How to sign MIDlet so it wont confirm before read/write file operation ?
hi there,
i am developing application which reads mp3 files from the songs folder. but at each run of my application it ask the confirmation to Allow to read and write file to application.
how can i othorize or sign my MIDlet to overcome this problem ?
i m using Sony Z550i phone.
on some J2ME platforms you may have to sign the applet to set the option to Always Allow.
Under NetBeans all you have to do to sign the app is go to the Projects window, right click on the desired project, select Properties. A Project Properties window will pop-up. On the left hand side, near the bottom, select Signing. Select the check box labeled 'Sign Distribution'. By default there is a 'built-in keystore' that should work with many J2ME platforms but you can also generate your own keystores through the Security Manager.
If you wish to generate your own keys:
WARNING: may not work with all J2ME platforms if you are not able to authorize the key on the platform you wish to run it on.
Beside the 'Sign Distribution' checkbox there is a button labeled 'Open Security Manager'. There you click 'Add Keystore'. Fill in a password and it will create your keystore. Next, select the newly generated keystore and click the 'New' button to add keys to the keystore. Simply fill out the form and it will generate a key for you.
When you build using NetBeans it may ask you for the keystore and signing key passwords again, so make sure you use a password you will remember.

How to read write file in HTML5 extension
Hi,
I think it could be very generic question since moving from Flex to HTML5 extension is loosing ability to read write a file in local file system.
I'm trying to write a log file within extension space but It throws error as 'TypeError: Illegal constructor'
new File(csInterface.getSystemPath(SystemPath.EXTENSION)+"/log/Log_"+.getCurrentDateString+".txt");
does someone have solve for this.
Thanks in advance
MMYeah, It could be a reason for nested error but I got the error right before executing "getCurrentDateString". But I kind of figured it out as Javascript looses ability to read write file in user file system except Crome browser, you can read more here. However Adobe has added fs API within CEP which allows user to read and write file in user system.
Here is some peace of code on how to do it, complete API reference check here :
var result = window.cep.fs.writeFile(logFilepath, "Your data goes here");
if(result.err != 0)
throw new Error("Result object has error");
However still this does not provide any method to append the content in existing file as a result if you wanted to write kind of log file, every time you need to first read the file and then concatenate your content to file data then write data again to new file. sound hefty to append content?
I'm hoping if any Adobe staff has any comment on this.
Thanks

Configure Firefox to confirm before overwriting a file
I and most of the world's population do not have the best internet connection. At times it would manifest itself in a download that never finish and has to be manually canceled. The problem arises when after a successful download instead of clicking the "open folder containing file" I accidentally click the "Retry" button from the failed download just below it.
Firefox would overwrite the successfully downloaded file without asking for a confirmation. This is especially vexing for larger files which has huge cost for the user both in wasted time and money.
While this can be avoided if the user has the "Always ask me where to save files" option selected, said option caused another hassle when downloading a large number of smaller files.
In short, my question is :
is there a way to ensure Firefox -always- asks for a confirmation before overwriting a file ?Hi maladore,
I suppose if this is a common problem there may be an addon or utility that addresses this problem already. Try searching for download managers.
* For addons look in <br />https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/download-management/
* For a brief feedback comment use <br /> https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/feedback
Someone may know of a good solution or addon.
You are in the wrong place if trying to suggest a Firefox enhancement, developers are not going to notice requests on this forum.
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox ''Help'' menu and select ''Submit Feedback...'' or use [https://input.mozilla.org/feedback this link]. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues. -

How to open a "manual" Physical standby database in read/write mode
Hi,
I am running Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production Standard Edition on Linux version 2.6.9-42.0.8.ELsmp ([email protected]) (gcc version 3.4.6 20060404 (Red Hat 3.4.6-3))
I've created a physical standby database, but since I am running Standard Edition, I am not using the DataGuard features. I use the rsync utility to copy over the archivelogs to the standby database, and I apply them periodically to the standby database.
The standby database is started this way :
startup nomount pfile='/u01/oradata/orcl/initorcl.stdby';
alter database mount standby database;
Everything runs perfectly fine, I can do "alter database open read only" and then I can do selects into tables to confirm that everything is up to date.
The thing is, if I shutdown immediate the database, then do just startup :
shutdown immediate;
startup;
The database opens with no error messages, but is still in read-only mode...
I read that the default behavior for a standby database is to open read-only, like I am experiencing, but I would like to know what is the right way to open it correctly in read-write mode (I understand that after that, my standby will not be standby anymore and that I will have to recreate my standby database).
Thanks,
MatHello,
There're features which allows you to open a Standby database in Read/Write mode but for all I know
it needs Entreprise Edition.
In Enterprise Edition you can use Logical Standby database. More over, for Physical standby there's
a way by using flashback database so as to rolling backward the database and avoiding to recreate
the Standby.
In Standard Edition I'm afraid that you'll have to recreate your Standby database.
Best regards,
Jean-Valentin -
How to set up fire fox to confirm before deleting a bookmark
When I delete a bookmark, it disappear immediately. I want it to ask me if am sure I want to delete, to prevent deleting something I don't want to delete, by accident
No, you can't get a warning before deleting bookmarks.<br />
If you notice too late and already have restarted Firefox then you will have to restore from a daily JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

