How to set command timeout for table object?

I have a report that is generating an error during rendering in a CrystalReportViewer control (v10.5).  The error is "Failed to open a rowset." which appears to be caused by a timeout.  I'm currenlty setting the connection info and location of the sproc programmatically.  How can I set the command timeout as well?  Can I set this via the Attributes collection of the ConnectionInfo object?  (This appears to be a command timeout, not a connection timeout, which I'm already including in the Attributes collection of the ConnectionInfo object and setting at 15 seconds.  I've tried making this as much as 60 seconds but it doesn't change the behavior.)

The error message includes text that states the timeout was exceeded (in bold below)...
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.InternalException: Failed to open a rowset.

1)  Is there a Service Pack for CR 10.5???  That is the runtime that is in use - not XI.
2)  The report viewer app is in version 10.5 (as mentioned in the first post) but the report was created in the designer for version 11.  Before we assume that is a problem - I have other reports created this way that work fine.
3)  The data source is SQL 2005.
4)  The connection type is OLE DB - Microsoft OLE DB provider for SQL Server.
I think the issue is due to corruption in the report file.  I've seen this many times with reports (over the last 10 years).  I've had reports that refuse to work but if I recreate them from scratch the new report works fine.  In fact, I've recreated the data portion of this report (using the same sprocs) and that one works.

  • Set Command Timeout For SQL Server

    Hello,
    How do you set the command timeout for the 'open' statement? I am running a Database via SQL Server and I tried the dialog box timeout statement (the check box on the advanced tab) and simply get an error. The manual shows a 'step.commandtimeout' but how is it implemented?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Kevin -
    I looked at the internal implementation of the CVI SQL Toolkit. The toolkit function that the step type uses is DBNewSQLStatement. Internally to the toolkit the function opens a recordset instead of a command object. The command timeout attribute is only available on a command object and not on a recordset object, so as implemented inside the toolkit the error is appropriate. I think the toolkit could have used a command object to create the recordset object and this would allow the toolkit to let you set the timeout attribute. Unfortuneately this is not the way it was done.
    For the future I may investigate to see if there is a way to bypass this limitation by using different toolkit functions, but I am not sure if there a

    Buttons is typical of a c/s application, or, in case of Web Forms, a Java applet. Instead of buttons, you have to use hyperlinks.
    See:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/faq/faq_migration.htm#346
    The hyperlink wil have to be to a URL that does the insert in the table. This can be a mod_plsql procedure, for instance.

  • How to set the font for table view contol

    Dear All,
    My requirement is to set Font type = Arial and size=1 for
    Table View control. The same font should be for  header, Rows and footer.
    One way we are achieving it through the Renderer class. Where in we are we are supplying data, colums with html font tags.
    Is there any simple way to fix font fot the entire TableView.
    Thanks
    Markandeya

    An approach I've used is to override the CSS styles by adding code like the following to the top of the JSP page.  It's a bit of a hack, but it did the job.  You will need to find ALL the styles used in a table view, and override the font size.
    <%-- OVERRIDE SOME CSS STYLES SO WE HAVE THE DESIRED TABLE CELL PADDING --%>
    <style>
    <!--
    .sapTbvCellStd {
         PADDING-RIGHT: 2px; PADDING-LEFT: 2px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px
    .sapTbvCellAlt {
         PADDING-RIGHT: 2px; PADDING-LEFT: 2px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px
    //-->
    </style>

  • How to set up permission for portal objects and folder

    Hi All,
    We are implementing EP 7.0. For creating portal objects, I have assigned "Super_admin, Content_admin, System_admin and User_admin" role to my userid and created iviews, roles and folder.
    During SAP audit they asked us to open a Iview to show the permission,   the below are the value shown in permission editor.
    Role Name           ====== Administrator ===== End  User ======Role Assigner
    Everyone             ======  Read            ======Yes        ====== No
    Super_admin_role ====== Owner            =====Yes         ======Yes
    SAP asked us to change the permission and said "Super_admin_role" should not be used, they asked us to create a group or role and assign. We are not clear what SAP wanted us to do.
    Can any one let me know how this permission needs to be given and whether "Super Admin" role can be assigned to a userid.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rgards,
    H.K.Hayath Basha.

