How to set infinite read timeout on web service call

For JAX-WS JRF web services, I have a client that can set oracle.webservices.ClientConstants.HTTP_READ_TIMEOUT to any given value. I know that if you don't set this value, the default value is infinite. But how do I explicitly set the timeout to be infinite? Maybe 0? I will get something set up that I can experiment with, but someone might know off the top of their head. Thanks.

Have found out that 0 is the default, which is infinite timeout.

  • Setting the attachment name in web service call scheduleReport

    Hi there,
    I searched the forum for this, found lots of threads but no useful solution...
    I am using BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 and I need to send a PDF report by email using its web service functionality. This works fine but the report is attached as "attachment.pdf" which is far from ideal. Is it possible to specify what the attachment should be called (e.g. "veryimportantreport.pdf")
    See below an example of the web service call I am doing.
    Thanks

    We are using BIP to generate reports from Apex and it works very well, except for this small detail.
    By the way, you sound very sure; are you related to Oracle in any way (I mean, is this an "official" answer)? I can't tell from your profile...

  • Connection timeout in web service calls

    Hi,
    We have a clustered weblogic 10gR3 environment where two nodes are for ILOG rule engine, two nodes for Oracle BPM engine and four nodes for Oracle BPM workspace. All the webserices calls are SOAP over HTTP. All the webservices to rule engine and DBAdapter are hosted on Oracle Service Bus. Some of the webservice calls when invoked throw a connection timeout exception. Can any one help on how to debug this or the possible causes for this scenario? The same webservice call when invoked or retried after a few minutes is working fine. Below is the stack trace:

    EJP, thanks for confirming that the generated code is incorrect and that the finally block should be used.
    Jschell, thanks for the suggestions and the trust in my technical skills... though writing my own generator seems a bit of too great enterprise for me haha!
    The generator is not open source so I cannot modify it and using another one is not an option as it is the "standard" in the company.
    In the end I decided for writing a post processor (in the form of a JDeveloper extension) to fix the code after it is generated. I will also probably be filing a bug for it with Oracle.

  • How to set a timeout on the web service call

    I can use Business process or JCD wrapped as business process. I need to send a web service request and wait for 2 seconds, if the response doesnot comeback within the 2 second time frame, I need to raise the fault message and publish it to queue. Webservice external system, doesnot have configurations for the duration of the web service call, Is there any better way of getting this accomplished.
    thanks
    Kiran

    This can be solved quite easily if you use BPEL... but I think you also could do it in a JCD.
    What you need to do, is to delegate the actual web service call to a "sub service". Then you call this "sub service" using an asynchornous mechanism like JMS. After the JMS send, you do a JMS recieve waiting for your desired amout of time. If this times out, you can throw an exception or whatever.
    The "sub service" consists of queue that triggers your "sub service" that does the web service call normally. The "sub service" blocks until the web service returns a response and posts this back on a queue (you should use a dedicated reply-to Queue). If the reply comes to late, it is ignored by the calling business process.

  • How to set up read receipts?

    how to set up read receipts?

    Mail can send a read receipt request:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1183650
    However, note that read receipts are extremely unpopular, because of privacy issues as well as abuse by spammers (verifying addresses by using read receipts).  Most savvy users have this feature turned off, if their e-mail client even supports it, which many don't.  So not receiving a read receipt tells you absolutely nothing.  That makes the entire read receipt system pretty much useless.
    Mail will not, ever, respond to a read receipt request.

  • How to see http response from an axis web service call (Eclipse)

    Hello,
    I would like to see the raw http response which is returned from web service calls. I have a dynamic web project in Eclipse which uses a local instance of Tomcat 6. I'm using all of the default setting for a top-down web service generated from a WSDL file. I've generated the client using the built-in "generate client" using default settings.
    I've tried using the Eclipse plugin TCP/IP monitor and apache's TCPMON, but I am only able to see the http request, not the http response returned from the web server I am querying.
    I've seen some sparse documentation outlining how to use logging handlers and a client-config.wsdd file, but I haven't been able to get that working.
    So to recap, I'm looking for a way to view raw http responses using a web service client and server generated from a WSDL file in eclipse. I don't mind creating a new project using different code-generating libraries if someone has an easy way to do this using a different configuration.
    Thanks very much,
    Craig

    A simple google query for "apache axis2 http response" also return this article:

    And finally, you did go through the Axis2 website right? It has a wiki with a rather staggering amount of articles in there.

