• Urgent, Please help !!! Input Date field in Mysql database using JSP

Hi All,
Please help me ! I am trying to store a date field in MySql databaseusing JSP on Tomcat Server.I am gettting the following error.
I am taking the String Input and then trying to convert it into date type
inorder to store it into date field in a database.
I am using the following code :
<%
try{
String dt=request.getParameter("avldt");
SimpleDateFormat adt= new SimpleDateFormat("dd-MM-yyyy");
Date sqlToday = new java.sql.Date(adt.parse(dt).getTime());
catch(ParseException e){
e.printStackTrace();
%>
But I am getting the following error message :
Class jsp.myjsp.SimpleDateFormat not found.
Please help me !!!.It's very urgent.
Thanks,
Savdeep

programming is more then copy pasting, it actually is usefull to think about what you are doing. First you declare that you date is format dd-MM-yyyy, then you want to parse a date in format dd/MM/yyyy and behold Java warns you it cannot parse the one into the second ! Cant you solve the rest of this puzzle yourself then ?

• How to display image in blob field in ResultSet in SiteStudio?

I am running Site Studio 10gR4. For a custom page, I created a component that basically runs a query. The structure of the underlying data is a combination of Varchar2, Date and a single BLOB field. The blob field either contains a simple jpeg image, or nothing.
In my Page where I am looping through the data, how do I display the blob as an image?
Currently the code looks like this:

Field 1 is a blob and fields 5 and 6 are dates.
So really two questions:
1. How do I display field1 as an image?
Example:
doesn't do it. Is there a different function then getValue() that I should be using to get the blob contents?
2. I want to compare the date fields to todays date, and either change the color or conditionally display the fields. I could do this with basic taglibs from jsp. How do I do this with IDocScript?
Example:

Thanks, Ken

I actually don't know the answer to #1. If I were to guess, there's nothing out-of-the-box to handle blobs, so your best option is to write your own idoc function. Take a look at the How To component if you don't know how.
For #2, you almost have it right. Insert bold:
<!--$if parseDate(formatDate(getValue("SQLRoutes",rsFieldByIndex("SQLRoutes", 6)))) gt dateCurrent()-->
<span class="red"></span>

• How do store a time type field in a database table?

We added a UDF of time type. SQL Server says its a small integer. After I pull the time off a date, I convert it to an integer. For example, I convert 6:00 AM to 600. When I try to store 600 in the field, I get a type mismatch exception. What am I doing wrong?

Adele,
Thanks a bunch!
Your code was syntactically incorrect but it moved me in the right direction. Here is the code I ended up with:
DateString = DateIn.ToString("yyyyMMdd HHmm")
Time = Date.ParseExact(DateString, "yyyyMMdd HHmm", system.Globalization.DateTimeFormatInfo.InvariantInfo)
Then update the Time field with the Time variable.
This does the trick. It looks like it is only necessary to save a date data type in a time type field and only the time piece of it is saved.
Thanks again,
Mike

• How to verify if user already exists in MySQL database using JSP?

Hi, I am trying to create a website that allows users to register and then login. All regsitration details are stored in a MySQL table and I am attempting to have a java bean check that a new user does not already exist by looking up the username. • How to store image in the oracle database 10.2. using File Maker 10.

Hi.,
I want to store image, media file in the oracle database using File Maker as a front end.
I connect Oracle using odbc from file maker. There are table and in that table there a column "pict" of blob type. but this column is not showing in the file maker.
2. Here I can not change the data type of any column.
Now how to store images in the oracle table using odbc or any other tool.
Regards,
Shyam

I wrote an example for my students, you can find it here. It's using PHP as the front end but all you need to do is know how and leverage the stored procedures. All code is downloadable in zip files from the blog.

• How do you query Oracle RDF database using Java program?

Does anyone know how to get data out of the oracle RDF database using Java?
I'm running the following java code and it returns basically null values. My guess is that the get_triple() function returns a dataset other than resultset. I've tried searching the Oracle web site. Am I supposed to be using CLOB object? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
sql = "SELECT a.triple.GET_TRIPLE() AS triple FROM family_rdf_data a";
ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery( sql ) ;
while ( rs.next() )
System.out.println( rs.getString(1) ) ;
rs.close() ;

get_triple() returns an object, and the code would be different from the code of retrieving a string. Some sample code for retrieving objects is at http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/files/advanced/advanced.html
get_subject(), get_property() return strings so the code below should work. get_object() returns a CLOB so different handling would be required and there is some sample code at the link above.

• Display image from BLOB field (png image)

Hello,
On my database i have a function which return BLOB (png image from a webservice)..
Is there some tutorial or sample code how to display a image froma blob field in oracle reports?
thank you

You can create a view and base your report on that view. The view would be something like:
create or replace view my_view as
select my_blob_function() image
from ...In your Report it would just be:
select image
from my_viewNow, I'm not sure if Reports supports png format, though.
There are many examples to be found, e.g.
http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B10602_01/orbr_dyngraph.htm

• How to store image files in oracle DB

Hi,
I am new to working with database.
Please let me know how to store image files in Database using insert command.
Thanks,
Ramesh Yakkala.

Hi,
You need to create a directory object to import these files:
Take a look on the example below:
eg:
CREATE TABLE MY_IMAGE_TABLE (
ID NUMBER,
NAME VARCHAR2(20),
IMAGE BLOB);
CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY IMAGES AS '/tmp';
GRANT READ, WRITE ON DIRECTORY IMAGES TO PUBLIC;
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE load_file_to_my_table (p_file_name IN MY_IMAGE_TABLE.NAME%TYPE) AS
v_bfile BFILE;
v_blob BLOB;
BEGIN
INSERT INTO MY_IMAGE_TABLE (id, name, image)
VALUES (1, p_file_name, empty_blob())
RETURN doc INTO v_blob;
v_bfile := BFILENAME('IMAGES', p_file_name);
Dbms_Lob.Fileopen(v_bfile, Dbms_Lob.File_Readonly);
Dbms_Lob.Loadfromfile(v_blob, v_bfile, Dbms_Lob.Getlength(v_bfile));
Dbms_Lob.Fileclose(v_bfile);
COMMIT;
END;
SQL> execute load_file_to_my_table('myfhoto.jpg');Cheers
