How to store movies & TV shows in a different location

Hi there!
I've seen many of you asking (unfortunatelly with no clear answer) how to store movies & TV shows into another location away from the iTunes Music folder. This idea is to store videos on an AirDisk drive and keep music on the MacBook for example!
I've been trying to do so in the past few days but some pb have occured...
- it is possible to replace the Movies folder by an alias pointing to a Movies folder in the AirDisk drive: existing movies will be playable in iTunes.... the problem is that when I try to add new movies iTunes do not store them into the Movies folder on the AirDisk but in the local music folder (very strange as it is a video file!).
Has anyone succeeded in using such mechanisms?!
Many thanks for your answers!

You cannot delete them from iCloud.
They are purchased and will always be available in iTunes in iCloud for you to download again if you wish.

  • How do I move iTunes music to a different location/folder on my computer?

I have on my computer a few different folders that contain all of the music/albums/tracks that are on my iPhone 3GS. I should have placed all the music in the iTunes/iTunes music folder at the time I added/synced them on to my iPhone, but I overlooked this.
I am wanting to move the music that is in the various folders that contain all of my music, into the iTunes/iTunes music folder.
But if I do this I will be told by iTunes that album blah blah blah cannot be found (or words to that affect).
I was wondering is there a quick, easy, and trouble free way of moving all of my music into the iTunes/iTunes music folder, without getting the album blah blah blah cannot be found (or words to that affect) prompt.
    Thanks in advance

    For iTunes 9:
Choose File > Library > Organize Library
    For iTunes 8:
Choose File > Library > Consolidate Library
    For iTunes 7 or earlier:
    Choose Advanced > Consolidate Library.
    A message will pop up.
    For iTunes 9:
Place a check next to "Consolidate files" and click OK.
    For iTunes 8 and earlier:
    Click Consolidate.
This action copies all of your music and other media files to the new location. There must be enough hard disk space available to copy all of your files.

  • How can I move all my bookmarks from different Firefox profiles into one area to organize them and then place them into the different Firefox profiles?

How can I move all my bookmarks from different Firefox profiles (would like to move whole bookmark folders at once if possible) into one area to organize them and then place them into the different Firefox profiles? This is all under one window user account, I am using windows 8.1. Even if you have information on how to do it on a different windows, it may still be helpful. Thanks for any input you have.

Just a note about the difference between these two things:
    * "export" and "import" use an ancient HTML document format that all browsers can understand. When you import bookmarks, Firefox may place them into an Imported Bookmarks folder, or into Unsorted Bookmarks. This does not displace existing bookmarks, and Firefox does not automatically remove duplicates.
    * "backup" and "restore" use a more comprehensive JSON data file, which contains extra information about your bookmarks (such as tags) not contained in the traditional export file. HOWEVER, a restore completely replaces all existing bookmarks, so the restore feature cannot be used to merge in a set of additional bookmarks.
    Related support articles:
    * [[Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks]]
    * [[Import Bookmarks from a HTML file]]
    * [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
Some users find the disk-based Windows Favorites folder a convenient way to organize bookmarks. If you do, too, and you do not need to preserve tags on your bookmarks, you could export each profile's bookmarks to HTML and import them all into IE11. Organize them in the Windows Favorites folder, then export from IE11 to HTML and import that file into each Firefox profile. See: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/add-view-organize-favorites].

  • How to store movie contents while keeping same music library

Pretty much what i wanna do is that to save music in my computer but keep my movie contents in external hard drive. How do i do this?
    Thanks in advance

Put the movies on the external drive.  Hold down the option key while dragging them to an iTunes window which will leave the files where you put them. Of course the movies will show as broken links iif you do not have the external turned on when starting iTunes, but the links will repair themselves if you turn on the drive and restart iTunes.
My preferred method is to make a separate library for movies and store this on the external drive.  To do that, start iTunes with the option key held down.

Ah! Of course... I wasn't even considering this b/c I'm one of these people who almost never has his computer off b/c I work from home and also do a lot of web surfing, etc. but obviously many many people have the computer shut off much more often than it is on.
So, alright. I see why the hard drive is there... it just seems so tempting for it to be able to be more of a stand alone device, more like another computer with iTunes on it rather than like a big iPod that sits under my TV. I guess I'll file that away in my tech wish list...

  • How to store movies in oracle 8i

Hi, I'm workin on an oracle 8i based project. In that project I need to store (.dat) movies in database. I'm using Java as my front-end tool. Plz give me the exact procedure to store movies not necessarily .dat, but movies of any format as thinking I'm the naive user of oracle.