  • Timeout to Web Services using via Proxy Server

    Hello,
    I'm wondering if anybody can help.
    I have a couple of preset web services on the coldfusion web server. As far as I know these have never worked since it's original installation back in June 2011.
    Whenever I attempt to refresh one of the web services using CF administrator I am seeing the following error message:
    Unable to refresh webservice.
    Unable to read WSDL from URL: https://www.****.cfc?wsdl.
    Error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect.
    The server does not have a direct connection to the internet as it is connected to the internal company network which uses a proxy server for internet connectivity.
    I am suspecting that CF is attempting to connect to the internet without the knowledge of the proxy server.
    I have looked high and low but unable to locate anything in CF admin to add a proxy server.
    I'm hoping somebody can reply with a simple solution to fix the above.
    Many Thanks,
    Andy

    Andy, two things.
    First, the problem could be proxy-related, but I notice also that the URL has https. And in that you’re getting a connection timeout, it could be that the destination server (at that URL in the web service call) is set to only allow SSL calls (or perhaps even calls to that specific site, directory, or file) from a specific IP address. Try visiting that URL from a browser running ON THAT SERVER (where CF is installed). It does not good to test the URL from your local development workstation. That would not be the same IP address from which the request would come when run via CF.
    Second, as for specification of proxy info, here’s something to consider: the CF Admin interface showing web services is populated by a call from within CFML code (using CFINVOKE/cfobject/createobject) invoking that web service. If you can find the code that is really calling the web service, you should find that you can specify the proxy info there. See:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/8/htmldocs/Tags_i_10.html (cfinvoke)
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/8/htmldocs/Tags_m-o_14.html (cfobject)
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/8/htmldocs/help.html?content=functions-pt0_23.html (createobject)
    Note that with createobject, you do it using a new (for CF8) argstruct. See the docs there for more, or my blog entry:
    http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2007/9/5/cf8_hiddengem_createobject_argstruc t
    Let us know if any of this helps.

  • How to prevent downloading wsdl in weblogic web service client

    Hi,
    I get a problem regarding weblogic web service client. My working environment:
    weblogic server 8.1
    Windows XP SP2
    JDK 1.4
    I use the weblogic tool to generate the client jar file from the wsdl file.
         <target name="generate-client">
              <clientgen wsdl="ACCESS.wsdl"
                   packageName="xxxxxx.client"
                   clientJar="${client}/${AccessClient_jar_file}"
                   keepGenerated="true"
                   saveWSDL="true"
              />
              <javac srcdir="${source}"
              destdir="${client}"
              includes="**/AccessClient.java">
              <classpath>
              <pathelement path="${client}/${AccessClient_jar_file}"/>
              </classpath>
              </javac>
         </target>
    After that, I create a client java file to invoke the service deploy in the server.
    public static void main(String[] argv)
    throws Exception
         int transactionId = 100;
         int id = 1000;
    // Setup the global JAXM message factory
    System.setProperty("javax.xml.soap.MessageFactory", "weblogic.webservice.core.soap.MessageFactoryImpl");
    // Setup the global JAX-RPC service factory
    System.setProperty( "javax.xml.rpc.ServiceFactory", "weblogic.webservice.core.rpc.ServiceFactoryImpl");
    AccessServicePorts ws = new AccessServicePorts_Impl(argv[0]);
    AccessService port = ws.getAccessService();
    // Resource - create
    Resource resource = new Resource();
    resource.setRES_CD("Create ResCo");
    resource.setCODE_CODE("code_cod");
    resource.setRES_TYPE("Resource typ");
    resource.setCOMMON_FIELD(common);
    AccessDefaultResult resultItems = port.createResource(resource);
    System.out.println("createResource : " + resultItems);
    I find that this web service client always issue 2 http requests to invoke an web service method deployed in server.
    1st http reqeust:
    GET /AccessEpol/EpolServiceSoap?WSDL HTTP/1.1
    User-Agent: Java/1.4.2_08
    Host: 127.0.0.1:8001
    Accept: text/html, image/gif, image/jpeg, *; q=.2, */*; q=.2
    Connection: keep-alive
    the return result is the wsdl downloaded from the server.
    2nd http request is the real web service request.
    The question is how could I eliminate the 1st http request because it's really unnecessary. I use other web service client like Axis 1.x, Axis client never has the http request to download the wsdl from the server.
    I read through weblogic web service document. It do mentions that put saveWSDL="true" in the clientgen ant task. the default value for saveWSDL is true already. I did try saveWSDL="false" also. None of them can eliminate the 1st http request.
    appreciate for any answer my question?

