How to suppress Compare documents dialog in Acrobat 8 using Visual Basic

Hi,
We are having one utility developed in VB and we are using this to compare PDF documents with Adobe 8.0.
Before comparing the PDFs,first Compare Documents dialog is displayed and then we have to say OK. Then,
mismatches between the documents is shown. I want to suppress the Compare dialog box and is there anyway
in VB to suppress the compare dialog and to click on OK programmatically.
Thanks for your Help in advance.
Raju

No there is nothing in the API that allows you to automate the pushing of buttons in the UI. You could try and use something like SendKeys to see if it worked but a word of warning. Doing so would be a real HACK and totally unsupported.

  • Compare PDF: How to suppress compare dialog box programmatically...

    Hi,
    We are using Acrobat 8.0. Using Visual Basic, we are opening two PDF files in Acrobat 8.0 professional.We are comparing those two documents using MenuitemExecute(DIGSIG:CompareDocuments ) command and generating the side by side comparison file programatically.
    During this process after executing the command "MenuitemExecute(DIGSIG:CompareDocuments )" adobe is displaying "Compare Documents" dialog box where the user need to click OK on it in order to continue with the comparison.
    My requirement is to suppress the dialog box and automate the process. Our application is developed in Visual basic.
    Could you please let me know how to suppress the dialog box using Visual basic. Is it possible using VB or any alternatives for this. Because we need to compare many PDF documents so clicking OK every time requires user intervention.
    Thanks for your help in advance.

  • Compare Documents tool in Acrobat Pro 9

    I'm assessing the Compare Documents tool in Acrobat Pro 9 for business use, and have some very specific questions about its functionality:
    When I initially load a pair of PDFs to compare, occasionally Acrobat refuses to accept them as anything but "scanned documents" even though they are fully electronic-sourced PDFs created in, usually, Adobe illustrator.  What are the specific criteria that cause Acrobat Pro to force the "scanned documents" type?  Is it related to the presence of only "flattened"/"outlined" text instead of embedded fonts?  Lack of layers?  Some other graphical feature?  How do the comparison parameters/performance change when the loaded docs are designated as scanned rather than one of the other types?
    Second, when I've done a Compare on two nearly identical documents and then call up the "old and difference images" display - is there any way at all to manipulate this display?  Some of my docs are large - potentially full press-sheet size of around 24" x 40", and when the differences between them are tiny (e.g., a change in only a few Braille dots over the entire graphic) the on-screen rendering of the "difference image" side of the display is relatively tiny and practically useless, although it contains exactly the information I need to see.  Can it be grabbed/stretched/magnified/saved/printed/analyzed some other way besides how it is?  It seems to disappear literally at the first mouse-motion or key-touch, which is incredibly frustrating.  Are there any changes or improvements in this feature in version 10.x over version 9.2.0 (which is the latest version my company has approved)?
    Third, also at the post-compare stage, the feature tags a small printer info block in a corner of the document with "This image was replaced" even when I know the info block has not been changed.  Why could this happen?

    Sounds like you want to do this on a server, but you should know that Adobe Acrobat cannot legally be used on a server.
    For server-based PDF operations you can look at Adobe LiveCycle products or our Adobe PDFLibrary (available in both Java and C++)

  • Could anyone please let me know how to set a ICC profile with Acrobat dlls using Csharp or VB

    Could anyone please let me know how to set a ICC profile with Acrobat dlls using Csharp or VB

    Cant we even use the dlls in an application?
    In order to automate Acrobat, you need to have Acrobat installed. There is
    nothing you can do with just the DLLs. As was already stated, Acrobat is
    not licensed for use on a server, but regardless of that, it's also
    not technically suitable for server use. You need to find a solution
    outside of Acrobat to solve your problem.
    It also seems that you don't have a good understanding of what is going in
    inside a PDF file. PDF is a very complex file format, and based on
    your questions
    and followup questions, you need to spend a considerable amount of time
    getting familiar with the PDF file format to understand how color works in
    the PDF context. Reader the PDF spec, while paying special attention to the
    section about color. You will find out that if you want to convert the
    color space of a "PDF file", you actually need to convert the color space
    associated with every single object in your PDF file. That is fairly simple
    for vector graphic and text, but when it comes to images, you may have to
    convert the image data. Once you have a good understanding of what it is
    you need to do within the PDF file, then you can start looking for tools
    that allow you to do that. Again, Acrobat and therefore the Acrobat SDK is
    not suitable for this task. If you want to stay with Adobe products take a
    serious look at the PDF Library, which his licensed through Datalogics (
    http://www.datalogics.com/products/pdf/pdflibrary/). As you've mentioned,
    there are other, non-Adobe PDF libraries that you can also use, but this is
    the Acrobat SDK forum, so I won't discuss any of those 3rd party solutions.
    You are wasting your time while looking for a simple solution that does not
    exist.

