  • How to set the default component color

    Hi
    I have a JFormattedTextField which is part of a form. Based on user input, if there's something wrong in it, then I colour it pink. I also make it editable(true) or editable(false) based on the mode that I am.
    Problem I have is that once I set the color of it once (to pink), then it won't change the colour of the Textfield based on mode when I call setEditable(true/false) anymore. I want it to "unset" the colour that I did and not have to colour it everytime. I don't want to have to manually change the colour after I set the colour once.
    Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks!

    Thanks camickr !
    That's exactly what I was looking for. (let the UIManager take care of colors of the textfield whether it's editable or not)
    as for 2nd reply my code is in several files. IF i have to shorten it, it would be:
    it's just a pseudo code and incomplete but it gets the idea across
    * this function automatically changes colors of textfield based on mode which can change any time
    if(mode == NEW_MODE)
    textField.setEditable(true);
    else
    textField.setEditable(false);
    * This function sets the color during save time
    public void save()
    clear();
    if(textField.getText() == null)
    textField.setBackGround(Color.PINK);
    public void clear()
    //reset the color if it's pink or to the original color
    //the color must update once we change mode which is independent of this
    public void open(Patient p)
           clear();
           displayPatient(p);
    }

How to set the width property for selectManyShuttle component? After that does selectManyShuttle provide horizontal scrollbar as well?

  • How to set the value of something in a component from the main application?

    Hi,
    Maybe I've been working on this too long, but I can't figure
    out how to set the value of the text property of a text input field
    in a component from my main application in an mx:Script block. I
    have a component called Login in the components folder, and I need
    to set the text value of empNum. In my mxml declaration at that the
    top, I've declared these components as xmlns:c="components.*" So
    logically, the property I'm trying to set is c.Login.empNum.text. I
    can't figure out the correct syntax to get this to work, and I've
    tried everything I can think of. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    I'm thinking this should be an easy one, and I'm just missing
    something.
    Thanks!
    Holli

    Did you try giving it an id ?
    <c:MyLogin id="loginScreen" /c>
    So later you can do loginScreen .empNum.text = "my text"

  • How to set the Data Synchronisation mode for ADF BC component?

    Hi All,
    How to set the Data Synchronisation mode for ADF BC component
    Thanks
    Raghavendra

    Can you clarify what you mean by the data synchronization mode?
    If you mean the Sync Mode, then in 10.1.3 you set this property by:
    1. Selecting your DataBindings.cpx file
    2. Expanding the "Data Control Usages" section in the structure window
    3. Selecting the ADFBC-based data control
    4. Setting the "syncMode" property in the property inspector.

  • Hi, I am using Indesign CS6, How to set the page size in Inches.

    Hi, I am using Indesign CS6, How to set the page size in Inches.

    All fields in InDesign can be entered in any measurement system. So, if you want to make an 8"x10" document and go to File>New Document and the window looks like this:
    …you can type either 8 in or 8" into the Width field like this:
    …and when you move to the next field, it will convert the eight inches into the equivalent number in the unit of measure that it is using at the moment, like this:
    … (203.2 milimeters is the same as 8 inches). You can also enter a different measurement unit into other fields once the file is created, such as the width or height of a frame, or the position of an object in the X and Y coordinates.
    If you would rather just work in inches instead of having to type the inches mark or abbreviation, go to InDesign>Preferences>General and select the Units & Increments tab. There you will see Ruler Units for Horizontal and Vertical at the top of the window. Set them to Inches and all of the fields will display in inches. If you do that to an open document, you will change the unit of measure for that document. If you do it while no documents are open, it will change the unit of measure for any new documents you create. To change the unit of measure for existing documents, you will have to open each and make the change.

  • How to set the width of DataGridColumn dynamically?