    Hi David,
    thanks for the reply.
    More or less I agree some points you mentioned above.
    I did use Axis 1.x to test the inter-operability. The web service was developed in Weblogic 8.1 and is a part of an existing web application. It will be merged to existing application deployed in weblogic 8.1.
    I also program the web service client to test the web service.
    The implementation of the server and client will be handed over the project team and training for supporting or continuous development have to be conducted by me. So I don't like to use two types of technologies which will make thing complex.
    I found this issue when I tried to protected the web service endpoint, eg http://localhost:7001/epol/service, using the web application Basic mechanism. The wsdl URL http://localhost:7001/epol/service?WSDL is also protected in this case. Unfortunately the username/password pair is not sent to the server when the weblogic client download the WSDL from the server. In this case, the client failed and throw exception.

  • How to bind list data to XML Web service request

    How do I bind specific columns in a DataGrid to the Web
    service request? I'm having trouble finding any documentation that
    addresses that specific pattern, i.e. sending a complex list to the
    server via a Flex Web service send() command. I'm fairly new to
    Flex programming and don't know if what I want to do is possible.
    Here what I've been able to do so far.
    1. Using a Web service called a service on the server and
    retrieved a complex list.
    2. Poplulated a DataGrid with the result
    3. The user has selected multiple rows from the DataGrid
    using a checkbox column
    4. The user pressed a button that calls a Web service send().
    This Web service should only send data from only two columns and
    only for those rows the user has checked.
    5. I can loop over the DataGrid and find the selected rows
    and put them in another ArrayCollection called 'selectedRows'.
    The issue is that I don't know how to bind 'selectedRows' to
    the Web service. Right now I'm reading up on "Working with XML" in
    the Programming with ActionScript 3.0 chapter. But I'm just fishing
    here. No bites yet.

    Don't bind. Build the request object programatically, as you
    are doing with your selectedRows AC, and send(myObject) that.

  • How can we make a external web service call within tjspSelfRegistrationTile

    Hello Gurus,
    Can anybody tell me how can we include a JAVA code within the tjspSelfRegistrationTiles.jsp page? so that we can make a external web service call which includes the logic of validating the UDF values?
    The requirement is to validate the value of a field provided by the user on the OIM self registration page. If the user has provided invalid value for that particular field then the user should not be able to register himself - an error message should be displayed. I have to compare the value provided by the user with some already hard coded ones within the JAVA code. If the value of the field is one of the hard-coded ones then only the user should be able to register himself.
    Any Response/ideas/concepts truly appreciated.
    TIA,
    - oidm.

    Have you ever tried something like this?
    1) Create an error message definition where error code starts with Adapter. for example, ADAPTER.Invalid_TemporaryAccess_Dates.
    2) Create an entity adapter and assigns it to the Request object, pre-insert;
    3) Logic of your adapter
    Tests if the REQ_OBJ_ACTION is Create Entity
    Performs your validations
    Handles an error the validation is not ok

    Best Regards
    Ravi Shankar

    Hi Ravi,
    This is for Customizing Email and Other Web Services.
    Create addresses
    The address maintenance of R/3 users is carried out either via the R/3 User Maintenance (Transaction SU01) or the Private office settings (Transaction SO12):
    Address --> Other communication...
    Selection of the required communication service.
    Enter address.
    Copy or save.
    b) Configuration of SAPconnect (Transaction SCOT)
    Set communication method
    4.0 + 4.5: Goto --> Customizing --> Communication methods
    as of 4.6: Settings --> Communication methods
    Set the method of the required communication service to the value 'SAPCONNECT' and save the setting.
    Customized the same for Internet mailing.
    C) If you want to Transfer Table Structure Values from SAP R/3 to Web Services then
           1. Create BAPI and Transfer whichever things you want.(Note: The Structure
               of BAPI should be similar to Web Structure (Datatypes).
           2. Create a BDC and Schedule it in the Background.
    Hope it helps you, Awaiting for the Reward Points.
    Thanks
    Subrato Chowdhury

    - I would like have an sample of code which initialize the ReportingService, do the call and process result.
    We use the SQL Server ReportingService 2008 R2 and currently we made HTTP call like this : http://<ssr_server>/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fSSRS_OMB%2fMyReport&rs:Command=Render&MyParam=<value>
    Regards

    Hi ombinte,
    SQL Server Reporting Services provides access to the full functionality of the report server through the Report Server Web service. Because the Report Server Web service is an XML Web service which uses Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) over Hypertext Transfer
    Protocol (HTTP), any SOAP-aware application or development tool can communicate with the SSRS web service.
    There are three primary ways to develop Reporting Services applications based on the Web service, please see:
    Develop applications using Microsoft Visual Studio and the Microsoft .NET Framework SDK.
    Develop applications using the rs utility (RS.exe), the Reporting Services script environment.
    Develop applications using any SOAP-enabled set of development tools.
    For more information about Report Server Web Service, you can refer to the following document:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152787.aspx
    Hope this helps.
