How to sort an internal table with a header line?

hi all,
i have declared table i_bseg type standard table of bseg with header line.
now i have populated data in i_bseg.
now i am sorting it by bukrs
ie i am writing sort i_bseg by bukrs.
before sorting all i_bseg-belnrs were populated...
but after sorting the contents of the i_bseg is changing.
some of the belnrs are getting deleted..
is there any special way to sort an internal table with header line...?

SORT <itab> [ASCENDING|DESCENDING] [AS TEXT] [STABLE].
The statement sorts the internal table <itab> in ascending order by its key. The statement always applies to the table itself, not to the header line.
If you have an internal table with a structured line type that you want sort by a different key, you can specify the key in the SORT statement:
SORT <itab> [ASCENDING|DESCENDING] [AS TEXT] [STABLE]
BY <f1> [ASCENDING|DESCENDING] [AS TEXT]
<fn> [ASCENDING|DESCENDING] [AS TEXT].
this is your sort statement: sort i_bseg by bukrs.
you try with this statement: sort i_bseg by bukrs STABLE.

There are several ways to declare an internal table without header line:
A) You can define a type table
TYPES: BEGIN OF TY_ITAB OCCURS 0,
        INCLUDE STRUCTURE ZTABLE.
TYPES: END   OF TY_ITAB.
and then your intrnal table:
DATA: ITAB TYPE TY_ITAB.
B) DATA: ITAB TYPE/LIKE STANDARD TABLE OF ZTABLE.
C) DATA: ITAB TYPE/LIKE ZTABLE OCCURS 0.
All these ways create a STANDARD TABLE
You can create other types of internal table, for example SORTED TABLE or HASHED TABLE.
These kinds of table can allow to improve the performance because they use different rules to read the data.
When it wants to manage a table without header line, it need a work area, it has to have the same structure of table.
DATA: WA LIKE ZTABLE.
DATA: T_ZTABLE LIKE STANDARD TABLE OF ZTABLE.
A) To insert the record:
If you use INTO TABLE option you don't need workarea
SELECT * FROM ZTABLE INTO TABLE T_ZTABLE
                                  WHERE FIELD1 = 'Z001'
                                    AND FIELD2 = '2006'.
but if you want to append a single record:
SELECT * FROM ZTABLE INTO wa WHERE FIELD1 = 'Z001'
                               AND FIELD2 = '2006'.
APPEND WA TO T_ZTABLE.
ENDSELECT.
Now you need workarea.
B) To read data: you need always a workarea:
LOOP AT T_ZTABLE INTO WA WHERE ....
WRITE: / WA-FIELD1, WA-FIELD2, WA-FIELD3.
ENDLOOP.
or
READ T_ZTABLE INTO WA WITH KEY FIELD3 = '0000000001'.
IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
WRITE: / WA-FIELD1, WA-FIELD2, WA-FIELD3.
ENDIF.
Anyway if you want to know only if a record exists, you can use the TRANSPORTING NO FIELDS option, in this case it doesn't need a workarea.
READ T_ZTABLE WITH KEY FIELD3 = '0000000001'
                                  TRANSPORTING NO FIELDS.
IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
WRITE 'OK'.
ENDIF.
C) To update the data: it always needs a workarea
LOOP AT T_ZTABLE INTO WA WHERE FIELD3 = '0000000001'.
WA-FIELD3 = '0000000002'.
MODIF T_ZTABLE FROM WA.
ENDLOOP.
or
READ T_ZTABLE INTO WA WITH KEY FIELD3 = '0000000001'.
IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
WA-FIELD3 = '0000000002'.
MODIF T_ZTABLE FROM WA INDEX SY-TABIX
ENDIF.
AT the end you can use the internal table to update database:
MODIFY/UPDATE/INSERT ZTABLE FROM T_ZTABLE.

How do I return a internal table with a method? I have the table GP1_PRODUCTS and want to return a copy of this table as an internal table called PRODUCTS.

You have to create a table type for your table GP1_PRODUCTS.
If you use global class (created in SE24), than:
Create a Table Type in SE11
Go to SE11, Enter a name like ZPRODUCTS in the Data Type
There will be popup when you press the Create button to decide a type. Select the Table Type
Enter GP1_PRODUCTS in the Line Type.

 returning
 value(PRODUCTS) type ZPRODUCTS.
If you use local class:
TYPES: ty_products type standard table of GP1_PRODUCTS..

How to create an internal table with a types structure?

Hi experts,
I've 3 internal tables with the same structure, I think I could put a type structure and put that type inside the body of the internal data, is this possible? If true, how can I put that?
Example:
TYPES: Begin of type_s,
               pernr like pa0001-pernr,
             end of type_s.
Data: begin of itab_1 occurs 0,
¿¿¿??? reference to type_s
         end of itab_1.

DATA: BEGIN OF ITAB_1 OCCURS 0.
INCLUDE STRUCTURE type_s.
DATA: END OF ITAB_1.
Otherwise like this.
types: Begin of type_s,
pernr like pa0001-pernr,
end of type_s.
Data: itab_1 type standard table of type_s.
Note: You have to create work area explicitly.

You can use the internal table without headerline and create a header for then internal table with the same structure. We need to use the header while manipulating with the data of the internal table.
example:
types: begin of ty_afpo,
 kdauf type kdauf,
 kdpos type kdpos,
 ltrmp type ltrmp,
 end of ty_afpo.
data : t_afpo type standard table of ty_afpo, " internal table declaration
 wa_afpo type ty_afpo. " work area declaration
<after populating the data into the internal table>
loop at t_afpo into wa_afpo.
write:/ wa_afpo-kdauf, wa_afpo-kdpos, wa_afpo-ltrmp.
endloop.
This I think shall give you a basic understanding of how things work.

