How to set oracle archive parameter to off

Hi All,
            can anyone let me know how to set oracle parameter off.And are thier any prerequisites that needs to be taken care.
Thanks in advance for the help,

Hi,
>
>                   Do i need to shut down database as well as sap instance for seeting to noarchive log mode.
Yes. In order to put database in noarchive log mode, first stop your sap system.
Then go to oracle->
login as ora<sid>
sqlplus "/as sysdba"
startup mount;
alter database noarchivelog;
alter database open;
Then start SAP and by this way archive log is off;
You can also verify that whether your databse is in archive log mode or noarchive log mode by below command:
select log_mode from v$database;
>Please let me know how i should proceed and that insatnce offline back up was taken in feb so before doing this i need to take >offline backup.so how should i proceed
Before stopping archive log mode, you must have offline database backup.
Is there any reason why you want to off archive log as SAP always recommends that because then only you can do point in time recovery if something wrong happen to your database.
Thanks

  • How to set no archive log in MS SQL

    Dear Gurus,
    I'll already did the support package upgrade and need to run the SGEN.But before that I'll need to set the archive log in MS SQL 2005 database.
    Kindly please help me,how to set "no archive log " in MS SQL .Then I can run the SGEN.After that how to revert back to "enable archive log mode".
    All the posting told about the archive log with Oracle.
    Thanks
    /Shah

    Hi Shah,
    In MS SQL Server, Transaction log is used to write log files.
    For eg., Intially if you allocate 10GB to the Tr.Log and can set the limit based on your requirement, say as 11GB. It means it wont grow beyond the point 11GB.
    If you take a transactional log backup, the data present in the 10GB file is freed up, but the size of the file would remain same.
    This can be truncated by shrinking the log file.
    1. Open SQL Mgmt studio.
    2. Right click on the DB(SID)> Tasks>Shrink-->Files.
    3. Choose "Log" in the file type and "Log File Name" in the Filename column.
    4. Shrink Action should be "Release Unused Space"
    5. Then Click Ok. The unused space will be released.
    The Transaction log can be switched off by changing the Recovery Model to "SIMPLE"
    1. Click on the DB(SID)
    2. Properties>Options>Recovery Model.
    3. If the recovery model is set to Simple, the Transaction log wont be written.
    Hope this would help you. Revert for any other clarification.

  • How to set oracle parameters

    Hi all,
    how to set oracle parameters in my sap 4.7 server. I need to know the procedure of parameter tune.
    Regards,.

    Hi
    Please try this link.
    http://oracle.basisconsultant.com/oracle_tuning_parameters.htm
    http://www.orafaq.com/wiki/Oracle_database_Performance_Tuning_FAQ
    But before doing this, check for all the probabilities as it requires lots of data and traces to do the parameter tuning.

  • How to set this DATS parameter

    Hi Pros,
            I am calling function 'HR_FORMS_TIM_GET_B2_RESULTS' in the program , its input parameter is BEGDA, I transfer a date variable to BEGDA, but does not work. can not get any data. but if I run this function in SE37, I input date '20140807', successfully get result.  please tell me how to set this DATS parameter?

    Hi,
    You might be passing the date in '12.12.2014' or '12/12/2014' format. Please
    use the function module 'CONVERSION_EXIT_BEGDA_INPUT' to convert the date
    to internal format and then pass it to the function module.
    Thanks

  • How to set the resource_limit parameter to each user

    how to set the resource_limit initialization parameter to each user.
    it says like this;
    You must modify the RESOURCE_LIMIT initialization parameter. After you assign profiles to users, the Oracle database
    enforces the limits only when the RESOURCE_LIMIT parameter is set to TRUE. Therefore, you modify the RESOURCE_LIMIT initialization parameter to enforce the resource limits defined within each user's profile.
    alter system set resource_limit=true;
    if doing like this is it ok. ????
    Assume im logged as user "SYS". so if i use this command, will it alter the resource_limit parameter for this user SYS only OR for the entire database..... (for all other user)

    The RESOURCE_LIMIT parameter only enables resource limits that are defined in profiles.
    The DEFAULT profile, by default, is UNLIMITED for all resources.
    You should create a custom profile and set the limits you need. The next step would be to assign that profile to the users whom you want to limit. Other users in other profiles (or in the DEFAULT profile) would not have any limits enforced.
    See the documentation on CREATE PROFILE.