    Hi Michael,
    I didn't create any role. I will let yo know what I have done so far.
    1. Created a group called "ADMIN_GROUP".
    2. Assigned "SUPER_ADMIN" role to group "ADMIN_GROUP.
    3. Assigned userid "ADMIN_USER" to group "ADMIN_GROUP".
    4. Opened the persmission of "PORTAL_CONTENT" folder and added group "ADMIN_GROUP" and set this group as "OWNER",  "END_USER" check box is ticked and "ROLE_ASSIGNER" check box is checked.
    5. Removed the role "SUPER_ADMIN" from  group "ADMIN_GROUP".
    6. Logged into portal using "ADMIN_USER" created a folder called "TESTING". Then opened the
        permission editor for the folder "TESTING", it showed three record
        "ADMIN_GROUP"           === OWNER  === 'X' === 'X'
        "EVERY_ONE"               === READ     === 'X' === ' '
        "SUPER_ADMIN_ROLE. === OWNER  === 'X' === 'X'
    7. I am not able to delete "SUPER_ADMIN_ROLE" from the permission editor, as it is greyed.
    With the above steps what I have achieved is I have given permission to group "ADMIN_GROUP". Is this what we need to do. Did I did anything wrong.

    Yes it is possible to use datasets. resources listed below. One hting to be aware of; Using datasets larger than about 5,000 records (depending on the report) is not advisable. Performance will potentially be an issue with datasets that are too large.

  • Iplanet 4.1 - How to set session timeout for a specific application

    Hi everyone,
    I have a Iplanet 4.1 old web instance running on Solaris 8. We are using this web instance to connect to few application instances running on Websphere 3.5. We have upgraded most of our web/app to higher version except this.
    One of the websphere applications need more session timeout. (Which I fuguredout not possible to do on Websphere).
    How do I achieve this on Iplanet 4.1.
    NOTE: I referred to Iplanet 6.x where we can achieve this by updating web-app.xml timeOut value per URI. I do not find web-app.xml under v4.1
    Thanks in advance,

    Sorry to say that we can't help here. WS4.1 is obsolete a long time ago.
    As you mentioned that you should use WS6.1SPx or WS7.0 for your production and get support.

    lGraphic.setBackground(Color.RED);

    so now i want to set a tool tip for this lGraphic Object.
    can any body please post answer for this proble.
    if you will post in advance it will help me a lot.

    so now i want to set a tool tip for this lGraphic Object.Your concepts are all wrong. Read the API for java.awt.Graphics and try to understand that a Graphics object is akin to a paintbrush: it has methods to draw whatever is to be drawn. The painting is not the brush, the brush does the painting.
    To obtain a custom tooltip at certain locations within a JComponent, I think the easiest way is to override getToolTipText(MouseEvent me). The method can return null for locations where a tooltip is not to be shown.

  • How to set a timeout for a ws call??

    Hi all. I tried looking inside the forum though I couldn't find anything about this, please, if I'm wrong let me know.
    The issue is the following, the company has a mainframe that exposes through CICS-SOAP a webservice which is known to be running properly (lets call it WS1). I am developing a second webservice (lets call it WS2) in a WebSphere App Server v6.0 that consumes WS1, does something after getting a result and then sends back to an external client the result as a response to the WS2 request.
    Visually, its something like this:
    [WS1 - mainframe] <--> [WS2 - WAS] <--> [Client]
    WS2 was developed using Rational Software Architect v7.0 by using a Dynamic Web Project, and using the Web Service Client Wizard which creates a client from a remote WSDL, and on the other hand creates a Java class to implement the Web Service.
    My only problem now is the fact that I need to control a timeout between WS1 and WS2. I tried using threads but with no good result. Now I absolutely have no idea how to do it. Basically I use the generated proxy to call the WS1 Method from WS2 and that's it, however I need to control that this process doesn't take longer than XX milliseconds.
    Could somebody be of any help? That would really be appreciated.

    Why not having this control in your server ?.
    It should be similar like how a yahoo page is timed out

  • How to set DDL lock for a table

    OCI,how to set DDL lock for a table?

    Oracle acquires a dictionary lock automatically on behalf of any DDL transaction requiring it. Users cannot explicitly request DDL locks. Only individual schema objects that are modified or referenced are locked during DDL operations. The whole data dictionary is never locked
    DDL locks fall into three categories: exclusive DDL locks, share DDL locks, and breakable parse locks.

  • How set diff. timeouts for entity beans?

    How do i set diff. timeouts for diff. entity beans? Is it in the ejb-jar.xml file? Is this refreshed every time it is accesses?

    Hi there,
    Although not familiar with all of the App servers on the market, I'd say that you are unlikely to find a timeout value for Entity Beans. Passivation of Entity beans is normally a function of the commit options supported by a specific App server. For example, with Commit Option C an entity bean instance should always be returned to the instance pool after a transaction has completed. You can find details of the various commit options in the EJB specification which you can view or download from:

  • How to set border lines in table and also in template in the smartforms ?