The exact procedure would depend on the tool set you are using and on your Oracle version.
You would use the BLOB datatype to hold the movie file and you can manipulate it using the dbms_lob package. See the manuals.
If you provide more details on the tools being used, the application, average size of clip, etc... someone may be willing to provide more specific advice.

  • How Do I Move Folders of Photos to Different Hard Disk?

    LR 5.2
    Windows 7 Pro
How do I move numerous folders and subfolders of photos to a different hard drive?
The hard drive I want to move to shows up in the LR Library Left Panel under Folders, but I can't drag and drop the photos from the C Drive to this D drive.
I have been working with LR for about a month; and I've uploaded about 2000 photos I have taken since about a year ago; organized by folders for year and date.    I just realized LR has been putting almost all my photos on my C Drive.    There is one folder of photos in LR on the D Drive.    I don't recall how I got that folder to go on the D Drive while the rest are on the C Drive.
I don't want any data on my C Drive.  I use my C Drive primarily for my Operating Systems and applications.

I am trying something else now.
I am trying to move the files in LR.     Using the Import Window, I select Move.    I can see the photos, but they are grayed out, and I can't "Check" them.     Weird.
2nd wierd thing:  I can make the Destination the D drive.   But the folder on my actual D Drive is My Pictures.     In the Destination panel, LR doesn't see "My Pictures."    It does however, see a folder named "Pictures"  and that contains subfolders for the last 14 years of my photos.
I do have 14 subfolders with 14 years of photos in them on the D drive, but in a folder named My Photos, not Pictures.    There is no folder named Pictures on that drive.
It looks like LR has arbitrarily, on it's own, renamed one of my folders (and locate in it's new alphabetic position amongst all the other folders at the same level of heirarchy) in it's display.  How is that possible?
That being said, the Import window is grayed out and I am not being allowed to proceed.

  • How do I move a table to a different spreadsheet (or tab)

I have a travel document which used to be three spreadsheets (Resources, Upcoming trips, Old trips), each of which had a separate table for each of my trips with a checklist of the things I need to do to prepare for and complete a trip.
In Numbers 3, the old spreadsheets show up as separate tabs (canvases? I'm not sure of the terminology), and each table is a separate item on that tab/canvas.
I want to be able to move a table (trip) from the Upcoming tab to the Old tab when the trip is over.
How do I move a table from one tab/canvas to another???

    James,
Always make copies of your important documents, or use simple scratch documents, when trying suggestions until you are comfortable with them.
It takes a bit of a leap of faith, but I've found that if I Cut (Command-X) a Table or Chart from one Sheet and Paste into another Sheet, that's the same as moving, and all works out well.
Unlike the previous version of Numbers, there doesn't seem to be a way to drag objects from sheet to sheet.

  • How do I move a page to a new location within iBooks Author?

I've just started to play around with iBook Author, and I can't seem to discover how I can do something as basic as move a page to a new location within the chapter, or outside the chapter for that matter.  It won't allow me to drag and drop it, and there is no menu selection for it.  I also would like to be able to insert a new page at the current cursor location, and that doesn't work either.
Has anyone had any luck doing either of these tasks?

You can't. You can move entire chapters or sections but can't move individual pages because of the reflow capability. It is mentioned in the help and the FAQ I believe.

  • RE: Movement of Warehouse across 2 different locations

    Hi,
We have stock residing in 1 warehouse over 2 different location.
location A and location B being different physically situated.
If I need to replenished stock from location A to location B, what is the correct process.
Since picking is taking place in 1 area by 1 group and placement is handled in another area by another group, should I use the 2 step movement?
Can I just use LT01 instead? what to consider?
    Thanks
    Bye

    We have a similar situation,
This is how we handle the movements:
    first we use transfer orders.
we use bin to bin transaction via RF (lt01 0r lt10 would work also)
We created locations (bins) for this
we use t.o. to move the material into a bin while it is in transit (our bins are trailer numbers)
when it reaches the destination they use t.o. from trailer bin and into receiving bin
by using special bins for this process the actions can be tracked in reports by selecting only movements to and from the bins you create
also any inv. in the special transit bins would clearly be in transit and or waiting to be received so you retain accurate location data
Edit: if that is not acceptable to you perhaps you should consider creating production work orders for the material movements.
But I think the method we use is acceptable and MUCH less work then doing the transfers with production work orders.

  • How does a movie bundle show up in your iTunes library after purchased?

  • ITunes has renamed and moved some of my files. How can I move them back to their proper locations?

Recently, for no reason that I can explain, several of my iTunes files have been moved or their information has been changed. For example, my iTunes now lists two copies of Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple, but when I play one of them it is actually The Song Remains The Same by Led Zeppelin. This has happened to dozens of my songs. Also, several of my movie files have been listed as songs, and moved to the music folder on my computer. I tried moving them back to the movies folder, but when I opened iTunes they went back to the music folder. iTunes won't allow me to change their media kind to "movie." How do I get all of my files back where they are supposed to be, under their correct names?