  • How to set the tables parameter to a BAPI using adaptive RFC model

    Hi,
    I have a BAPI ZBAPI that has a tables parameter ZPernr of type ZTable with two elements pernr and name.
    I used adaptive RFC model and created model classes for the BAPI.
    My question how do i set list of pernr and name to the tables parameter in the webdynpro for java.
    I have the following methods available
    ZBAPI input = new ZBAPI();
    1.ZTable table = new ZTable();
    table.setPernr(pernr);
    table.setname(name);
    input.addZPernr(table);
    how do i set the table parameter for multiple pernr and name
    2.
    add all the pernr and name to list and set that list to input in the following way
    input.setZPernr(list) and list of typecom.sap.aii.proxy.framework.core. AbstractList
    out of two methods mentioned which one is correct.
    Please let me know the solution
    Thanks
    Bala Duvvuri

    Hi Bala,
                In your code:
    List pernrList = new ArrayList();
    pernrList  should be declared as the  type of class HROBJECT   ( The structure name in the model  e.g. the node PERFWARN type is Zhrecmfm_002_Perfrat_Warning_Input )
    Try this:
    HROBJECT  pernrList = new HROBJECT();
    pernrList.setPernr(pernr);
    input.setPernr_List(pernrList);
    // call BAPI execute method
    If you want to pass list of pernrs, you can pass in alternate way
    IPrivate<viewname>.I<nodeame>Node prNode = wdContext.node<node>();
    IPrivate<viewname>.I<nodeame>Element prEle;
    for (int i = 0; i < table.size(); i++) {
    HROBJECT  pernrList = new HROBJECT();
    pernrList.setPernr(pernr); // Set the pernr from current record
    prEle = prNode.create<nodeame>Element(pernrList);
    prNode.addElement(prEle);
    // call BAPI execute method
    Once I execute the BAPI how do i iterate thru second table parameter PERNR_PERFRAT to get pernr and performance rating text
    Say your node name is  PERNR_PERFRAT
    for (int i = 0; i < wdContext.nodePERNR_PERFRAT().size(); i++) {
    wdContext.nodePERNR_PERFRAT().getPERNR_PERFRATElementAt(i).getPernr();
    wdContext.nodePERNR_PERFRAT().getPERNR_PERFRATElementAt(i).getPerfrat();

    can we write   :new.ROW_CREATED_BY      := V$SESSION.USERNAME;
    since i didnt have permission to acess V$SESSION table or any other approch to set Oracle username to a column
    Please NeedHelpFul

    The USER-Function gives you the name of the currently logged in user.
    Are you looking for this?
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/functions207.htm#sthref2462
    you could directly use it in your trigger like this:
    create or replace
    TRIGGER "EMP_TRG" BEFORE INSERT OR UPDATE ON EMPLOYEE FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    If inserting then
    if :new.ROW_CREATED_BY is NULL then
    :new.ROW_CREATED_BY := USER;
    end if;
    END;

  • How to set Oracle function as a PreparedStatement parameter?

    Hi all,
    I was wondering if it is possible to use Oracle function as a PreparedStatement parameter? For example:
    PreparedStatement pstmt = new PreparedStatement("update table set date=? where ...");
    pstmt.set???(1, sysdate);I can put the function in the sql directly of course, but the parameter is depending on some condition. Any idea is greatly appreciated.
    Joey

    First, sysdate isn't a function, it's really a pseudo-value.
    Second, it doesn't exist on the Java side, therefore it can't be bound via a set statement.
    The correct and standard way is to put it in the SQL; if the use of sysdate is conditional, you can:
    1) embed the conditionality in the SQL, e.g.:
    PreparedStatement pstmt = new PreparedStatement("update table set date= decode( ?, 0, ?, 1, sysdate, sysdate) where ...");2) for more complex conditionality, define a custom function and embed that in your SQL
    3) do it on the Java side and use more than one preparedstatement

