How to setup PS Elements as default editor for LR4?

Hi all,
I have both PS5 and Elements 10 installed on my computer. Lightroom 4 selected automatically PS5 as my default editor. I am planning to switch completely to Elements 10, so I would prefer to have this program as my default editor. Unfortunately I do not see how to do this. Lightroom only allows me to setup additional editor and this option I am already using for Topaz Fusion Express. So my goal is to replace PS5 with Elements 10 as primary (default) editor. How to achieve this?

When Photoshop Lightroom starts, it checks to see if Photoshop is installed. If it can't find Photoshop, it checks to see if Photoshop Elements is installed. If it can't find either, Photoshop Lightroom disables the Edit In Photoshop command. The Additional External Editor command is not affected.
If you uninstalled Photoshop CS4 after installing Photoshop CS5, some of the data required to Edit In Photoshop could have been removed. Reinstalling Photoshop CS5 fixes this issue.
On Windows, Photoshop Lightroom checks for the Photoshop.exe or PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe keys in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\ directory of the registry. These keys provide the file path to the applications.
On Mac OS, Photoshop Lightroom checks for the com.adobe.Photoshop.plist or com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist files in the user's preferences folder. These files provide the file path to the applications, as well as other OS-related information about the applications. The plist files on Mac OS are created the first time applications are started. The files are also created any time the application is started and the files are not present.
however you can have as many editors as you want as presets.
thought... only the two "primary" have a keyboard shortcut.

If you want to use nano as the default editor for all terminal-related stuff, add
export EDITOR="nano"
to your ~/.bashrc file.
Yaourt (like most cli programs) by default looks for the $EDITOR environment variable for your editor of choice. So if you change the value of that variable to 'nano', all those programs will use nano.

Default editor for `systemctl edit daemon `

Does anyone know how to set the default editor for systemctl edit?
The man page implies that you should set it in the systemctl Environment. However I have tried setting both the VISUAL and EDITOR environment variables with systemctl set-environment VISUAL=<my editor> and neither seems to have any effect. I have confirmed that the variables are set with systemctl show-environment, however no matter what I do whenever I run systemctl edit <daemon unit> it always defaults to GNU nano.
Anyone have any luck with this? I can't find anything that can explain this online or in the man pages.

I set my environment variables in .zshenv or .profile and systemctl picks this up and opens service files in Vim when I use the edit command.
This is consistent with the man page:
$SYSTEMD_EDITOR
Editor to use when editing units; overrides $EDITOR and $VISUAL. If neither $SYSTEMD_EDITOR nor $EDITOR nor $VISUAL are present or if it is set

How to configure and set a default view for contents of a data set

Here is my scenario:
I have a document library where each item is a "Plan". "Plan" is of a custom content type that inherits from a Document Set content type but has some additional attributes such as Plan Type. Inside each Plan, each item is
a Plan Document which is of custom content type Plan Document which inherits from Document content type but has some additional attributes e.g. Document Status.
So the hierarchy is:
All Plans (document library)
Plan 1 (custom content type that inherits from Document Set but also has a "Plan Type" attribute)
Plan Document (custom content type that inherits from Document but also has a "Document Status" attribute
When I click on the document library, I want to see all the folders (e.g. Plan 1) where one of the columns will be "Plan Type"
When I click on an individual Plan (e.g. Plan 1) I want to see the contents of that custom document set. At this point, since this page shows contents of one document set, I want to see the column "Document Status" but NOT Plan Type since
Plan Type applies to the document set as a whole, not to an individual item in that document set.
However, I don't think I have it set up correctly because right now the "Plan Type" column is visible both on the list of all document sets AND on the page that shows the contents of one document set.

However, I don't want to customize the Welcome Page as a whole, I just want to customize the columns that are displayed on the list of content of this document set.

I finally found the answer:
At the document library level, create a new view to use when displaying the files in the document set
Go to the document library settings
Select your custom content type (in my case it was "Plan")
In the next screen select Document Set settings
Select your newly created view at the Welcome Page View section
Press Ok
Now the default All Documents view will be shown when displaying all the document sets and the newly created view will be displayed when viewing one document set with the files within.

