I assume you use Flex Builder. There is a UI that will let create a certificate when you try to export the AIR file.
If you are using ADT directly. Use the '-certificate' option to create a PFX file.

• How to Play/Pause All for Adobe Air Application using AS3 in Flash CS4?

I am new to Flash and I'm creating an educational application in AS3 in Flash CS4 for Adobe Air. I want to use buttons to play and pause all content (movieclips AND sound).
I have created play and pause buttons that worked by switching the frame rate between 0 and 20, unfortunately I've realised that it's never really 0fps but rather 0.01fps and so it continues playing, albeit very very slowly. Also this doesn't affect the audio; I have set sound files to Stream which are synced to movieclips on their timelines, but even when the application is set to 0fps the audio continues.
Since I have various levels with numerous movieclips each with synced audio, what i'd like is to be able to do is pause absolutely everything within each movieclip with one button and to be able to resume from the same place using another button. Is this possible? If not, is there a global function to pause/resume the entire application/program?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Its possible but you would need to tell each movieclip and audioclip to play/pause. You can create a for loop inside your mouse event function to find each movieclip and pause/play its timeline and a separate for loop for audio clips. Also instead of setting fame rate to 0 for pause just use a stop() command.

• Adobe Air Application Installer.exe Documentation

Hello All,
i am having severe problems retrieving the documentation for "Adobe Air Application Installer.exe"
We have applied as Publisher for Air Apps here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/air/runtime_distribution1.html
and filled out the form
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=air_distribution2
After that we were hoping to receive documentation about seamless install of air applications, but we are waiting right now ...
So, time is running out, and i need the documentation of the "Adobe Air App Installer.exe"
So far i have managed to silently install an air app:
'$1 -silent -programMenu -location "$INSTDIR" "$TEMP\AirApp.air"' $0
Where $1 is the "Adobe Air Installer.exe" retrieved from the registry
$INSTDIR is the installation target path
$TEMP is a temporary folder, containing the to install Air Application
the above command works fine for clean and empty systems with no prior versions of the application installed.
what i now miss are the return code meanings, ranging from 0..9 where i only know that 0 means success !
And i would like to have a documentation about the
-update
and the
-uninstall
parameters for seamless installation/deinstallation of a whole air app with data

hi there,
i got the documentation also, dunno why they make it so hard
to get it
thank you very much !
greets from joymoney

I was also facing this problem.
Today I got this

• Adobe AIR Application Installer command-line

Could someone provide the command-line reference (parameters
and usage) for Adobe AIR Application Installer?
Tks!

Hey Oliver!
I've applied for an AIR distribution license but I still have
some doubts.
My application is based in one .air component and another one
service created using C++. So, in order to install my application,
I need to install both applications. I've used the bundled
installation mentioned in the distribution docs, but it is not the
best solution for my problem. I would like to have just one entry
point in the “Add/Remove Programs” applet.
Is there another way to deliver the .air application (e.g.
not using the Adobe AIR Application Installer)?
For example, is it possible get all files needed to create my
.air file and install them without creating the .air file properly?
I mean, is there any license or technical restrictions that
invalidate this approach?
Thanks!

• What code signing certificate has to be added for Adobe Air Native Installer?

Hi,
I'm developing Adobe Air application. I need to digitally verify the application to add the publisher's name with the product. I did a little research and came to know that Symantec, Thawte, Comodo, Comodo-Tucows, Digicert, Godaddy and couple of others are doing this.
Yes. I'm talking about the Code Signing Certificate. My question is, What code signing certificate has to be added for Adobe Air Native Installer? The reason is, The native installer will have an extension .exe ( Windows ) and .dmg ( MAC OS X ).
These guys are providing certificate for Adobe Air. For instance, If the application is exported using Native Installer in Windows, The application will have an .exe extension. For this, Can I use the same Adobe Air code signing certificate or Should I go for Microsoft Autheticode ( for .exe ) certificate?
Thanks in advance.