I didn't mess with the iTunes Media folder previously, so I don't think that was the cause. Anyway, I manually fixed most of the songs, but I still can't figure out how to fix the movies that became listed as songs.
Here is a screenshot of what it looks like when I click on "Get Info" for one of the movies (which has ended up in the music section on iTunes):
There is no option to change the media kind to "movie" or "video" even though it is a movie and it still plays as a movie if I press play.

  • How do I move iTunes Library folder to another location?

Hi guys .. I have a question I can't seem to find a fully working answer to.
I have iTunes 11 installed, which has it's folder in the default location:
    C:\Users\ahmadka\Music\iTunes\ ...
However I have all my music stored in one central folder located in my Dropbox:
    C:\Users\ahmadka\Dropbox\ahmadka's Music Library\..............
I've recently made the switch from Dropbox to Google Drive, so I'm trying to move the above music containing folder to:
    C:\Users\ahmadka\Google Drive\ahmadka's Music Library\..............
But before doing anything, I made a backup of my Music\iTunes folder.
Then I moved the folder as mentioned above (moved ahmadka's Music Library folder from Dropbox to Google Drive). However obviously after moving the folder, iTunes was unable to locate any songs (I see that ! sign next to any song I try to play). So then I tried going to File >> Add Folder to Library, and then I browsed for the new 'ahmadka's Music Library' folder. However now iTunes just re-added all the songs again, instead of realizing that they are the same songs which have just been moved.
Restored my iTunes backup and then tried this:
In another thread someone suggested running the FindTracks script to fix those incorrect links. I did this and it seemed to have fixed the links to 80% of the songs, but the remaining 20% still remain. Since they're a lot of songs, I can't manually fix each song's link.
One way would be to just delete everything in my library and re-add all songs from the new Google Drive folder, but I don't want to do this as I loose my ratings, playcount, etc .. I don't want to loose years worth of work.
Is there any other easier way that allows me to move the songs from one location to another ?

    Okay, thanks for that explanation.
First let me tell you the paths for my specific scenario:
My library folder (i.e. A) (i.e. the one containing the ITL file) is: C:\Users\ahmadka\Music\iTunes
My media folder (i.e. B) (i.e. the one mentioned in Edit > Preferences > Advanced) is: C:\Users\ahmadka\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media
But do note that as I've said above, all my active music is currently in this Dropbox folder: C:\Users\ahmadka\Dropbox\ahmadka's Music Library
For example, here are some music folders/files I have here (just to tell you how it's organized):
    C:\Users\ahmadka\Dropbox\ahmadka's Music Library\30 Seconds To Mars\A Beautiful Lie\01. Attack.mp3
    C:\Users\ahmadka\Dropbox\ahmadka's Music Library\30 Seconds To Mars\A Beautiful Lie\02. A Beautiful Lie.mp3
    C:\Users\ahmadka\Dropbox\ahmadka's Music Library\Game of Thrones (OST)\01 - Main Title.mp3
    C:\Users\ahmadka\Dropbox\ahmadka's Music Library\Game of Thrones (OST)\02 - North of the Wall.mp3
    etc...
Since the actual songs folder (i.e. C:\Users\ahmadka\Dropbox\ahmadka's Music Library) is not within either the media or library folder indicated above, how does this work with your solution ?
Remember that I'd just like to move the ahmadka's Music Library folder from Dropbox to Google Drive.
    EDIT:
Also, you said this in your last post:
"A contains B as an immediate subfolder and the library is portable if all the content that is attached to the library is located somewhere inside this media folder."
While A does contain B in my case, do note that B does NOT contain all the media files. The actual media files are in that ahmadka's Music Library folder, which is currently located outside both A and B.
When I download a new song or album from iTunes, it gets downloaded inside B by default. But then I manually move it from there and place it inside my ahmadka's Music Library folder. This causes the link to the media file to break in iTunes, but I fix this by removing it from my iTunes library, and then re-adding the C:\Users\ahmadka\Dropbox\ahmadka's Music Library folder to iTunes. iTunes then scans the folder, realizes that 99% of the contents were already mapped, and just adds the new addition which I had just pasted into ahmadka's Music Library folder. Doing this everytime is a nuisance for me at times, but I'm now used to it.
Also, I like to keep my actual songs outside in a more 'public' location such as Dropbox, so that I can easily browse to that folder from other synced places (e.g. office, consoles, etc.) to listen to songs, etc.