Navigate to a .doc file.
Ctrl click the file
Choose Open with and then go down the list, past pages, to other
Navigate to pages
Before you click Open make sure you click the 'Always open with' check box.
You should be okay.
You can do a similar think by selecting the file, Choosing File-Get Info
Then open the Open With Disclosure triangle.
select pages and then click CHANGE ALL

you need to "Get Info" on the file first. Select it, right click and select 'Get Info' in the menu.
In the window that pops up, near the bottom, the "Open With" drop down menu needs changed. If the drop down menu does not present the one you want, select "Other" and find it.

The last version of Elements that I owned was Elements 6. I designated it as the default program for .jpg files, and when I'd double-click on a photo, it would open in Elements. I've tried to do the same in 12, but when I double click on the photo, it opens Elements, but the photo isn't there. What have I done wrong?

Windows, and I figured out the problem. For anyone else who is experiencing this, you have to choose PhotoShopElementsEditor to associate with the .jpg files, not just Photo Shop Elements.

I want to use Notepad or wordpad as a default editor in oracle forms for every text item that is placed in my module.
To get it i have already done the following things :
1.In the default.env file i added a new line
FORMS_EDITOR=C:\WINDOWS\system32\notepad.exe
2. In the regedit
i added a new string variable FORMS_EDITOR in the following path
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KEY_ORACLE10gds\FORMS_EDITOR
Value_data : C:\WINDOWS\system32\notepad.exe
3. InORACLE forms Builder
EDIT->Preference->General_tab->check the use System_editor
But all this doesn't work.Stile if i press ctrl+E it shows the default editor not my notepad as a editor.

I use several sites that employ pop-ups. The default size is too small, so I have to manually enlarge each pop-up. How can I set the default size for pop-ups to a larger size. I don't want them maximized, just larger than the default.

A pop-up should fit normally unless you are zooming images or text or increasing elements otherwise.
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a (too) high value can cause issues.

It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with overlapping text.

Yes, it can be done - and as such, it is the best 'free' html editor for the mac, by far.
design and publish your web page with iWeb. In the end, if you are going to paste the html in an email or some such thing, simpler is better. but don't be afraid to include graphics and colors . . . everything that probably doesn't require javascript (because the email clients are definitely not going to render that).
then . . . .
- download the source of the page. (here after referred to as FileName.html)
- replace any of the local links with the full http:// prefix - especially for images. (this can be done quickly with a simple find and replace)
- download the css for the page (naming convention is FileName_files/FileName.css in the same directory as the FileName.html file )
- use the emogirphy tool at pelago design to merge the css style sheet with the html to create inline style tags for the html http://www.pelagodesign.com/sidecar/emogrifier/
that's it, now you have perfectly useable html that doesn't require style sheets, which you can use for sending emails, or archiving on your own computer. . . whatever you need.

now I'd like to create an iPad app using Flash Builder (ActionScript only). but I fail to load the compiled IPA to the ipad, keep getting different errormessages thus i think something with my projectsetup is wrong

Yes, in Terminal you type a single line which is made from the path to the adt application, some parameters, and paths to other documents. Here's the full list of things:

That "-C" line is clever, it does a directory change to the folder you give it, so after the -C /location/to/swf part it will then look in that same folder for other documents, and for where to build the IPA file.

PS Elements as the editor for Lightroom??

Is anyone using PSE 6.0 as the editor for Lightroom? I am considering it because it is much less expensive than a CS3 upgrade.
However, I am concerned about losing ProPhoto RGB as the color space between the two. Is this a legitimate concern?
Any other recommendations out there?

When you say upgrade... do you have some version of Photoshop? I'm still using CS2 and it works with LR.
If you've used Photoshop a lot, I would definitely try out Elements first. Personally, I didn't care for it. Yes, quick fixes are easier, but you can do that in LR. But if I had to pay many hundreds for Photoshop and I wasn't tied to certain features or plugins for PS, my attitude toward Elements would change real fast.

How do you globally change the default program for opening photo files?

I want to adjust my system so that when I double click a photo file, Preview does not automatically launch. I work in Photoshop all the time and would prefer that it be the default program for pictures. I have already changed the "when you insert a picture CD" command in CD's & DVD's in System preferences but this does not have any effect on when I double click on a picture file to open it; Preview always launches and opens the picture there. That automatic opening behavior is fine but I need it to happen in Photoshop.

Assuming your pictures are all .jpg files: select any .jpg by clicking once on it in the Finder, then press Command+I to Get Info about it. In the Open With: section of the Get Info window, change the preferred application from Preview to Photoshop, then click the Change All button.
Now any .jpg file that you double-click will open in Photoshop.