I think comodo code signing certificate is one of the nice option to be added for Adobe Air, as i have seen comodo code signing certificate in other adobe programs. Recently i bought comodo code signing from https://cheapsslsecurity.com/comodo/codesigningcertificate.html, to sign one of my adobe application and it works fine, you can use microsoft authenticode technology with comodo code signing.

• TC Publisher ID for Adobe AIR - easier signing certificate?

I'm was about to go through the burning hoop that is the
signing certificate, when I found a link to Chosen Security's
TC Publisher ID for Adobe AIR. I'm having a hard time finding
any info on it other than their press release though.
Has anyone obtained one of these? Its it easier than a thawte
signing certificate?
What documents are required?

I just purchased a TC Publisher ID certificate and am a little stumped in getting AIR to publish with it.
The TrustCenter marketing site's only instructional material for this product, as far as I can tell, is a link to the Adobe docs on using certificates: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/devappsflex/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7ff0. html
There's a little more info in this dev article, but not much: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/articles/signing_air_applications_03.html
Both these resources focus on Thawte certificates as a use case, and don't mention what to do if you're using OS X and a TC Publisher ID.
In my own experience, I downloaded the cert directly to my downloads folder from the TrustCenter site. The certificate was instantly picked up by the OS X keychain. I used the Keychain Access app to export a .p12 certificate file from the keychain for use in publishing the AIR app, but I get an "Error creating AIR file: unable to build a valid certificate chain for the signer" when trying to publish with Flex Builder. Without any docs to turn to, I'm stumped.
For people more experienced with keys and certificates this operation might be a no-brainer, but for somebody who is just getting into this there's not much support for the purchase-to-publish process.

• How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

If the data is on a remote server (for example, PHP running on a web server, talking to a MySQL server) then you do this in an AIR application the same way you would do it with any Flex application (or ajax application, if you're building your AIR app in HTML/JS).
That's a broad answer, but in fact there are lots of ways to communicate between Flex and PHP. The most common and best in most cases is to use AMFPHP (http://amfphp.org/) or the new ZEND AMF support in the Zend Framework.
This page is a good starting point for learning about Flex and PHP communication:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/flex_php.html
Also, in Flash Builder 4 they've added a lot of remote-data-connection functionality, including a lot that's designed for PHP. Take a look at the Flash Builder 4 public beta for more on that: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashbuilder4/

• RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR (BETA)

It is so exciting. It been just a few months since we
released Adobe RoboHelp 7 and a brand new Technical Communication
Suite, and today we are ready to share with you guys what we
perceive as the future of Online Help. All I can say is that Time
flies like an arrow. With this, I welcome you all to this new world
of Web 2.0 and the future of Online Help - check out the Public
Beta of
RoboHelp
Packager for Adobe AIR
The tool is available for Free of Cost and can be used by
customers who have either Adobe RoboHelp 6 or Adobe RoboHelp 7 or
the Technical Communication Suite.
The RoboHelp Packager for Adobe® AIR™ allows you
to convert your existing WebHelp files generated using Adobe
RoboHelp® to an Adobe AIR application. Help and knowledge
bases delivered as Adobe AIR application will have a consistent
look and feel across all platforms.
RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR can:
Generate a single distributable file
similar to a .chm file.
Provide a variety of skins from which a user can choose from.
In addition, for any skin a user can choose different themes, which
control the look and feel in terms of colors and button/icons
images.
Provide a consistent look and feel on all platforms and
operating systems.
Enable you to comment, in addition to using other advanced
features such as Breadcrumbs, Mini TOC and Security (Digital
Signatures).
The output generated after running this tool is an .air file.
This is a single file that has built-in logic to install itself.
The same file can be installed on any platform that has Adobe®
AIR installed. Installing the Adobe AIR runtime is as seamless as
installing the Adobe Flash® Player for your browsers.
Another important aspect of the Adobe AIR installer file is
that it is a single file that contains all of the information
regarding the look and feel of the Help along with the content. It
is one package with no separate viewer required.
To read more about the benefits of packaging your help as
.air file, please visit the following link:
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/robohelp/aboutoutput.html

When you are comparing this to Flash, does this comparison
extend to the requirement for each end user to install the Air
runtime on their PCs before they can access our RoboHelp system?
And that they will also get reminders to update to the latest
version of Air runtime?

