW spirit and anything we can do to help
you through the initial learning process is our pleasure.
As KC suggested saving the file as a .csv is a good idea,
you can also save it as a txt file and open it with Excel specifying a delimiter
    for the columns.
There is a really good example you can find in the LabVIEW
example finder if you search for the keyword ‘file’, the example is called “Write
to Text File.vi”. They use a Get date/time String to record the time when data
    is acquired.
I have attached a simple Write to File picture of a VI that
takes a random number and writes it to a file. When I run the VI, a popup asks
me what I want to call the file. The first part writes the heathers on the
columns and inside of the for loop I save the data. Underneath the block diagram
is a picture of the output file when I specify the number of samples to be five.
If you want your file to be on a very specific format, you
can create a template file, read it in LabVIEW, and then add your data to it
and save it to a new file.
Hope this can get you started with your program.
There are a lot of good tutorials online on how to
get started using LabVIEW. Here is the link to a three hour
    introduction course:

We are also comming out with LabVIEW 8 in November and we have a program called LabVIEW Standard Service Program
(SSP) that allows you to get automatic upgrades and updates. Please let
me know if you are interested in knowing more about it.

  • How to run a java program using additional jar files

    Hi everyone in the forum,
i ve created an app using the hFreeChart in eclipse, so i added them as external jar files and tested the program.
now my problem is that the program should run using a terminal in win and i do not know how can i do to make the command line or the system to find them, i added to the path but i read somtehing about classpath, but i have no idea. if anyone can help?
    thanks in advanced

Actually, the best way to prepare a program for regular running is to make it an executable jar file, which means adding a manifest file which contains (at least) a Main-class: and a Class-Path: line. Referenced class libraries typically sit in a lib directory next to the java file. Then you can run it using java -jar myprog.jar.
Failing that create a batch file or link that supplied java with command line parameters including a -classpath=
Using the class path environment results in too much contention between competing values of it.

    Hello,
I dont understand how the whole object(file with filled description) can be put to db?Have you read the documentation and examples about how to use the com.sleepycat.persist API to write and read persistent objects? If so, what specifically is confusing? Be sure to look at the example programs.
We can help with questions about our APIs, once you've read the doc, but please understand that we won't be able to supply you with the code to integrate with your Swing app -- that's your job.

There are commercial products that allow you to do this (e.g. InstallAnywhere from http://www.zerog.com).
One issue is that you have to decide whether you want to bundle a JRE with your program or not. If you do (and you should, in these days of XP shipping without any VM of its own), your program will be a minimum of about 9MB + whatever you actually add as part of your program :-).
In any case, this is not a trivial undertaking.