  • How to set different view parameter programmatically in the same task flow

    Hello everyone,
    I have a view activity A that calls another view activity B with a link. In this link the action is set to a method (I use JSFUtils class: http://jdeveloper-adf.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/TGPrototype2/ViewController/src/com/tgslc/defaultManagement/utils/JSFUtils.java):
    public String goToB() {
    String paramToPass = "someParameterTakenInSomeWay";
    JSFUtils.setExpressionValue("#{pathToViewB_pageBPageDef.paramName}",paramToPass);
    return "openActivityB";
    where openActivityB is the control flow case to call B.
    In the B pageDef file I have set a parameter "paramName" without any value:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <pageDefinition xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/uimodel"
    version="11.1.1.59.23" id="pageBPageDef">
    <parameters>
    <parameter id="paramName"
    value=""/>
    </parameters>
    <executables/>
    <bindings/>
    </pageDefinition>
    But at running time I have a oracle.jbo.expr.JIEvalException:
    JBO-25077: Name paramName not found in the specified object: pathToViewB_pageBPageDef.
    The question is: how can I set the parameter programmatically from the view activity A?
    Note that I use this method to set the parameter because in the real application I have many "view activity A" that will call B, but all of these have to set this parameter.
    I use JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.
    Thanks in advance,
    Baduel

    Hi,
    this is because PageDef B represents a binding container that is not active to the time you try to call it. The binding container becomes available when navigating to the page but not before. Instead:
    1. define a managed bean in pageFlowScope and expose a setter/getter method to hold the value to pass on
    2. Reference the managed bean in pageFlowScope from the attributebinding NDValue property using EL
    3. Set the managed bean value before navigating to view B

  • How to set Oracle 11g as Primary Oracle Home

    Hi All,
    I've Windows 7 operating system & have Oracle 11g client ( enterprise edition), Oracle 10g XE and Oracle Developer Suite 10g. I want to know how can I set Oracle_11g_home as my primary oracle home.
    Note: Currently, the home of Oracle Developer Suite 10g is my primary home as it gets invoked whenever I type sqlplus in the command prompt or tnsping my remote database from command prompt.
    Regards,
    MK

    You have two options. Either edit your %PATH% environment variable and place the Path related to your 11g home first. Another option is to add an ORACLE_HOME environment variable that points to your 11g home.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to setting oracle.jps.authorization.provider through EM

    Hi,
    I have installed Oracle SOA 11.1.1.5. How can I set the logging level of oracle.jps.authorization.provider in EM Console. I don't see this under EM Console -> Log configuration.
    Thanks

    Hi swati,
    1. for this u will also require help of basis team.
    2. these are the steps.
    a) make an entry in DBCON
    b) make connection string
    (on the physical application server,
    so that it can connect to secondary database)
    (this will be done by basis team,
    in which, they will specify the
    IP address of the secondary database server,
    the DATABASE ID, and the port number)
    c) then using open sql / native sql,
    we can use the secondary database connection,
    just like normal.
    d) if we use open sql,
    then there must be Y/Z table on
    sap as well as secondary database,
    and the field names , their type all should be identical.
    regards,
    amit m.

  • How to set oracle thin driver for jdbc2.0 in WLS6.1?

    I want to use oracle thin driver for jdbc2.0 in WLS6.1.
    I just set it like what it look in jdbc1.2.
    In my code, I import the classes under package oracle.sql.* and oracle.jdbc.*.
    When I cast the connection from (DataSource)ctx.lookup("myPool").getConnection();
    to oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection,
    it raise the exception java.lang.ClassCastException: weblogic.jdbc.rmi.SerialConnection.
    Can any one tell me how to solve it? Thanks

    Hi Andy,
    You can not cast a connection returned from datasource
    to oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection as it's a kind of an RMI
    stub thus has nothing to do with oracle. Could you tell us
    what you're going to acomplish? We'll try to offer a solution.