• How to get digital signature for Google Map geocoding V3 in PL/SQL?

Hi, Gurus:
Could anyone provide me an example about how to generate digital signature for Google Maps service v3 in PL/SQL? We tried to upgrade our program using Google maps service from v2 to v3. • How to save the date in Sqlite in Adobe Air application

hi friends,
i am doing a flex Adobe AIR Application with SQLITE Data base,in that i want to save Date in the following format DD/MM/YYYY, but in my TABLE i gave the data type is DATE,
So it store the value like this Sun Dec 2 00:00:00 GMT+0530 2012.i want to store the value in DD/MM/YYYY.How to do that?
looking for useful suggession.
Cheers,
B.venkatesan.

Hi, maybe cannot help much on this since I have not much experiense on handling SQLITE in AIR.
But I know there are a command/example for reading SQL:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/data/SQLConnectio n.html
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/dev/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7d49.html
And in mxml you should have an id for each individual TextInput component, also have a button:

When the button is click the handler function is launched.
The updateSQLHandler(event:MouseEvent) is a script that read the each individual TextInput component by getting (id of textinput component).text.
Then, you create a String varible that is an SQL commands with the texts in the form, and update the SQL database following the below using the execute() command (refer to http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/dev/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7d49.html ).
Hope this help.

• RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR - Beta 2 Announced

RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR is now updated. You can
download the new version for FREE from Adobe labs -
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/robohelp/.
It has added a long list of novel features - first time for a HATT.
Now, besides multiple tabs, favorites, commenting and multiple
skins like Multi-Tab Accordion and Uni-pane Help, you have another
set of new features.
Designed for End Customers - Adobe AIR based Help templates
have been designed keeping in view the end customer. They have some
high-end navigation features like Mini TOC, Breadcrumbs, etc. Apart
from these capabilities, the new Adobe AIR based Help also empowers
the end customers to customize the Help. An end customer can set
their own preferences and customize Help as desired.
Compelling Rich Branded Experience- RoboHelp Packager for
Adobe AIR provides a compelling rich user experience. It includes
templates that help authors package the same content into three
completely different styles – Multi-Tab Accordion, Uni-Pane
or the Classic Tri-Pane Help. Apart from this it also helps the
Authors brand the Help as per Corporate Branding Guidelines. It
provides support for the addition of a Company Logo and a Punch
line in the main Help window. Apart from this it also provides an
About Box in the Help that details the version, description,
copyrights, logos etc.
Auto Update -Adobe AIR based Help applications provide an
Auto Update feature using which updates can be pushed to all
installed connected versions of Help. Usually, the Help content
bundled with the application is never updated, while the web
content is updated with current feature enhancements and additional
resources. Adobe AIR based Help provides you with the option to
publish updates for your end users at a common server location. The
Adobe AIR based Help is intelligent enough to check for updates and
prompts users to apply updates when it detects a new version is
available.
Review Workflows / Personalization of Help
Adobe AIR based help files can be configured in such a way
that you can add comments to topics and publish those comments at a
common location. This feature enables a complete review workflow,
whether or not the reviewer is a part of your group/organization.
* Reviewers within your network: Reviewers can publish their
comments to an XML file on a shared folder. They can also
synchronize the comments from other reviewers on the same network.
This enable multiple reviewers to simultaneously view the comments
being made by other reviewers as they review.
* Reviewers outside your network: You can send the .air file
to these reviewers who can then export their comments to an XML
file and send it to you. You can import these comments into your
Adobe AIR application.
Apart from the rewire workflow, the feature is designed to
help an end customer personalize Help by adding comments on the
same. These comments will not be uploaded to the server, however
can be exported to a file and shred with friends over email.
New Classic help Template - A new template called Classic
Help has been added. It is named Classic because it is a Tri-Pane
Help. Apart from that it has got all the power of any other Adobe
AIR based Help template. This template has a new feature called
“How do I” that lists all the browse sequences defined
in the WebHelp. We recommend that authors design their browse
sequences in such a way that they provide complete workflow
information to end customers.
Supports Packaging of Merged WebHelp- RoboHelp Packager for
Adobe AIR now supports merged WebHelp. If an author specifies the
WebHelp folder of a Master project, the Packager is intelligent
enough to detect and convert all referenced projects in the Master
Project. However, one needs to be careful while using this feature.
It doesn’t provide as much flexibility as Merged WebHelp. A
new Package needs to be created every time even when you update any
of the sub projects.
In Beta 2, zoom works flawlessly and search results has been
further improved.
If you have not tried the RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR,
you can download it now for FREE (Adobe RoboHelp 7 required).

