How to show image from database file name?

Reports version 10.1.2.3
OS: Windows server 2003
Client: Windows XP
Can someone please explain how to include an image in a .PDF report that is located on the file system and its location is read from the database? I've read the doc and it's not very clear.

Suppose that for each of your employees you have a .bmp file that contains a picture of the employee. In your employee table, you have a column named PICTURE that contains the name of the .bmp file with the employee's picture.
To generate a report that displays the employees' pictures, you select the PICTURE column in your query. In the Column properties for the PICTURE column, you set Read from File to Yes and specify Image as the File Format. Reports Builder will display the files pointed to by the PICTURE column wherever you have referenced the PICTURE column in your layout.

There is nothing special to do - you execute the statement from your program just like any other SQL statement. The only thing to be aware of are the privilege/permission issues:
When loading from a file on a client computer:
READ CLIENT FILE privilege is also required for the database user.
Read privileges are required on the directory being read from.
The allow_read_client_file database option must be enabled.
The read_client_file secure feature must be enabled.
Revoking these privileges is also the only way you can prevent a user from executing the statement.

How to use image from a file in signature appearance.

I am creating a Plugin for acrobat 9, using PubSec using DocSign sample as basis. I have created the appearance using text objects and the logos data that came with the DocSign sample. But I want to use image from a file (like, jpg) in the signature appearance creation. So far the documentation doesnt tell how to achieve this.
Can you please tell me in a "How-to" kinda way to achieve this?

Showing image from database

Hi,
can anyone tell/give me an example/tutorial of how to retrieve the image from the database into forms? so i have a table names EMPLOYEES for example, and i added a clob type column, named "photo". in forms, when i show the informations for each person, i wanna already retrieve the image, somehow. how can i do this? a small example i think will be persuasive :)

The application requirement is to display image retrived from uploaded xml file in file upload section of our application. And store that image in database.
In my XML file , images & strings & numbers & booleans are there . I am able to save everything in database except images .
I am using JSF, Seam & Hibernate combination. In my Hibernate entity class i took BLOB datatype for image.
I am using following tags in my Xhtml file to display image

Help........Show image from database

Hi,
I am stuck at one point. I have to show image stored in the database on the browser. I am able to fetch the image and show it after storing it in one .gif file. But what I want it is : I don't want to store the fetched image in to a .gif file instead I would like to show the image on the fly after fetching it from the database.
The reason I need it this way is...If I store it as .gif before showing, after showing the file the file still will be present in the disk, which after sometime will go beyond the limit.
If at all it is not possible to show it on the fly, then I would like to know if there is any "SESSION ON END" kind of even available in Java so that I can clean up the image when user exits the browser!!!

only thing you are showing on the browser.. then
you can stream the data (I think I never tried with
gifs)

I have created one region its actually search region
which having 5 items and result table region
I want to search records based on that 5 items and want to show output in table
I have table name as hr_api_transactions which contains lot of columns
and that table also contain one column
name as TRANSACTION_DOCUMENT of type CLOB()
that columns xml files for each record
I want to extract data from that xml file and want to display.

I have created one region on seeded page
in that region I have created one table for output
that region is search region
which having 5 items of textfield and 2 items of type submit button
GO and Clear
I want to search based on that 5 items
I want to display records in table that I have created on that region
I have one seeded table
that contain one column
that column contain xml file for each individual records
that xaml file contains values what I want to display
MY problems are
how can I extract data from xml file?
how can I show all values for each records on that table?
how can I search based on that 5 items?
now I am able to find out single value from that XML file
by using SQL command

How to show image from within a symbol

Howdy,
EA, Win7
I've imported an img on to my stage, converted it to a symbol (and unchecked autoplay).
Then I deleted the img from the stage, the symbol w/img still remains in the Assets > Symbols section.
What I want to do now is simply have the img (that's inside the symbol) appear when I click on a button/text.
Is this possible? I've tried...
sym.getSymbol("image").show(); where "image" is the name of the symbol
but this doesn't work. What am I missing?

Looked over the Edge API and it's kinda vague on how to interact with symbols. There's nothing that specifically says 'A symbol must have an instance on the main timelline in order to interact with it'. The API seems to make the assumption that that people automatically know that. Yet when I see something like the following from the Edge JSAPI...
Access a symbol timeline from the main stage
To access the timeline of a symbol from the main stage, use the following in your event:
// Play the symbol timeline sym.getSymbol("symbolName").play();
...it makes me think that I can just call up the symbol on to the the main stage without having an instance of the symbol already on the stage/timeline.
Would be curious to know where in the API it mentions that in order to interact with symbols they must have an instance on the main timeline/stage.

In a Portal form , there is a field named ID wherein a value is entered. Say the value entered is 5 , how can we get the image named 5.jpg
from C:/images/ folder and get it displayed in the form ? The images are not stored in the database . Depending on the ID field value , we
have to retrieve the image.

1> I created a procedure named get_image in the application schema as :-

You basically save a File to the database, so you can just re-write the data from the file back temporarily and load it into the application using the ImageIO class

I am loading this .txt file (OUS_RAW_NYC_05_2011.txt) into an internal table i_raw.
I want to pick out the NYC characters from the file name and fill it as value for <wa_raw>-field1 for all records.

I only want the characters HCM from file_str.
When I execute this code below:
    MOVE file_str TO org_unit.
    WRITE / org_unit+37(12).

my output is = //rdm
how do i extract out HCM?

Can any one help us regarding How to fecth the Date column(or month column) from the file name specified in the path in a generalized way .
For example :
file name is :subscribers (Cost) Sep13.csv is specified in the below path
E:\Accounting\documents\subscribers (Cost) Sep13.csv
here I need to fetch the "Sep13" as a Date column in the ODI 11g in the generalized way.
Can any one help us in this case as early as possible.

I would suggest using a piece of Jython code for this. Something like this...

filelist = os.listdir(E:\Accounting\documents\)
for file in filelist:
datestr = file[19:-4]
You'd need to work out what to do with datestr next... perhaps write it to a table or update an ODI variable with it.