Urgent.. How to add a menubar to a frame by reading a file
Hi All,
I am involved in a project where in i need to add a menubar to the frame by reading a text file. The text file consists of all the Menu Items and subMenu items.This text file will be a editable file where-in the user can add his own menu-items.
i.e when i run the java program i should read the menu items from a file and then display those menuitems in the Menubar.
I am not getting the idea how i should proceed. Can any one help.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Ravi KumarSorry again - my use of i as an array index wasn't very clever. The post should have been as follows:
Hi,
You can read in the menu names from the file and add them fairly simply, with something like this:
JMenuBar jmb = new JMenuBar();
JMenu myMenu = new Jmenu("Custom");
jmb.add(myMenu);
in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("file.txt"));
JMenuItem [] menulist = new JMenuItem[MAXITEMS];
for (int j=0; j < MAXITEMS; j++) {
menulist[j] = new JMenuItem(in.readLine());
myMenu.add(menulist);
Then add the JMenuBar to the parent frame.
However, for the menus to be of much use, you'd need to add actionlisteners to them as well.
If you had a set of possible menu items, and it was just a question of which order the user's file defined them in, and which it used, you could then just test the name of each item in the file and assign an appropriate class of actionlistener to it, something like:
if(menuitem.getText().equals("Open")) {
menuitem[j].addActionListener(new OpenActionListener());
where you'd defined the OpenActionListener class somewhere else.
Hope this helps,
Neil

How can i change control values based on a read-in file?
I understand that controls only have outputs and indicators only have inputs, but I'm looking for some help creating code that has the capabilities of both. Specifically and ideally, my front panel would allow the user to select an old spreadsheet file to read, and those values from the spreadsheet would be displayed. The user could then tweak those values to their liking, and then submit those tweaked values as a new file/overwrite the old/etc. The important part is the the indicating and controlling of the read in values.
thanks
Solved!
Go to Solution.Using a local variable works well if I want to view and change a single value, but I want to view and change a few different values that are to be read in from a speadsheet. I have tried creating an array and then inserting numeric controls into the array, on the front panel. The code will run, but there is no output to the array control. I can't for the life of me pinpoint where the issue is.
Is inserting multiple numeric controls into the array, not a good idea? Should I just create 3 separate numeric controls and local variables to get around this?

How to read, write file inside the JAR file?
Hi all,
I want to read the file inside the jar file, use following method:
File file = new File("filename");
It works if not in JAR file, but it doesn't work if it's in a JAR file.
I found someone had the same problem, but no reply.
http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=22&thread=180618
Can you help me ? I have tried this for all night !
Thanks in advance
LeoIf you want to read a file from the JAR file that the
application is packaged in (rather than a separate
external JAR file) you do it like this ...
InputStream is =
ClassLoader.getSystemResourceAsStream("filename");Better to use
this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream();
From a class near to where the data is. This deals with multiple classloaders properly. -

Using javascript to call a signed applet's read/write functions problem.
Hi, I wan't to use javascript to call the read/write functions of my signed java applet.
The applet can read/write fine, if its called from inside the applet, but when I make public functions to do the read/write and then call those functions from javascript, i get the old security exception.
Has anyone done this before?
ThanksFrom what I understand is that for example file IO can only be done if the current method
has this privilege and the stack that called the current method had this privilege.
Javascript doesn't have any privilege and calling methods that do file IO directly from
javascript should not work, this bug was fixed in 1.4.2.
The workarround AccessController.doPrivileged(new PrivilegedAction() { might allso be
fixed in later versions since changing the privileges of currently executing code is
someting that should not be possible when the currently executing code is called from
"untrusted" (javascript) code.

How to run duplicate fields with different read/write capability
Hello,
I'm trying to figure out how to have 2 identical fields but with different read / write capabilities. For example:
I have a document that has a policy number in textfield1 in the application. I also have a page footer textfield2 that is identically named as textfield1. I want the customer to be able to enter their policy number in textfield1, but then i want textfield2 to show that same information but remain locked and read-only.
How can I best accomplish this?
Thanks,
Ryan.Hi,
This doesn't seem to work.
My field names are policy_number and policy_number2.
I have entered this script into the field validation for policy_number2.
event.value = this.getField("policy_number").value;
It's showing blank in the policy_number2 field.

I just want to know how it could be, i want to save and read the file in the same vi,......?What exactly are you having trouble with. Unless you're not telling us something, it's easy. The Write LabVIEW Measurement has an output called File Name Out and Read labVIEW Measurement has an input called File Name. Wire the output to the input.

How a administrator user is different from read-write user in Aruba Central?
Q: How a administrator user is different from read-write user in Aruba Central?
A: Aruba Central allows administrator to create multiple user of different access levels to help manage the system. This access levels include:
read only
read/write
guest operator
NOTE: These access levels can be imposed on a specific "ap group" or a set of "ap groups" or all of them.
Therefore looking at the roles, many of the aruba central customers, had a question of how a administrator user is different from read-write user.
Administrator is the only user who can move access points between groups. Read/Write user Do Not Have Permission to execute this action.Hi,
I've managed to get what I needed by using a shift register + event structure as suggested by Adnan. However, I face another problem after implementing SR+event. I've attached two files, first the original program and second the updated program using SR + event. (it's only the jpg file as I've forgotten to save the labview program, will upload the program by tomorrow.
In the original program, I have an elapsed time that is able to run continuously when I run the program. In the updated program, my elapsed time don't seem to run continuously when I run the program (as shown by elapsed time indicator). I need the elapsed time to run continuously as a input to calculate my motor profile.
I suppose this is caused by the introduction of the event structure, will adding a case structure to wrap the event structure solve the problem or is there another way to get pass this. Appreciate if someone could drop me a pointer or two.
Thanks