Thank you best regards, SnakeMedia

Dear Star Traveler, Thanks for your reply. I checked out the support document link you provided but all it really did for me was reinforce the idea that I'm not thinking in a helpful manner about how iCloud operates in connection with my Mac as well as devices like my iPad. The mechanism I had used to get photos into iCloud from my iPad was that I had already had them in an album which the system labeled "My Photo Stream". I used the "iCloud" section of the iPad to turn off the iCloud and it asked if I wanted to store the photos in iCloud I think. When I answered yes, that's when the troublesome deed occurred. Luckily it did not delete any photos which I had in any other album nor did it delete any photos which I have in the main "Photos" directory nor in "Camera Roll". All it did was allegedly transfer photos which were in "My Photo Stream" to the iCloud, deleting the photo stream in the process. Naively I then thought that those photos which had been in the photo stream would then appear when I logged into iCloud and searched around. I now believe however that I never did "create" a PHOTO directory in iCloud and maybe that is why they aren't there. However, when I try to do that, I am unable to unless I have iOS 8 and/or Yosemite. Agree or disagree?? But getting back to the way I think about the iCloud, I always thought of it as an external storage back up drive which was independent of any device or computer/Mac. Now, it seems that's not the case AND even worse, files can get deleted without you knowing about it or approving the specific deletion first!! Why is iCloud not compatible with former versions of iOS and OS X??? That does not make sense to me. What would you recommend if I want greater specific control over which files get stored in iCloud and which do not?????

• What Technology used for Adobe AIR Installer

Hi...Guys..For Mac environment what technology was used to built Adobe AIR Installer Window,the one we get when Installing Adobe AIR Application.I need to identify the Elements in it such as Agree,Cancel etc..But i am not able to do that..It will be helpful if any one suggest the automation tool to identify those elements so that i can automate the installation procedure of AIR...Plz reply...its an emergency..thanks in advance.

• How to Enable Auto Update functionality in adobe AIR application?

Hi All,
How to Enable Auto Update functionality in adobe AIR application and ask for new version to install to user.
Please provide some informarion regarding above topic.
Thanks,
Sunil Rana

Hi All,,
Got solution. call checkUpdate() function in application level initialize event.
private function checkUpdate() : void
appUpdater.updateURL = "http://www.aa.com/flex/aa/NativeUpdater.xml";
appUpdater.addEventListener(UpdateEvent.INITIALIZED, updater_initializedHandler);
//we can hide the dialog asking for permission for checking for a new update;
//if you want to see it just leave the default value (or set true).
appUpdater.isCheckForUpdateVisible = false;
//we initialize the updater
appUpdater.initialize();
* Handler function for updater_initializedHandler events triggered by the ApplicationUpdater.INITIALIZED
* @param updater_initializedHandler
protected function updater_initializedHandler(event:UpdateEvent):void
//initializeHandler();
appUpdater.checkNow();
In NativeUpdater.xml

<update xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/framework/update/description/1.0">
<version>2.0</version>

* This a Win update

</update>
Upload NativeUpdater.xml file on your Server. When you open your old .air file it will ask for replace with new version.
Thanks,
Sunil Rana