    How to set border lines in table and also in template in the smartforms ?
    As I have to create table with following detals
    total row = 3
    row1 = 3 column
    row2 = 6 column
    row3 = 9 column
    for 2nd and 3rd row data to be fetched using coding.
    so can anybody explain me what should i use
    Table or Template ?
    and I want the border like excel format.
    Can anybody suggest me ?
    Thanks
    naresh

    if the data is multiple i.e. line items choose table.
    if the data is single i.e. fixed choose template.
    Create table
    >  Draw u r no lines
    > choose option select pattern
    > select display framed patterns
    Choose u r required one.
    out lined, or full lined. u can choose option.
    same procedure to be followed for template also.

  • How to set (class)paths for a Managed server?

    How does one configure the PATH and CLASSPATH and pass definitions (like "-Djava.library.path=c:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\bin")
    to a remotely-started managed server?
    The section in the WLS 6.1 AdminGuide.pdf that talks about configuring a managed
    server's Remote Start tab says on pages 3-9 to 3-10 that, "If you don't specify
    values for these fields and attempt to start the target server from the Administration
    Console, the Node Manager will attempt to start the target server with the values
    for these attributes that were used when starting the Node Manager. The Node Manager
    will be able to start the Managed Server in that case if you specified the required
    values on the command line when starting the Node Manager."
    So it sounds as if I can get the java.library.path definition and CLASSPATH sent
    to the server via the Node Manager startup command.
    Does that work when using the Node Manager as an NT Service? Here is my Win2K
    command file for setting up the Node Manager as an NT Service. Note that I'm trying
    to tell it where to find the Windows native libraries (wlserver6.1\bin for wlntio.dll)
    and the JDBC drivers (C:\SHADOW\jdbc\... and C:\Orant\jdbc\... ) :
    ========== BEGIN installNMNtService.cmd ================ @echo off
    SETLOCAL
    cd C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\
    rem *** Set Classpath to load Weblogic Classes
    set CLASSPATH=.;C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\lib\weblogic.jar;C:\SHADOW\JDBC\scjd12.jar;C:\orant\jdbc\lib\classes111.zip
    rem *** Set Command Line for service to execute
    rem *** %JAVA_HOME%\java will automatically be prepended.
    set CMDLINE=" -ms16m -mx16m -classpath \"%CLASSPATH%\" \"-Dbea.home=C:\p\bea\"
    \"-Djava.security.policy==C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1/lib/weblogic.policy\" \"-Dweblogic.nodemanager.weblogicHome=C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\"
    \"-Dweblogic.nodemanager.reverseDNSenabled=true\" \"-Djava.library.path=c:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\bin\"
    \"-Dweblogic.nodemanager.listenAddress=111.111.111.123\" \"-Dweblogic.nodemanager.trustedHosts=./config/nodemanager.hosts\"
    weblogic.nodemanager.NodeManager"
    rem *** Install the service
    "C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\bin\beasvc" -install -svcname:EDANodeManager -javahome:"C:\p\bea\jdk131"
    -execdir:"C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1" -extrapath:"C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\bin" -cmdline:%CMDLINE%
    ENDLOCAL
    ================= END installNMNtService.cmd ==================
    But when I start a server remotely, it can't find the native libraries and it
    can't find the JDBC libraries in the CLASSPATH. Otherwise, it can serve up HTML
    pages at the correct port number so I know it's running.
    When starting a managed server remotely via the WLS 6.1 console, how do I tell
    the managed server where the native libraries and JDBC libraries are?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    The memory setting on the WC_Spaces managed servers can be seen as mentioned below.
    ps -eaf | grep Spaces
    Above command shows something like this at the top of the output:
    /a01/app/oraweb/middle/jrrt-3.1.2-1.6.0/bin/java -jrockit -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -Dweblogic.Name=WC_Spaces1 ...

  • How do set operation timeout in tomcat server?

    hi all
    suppose i have one endless loop program(jsp) that program run under tomcat server,
    so it's keep on runing in tomcat server.
    i want, after some time the server send error message like operation timeout.
    how do set operation timeout in tomcat server?
    if anybody know help me.
    my mail id [email protected]

    Well, the server.xml file has connection time outs, but that is for idle time, I think... I'm not sure what would happen in a loop... , especially if you are sending some data back to the client in each iteration. Generally you shouldn't be starting a loop that will really run forever. Maybe have some type of counter to break out if something hasn't occurred within x iterations, or create a separate thread that can sleep for x seconds and set a flag to break the loop after that time.