    Several of the CWDAQ objects have Device (the device number), DeviceName, and DeviceType properties that I think will give you the information that you're looking for. For more information, look in the index of the Measurement Studio reference for Device, DeviceName, and DeviceType.

  • How to suppress Save As dialog when using the Close button on an editable pdf

    Environment: Windows 7, SDK 9, Adobe Acrobat Pro X, Visual Studio 2010 Professional
    Summary: when a document is opened for editing using automation, edited, then closed using the "Close" button, the confirmation dialog appears, "yes" is selected and then the "Save As" dialog appears.  It should save without the "Save As" dialog in the same way it does were the document opened from Adobe Acrobat directly.  My question is, is there any flag to set which governs whether the "Save As" dialog appears as part of the close document process.  It is behaving as if the document is read-only upon close. (it isn't)
    This is how the document is opened from C++:
    if(SUCCEEDED(hr = ::CoCreateInstance(__uuidof(Adobe9::Acrobat::CAcroAVDoc), 0, CLSCTX_ALL, IID_IUnknown, (void**)&pUnk))){
    hr = OleRun(pUnk);
    if (SUCCEEDED(hr)){
    if (SUCCEEDED(hr = pUnk->QueryInterface(&pAVDoc))){
    hr = pAVDoc->Open((BSTR)CComBSTR(strPath), strDocName, &bRet);
    Even when the plugin is removed from the plug_ins\AcrobatSDK directory, the behaviour is the same.
    Another reproduction is running the BasicIacVC sample, commenting out all lines from gAcroPdDoc->Close(); in InitInstance() and returning TRUE.  If an editable document is opened using the sample, edited then closed using the "X" button, the confirmation dialog is followed by a "Save As" dialog as if it were a read-only document which it is not.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Evan

    Yes, it does.  (as long as the pdf has been opened via a COM interface)

    I watched a couple of Adobe TV flicks and supposedly I can compare two PDFs by clicking View > Compare Documents. That command is missing from my View menu. Can anyone tell me how to get it?
    Windows 7, Word 2010, Acrobat x (10.1.2)

    Good day,
    Bill is correct.  The Compare Documents feature is only available in Acrobat Professional.  A number of the differences between Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Professional are outlined here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/matrix.html

  • How to suppress the Print Dialog Box?

    Running an (ASP.NET /Crystal Reports 2008) application and using CrystalReportViewer control. Is there way to suppress the print dialog box when I click the print icon on the report tool bar?
    Edited by: juRamz on Aug 26, 2009 2:54 PM

    Hello,
    Sort of, CR needs the info. Only option is to create your own print button that has all the info filled in. It's a Windows Framework Common dialog box that CR calls so it's the OS that is prompting for the info.
    Using ReportClientDoc here's a possible solution, note that this too has a dialog box to select the printer:
    private void button1_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e) // Print To Printer button
        System.Drawing.Printing.PrintDocument pDoc = new System.Drawing.Printing.PrintDocument();
        PrintReportOptions rasPROpts = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.PrintReportOptionsClass();
        CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PrintOptions newOpts = new PrintOptionsClass();
        //CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.PrintOptions newOpts = new PrintOptionsClass();
        pDoc.PrinterSettings.PrinterName = cboCurrentPrinters.Text;
        rasPROpts.PrinterName = cboCurrentPrinters.Text;
        rasPROpts.PaperSize = (CrPaperSizeEnum)
            pDoc.PrinterSettings.PaperSizes[cboCurrentPaperSizes.SelectedIndex].Kind;
        rasPROpts.PaperSource = (CrPaperSourceEnum)
            pDoc.PrinterSettings.PaperSources[cboDefaultPaperTrays.SelectedIndex].Kind;
        // new API added to allow changing printing options
        newOpts = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PrintOptions();
        newOpts.DissociatePageSizeAndPrinterPaperSize = true;
        rptClientDoc.PrintOutputController.ModifyPageMargins(0, 0, 0, 0);
        rptClientDoc.PrintOutputController.PrintReport(rasPROpts);
        MessageBox.Show("Printing report.", "RAS", MessageBoxButtons.OK,MessageBoxIcon.Information );
    Thank you

  • How does iPhoto compare to Picassa which I have used a long time?

    How does iPhoto compare?  And is it simple to bring all to iPhoto in the same organization?
    Thanks!

    Very vague question... in what way? You obviously know the strngths of Picasa. The feature list of  iPhoto is on the Apple Site.
    Best advice I can give is to make a library and import 100 pics and explore. See what you like - or don't. It'll help you to ask pointed questions that will get you better quality answers (that this one )
    As to migration... there is no path from Picasa and it will depend on what Picasa can export.