    What I want to do is, load data from a text file and put into a DataGrid component, the fields of ech record in the text have fixed length, and are seperated by a space, like this:
    personal.txt
    50 Uvwxyz  Male    123456789
    60 Hijklmn  Male    67890123456789
    30 Abcdefg Male    123456789012345
    40 Opqrst   Female 987654321012345678
    the configuration file is column.xml:
    <dgcolumn>
         <personal>
              <len>20</len>
              <title>Name</title>
         </personal>
         <personal>
              <len>3</len>
              <title>Age</title>
         </personal>
         <personal>
              <len>6</len>
              <title>Sex</title>
         </personal>
         <personal>
              <len>20</len>
              <title>IdNumber</title>
         </personal>
    </dgcolumn>
    First I load the column.xml into an arrColumn, then read the personal.txt and seperate the record by the width( "len" in the xml file ), and put the seperated fields into another arrField, set the arrayFld as the dataProvider of a DataGrid, thus, the title can be showed as the headerText of the DataGrid and the data can be loaded correctly.
    private function handleComplete( event:Event ):void
         var arrField:Array = new Array();
         var arrFile:Array = loader.data.split(/\n/);
         for( var i:int = 0; i < arrColumn.length; i ++ )
              arrField[i] = convIcom( arrFile[i] );
         adgFile.dataProvider = arrField;
         trace( "The data has successfully loaded" );
    private function convIcom( strRecord:String ):Object
         var key:String = null;
         var dataField:String = null;
         var offset:int = 0;
         var obj:Object = new Object();
         if( strRecord.length > 0 )
              for( var i:int = 0; i < arrColumn.length; i ++ )
                   dataField = strRecord.substr( offset, arrColumn[i].len );
                   key = arrColumn[i].title;
                   obj[key] = dataField;
                   offset += arrColumn[i].len + 1;
         return obj;
    <mx:DataGrid x="10" y="100" width="400" id="dgFile" />
    The problem is, the width of the DataGridColumn is average, how to set the column width by the length of each field? I can calculate the rate of each field ( field / fields ), but I don't know how to change the property of the DataGridColumn.width.
    Thanks for helping.

    In the above post, I pasted an old version of personal.txt, so I paste it again:
    personal.txt
    Uvwxyz  50 Male   123456789
    Hijklmn 60 Male   67890123456789
    Opqrst  40 Female 987654321012345678
    Abcdefg 30 Male   123456789012345
    And I have another question, when the data is loaded into the DataGrid, the fields of each record are ordered in alphabetical order ( the "Age" column will appear firstly, then "IdNumber", "Name", "Sex" ), not as the order in column.xml, how to make it keep the sequence of the xml file?
    Thanks again.

    How to set the timezone in a DATE datetype?
    Thanks

    10.5 Date, Time, and Timestamp
    The JDBC API follows the Java platform's approach of representing dates and times as a millisecond value relative to January 1, 1970 00:00:00 GMT. Since most databases don't support the notion of a time zone, the JDBC 2.0 API adds new methods to allow a JDBC driver to get/set Date, Time, and Timestamp values for a particular time zone using a Calendar. For example,
    ResultSet rs;
    Date date1 = rs.getDate(1);
    returns a Date object that wraps a millisecond value which denotes a particular date, like January 3, 1999, and a normalized time 00:00:00 in the default time zone. The time component of the Date is set to zero in the default time zone since SQL DATE values don't have a time component. Since a Calendar was not supplied explicitly to getDate() , the default time zone (really the default Calendar) is used by the JDBC driver internally to create the appropriate millisecond value assuming that the underlying database doesn't store time zone information.
    The following example retrieves a date value in GMT-Greenwich Mean Time.
    ResultSet rs;
    TimeZone.setDefault(TimeZone.getTimeZone("GMT"));
    Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
    Date date2 = rs.getDate(1, cal);
    In the example above, a Calendar is passed explicitly to getDate() to inform the JDBC driver how to calculate the appropriate millisecond value. Note that the same result could have been achieved by simply changing the default time zone, and not passing the Calendar explicitly since the JDBC driver will use the default time zone by default.
    Note that the two Date objects created above will not compare as equal assuming that the default time zone is not GMT, even if they represent the `same' date.
    if (date1.equals(date2))
    //never get here
    This is because each Java language Date object really just wraps a normalized millisecond time value and these millisecond values will differ across time zones. If an application wishes to compare dates in different time zones it should first convert them to a Calendar.
    An application should create a Date object using a Calendar. The application is responsible for specifying the time as 00:00:00 on the desired date when using the Calendar since JDBC uses this convention. In addition when creating a Time value the application must specify a date of January 1, 1970 to the Calendar used to create the millisecond value for the Time as this is the convention specified by JDBC for time.