Any info on how to create a dynamic internal table along with columns(fields) also to be created dynamically.
My requirement is ..On the selection screen I enter the number of fields to be in the internal table which gets created dynamically.

I need to create an internal table where some of the fields are from a database table, and the other fields are user specified. How do i do that?
Example:
DB table ZTAB with fields ZTAB-FIELD1, ZTAB-FIELD2.
I want to create an internal table ITAB with the fields ZTAB-FIELD1, ZTAB-FIELD2 from ZTAB. In addition, I also want to have one more field RECORD_NO, which is not from ZTAB. How do I do it? Could I do something like below?
DATA BEGIN OF ITAB.
        INCLUDE STRUCTURE ZTAB.
DATA RECORD_NO TYPE I.
DATA END OF UPLINE.
Or, are there more efficient way of doing it? Thanks.

I am having a dynamic internal table & want to use FOR ALL ENTRIES(FAE) using this dyn. table.
This works fine for me:

SAP documentation says:
"The logical expression sql_cond of the WHERE condition can be comprised of several logical expressions using AND and OR. However, if FOR ALL ENTRIES is specified, there must be at least one comparison with a column of the internal table itab that can be specified statically or dynamically. "
How do we specify the column of the internal table dynamically ? Can we do something like this:
IF <lt_tmp> IS NOT INITIAL. "<lt_tmp> is my dyn. internal table
 SELECT field1 field2
 FROM TABLE
 INTO TABLE itab "Itab is a static table
 FOR ALL ENTRIES IN <lt_tmp>

I am confused by what SAP means with "dynamic representation of internal table columns" in FAE ?
@Rob: I was referring to SAPNW 7.0 documentation & the phrase (release 6.40 & higher) is missing. Anyways fyi i am on ECC5.0 ABAP release 6.40.

I need to append the data in my internal table in smartforms by the problem is an error occurred "a table without header line and therefore no component called tdline"
i already declared the data under types declaration tab
types : begin of ts_tline,
         TDFORMAT type tdformat,
         tdline type tdline,
        end of ts_tline.
types : it_tline type table of ts_tline.
and declare these in global data
WA_TLINE type TS_TLINE
XT_TLINE type IT_TLINE
my syntax in program lines :

    SPLIT wa_proj AT cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf
       INTO table IT_SPLIT.
    LOOP AT IT_SPLIT.
      MOVE it_split-commentext TO xt_TLINE-tdline.
an error occured at this part ****
     append xt_TLINE.
    ENDLOOP.
ENDLOOP.
what is wrong with my code..it cannot append data to xt_tline.

Dynamic internal table with dynamic header

Hi Members,
I have created a dynamic report ie In the selection screen i will give set of GL accounts.
Based on the GL it will separate a col like Sales GL, PF GL , Discount Gl etc. In the header portion first 3 col is constant ie it will show the vendor name and material and text remaining col is based on the GL entered in the screen it will cumulate the Total Amount and display accordingly.
This is working fine in ALV grid display, but i required to download the data to excel , while downloading to excel i am getting only the values without header,
ie title of the each col not getting . kindly guide me to solve this issue.
If i entered only sales GLs (100,101,102 ) then my output should be
vendor material mateial text 100 101 102
ddddd 11100 Raw salt 2000 1000 2500

As per my knowledge two ways of doing it...
1. when u get the final internal table..check for the fields with not initial...again update the header internal table dynamically..
2. if you get GL or PF or any such thing you can hardcode the header and display it on to excel..

ABAP OO: how to pass a internal table with objects as a method parameter

Hello all,
I have a class "ZCL_VEHICLE", this class contains the attribute WHEELS.
This attribute contains objects of the class ZCL_WHEEL.
(definition: data WHEELS TYPE TABLE OF REF TO zcl_wheel.).
I now need a method that gives this table back (as return or export parameter). How can I define a parameter for this method that will contain this table?

Excuse me! I understood you wanted to define it in a program, not in a class.
You can define your type into CLASS (use the same statament: go to TYPES (there's a pushbotton on status gui).
TYPES: MY_WHEELS TYPE TABLE OF REF TO .....
Now you can use this type to create a parameter like that, but you can use that type for an object of class defined as PRIVATE.
Infact if your object is public, you'll use it in a your program, so you'll probably have to define a variable like the type defined in the class.
It shouldn't make sense to define the same type for two times or more (one in the class, the others in each program uses your class). So you should define your type in dictionary (all abap object could use it).
If you think to have to use your class in few program (perhaps in olny one), you shuold consider to create your class as local class.

How to sort an Internal table Based on a One Char Trans type in the rec?

Meaning, ascending descending will not work, lets say itab_A has the order O-H-W-G-I-A, and I want it to write it to itab_B to the correct order, G-H-O-I-A-W.
I know I can do loop at itab_A where for each one and write it, but is their a better way?

how can we create in a custom table..... i have never seenlike the above requiremnt.

While waiting to hear back, I was able to write the query results from an outside Oracle server, to a table on the local SQL Server, and do the LEFT OUTER JOIN required for the final query and report to work. That was with this syntax:

Note that if I didn't have the DROP TABLE in the beginning, the 2nd time you run this query, you get an error telling you the table already exists.