  • How to set the size of a JTabbedane to the size of the frame

    I have a tabbed pane in a frame, I would like to know how to set the size of the tabbed pane, so that it occupies the whole of the frame which has been set to screen size.
    Thanks

    Is it not possible to use it with a GridBagLayout?Your question was "How do I get a tabbed pane to take all the space of the frame"?
    You where given the answer. Did you try it? Did it work? Then why are you questioning the suggestion?
    Its one line of code if you use a BorderLayout which by the way was specifically designed for this purpose.
    Yes you can do it with a GridBagLayout with about 5 lines of code.
    So the question is why would you want to write 5 lines of code when you can use one?
    If your question was "How do I waste my time forcing the GridBagLayout to size a component to take up all the space of the frame", then you would have received a different answer. (Although most people would have told you to use a BorderLayout anyway, since its easier).

  • How to set the frame size?

    Hi,
    Can some one show me how to set the frame size in this program? History: I have created a window and added a button but its to small. So I want to increase the size of the frame to at least 600X400 pixel.
    private static void showGUI() {
            //Create and set up the window.
            JFrame frame = new JFrame("ButtonDemo");
            frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            //Create and set up the content pane.
            Main newContentPane = new Main();
            newContentPane.setOpaque(true); //content panes must be opaque
            frame.setContentPane(newContentPane);
            //Display the window.
            frame.pack();
            frame.setVisible(true);
        }It would be nice if you could show me how to do it.
    Thank you very much for reading this.

    Challenger wrote:
    Simply adding
    frame.setSize(new Dimension(600,400));to the end of your code should work perfectly.Or, if you want to do it correctly, .setPreferredSize() on your frame before you .pack() it. The default layout manager for JFrame is BorderLayout, which uses the preferredSize of each component to calculate sizes during the .pack() call.

    Hi,
    is it ADF bound? If so then you set the default value to the list binding in the PageDef file. The value of the component must be bound to a method expression, which is why you see an exception. However, I think we need more information

    When I click on one menu item then i will get one new Swing Window.
    When creating the new frame I had passed Modal value as TRUE in the constructer.Now child is not behaving as Modal Window.I mean I am able to go to parent window even though the child window is opened as a Modal Window.This is only happened when I double click on the Title Bar of the Parent Window.
    If I try to click on any other part of the Parent Window except Title bar ... the child window is working as a Modal Window.

    f.getContentPane().add(myJPanel, BorderLayout.CENTER);
    f.setBounds(x,y,w,h);

  • How to set the 'Configuration Bits' in the PIC16F84

    I am using the PIC16F84 in a circuit and I'm programming the assembly for the PIC.  However I can't figure out how to set the configuration bits.  For example I want to select the LP Oscillator, turn the WDT off, turn the PUT on, and turn the CP off.  Normally if I was using the IDE from Microchip I would add the line:
    _CONFIG H'3FF0'
    However Multsim does not recognize this as a valid code.  In addition the P16F84.inc file contains the following definitions:
    _CP_ON                       EQU     H'000F'
    _CP_OFF                      EQU     H'3FFF'
    _PWRTE_ON                 EQU     H'3FF7'
    _PWRTE_OFF                   EQU     H'3FFF'
    _WDT_ON                      EQU     H'3FFF'
    _WDT_OFF                     EQU     H'3FFB'
    _LP_OSC                      EQU     H'3FFC'
    _XT_OSC                      EQU     H'3FFD'
    _HS_OSC                      EQU     H'3FFE'
    _RC_OSC                      EQU     H'3FFF'
    What is the code though to select which options you want to use?

    Try this code:
    _CONFIG _CP_OFF & _PWRITE_ON & _WDT_OFF & _LP_OSC
    I tried this in the assembler and it didn't return any error messages when compiling. I found this in a PIC Book that I downloaded off the internet.
    I hope it works for you. I am new to the MCU Module and learning about it so don't consider me an expert on it by a long shot.
